Change wasn’t something Lucia was quick to adjust to. She hadn’t liked the initial change when her mother left on her journey in the first place, and all it had led to now was more and more changes in the wake of all this news. It had changed the previously pristine image of her momma, changed the structure of her family as she knew it, changed how home would feel when she returned there. In time she would learn to adjust, perhaps face this information and hardly bat an eye. It would take time for the girl to reach that state and move on with her life. At this moment it seemed like such a daunting tak, one that she wished she could simply pass on to someone else. She didn’t want to have to face this. She wanted things to be simple and easy and cheerful again. It was the first step for the Marino girl to realize that life wasn’t easy, and it certainly wasn’t fair.

Mati’s words seemed to cut through the stiflingly dusty air with ease, the suggestion immediately making Lucia long for the cool fresh air outside, rainstorm be damned. It was so dark and stuffy and quiet here that her thoughts and emotions were continuing to rampage and she wasn’t quite sure how much more of it she could take. With the complex swell of emotions in her chest, Lucia was beginning to feel like a young child again, filled with a naivety that led her to blindly follow those she considered older and wiser than herself. The Valley girl was slowly slipping into this mindset that told her adults with their vast experience of the world were to be studied and mimicked so that she could learn from them. So she did not question the half-sister she had just met as she followed her out into the still-pouring rain. Mati knew what she was doing, knew how to make the heartache and confusion away, if just a little bit at a time. And that was what Lucia wanted more than anything right now.

end here? we can say that Mati walked her home? let me know Big Grin

Change was never easy, especially when it was beyond their control. Mati had come busting through Lucia’s life and filled it with a brand new sense of turmoil. It would take time for both of them to get over this meeting, for the appearance of one of Ehno’s children always left Mati with a nervous buzz in her gut, as if she was afraid the wounds would be ripped open again, and the pain would return in full force. But she did not have the weight that Lucia now needed to carry. It had been the Church female’s long ago, but no longer did she care to hold it.

Mati pushed the door open, seeing that the rain had not let up as she hoped. But, it didn’t matter. They both needed it and the air that rushed at their faces and brought them cool refreshment. Though it was wet and humid it did not compare to the dust and the tension that had built within the small room. Mati did not pause, walking straight out from under the torn awning and into the storm’s grasp. Her eyes squinted against the drops, and she looked back at the sandy hued fey.

For a moment she was still, her bronze fur soaking up the rain that fell on her pelt and her mane becoming straight from the new weight, and looked at her half sister. Mati wished to be home, wished to be in the comfort of her room and perhaps in the arms of someone she cared for. She needed that reassurance, and was not too shamed to admit it. The bag on her shoulder wouldn’t likely recover from the amount of stress she was placing on it, but it nor the things inside mattered. Mati gave a small gesture of her hand, then called to Lucia over the tapping of the rain Come on.

Mati set off down the street, heading northeast and towards Phoenix Valley.
