The world was alive now. It could be heard through the songs of the birds and seen through the blossoming of flowers. Actually it was the flowers that caught the young boy’s attention. He had been wandering through the woods when he came across a red flower. Actually it had been the small bird at the flower that brought him over. “Hi there birdy!” The words were called out as he wandered over to where the bird was drinking from the flower. Needless to say this only ended up scaring the bird away and having it fly off. Lotus frowned as he watched the bird fly away but then turned his attention to the flower. He tried sticking his nose into the tube like flower to try and figure out what the bird was doing. Of course this didn’t exactly work since the columbine flower didn’t open wide enough.

Finding that it wouldn’t work he pulled away from it to tilt his head and study it for a moment before he ended up looking around to see if he could find where the bird went to. Sadly the bird was long gone. This just brought his attention back to the flower. Wouldn’t his Mommy just think that this was pretty? They could use some pretty color in the den. The boy grabbed the stem in his mouth and jerked his head so that he could pick the flower. He did this with a few more flowers that he found, picking a small bouquet for his Mommy.

He started on his way back to the den with the flowers in his mouth when something else caught his attention. Just a further distance away there were plump berries. He moved over close to them and sniffed at them. They were pretty too, at least in his opinion, so he set the flowers on the ground so that he could try to gather the blackberries. This didn’t exactly work out seeing as the berries squished in his mouth. The juices dribble out the side of his mouth and fell onto the ground. A few of the drops fell against a rock on the ground and saturated it, painting it a red coloration. This intrigued him and had him finding a larger stone to nudge beneath the bush. Once again he tried to grab for the berries but this time he purposefully squished them in order to drip the juice on the stone so that he could watch the patterns that it created as the juice landed against the stone. He laughed as he stepped on a berry that had fallen on the bush and squished it on the stone and used his paw to spread the juices around. It was just a simple form of artistic expression but he was enjoying himself. It would be something else that he could bring to his Mommy to decorate the den with. Something else to bring along with the flowers that he had picked. But for now he was having fun painting.
