For Ahren in the Yawrah River Territory.

Moon was so glad to be home. Storm was his favorite place in the entire world, except maybe the port town he had been nursed in, which brought many travelers through and taught him quite a lot. First of all, he had become a young man in those months away. The silvery boy found himself missing his giant black savior from time to time, but today he was to busy worrying over his young friend’s absence. Moon wasn’t sure if Selene had gone away, or if she had just been sleeping elsewhere during these last few weeks, but he worried for the silvery girl. It wasn’t exactly a brotherly love that he had for her, but it was definitely a familial one.

Moon and Zorion were enjoying a simple walk through the Yawrah River territory adjoining Storm when a sudden uprising of fluttering birds spooked Zori. The black horse shot out from under Moon’s careful hand, and even though Moon was an expert rider by now, he was thrown off easily. After picking himself off the ground and rubbing his sore ribs, Moon set off in the direction the horse had headed. Zorion, who was no normal warhorse, was not easily spooked. Whatever caused him to bolt this time had probably been truly surprising for the equine, so Moon was somewhat worried as he stalked through the river’s floodplain, calling out for his companion in a strong, loud voice; “Zori, where are you? Zorion?”

indent For the past several weeks, Ahren de le Poer had lived in a daze. He worked mechanically, and rarely saw a living soul. He slept often, and dreamt terrible things. Today though, he was pulled into another life when the sound of hooves reached him. It was so startlingly familiar to see the horse that came running at him that Ahren’s demeanor barely changed. Shifting his feet and stepping slightly to the side, one hand shot out with a viper’s speed and grabbed a thick chunk of the horse’s mane. Ahren kept speed with the horse, one hand pressed against the flat skull until the startled animal settled to a sudden stop.
indent Ahren spoke lowly, using the quiet language he had used with Saffron. The horse’s eyes were rolling, and its breathing was heavy, but it did not seem to be likely to bolt again. Lifting his head, the red-eyed man looked around, waiting for the owner to appear. A voice called out, and Ahren’s ears turned forward. “Here,” he responded.

I suck! :[

Moon moved in a beeline toward the place he thought his horse would have gone, and as he searched fruitless, a voice called out toward him. Moon looked up and smiled, for his friend was safe with a wolf that seemed to know a little bit about them. Moon reached the male and took the reins from him, grinning like a fool while he massaged Zorion’s forehead. “Thank you,” he said slightly breathlessly, turning his silvery eyes back toward the other wolf. He nodded softly in another thanks and watched Zori for any signs of distress. Aside from his slightly labored breathing, he seemed to be okay now. They’d talk about what happened a little later. “I’m Moon Phoenix. Where did you learn about horses?” He introduced himself and stuck out his paw for the red-eyed male to shake.

indent The young man was not unlike many he had seen before. The fact he had a horse, now that was what made him unique. Ahren had seen only one horse here since his return, though that had been a pony. He took the extended hand firmly, gave it two solid shakes, and then released. “Ahren. I used to have one,” he offered, turning his eyes to the equally young horse. “My family in Europe are breeders,” he added, though this was a mostly useless fact. “How long have you had him?”
