Its not that Simple

After seeing Anann last Heath had needed to take a walk. Normally he would have ridden out into an area where he knew he would not see any other canine. There he could be alone, and yet still with his horse companion. This time he needed to be alone, but completely. His clothing had been removed and his wolf form taken. The male had walked a bit and then he had begun to run, full through the territory and out into the a neutral land. His four paws were all that he rode, and Heath for once did not miss the sound of hooves beneath him. It had cleared his mind, and his thoughts never moved beyond the simple and primal instincts that he used to travel through the landscape. His nose told him a grouse was among the long grass, ears caught the song of a bird, his eyes found the setting sun. But nothing went deeper, nothing got more complicated. And when he was used to the quiet of his mind and the emptiness of his head Heath turned and headed home.

It was then that he could move past it, and turn from distressed to composed and from worried to constructive. Heath had returned to Lumiere, touched his wet black nose to her dark and face and smiled. She would be a good mother, and the foul inside her would be as fierce and as loyal as his mother and as powerful and protective as his father. heath could look the stallion in the face, and even extended a handful of hay in peace. But there was still one that Heath needed to speak to. His pride delayed the process, but it was only a few days before he sought the woman's scent and tracked her down. North of the stables, Heath found her smell intense and concentrated. He walked slowly, quietly as his nose worked to find her. What he would say was still in the process of being formed, but he had a few vague ideas.

The past few days had not been kind to the honey colored fem. The cloudy, gray skies had matched her mood. Shadows of doubt and regret fogged her vision of the future she was trying to start far from her past. It wasn't thoughts of the black-armed man and his mare that plagued her mind. She figured Heath would come around in his own time. She had been mad at first. Unable to understand his turn in mood towards Rem. She reckoned it was only the protective nature of men. Forgetting that not all their women are frail flowers in need of protection. The emotional turmoil had been enough to open the door to thoughts of the past. The trickle of thoughts from the back of her mind had turned into a torrent in the sleepless nights. Having stayed away from the stables to give Heath time to come to terms with things, she had stopped sleeping next to the large stallion. Without the safety net of the large steeds warmth beside her, sleep had been evasive and filled with terrors.

Sleep was coming easier and less fitful in the last few nights. Still Anann felt tired and haggard. The first few days and nights she had worked on falling timber for the home she hoped to build. Hoping exhaustion would bring on a dreamless sleep. However it had seemed to only make the nightmares more vivid. The worst was behind her now, she hoped. Anann sat with her back against the thick trunk of an old tree, its limb keeping her suspended high above the ground. Her eyes were closed, basking in the soft glow of the sun as it peeked through an opening in the cloudy sky. The soft sound of padded foot steps from behind, caused an ear to swivel. Even without looking around the large trunk Anann felt confident it was Heath at last. "Don't forget to look up." She called out. A grin already starting to tug at her tired features. She was glad he had finally saught her out. She figured it would only be a matter of time.

He was foolish of him, but it had felt like a foolish reaction at the moment. He had a innate fear of loosing those he loved. Was he wrong to have it? He had only lost his mother and in the past seasons both his siblings had disappeared too. He held that insecurity and masked it with other less vulnerable-looking things. It would be harmful to another, or the pack, anything that looked like it would be counter active in some form but not in a way that would ever hurt him. He needed to be guarded and solid, and untouchable. Though, he was so very far from made of stone and would never have the ability to be so.

The male walked slowly, taking in her scent and knowing that she was close. But as much as he searched with his eyes he could not place her. A frustration was growing, building and not helping the mood that he was already in. He needed to stay calm, and needed to figure out what it was that he would say to her. An apology, that was for certain. Even Heath knew that his actions had been uncalled for even if they had felt right and he had held so little control.

Then a voice drew his amber gaze upwards. The golden female sat in the tree above, and he stopped in his step and looked back down. He took a second to collect himself, and then pointed his dark nose back towards her. Can we talk? He asked, his tone even and likely not as imploring as it should have been. Neck arched he waiting for her eyes and open so that she could truly address is presence. He hadn’t always been on for heights, at least not the sorts that didn’t have a ladder and a railing. Could you come down? another question and this one a bit softer.

Dark eyes open as the accented voice caught her ears. Heavy lids kept them from opening fully, keeping the bloodshot whites concealed. The weak smile at last appearing on her fatigued features. Sincere, just tired. The fact she was starting to shed her thick winter pelt adding to her haggard appearance. "Of coarse." She answered quietly. One response for both question. Leaning away from the trunk of the tree, she pushed herself up and away from the branch, leaving behind tuffs of her shedding undercoat. She crouched as she landed to absorb the impact. Standing up, she stretched. Arching her back and raising her arms over her head as she pulled her shoulders back. A soft groan the only sound made as she felt her spine realign. Only to lean back into the trunk once she had finished. "So what's on your mind? Her blinks were long and heavy. Still feeling the warmth she absorbed from her sunning. She wished she could sleep. But the peace her mind felt now wouldn't last.

She hoped he could recognize her state for what it was and not think her simply being rude. The thought had not crossed her mind that he may think himself and their last conversation -if it could be called that, the cause of her current inner turmoil. It may have had a hand in opening the door for such thoughts but it was far from the cause. Her anger at Heath had faded quickly and she too owed an apology. She would let him speak his mind first. Unsure of his exact purpose in coming here. A lot had gone unspoken the last time they had met. Anann looked at Heath. His eyes seemed unsettled yet, but other than that she couldn't decide what lay behind them. Unable to stop it, her maw split in a large yawn. God, she felt tired.

Heath had been so wrapped up in his tedious thoughts that he hadn’t really gotten a good look at the tree bound female. Simply apologize he thought. Then it could all be blown over and then the two could go back to being friends. That was all he truly wanted. They had been friend from the start, and Heath did not make friends that easily. He wasn’t mad any more, and though he was sort of hoping that it would all blow over he couldn’t take the chance that it wouldn’t.

Anann hopped from the tree’s bow, and as she stood Heath got a good look at her. He was taken a bit aback, unsure entirely what had happened to her. Yes, they were all a bit rough around the edges as their summer coats pushed their extra fur from their pelts but there was something else that he noticed that was not right with her. Though he could understand that he might have woken her from a nap or something Heath gave an unsure look and when what she questioned him stated simply, You look horrible. of course such a thing was the wrong thing to say but he had yet to loose his train of thought and continued with a, What happened?

Loneliness was not something she was used to. Rem was almost always within earshot. A sharp whistle or howl and the horse would be here momentarily. But in the past week she had not called and he had not come on his own. It was a growing stage for them. They both needed to put down roots in their new home. Rem too, would need to find his place in the pecking order. Since it obvious Lumiere the lead mare of the Miracles herd, Rem had found himself a seat at the top pretty fast. Anann on the other hand had drawn within herself. Have only met one other pack member since she had joined the miracles pack. Anann had really planned past her trip to the north and finding a new pack. Back home she had always known what was expect of her. There had never been time to think of what she wanted to do. Only want needed to be done. Without that direction now she felt lost.

Anann wondered if Heath had realized that she had been sleeping in the stables with her steed. Prior to this past week, anyways. She found it embarrassing that she couldn't sleep without the dark horse. Like a little pup that couldn't go to sleep without a favorite stuffed toy. The coy-wolfs word shocked her. She turned her eyes from him, her head with her nose in the air. Well that's kinda rude. Her features staying serious and fierce for only a moment, before the casual grin slipped back into place. Her dark orbs, however roamed over the little plot of land she was starting to call her own. "Oh, nothing." Shifting her weight a bit. "Haven't been sleeping much lately." She wondered suddenly when she last ate. oh There would be time to fix that later.

Yes, Heath was not the smartest of all canines, and he lacked a slight amount of social grace, but with Anann he seemed to be floundering. Their first meeting had gone well enough, and the two had spent the entire day together. There were only two others that he felt so comfortable with, Ruri and Haven. Of course he was not without mishaps with either of those two either. Punching Haven in the face was not something that could be scratched off his record easily, and Heath was not always smooth and graceful in front of his mate either. Heath shook his head slightly, feeling ridiculous and placed in such a state for no reason but his own. He gave a sigh and looked at the woman That's not what I meant. He was concerned, and wished to know what it was the was bothering her. He had hadn't meant to insult her. I just.. His words trailed at the same moment she spoke to explain her current condition.

Heath took a deep breath, exhaling as he gathered all this thoughts in the hope of really explaining himself this time. Not just to insult the friend he was fearing he was about to loose. I just came to apologize. He began to explain. But there was a pause, he hadn't thought past the word apologize. Eyes lowered for a second, then rose again as his voice did the same, I did not want to disrupt your rest, but needed to say I am sorry for how I reacted, Golden eyes watched her face, the other day. His mouth shut then, and the male wondered what she would say.

<3 sorries for the emo

The words of his true purpose here were finally spoken aloud. Confirming for Anann that he was indeed here to mend fences. She was glad it was nothing more than a small hiccup in their friendship. Her eyes coming back to the dark face with bright golden eyes. The words were simple and to the point, once he found them. "It's alright Heath, I've forgiven you. I've always heard pregnancy tends to cause a fight or flight response in men. Although its the flight you hear about more." A brief pause as she thought of what next to say. "I'm sorry too. My reaction could have a been a little better as well. I forget my place here." In all honestly, she was still quite uncertain what her place here was exactly. What role was she suppose to fill? Was she needed here at all? She stood before her only friend, clouds of doubt and uncertainty quickly filling her mind. Shadowing her eyes. She closed them, know she could not keep emotions from them. She felt ashamed of her self doubt. Afraid to let Heath see it.

Her own words had sent her tumbling momentarily down the dark tunnel of despair that had fill her last few days. She was used to being needed, having purpose. Her prior position had given her power and respect. It was the since of duty and responsibility that she missed though. Purpose. As quickly as thoughts came, she shucked them aside. Setting her mind firmly in the present moment. Focus set on the man before her. Focus. She blinked in an attempt to clear mind and sight. "I wish you weren't seeing me like this... its not like me." She hated showing such weakness. Even to those she called friend. Her tone was low and quiet. Her eyes avoided his as the words fell from her mouth.

"Well." She said much louder. Hoping to move the conversation along as if the whole little episode had not happened at all. "How do you feel about it now?" She gave him time to answer before asking the question that she had really wanted to ask. "How's Rem? Have you two settled things?" She was slightly jealous that Rem had not come to see her. Still it was hard to blame the horse when she had not made effort to go to the stables at all since that day. Giving them all plenty of room to figure it out.

emmmmmohhhh is fine!

He would be terribly upset if she had not been able to forgive him. Heath had not been about to foresee if she was one that would easily forgive or not. But then again he felt as if they were pretty similar, and he was certain he would forgive himself in this situation. Her words were reassuring, and there held a humor that Heath was eager to extract and smile at. It was a small grin, nothing to mock her words but only appreciate them. Fight, for sure. He spoke with a small laugh. But as he looked at bit deeper into her gaze he saw that she did not reciprocate the joking that he wished to find in their conversation.

The male was silent then, watching her and the growing even more concerned then before. There was something wrong; more then just a night of unfit sleep. His gaze turned a bit harder and he took a step closer. Her declaration was not something that he expected to hear from her, but he could understand that showing him such emotions was not ideal for her. But instead of allow him to delve deeper into her problems she spoke more about their horses. Heath answered quickly, Better. Then as he thought on it more he could say honestly, Good actually. Lumière will be a good mother, and I have been reading more to prepare and care for her. I’m a bit more confident.

When she spoke of Rem Heath grew confused, but did not show it. Shouldn’t she know how he was? Still Heath gave a solid response without questioning. I don’t think he was ever really moved by my anger. He smiled at the thought, knowing that the large dark stallion wouldn’t care a lick about how Heath thought of him. Anann was the only canine he cared about anyways. I let him do as he pleases, and I think he appreciates it. Heath had realized that allowing Lum and Rem to simply live as they wished would be healthier then any regiment that Heath instilled.

You want to go sit down? She didn’t seem like in the mood or condition to go for a walk. And Heath wanted to know what was on her mind, but still reframed from questioning it.

The amber hued woman focused on her breathing in an effort to calm both body and mind. Also hoping to wake them both up a bit too. The week had been a gray haze. Anann was not completely sure how much timber she had cut nor where it all might lay. How many days she had attempted to use exhaustion as a sleep aid before she had sought out the healer at the hotel for help. The talk with the woman had helped the most, but it had not enough to restore her confidence. Unwilling to share so much of her past was felt unsure if anyone would really stand beside her and call her friend if they new everything. Who would trust someone that had deserted their own people? Explaining the circumstances. Well, it was difficult. Life seemed so much different here. So much simpler. She caught the humor of his comment. It was appreciated, even if it didn't show.

Anann could fell the concerned gaze of the hybrid man on her. She could not help but feel as if she was being judged as those eyes bore into her. Trying to peer deeper than she truly wanted them to go. Her eyes turned to the ground. Feeling guilt heavy in her chest now for not having been to the stables. Something her question had made fairly apparent. Somehow a smile manage to creep across her maw as the man spoke of his mare like a worried father. "You'll both be fine. I'm sure you'll find yourself ready when the time comes. Lumiere too." She gave a soft laugh, adding, "Don't doubt Rem's choice in women." Hoping it was not too early for such humor. "Rem certainly appreciates his freedom, always been the free spirit. Sorry I haven't been around the stables. I figured you'd just want some time to yourself.." Her words trailed off, not really sure where she was going.

"Actually, I'd like to show you something first." She said. She moved away from her leaning spot against the tree towards a few various rocks laid out over the ground. "I'm wanting to build a log cabin here. Close to the stables. Fresh water", She pointed to the creak and the large pool of water that fed it. Having already been asked as why she did not just simply claim a human ruin. She elected to explain herself before being asked again. "I don't like the low ceilings of human buildings and I'd like a doorway Rem can fit in if need be." She pointed to the stones laying on the ground. "I'm using those to mark out the corners. I'm still adjusting it some. Do the winter winds come out of the north and northeast here? or the northwest? I don't want it blowing in my door." She could tell Heath was becoming concerned. She wasn't ready yet. Not just yet. She would crack eventually and let him see beneath the shell she was trying to shield herself with. It was a question on if he was patient enough for it to fall away or if he would be tempted to try and pry it free. What do you think? A slight spark of life coming back to the fem's features.

He didn't have many. Of course compared to how he was when he first arrived here, Heath's pond of friendship had grown into an ocean. But it still was not many. Pushing Annan away as he had was only a instinctual response. At times of great uncertainty Heath always seemed to retreat inward. This had been no different. But her words were encouraging, even lighthearted. Heath took that as honesty, and began to feel a bit better. He had never wished to judge her, not consciously at least, but his eyes grew a bit softer at the weightless words. He had not meant to push her so hard that it made her feel as if she could not return to the the stables. I was going to ask you though, Heath began with a softer tone. if you could be there. You know, as another set of capable hands. He needed her there, and it was the only way he knew how to tell her that.

She didn't want to sit, and Heath perked at the fact that she had something to show him. He kept close and quiet and listened as she pointed out the rough foundation of the house. It was a good location, for everything that she wished there to be. Freshwater, close to Rem. It was a bit of a ways from the rest of the pack, who many lived in the hotel, but she seemed to enjoy her privacy. When she questioned him, he spoke It's a good spot, I think. The male took a step away from her side, a hand lightly touching his chin as he thought for a moment. We always get a ocean breeze, so from the south I think. He guessed as his eyes looked around the landscape. We could clear these, the smaller trees here. The older ones would shade a porch over here nicely. He commented, a bit of a smile on his face and pointing roughly around the general area.

In all truth, the distance that had laid between Heath and Anann the past few days probably had more to do with her state of mind that she would ever admit. It was still true that it was not the only problem. However the heavy weight that Anann held felt holding her down was starting to diminish. Nodding in agreement has Heath asked to her to return to the stables. He had not said that she was needed there, but she felt the implication of it. "I'll be there, I would not be able to stay away." Anann's life had always revolved around the stables. In one fashion or another.

Anann was a bit stiff and sore as they walked over to were her marker stones were laid out, but it felt get to get up and move around some. Heath seemed to approve of the location, pointing out a few of his own ideas. "Glad I asked, or I would have put the door on in the wrong place. Did not think of the winding coming in off the ocean." The large expanse of water was out of sight and therefor out of mind. The ocean was something she had yet grown accustom to. "Yes, I was hoping to only have to clear some of the younger growth. I've started cutting down logs for the walls. Focusing on standing, dead trees. Many of the dead trees were simply too large though." She would start dragging them up soon with Rem. "I had not thought about a porch. It does sound nice though." She said with a slight smile. The talk of the future was like a beacon through the haze that surrounded her. Letting her emerge from the fog of past that was blinding her. Dragging her down.

Anann had done relatively little the last couple of days. Things had slowly been getting better since she had went to see the healer at the hotel. The woman's medication had helped to her sleep some, although it had done little for the nightmares. Even they were starting to diminish. As they stood there looking over her rough layout, Anann decided perhaps it would do her more good to get up and move around a bit. "I've been sitting in that tree forever, care to go for a short walk?" She did not care where they went, if anywhere. She just didn't feel like being planted in the same spot any longer. She had rooted herself down here for days. The fog on her mind was starting to lift and she did not want it to settle over her again.

Heath had come to know so many that hung around the stables and work with their own horses. But he had never really met another that worked so well and was so in-tuned to their horse and any other horse as Annan. The male was glad that she would be back, and if she could be there on the day that Lumière foaled it would be even better. Heath had a feeling that she would be watching just as closely as he was come the time. Good. Was all he said, a small smile touching his face as he did so.

The house was a good idea, and though he was shorter then most and fit fine in his home he liked the idea of building something that would be his right from the start. He gave a nod, knowing little about construction but still understanding the basic concept. The pack can help. He pointed out as she spoke of cutting the logs. The cabin came to life in his imagination as gold eyes looked around at the area. She would need quite a bit of help to build a new house out of logs and mud (well, that what he guessed would be used as mortar). A nod was given at the notion of a porch, it was one of his favorite things about the cabin he shared with Ruri and had always wished it was larger. You’d enjoy it. He said, knowing from experience.

It was not a comfortable seat under a tree that the female wished for. Instead she was eager to stretch the limbs that had been knotted up in the tree’s limbs. Sure. the word said with a gesture of his hand to lead the way. What chased you up there anyways? Heath asked, finally prodding near the mood and the lack of sleep that plagued her.

At the jester of the other, Anann started off on their meandering path. She had no thoughts of were to go and so she simply placed one foot in front of the other. Letting the path take her where it willed. Motion was all that mattered, limbering up muscles that had been idle too long. She left his question unanswered for some time. The question was simple enough and yet a proper answer alluded her for a lengthy moment. The tree in question and her modest layout of stones behind them. "I really hadn't planned much past leaving home and traveling far away." She reached out, breaking off a twig of a limb from a tree as she passed it by. Dead and brittle she idly broke it into smaller and smaller pieces between her fingers. "Now, I'm just trying to figure out what I really want. If and where I really belong." Her eyes looked forward or at her feet. Their pace was slow. Without a destination there was no hurry to get anywhere.

"I worry too about what's going on back home. I left in the midst of a war. Not an honorable act for a warrior. I worry what effect my choice might have had." There had been no honor in the war either. No, if Tosawi still had any honor the war would have ended before it started. Those in the seats of power had let it go to their heads, detaching themselves from those under their power and carrying little how others' lives were affected by their choices of greed. In leaving she had hoped to start a rebellion of the people. Surely they would thing something must be wrong if their protector had abandoned them. "Nightmares of witnessing my people being slaughtered in the siege of war. The city being torn apart and burned. Screams and Howls too real." There was no way of knowing if there was any truth to her night terrors. Though there soon would be. Her tone was detached as she tried to keep the darkness from clouding her mind again. Fighting off feelings of despair and helplessness.

He was eager to know what it was that caused her upset and tired persona. This was not the Annan that he knew, not the one that chased after her horse in jest, or always spoke with a certain humor and curiosity filled tone. She was different and he wanted to know it was that made her unhappy. Perhaps to help find a way to relieve it. Maybe just so that he knew that it was not he who made her feel this way. As hard and rough as he tried to be, Heath never truly survived long when someone he cared for was upset with him. He was quiet, walking beside her in silence and waiting until she felt comfortable to speak of it. And when she did he listened with interest, a quiet and solid support.

Amber eyes looked at her fingers as they fiddled with a small branch, but his ears worked to bring his mind the information that she gave in small bits at a time. They were things that he could understand to be upsetting, but he himself had not truly looked back since coming here. He thought of his siblings often, hoping that what they had left to find was a good life and the peace that they had all set out in search of. But Heath thought little of those that had raised him, his mind either looking forward or at times into the shadows of his past, and of his father. He worried not of the pack that he mother had been born from, not of their health or happiness.

His ears twitched at the uneasy thoughts she gave him. The images of such a disaster were easy to come to him, but not simple to bear. It made him upset to think that she felt this way, so responsible for those that she had needed to leave. He had not known her long, but Heath knew her well enough to understand that it had been hard for her to go and know that decision was coming back to haunt her. He was quiet for a moment, trying to find that right words that would help her guilt, to ease the heartache and worry. He knew her to be strong willed and minded, and the same comfort that he extended to his mate would not fit here. Our actions touch may more then we anticipate. Voice low, knowing that there was little that he could do to solve her worrying thoughts.

You needed to leave, he thought out loud, having gained the feeling that she had needed to leave the more they spoke. but that couldn't have been easy. It was all he said, waiting and ready for her to give him more if she was willing.

There was much Heath could have said. Much more still that he could have asked. What went unspoken and the simple things that were said spoke volumes. "No, and there is no going back." There was slight tone of regret in her voice. It was as if he understood the wounds that had injured her soul, even if he did not know the details. Over time the Miracles pack lands would become home. The stables already had the familiarity of home. Her friendship with Heath also helped with the feeling of belonging. Perhaps they would be all she would need to keep the cloak of darkness from her mind. "I was to be mated as well" She gave a cold laugh. Keese. She thought of what it had been to be held in his arms. The warmth of his body next to hers. The things about him she seemed to miss could be filled by any man. Eventually bringing her to the realization that she had never in fact loved him. Instead she had simply accepted the fact that he was to be her mate. "He chose to stay, rather than coming with me." She had not been so cruel to just walk out on the man she had been intended to spend her life with. Though he had been the only one to receive any warning to her departure. Perhaps he had come to the realization that there was nothing real between them, even before she had. While it was some relief to get things off her chest, she did not wish to dwell on the subject.

Despite the shape she was in, Anann was determined that she would be making another trip in a few days time. This time back to towards the western lands she had come from. Not that she would be going near the full distance. No she would still stay far from the wide reach of Tosawi. There was no going back. She had accepted that the night she had left. She had made arrangements before she had left. Confiding in a trusted friend what she had planned to do. Wanting to travel as light as possible through the winter Anann had asked this friend to meet her in the spring. Hopefully bring her a few supplies she had not had the opportunity to bring with her. A couple of hardwood training swords amongst the top items on her list that she hoped he had been able to acquire for her. "In a few days I travel back west. I'm meeting someone. They should have news of home and be able to put my mind to ease. They should also have some things for me I'd left behind." Rem's cavalry armor would be amongst them as well. The cold steel armor would have been deadly to travel with in the winters cold grip. And far too heavy for trip when combined with the other necessities she had brought. "I was wondering if I could take a pack horse from the stables, along with Rem of coarse. So I can make the trip faster, it would cut the time in half." The trip could be made with Rem alone, but she would have to stop and rest the horse much more often, with two she would be able to travel for the majority of the day.

He didn’t want to pry, or dig so deep that she resented him for it. He knew what it was like to have those parts of himself that he would rather not speak of, parts of his past that he would rather keep in the dark. Very few knew what he was like before joining the pack, so very few knew of the change that had happened when he had met Ruri. She gave no deep thought before responding, knowing exactly how she felt about it. Her voice gave way to the internal emotions, and Heath walked slowly beside her as the same stoic support that he could provide. He was glad that she would stay, and as he thought it she told him of the sadder news. It was harsh, and Heath looked to her face at the way she said them. But he was not chasing after her? All of it seemed as bleak and dark as her eyes had been when he first had found her. How foolish it was to think that he had been the reason for her unhappiness, she had many other things that filled her life.

Your better off. He assured her, a small smile crossed his face. He pointed his chin slightly upwards, its his loss. Heath wasn’t exactly the best at comforting others in their times of romantic woes, but he felt it honest and true. If the guy couldn’t see what he was loosing then he wasn’t smart enough for her or worth her time. Such a thing was easy to see.

Heath nodded, understanding that it would be better to get a little information if she could get it. But going on her own? Sure, yeah take two if you need it. It was the least he could do for her, them being friends and all. But Heath wanted life to be right for her, and wanted her to be able to settle here for good. If that meant gathering the rest of her things and finding the status of those that she left behind then so be it. But he needed to ask, You’ll go alone?

The last thing wanted was pity. Especially concerning Keese. She had been bitter and angry with him at first. Over her journey she had come to a certain understanding, eventually leading to her accepting that it was best that he had stayed. There was a certain feeling of loneliness. One that was not comforted by Heath's presence, but she did not necessarily miss Keese. She nodded at Heath's reassurances that it had been his lose and not hers. Not having anything to add. Though she did find some comfort in his words.

She had been concerned of how he might react to the news of her trip. She had known of it before she had ever settled into the pack lands. It wasn't until now that she had decided to share the fact that she would be leaving, even if just for a few days, with Heath. She would have understood if he not granted her an extra horse. The beasts were a valuable resource. So it was a bit of a pleasant surprise as he granted it to her with hardly a second thought. "Thank you, it should only take a few days, a week at most."

His next question caught her by surprise. "I did not thing there was another option." She was not sure if he was merely asking or if maybe he was somehow offering to accompany on her trip. "I assumed you were needed here and I do not know any others here very well at all. Though you are welcome to come along if you wish."

This was certainly not his strong suit. Heath had found that he could only truly comfort one woman, and to him everything else seemed like adultery. His faithfulness to Ruri was as strong as stone, and such a thing separated him from others, made it harder for his mind to find the words that might actually help her. But it was done, her thoughts on the matter spoken and there was nothing else she cared to share. Heath was satisfied as long as she was, and did not ask of it any further.

The thought of her going out there alone did not settle with him well, and it was because she was a female and because she was his friend. Once more Heath thought of loosing one of the few friends he had, and that did not settle well with him at the least. He gave a shrug, I could, if you need me to. He would leave it to her, not pushing her to see that he worried for her. He knew what that would bring out of her.; the idea that he had not faith in her. Questioning her abilities was not something that Heath thought to be a safe hobby, knowing that her pride was something more the just a secondary quality of her personality. She need only ask and he would be able to, though no one could foresee the things that would stall all their lives.

She could tell Heath held some concerns though about what exactly she was not sure. He had told her once that he was not much of a wanderer and so she doubted it was his since of adventure that had prompted his offer. She did not take it lightly and simply dismiss it as she might of if it had be anyone else that had offered. She had always planned and thought the trip would be made alone. They had forged a quick friendship. Seeming to have a deeper understanding of one another. Still Anann worried what he might think of her afterwards. There was the probability for him to learn much more about her than he already had. Things she had not intended to share. Not yet, if ever.

Well, if anyone from her new pack was to get a glimpse into her past life it should be Heath. "I'm sure I could manage on my own but conversation would be nice. I'd say company but I'd hate to risk offending Rem." There was much more for them to talk about now. Figuring the more she told him now the less chance of problems once the were on the way. It would do her well to unload some of her baggage. "Let's find somewhere to sit for a bit." She looked around for a place they could rest for a little while and talk.
