She breathed in the clean, rain drenched hair and did not mind the cold, wet weight that came with it. This was the first time her heart had been lighter in weeks, since her fall. She felt the clean, crisp air on her ruined face and knew a small measure of tolerance - not acceptance of her fate or situation, not peace with herself and her relationships. But a small bit of tolerance, an acknowledgement that going back to the way things used to be was all but impossible. It was a small, microscopic step in the right direction. And as small as it was, it was all that she had to show for moving on from the wreckage of the accident that had stolen so much of her - her vitality, her purpose, and who she thought she was.

She had come close to her old home. Although Crimson Dreams had ceased to be her home more than a year ago, she still felt a small measure of comfort. When she was at Phoenix Valley, she felt that she did not know who she was anymore, or how she fit into the grand scheme of things. Returning so close to the first home she had known in this land gave her some pause. She hadn't known the depths of her strength, of her emotion, of how far gone her heart could become, when she had first collapsed upon these lands. And she had only grown more after departing, rising through the ranks, discovering love with Jefferson. She closed her eyes against the thought. They hadn't said more than three words to one another since she had told him...She couldn't bear to think of it any longer.

She had taken her path away from Phoenix Valley to escape those thoughts and that pain for a while, a short while. She wanted ot hide from the eyes of her pack mates, to be somewhere where no one would look upon her ruined face and think of the once delicate features and straight, perfect profile. She didn't want to be surrounded by the thundering silence that let her know that everyone around her knew that she hadn't passed the night with her mate, as she used to - that she no longer held the duty or the honor associated with being the Savant. But how could she escape herself?

The rain was a welcome change in weather. He grass was starting to dry form the recent summer sun and the trees leaves stretched to the sky as if reaching for an invisible moisture. As for the man himself, the rain soothed his hot skin, and coal coat, leaving him refreshed. Today he had decided to do a full walk around Rabbit Lake to gather up some food for the pups and Ghita. He had a lot more free time lately with the pups running around, they were old enough to go to the edge of the territory, visit friends and such on their own. However, poor Jazper got left behind. He found himself following Sophia or Aro with worried eyes. Watching them to make sure they didn’t get hurt, didn’t start trouble.

By now he had two rabbits tied with a rope and slumped over a massive shoulder for ease of carrying. A soft hum rumbled in the wolf's chest as he went along pondering how the pups would turn out. He was worried often about Sophia, she seemed to be quite a rebel for so little a girl and he hated the thought of her getting into alcohol and drugs. What f she ran off to the city when she was older and never came back? He shook the thought from his head. Aro was growing up a little arrogant, perhaps it was his fault for instilling the boy with such a sense of pride. After all, pride could sometimes hurt your relationships, sometimes you had to bend. The Knight was brought away from his thoughts as a far off figure caught his attention, or the scent more so. “Geneva?!” He called to the wolfess. What was she doing around these parts? He hadn't seen her back in Crimson Dreams territories since she left.

Geneva's lime green eyes flashed up to meet a surprised voice. She did not like being taken by surprise, but so close to Crimson Dream's borders, she should have known that others might have been milling about on their daily business. She was so close to another pack's land, where their numbers congregated to live and to expand their lives, and so it was fitting and it made sense that she would not be alone for long here. The gray Valley woman was immediately relieved to lay eyes upon her former pack mate and sometime conversation companion, Jazper.

The large black man looked much the same to her, except he had markings around his eye in a yellow dye that she had not noticed before. She doubted that the symbol was a recent addition to his face; it had been so long since they had seen one another. Even so, she felt the weight of her surprise evaporate immediately. She was not at ease immediately, but she was able to be calm now. Jazper had never made her uncomfortable or self-conscious; the black giant had always been a good conversational companion.

"Yes, I'm here!" she called in a strained voice over the distance. Her voice, usually whisper soft, was rusty from disuse. She had not made it a habit to talk to very many creatures since emerging from her self imposed exile. She had raised her voice at Jefferson and had had a small conversation with Pendzez, but had otherwise kept to herself. It had been easier that way, or so she thought. But as she wrapped her thin arms around her petite frame, the weight of words threatened to choke her.

She stumbled forward toward him thoughtlessly, unsure of her course of action. As she neared the towering black wolf, her fingers clutched her sides. Her newly scarred features, strange and disfigured sitting in her face, were tense with undeclared and imprecise emotion. She opened her mouth, her jaws working to form words, but she couldn't find them for a moment. "Jazper...I'm pregnant," she said, seeming dumb-founded as she said the words.

It had been a long time since Jazper had seen his old friend. Every now and then his thoughts had wandered to her. The last time they had met Jazper had gotten a fresh tattoo which was now almost a year old, and Geneva had started to have feelings for this Jefferson fellow he had met once. A little bit of a grouch he had thought, much too serious for his own taste. But whatever floats your boat. Now, things seemed different. He could sense a tenseness in her body language, a roughness in her voice. Perhaps he had caught her at the wrong time? He walked towards her slowly with a full smile as he noticed her stumble towards him. Then they came face to face.

His shock was clear in his amber eyes. The last time they had met Geneva was flawless. She had always been a fairly good looking wolfess. Now..now she was scared, marked and disfigured. She looked helpless and broken. A fate that could have so easily been Ghita's when she was caught inside the old barn as it fell. Quickly Jazper's instincts took hold of him as he reached and and pulled the short female into an embrace. It wasn't until then that the words hit him. “Pregnant?” He questioned out load. Pulling back slightly he looked down at Geneva's belly. “So you and that Jefferson guy got together?” He asked, brows still frowned in concern. What had happened to her? Unsure of what else to say he smiled lightly, “I have pups now Geneva.” The thought had only been a distant thought in him mind when they had last spoke. “Savina's sister, Ghita, she came to stay with us and now we have two pups. Aro Marino and Sophia Knight. Savina's had a second litter and Anu's expecting.” It was at least an attempt to bring a smile to the girls face. She seemed so lost.
