When a voice can't carry you any further.

There was a cycle. Life always had a cycle. The seasons changed, life was granted and stolen, seeds planted and blossoms unfurled. Spring birthed Summer, and it would die in Fall and decay in Winter. It was life, and it was ever changing form but never in consistency. As was she. The silver and tan wolfess had her own, a wheel that worked her life from one stage to the next. It repeated, and like all the others it would end when she did. Her time was not now, not this moment at least and so she moved through the motions and lived from one step to the next.

Her paws were light on the spring’s green ground, eyes dancing over the new foliage and the tall ominous trees that guarded her home. She had told Gabriel that she would miss them, and she had during her visit to Inferni. Her very first inside. Regrets were for someone younger, for someone who had time to look over what they had done and wish it to be another way. She was too old for regrets. Her mistakes had been made, deeds done and Anu did not regret the pleasure in them.

There was silence. And it always ended is silence. Could her voice not be heard? Was her soft tone inaudible? She couldn’t believe it so. But the cycle turned, and history was destined to repeat itself. Always. She had not broken that pattern, seeking the arms of another when her love no longer wished to hold her. That was not new. But it meant more to her now. Gabriel meant more to her then a nameless stranger.

No... she had not time for regrets.

Silence. Quiet. Questions unanswered, ignored. It ended things.
