Hope its okay that I pp'd Ehno carrying Cambria into the sunset out of the barn. Thwap me with a newspaper if its not. Big Grin 503

Relief spurred a faint smile onto his lips as he saw his niece wiggle her way out from beneath the heavy wooden beam. Once the girl was completely clear of her trappings, Ehno slowly lowered the beam back to the ground, afraid that if he dropped it that it could do more damage to the already unsteady and delicate structure around them. The Marino turned his gaze back to Cambria to see her wince in pain, and his focus narrowed to the trickles of blood dancing across her fur. His ears pressed against his skull with worry, but when he caught her pleading gaze, he knew that the time to let his worries consume him was not now.

Ehno crouched down next to his niece, immediately moving to try to lift her from where she sat. “Hold on to me. We’re going to get out of here,” he said, amber eyes catching her cerulean ones. He slipped on arm beneath the crook of her knees, the other supporting her back. The uncle slowly lifted her up, trying his best not to jostle the wounded girl too much. When he had her clear of the ground, he gave her a brief nod of determination before turning to make his way out of the building with her in tow.

The quickest path available to them would be past the platform that collapsed upon Ghita. When they reached the spot he found the debris to be scattered about haphazardly, and he took the fact that there was no sign of the giant Jazper to mean that he had managed to pull the Marino woman from the rubble. The hopeful thought spurred him forward, and he began to gingerly make his way through the obstacle course of fallen debris. One step placed his foot on what he thought was a sturdy old board, but it slipped from beneath him and nearly caused him to loose his balance.

There was a flash of pain along his calf where one of the splintered pieces of the fallen platform grazed him. He hissed sharply with the pain, but forced himself to straighten and ignore it, the continuous creaking of the building making it clear that the two of them were still in danger. Ehno glanced at Cambria to assure that she was still okay before moving forward again. He tried his best to side-step the rest of the rubble, and luckily the rest of the path to the large open doorway was almost clear.

The cool, fresh air immediately greeted them as they cleared the barn doors, wrapping around them with a grateful and protective embrace. The Marino came to a halt near the gathered Dreamers outside, carefully lowering his niece back to the ground. He didn’t realize until then just how much he was panting, or how his limbs were tingling with all the nervous adrenaline in his system. He breathed a sigh of relief; they’d all managed to get out of there before it could collapse any further.

Blue eyes looked to her daughter, the pain on her face almost too much for Anu to manage. Still, she pushed herself to be the leader that Savina and the rest had made her to be. Go help them. She said, knowing that they would need help in keeping the injured Dreamer alive. The taller wolfess rose unsteadily from her seat, pushed by the urgency of her mother’s voice and with a bowed head moved to help Jazper. There was nothing that they could do for the broken woman here, nothing that any of them knew of. They would need Savina’s help, and the help of another healer if they could find one. But she would need the cover and the sanctuary of the mansion. Cambria was the only one that knew of any sort of healing and she was trapped inside with Ehno.

The tragedy was trying to overcome her, playing with her emotions and squelching her hope. But Anu would not allow it. She would not let the possibilities overtake her and would not let the thoughts of loosing Cambria, or Ghita; for her injuries could still be life threatening. Then, as she turned back to the barn, its roof caved and broken, and before anyone had the chance to follow her orders, Ehno stood in the doorway. A body cradled in his arms. A whine came to her ears, and her looked to face her daughter, who hadn’t the chance to go to Ghita’s aid. The tears rained down her face, her cheek matted and slick. Anu moved to meet the male, watching as he brought her to the others that settled beyond the wreckage. Softly he lay the form of his niece on the ground. She knelt beside her, checking her status as best as she knew how. She breathed, and Anu called her name, Cambria, Cambria. Trying to elicit a response, anything from her.

it's all good! Big Grin 300+

Ehno quickly caught her eyes and understood the message that she sent from them. He knelt down next to her and said that he would carry her out. The girl nodded her head, eyes wide knowing how much danger they were both still in. "O-Okay," she stuttered. His arms cradled her battered form and she reached her own arms up to encircle his neck. As she was lifted she bit her lip, holding back that pain that assailed her from the movement. In the back of her mind, she knew that her rips were at least badly bruised, if not cracked or broken. She wasn't sure what other damage she had sustained, but that felt like the worst of it. Cambi nodded back to her uncle again before pressing her face against his chest. She didn't think she could bear to see everything that was going on around them.

Her uncle was being as careful as he could be, but every jostle or bump against her ribs sent jabs of pain through her and silent tears began to fall down her already matted cheeks. Their escape seemed to be going fairly well though, until a sudden sharp movement. It seemed like they might both fall and the consequent unexpected movement brought a yelp from her throat, pain throbbing throughout her entire form. Cambria wasn't so caught up in her own pain though to miss the tensing of her uncle form and the sharp hiss that was exhaled from his teeth. Her arms held onto him tighter. Please let us get out alright, please let us get out alright, the girl prayed constantly in her head. She wanted to get out of here, and she didn't want Ehno to get hurt either.

Vaguely the girl noticed that the air entering her lungs was clearer, not so filled with dust, but she was still too afraid to remove her face from the protection and comfort of her uncle's chest. It wasn't until he slowed, and lowered her to the ground that she opened her eyes and looked around dazedly. Soon her name came to her ears, and slowly she looked to Anu who was now with them too, but her mind was overburdened with the shock of everything and she couldn't find any words to respond with. Just then, a few more loud cracks shattered through the air and she looked back to see the final walls of the barn collapse into a jagged wreck with the rest of the old structure. If they hadn't gotten out when they did...the thought and the sight of the completely broken building were too much for her. Cambria's eyes rolled back into her head as she fainted and fell back towards the ground. Then everything was oblivion.

derp, kansas is exploding inside 300+

Mati's words came from a distance. He heard them, but he knew their meaning before she even spoke. Kansas did nothing but stare, eyes wide toward the barn. From within were the sounds of crashing and breaking, the barn crumbling from top to bottom to its top once more. His baby was trapped, and he had no way to predict what would happen to her. Kansas' breaths came in shallow gusts —he was unable to breathe steadily, so sick were his insides. If this was the day he lost his daughter, he did not know how he would live happily in the days that followed. Images of her lifeless form clouded his perception, and it seemed that everything took on a new, sinister shadow.

He paid no mind to Ghita and Jazper, for in this moment Kansas was selfish, consumed by his own thoughts. He stole a glance toward his leader before he sunk to the earth, sitting back on his heels and trying to breathe more evenly. He could be no help to anyone in this state of mind. The ivory werewolf gazed into the dusty barn, in his mind asking whatever entity that watched over them to keep Ehno and his daughter safe. He did not entirely believe that his private pleas would be answered, but they were all he could offer Cambria and his brother-in-law.

Morbid cries of the wood skeleton crumbling filled his mind, but there was movement within the shadows. In the next moment, a strong beast emerged with the Marino child cradled to his chest. Kansas felt all of his tension release, and gasped a renewing breath of air. He was on his feet in an instant, moving toward Ehno without inhibitions. He gave them room, waiting until Ehno rested his daughter upon the soothing grass. Nearby, the barn gave its final gasp, splitting the air with its moans, and fell to the ground. It was only seconds after Ehno's exit. Kansas turned back toward his daughter, eyes roving over her battered frame. She was breathing. He knelt silently beside her, grasping her limp hand and holding it to his lips, eyes closing. Her skin was so warm, and she was alive.

The pale-furred Dreamer stood, moving to Ehno to touch his shoulder lightly. "Thank you" was all he could think to say. He would have saved Cambria if it meant his own death, but he was glad Ehno had done so. Not only was the Marino man stronger, but Kansas sensed that his little girl needed something from her uncle. He had wronged her, and now she had a place from which to nurture forgiveness. "Do you need me to help you carry her?" he asked, in case his brother-in-law had sustained any painful injuries.
