OOC: Private. 400+

The Knight and the girl who wanted to grow up and be a Prince. That was how they had been. They had grown up dreaming of bigger and better days, when they would fight alongside each other and rescue beautiful princesses from monsters and dragons. These would be days when nothing and no one could come between them. But then the real world had, tearing Haven from Brooklyn and driving wedges where the had been no gap. The truth about their conception. Haven's alcohol addiction. Naniko's drug problem. Brooklyn's own withdrawal into loneliness and a world where she could re-enact their favourite childhood games. Before, they had been close and happy. Now, they didn't even live under the same roof.

She had gone early in the morning to visit the caves where they used to play at make-believe and it had hurt her. She felt raw and open, like a bleeding wound. Haven's presence lingered there, burned into the cold stone, like the memory of a loved one who has passed on. She felt the chill enter her bones, her body, she felt it creep up through her veins and grip her heart. The tendrils were thin, but strong as they joined to crush the joy out of her. Brooklyn had had to run out, choking, gasping for air. Haven was not there any more and she had to live with the weight of such a separation.

Almost instinctively she took off, her Optime form fast and sleek across the lands. She tore away from the land of Dreamers and chased a fleeting image of her brother. It was as though she was finally coming up for air after a very long dive, her lungs filling with sweet air and her eyes and mind clearing. A fog had been lifted, the apathy finally being chased off by this wave of emotion. This need, this craving and hunger, this desperate longing for the orange boy. Brooklyn's eyes filled with tears as she ran on and on, until she finally crossed the border of his new pack. She hesitated now, though, and her resolve left her. It was one thing to want to see him and quite another to simply charge across foreign pack lands, especially in such dangerous times.

Fear of disappointment made her change her mind. Even as her ghostly companion shouted in her mind for her to stop, Brooklyn did not heed the call. She would have to explain herself, but seeing Haven mattered, right? She was his sister! Impetuous and stubborn as always, she ran ahead, deeper into the lands. She didn't look like a coyote, did she? She was going to find Haven, come hell or high water. Haven! Haven! her voice rang as she ran towards his home, excited to see him again.

Cheating on my posting order, but since I'm still technically scarce. . . I can break it? xD And oh jeez. . . Princess. 500+ words.

Standing in the bathroom of the house she now shared with Haven, Princess studied her reflection in the mirror critically as she fumbled with some of the little metal pins she'd found ages ago in the city. They were not spectacular, just long and very thin, with one flat side and one crinkled side, but they served their purpose well. Since they were very discrete, they were not easily seen among her thick, curly mane, and they could be used to manipulate the way that the curls fell around her shoulders and on her head. They could even be used to put her hair up, though she knew that some of the other, larger clips were much more useful for that.

With a sigh, she pulled two of the pins from between her teeth, quickly pinning them in the hair right in front of her left ear. She had looked at old human books, though they were very thin, worn out, and did not tell a story. They were mostly filled with pictures of human women, but that was okay by her, as she used them to find interesting things to do with her hair and to see the different types of human dress that she might like. Today, she had tried to pull the curls that were directly surrounding her face back and up a bit so that her face was more visible, and it gave an elegant air to the bits that she had pinned up. With a smile, she removed the last pin from her mouth, adding it to the many others already in her hair, a delicate balance reached.

On the counter by the sink sat the wooden box her brother had given her for their birthday, all three jewelled insects in their rightful places. She trailed her fingers over them gently, considering the many options that she had for them. The dragonfly, she always wore on the necklace, and today was no different, she decided, as she lifted it and clasped it behind her slender neck. However, with the way her hair was pinned up, it needed something more. She pondered the ladybug and the butterfly, finally settling on the latter, which she attached to the hair clip before gently placing it among the curls on one side of her head. Princess smiled at her reflection. The purple and pink dragonfly and the purple and blue butterfly matched nicely with her new silk dress, lilac and very simple. It had basic straps only the width of one of her fingers, and it fit her nicely, though she'd had to alter it a bit, a common occurence for her dresses.

There was really no reason for her to be getting dressed up. Haven was not home, and Princess had not yet begun to explore her new home. A noise outside, a voice calling for Haven, drew for her attention and she left the bathroom, moving through the house until she reached the window that face out. Glancing at the white woman running towards the house, Princess decided she did not recognize her, and seeing her run towards Haven's house, yelling for him with such enthusiasm, brought with it a heavy rise of jealousy. She stepped outside, making a point of shutting the door behind her before crossing her arms just beneath her chest. "Who are you?" she asked the strange woman, her tone guarded, but very far from warm.
