WC:324 // Sylvie~<33

Sunset over the lake was beautiful. Colibri was transfixed by the shimmering colors, the flat stretch of red and gold water stretching off into the distance. There were still wonders in this world that took her breath away, and for that, she would always be grateful... They were things that could distract her from her petty problems, let her escape from herself if only for a short while. Without really thinking about it, the slim werewolf rose to her paws and began to walk along the lake's edge.

Rabbit Lake was partly claimed by Crimson Dreams, but the body of water stretched past their border into the unclaimed fields where she found herself meandering. It hadn't been much of a conscious decision to leave, but once the familiar scents were behind her, it was as though a small weight had been lifted from her shoulders. There was no need to worry out here, no need to let anxiety rule her waking hours, no need to mull endlessly on the series of mistakes she had made. The neutral territories were becoming more and more appealing, lawless places where she would not be recognized or cared about.

The threat of Haku was always lingering in the back of her mind, but the lake was a calm presence at her back, proof that she was not too far should she find herself in trouble. A small spark of rebellion made her set her jaw firmly, silently willing for trouble to come, to see what she would do this time. Her tail stub stirred behind her as her gaze swept the hillocks, watching the shadows lengthen as the sun sank even lower. It was so quiet out here... Even her sensitive ears could only catch the sounds of crows retreating to their nests, and a small warren of rabbits rustling nearby in the grass. Coli sighed, simultaneously disappointed and relieved. It was going to be another long night.

Night was waxing upon the young gypsy, her wanderlust not yet completely coerced into the bed of settlements though she often returned to the Hotel as of late. Again, she was off and about quite the distance from her home territory, allowing the wind to take her as it pleased, tendrils of cool prods playfully grabbing at soft limbs and her soon to be too small outfit. Her mane was wild and untamed in her new favorite form, spiky yet fluffy soft as it trailed from the base of her ears to her shoulders and chest, but her bangs were tamed and smooth, carefully woven sunshine gradienting from her lilac base to white tipped glows. Deep violet gems glittered and laughed at the scenery before them, calling to stars and fireflies alike with whispers of dancing and fun.

The bruised sky above reflected onto the glassy lake below as if the heavens were unsure of their beauty, the gently twisted swirls of reds, blues, and golds a display that even they had to witness. Rabbit lake this place was called, a name Sylvie had heard only a few times before, and had not visited until now. It was partially territory of Crimson Dreams, after all, and a wandering gypsy child was better off in the lawless parts of the land, left to her own devices and wiles. Sylvie, the lovely teenage collie girl, was perhaps, safer outside of the various pack lands, though the threats of monsters and mother Earth's own anger would perhaps have better holds in areas like these.

For the lilac border collie, this was all the better. Though she had yet to learn how to wield weapons, she was potent in her own way- wise beyond her years of the terrible things even ones closest friends could cause. Dancing over the soft grasses of Rabbit Lake was a child abandoned before she could grow, heart torn out by her own mother only to be mended by a saving angel with pains like her own. In light of her new demeanor, brought about by a kind, sweet brute of her savior's, these things were the past, and meant to stay there. Her future was bright, and she had finally come to understand that.

A warren of rabbits dashed from sight as she padded past them, arms up behind her head and gait graceful. Sylvie was a lucky girl. Violet gems came to rest upon another- a female older than she, effectively a lovely woman. Her fur was auburn and chocolate, and her eyes the shade of the sky. Those eyes reminded her of the savior's son, but they were not as bright and carefree as his- no, they were darker, lost in thoughts that seemed to hurt.

"Hello!"

Called the teen, interested in the woman. She seemed to be a fun one despite the darkness in her eyes, and the vagrant girl was happily interested in getting it to show.

WC:356 // no need to rush on your end! I'm just all caught up for once. ;D

The air gradually grew colder, the breeze stirring the surface of the lake before darting off to ruffle the field grass. Colibri stood still, watching absent-mindedly as the sky's colors began to reach a deeper, more somber palette of night. Red bled into purple, blue became a velvety indigo, and the gold seemed to streak into nothingness, making way for the pinprick stars to begin shining, feeble at first amidst the sun's dying light. It seemed unbearably lonely to watch the day end by herself. She had never been much of a nocturnal creature, loving her flowers and her gardening and her sunlight. She could hear some of night's creatures beginning to stir now; the fluttering of bats swooping after fleeing insects, and something much larger, rustling in her direction.

Colibri's earth-brown ears swiveled forward, peering curiously into the dimming light. She was greeted by a cheerful smile and a youthful voice, a stranger who had caught her unawares. Coli brushed the feathered strands of her mane from her face, self-consciously checking her own appearance before offering a meek greeting in response. "Oh, hello there! You're... going for a walk too? It's lovely tonight..." She twisted her fingers together before her, feeling a touch nervous despite the girl's clearly friendly approach.

It did not occur to her that the youth could belong to a neighboring pack; there was no one dominant scent about her pale fur, and her free-flowing mane had a feral beauty about it, unkempt but not disheveled. She appeared to be a wanderer, wearing a yellow dress that reminded her of something a former packmate used to sport.

And... as she chanced another glance at the traveler's countenance, Coli realized this was one of the prettiest faes she'd ever seen. There was something so delicate and exquisitely feminine in her appearance; having met precious few dogs in her lifetime, all of them male, she was quite taken aback by the collie's brilliant smile and captivating eyes. Her own smile faltered lopsidedly, knowing she would appear plain and dirt-brown by comparison. Anu was the only one who seemed to think otherwise... for a while.

ooc: Oof. Sorry it's short- every time I tried to add to it, I got called away. xD

The sun blazed out further and further, it's valiant death a grand display that filled the world and cast brilliant colors over the other woman's pelt, giving her the appearance of glowing embers over deep purple charcoal. Her brilliant blue eyes were a stark contrast, and indeed, the wolf was lovely to look at. Sylvie was exotic, colored dilute chocolate and cream, with those vibrant violet eyes, but the woman had a natural, earthy beauty to her, particularly in light like this. Sylvie wondered absently if the meek female had a mate. A strange pang of pain slipped through her heart at this notion. But why would it bother her? She had no... mate. She had friends... or so she hoped she still had friends, after having been gone as long as she had.

The weather was warming, growing through winter and towards the warmer climate of spring, and bringing with it creatures whom seemed almost extinct during the colder months. Bats danced about above them, squeaking their calls to find the moths that so fervently flapped about, trying to continue their lives as they should, various rodents scuttled about their merry ways, while the owls began to open their large light orbs to the rising moon, calling to the world in which they lived with a quiet hoo.

The lovely woman's response was somewhat nervous, her fingers twisting together only an emphasis to it, but at least she was friendly enough. Why be worried about a teenager? She was not unfriendly, nor scary in any manner. Certainly, the elder woman would be scarier than she- she was a full-blooded wolfess. Dogs had trouble being quite as scary as wolves, she had learned. Offering a bright smile, though the cold pricked at her skin, the moon-glow eyed girl spoke as well.

"Oh yes. Walking around a lake in the evening is a favorite past time of mine. Its lovely to watch the reflection of the sun, plus the night creatures come out."

With a flourish, Sylvie bowed gracefully to Colibri, fluffy mane dancing about in the breeze, that too-small dress flipping about her frame again, swirling in a pleasing manner. Hopefully this would help put her a little more at ease. Sylvie's lovely smile danced along soft cream muzzle and caramel cheeks as she offered a soft introduction.

"My name is Sylvie Ciel. What's yours?"

Perhaps this would help her feel more at ease?

The graceful youth bowed in greeting, her lyrical voice bright and clear as she offered her name. Coli straightened her smile in return -- she could not help herself, that friendly grin was irresistible -- and inclined her head in a small nod. "...Colibri Haki. It's a pleasure to meet you, Sylvie Ciel."

Coli believed firmly in the supernatural, in things predestined and superstitious. And in the crepuscular ambiance, everything had a hint of magic; the calming presence of the lake at her back, the irregular flicker of fireflies, the glint of moonlight on Sylvie's eyes. The beauty of it all moved something within her, a rarely-seen facet of her splintered personality that sought to abandon all cares and worries and simply seek enjoyment.

Every once in a while, Colibri found a way to free herself from the anxiety that shackled her. It felt like a lifetime ago that she had gotten tipsy and kissed a girl, and the last truly worry-free moment she had felt had been dancing in the rain. No one saw her that night, and it had been exhilarating -- pirouetting and soaring amidst the shimmering jewels of rain, the world gleaming beneath her paws, the rumble of thunder her music. It had been such a light feeling, difficult to describe and harder still to recapture. Kissing Anu had given her that feeling, too, but it was fleeting and confusing, muddled with her self-doubt and fear of abandonment. A self-fulfilling prophecy, she had sadly realized. But she wanted to feel that light again, and something about this Sylvie told her she could make it happen.

"Do you... know anything about dancing?" she asked softly, blue eyes holding a curious light. She shifted her weight slightly, her tail stub flicking with anticipation. Sylvie's fluid balance and lean form made Coli think that perhaps she did...
