yay cousin! 300+

For a while Cambria hadn't moved around much, because it had been too painful to, but the pain was slowly leaking from her body and she was able to walk around more freely. Still, she didn't venture from the mansion. Even if she had wanted to, no doubt someone would have stopped her from doing so. If not her parents then certainly Mati. This didn't bother her in the least though. Their authority on the matter was born of their concern and affection for her and she knew that if she were in their position she would be saying the very same thing. The girl had always been a homebody in some sense or another though, and so being confined around the mansion didn't bother her. She had taken to studying her book of healing herbs, not wanting to get rusty on the information while she was unable to go to AniWaya for her lessons with Dawali. Her healing was more than just a goal now, it was her actual job. She was Crimson Dream's Practitioner and she wasn't about to let her home down.

Wishing to be outside and get some fresh air she had taken her book, a pillow, and Enzo and headed down the stairs and out the back door of the mansion. The mourning dove was perched expertly on her shoulder, his head bobbing every now and again to take in his surroundings. Cambria held her breath for a little while as they walked to Anu's garden, afraid that he might take off on her and not come back. He didn't seem to have any inclinations of the sort though and happiness filled her heart. Just as with Leafy, she had promised that if he wanted to leave her she wouldn't stop him, but she had sincerely hoped that he would want to stay with her. It seemed that that was indeed the case. Her slender fingers gently rubbed his chest and he let out a contented coo.

The Marino reached the pretty little garden by the house that the Lt. General kept and propped a pillow against the side of the house. Gently she lowered herself to the ground, the bandages around her torso stretching as her body stretched and moved. A light wince was on her face but it soon disappeared once she was settled against the pillow, her legs stretched out in front of her. Cambi opened up the book and her sea green eyes scanned over the page, absorbing the information.

Once again his golden form crossed through claimed territory. He knew he was welcome here though, and in order to keep this a surprise, he decided to break right into the Dreamer lands without calling for permission. He moved swiftly in the direction of the mansion where the Marino family lived, but a fresh, scented track soon led him away from his designated route and he followed eagerly; looking forward to see his favourite cousin again. It had been so long now since he had seen her. That little voice asked why it was always him seeking his Dreamer family out and never the opposite, but he hushed it away and held on to the optimistic feeling charged with anticipation.

He found her and understood instantly why she had chosen this spot. It was a lovely place rich with the fragrances of nature. He stopped though, before stepping into the lovely garden. ”Woof,” the yearling said, more than loud enough for the reading luperci to hear him through her thick aura of concentration. He did not recognize the book, but he would as soon as he was close enough to read the title. Cambria was not the only one losing herself within the enchanting pages of healing books.

I'm sorry I fail so miserably :[ still love me? 300+

Her focus was completely on the facts and tips that filled the book in her lap. No one dangerous would come this far into Crimson Dreams without being spotted by someone, so she had no fear of strangers sneaking up on her quiet study place. Even if that were somehow the case, she had a feeling that Enzo would see them and become agitated and that would probably alert her to any strange presence. Her instruction on herbs was really just beginning and she was eager to learn how plants could help the sick and reduce physical pain. Cambi had started her training at the start of winter, so there had been no opportunity to learn these things before and her healing knowledge was only on how to mend wounds. Finally she would be able to help if someone became ill also.

The girl's theory that the mourning dove would alert her to someone's presence turned out to be false. When the bird saw the figure approaching the garden his head bobbed, and he cooed, but he was only curious. Living in the house with all the Dreamers had somewhat desensitized him to the proximity and presence of wolves. When that "woof" sounded she jumped, eyes wide with startle. When he gaze landed upon her cousin though a large smile quickly spread over her face. "Conor!" she cried happily. Cambria quickly stood up, a little too quickly, and her bandaged ribs protested. She winced briefly, a hand lightly touching the area, but she was too excited to let a little pain get the best of her. Her slender form rushed over to him, wrapping her arms around him. "I've missed you," she whispered into his ear.

Pulling back she looked him over more critically, for any physical signs that the war had touched him. When she found nothing alarming her sea green eyes returned to his lilac. "I wanted to come see you...but I was afraid. I didn't know how bad things were..." Guilt colored her tones. He was her cousin, and she should have braved the danger to make sure he was alright.

He was surprised to see the delighted warmth glowing in his cousin’s youthful face when she looked up from her book. He was sorry to have made her jump like that, but the surprise showed only happiness, and so he pushed the worry away. But ah, what was this? The way she had held her book had disguised it well enough for him to fail to pay attention to it before now, but the bandages were strikingly visible against the young girl’s dark coated form. She cried out his name and rushed to hug him. He saw the light wince, but did not have the time to react to it before her arms were around him. His own arms rose to fulfil the embrace and the golden hued Soul male closed his soft hued eyes. Her excitement jumped over to the Dahlian and the male laughed, watching the odd meetings they’d had in the past. Dramatic puppy moments and that time when he had run into her just as she had experienced her first shift to optime. It was so good to see her again.

She whispered such sweet words and he returned them sincerely. ”I’ve missed you too, Cambria.” the family was so scattered—it was important to keep the bonds strong and vivid. Now when the war was over, perhaps he would find the time to build up his life. They pulled apart, and he passively investigated the bandage strung around her ribcage. She was the first to speak though, so he decided to answer her first. ”Don’t think about it that way—it was right of you to stay away.” War was so ugly, and Conor knew that he would have had a hard time living with himself if something had happened to Cambria during the violent conflict. He did not wish to talk about the war though. He wanted to talk about life and green. Though.. ”What happened to you?” he muttered with a soft voice, gesticulating to her ribs with his free hand.

Oh, she was so happy to see him! It had been far too long since they had been around each other. She remembered well the last time, how he had helped her learn to walk after her first shift and to belay her fears after she had found herself alone out in the woods. Each memory containing him was crisp and clear, except for their first meeting which had begun to blur in her mind. That memory didn't matter, for that wasn't the Conor that she knew now. It had all been a misunderstanding, and it was no secret that he was her favorite cousin. True, she didn't know many of her cousins outside of Crimson Dreams, but Conor was even one of her favorite people period. She loved the golden hued boy with all her heart.

His laughter filled her with joy and she couldn't help but let her tail wag without regard behind her. She was so happy that he seemed well. It was good to hear that he had missed her too. Cambria supposed that he could have only been saying it out of politeness, but she heard no deception in his voice. She didn't think that he would do anything to mislead her. As they pulled apart it was clear that he had seen her bandages, they were nearly impossible to miss, but before he asked about them he responded to her worries. Somewhat solemnly she nodded, glad that he wasn't upset that she had not come to see him. Now it was time to explain her own predicament though. "The old barn collapsed while I was inside it. I got pinned down by one of the beams from the roof. My uncle got me out. I wasn't hurt too badly all in all though, just some scrapes and bruised ribs," she reassured him, her smile returning. The Marino couldn't let the problems they had faced get to her now, not with him here with her now.
