Rain pattered against the window as Cassius rolled around sleeplessly in his cold bed. The lamplight had gone out hours ago and he had not a wink of sleep. His tired purple eyes drooped and closed, but opened again. Sleep was floating away from him by the minute and it frustrated him so. Rubbing his eyes and face, Cassius rose from his bed, careful not to hit his head on the ceiling, and grabbed his flannel from its place on his chair. Slipping through his hatch, he entered the second floor of the mansion. The kitchen, which was almost always empty, was a sort of safe haven for Cass, who frequently cooked his food there. Last time he was in the kitchen with someone else, was with another member of the pack, the Russian named Silas. They had rabbit sandwiches together, chatting casually. However, Cass had not seen him in a while, half enjoying his sandwiches by himself. After cooking a couple sandwiches, with rabbit of course, he set them in a makeshift messenger bag and set outside, where the rain had just cleared.

Cass had also begun to frequent the borders, where he looked out at the outside world, not daring cross the line out of Inferni. Something in him didn't let him cross the borders, even if he really wanted to. He wasn't afraid, but it was starting to become bothersome. He was sad he could cross the borders, but he frequently got as close as possible, sitting casually on the grass. Now, he had planned a picnic at the same area where had had met a previous outsider, a female from AniWaya named Asha Amara. She had found a bow, which he fixed for her. He felt a little jealous, since he wanted the bow for himself, but he figured that she found it first, and so she claimed it. She was quite nice though, but her horse freaked him out slightly, Cass not being very good with any equine species.

Sitting on a stray root of a tree, Cassius picked out a sandwich and chomped on it, the meat still warm from the stove. He wished he had some other things to put on it, like ketchup or mayonnaise, but he never found any. cotl had told him of a city called Halifax, where he invited to take the mechanic in search of parts, either for gadgets or for the broken down cars. He also wanted to search restaurants for the food items he craved. Just thinking about it made him hungrier, as he tore another bite from his rabbit sandwich.
