omg, Erin started the thread? wat? 300+

He had wanted to take a trip back to Crimson Dreams ever since he had asked Princess to be his mate, but he had needed to wait until he was in fit condition to travel again. After that time had come, there had been some other things to attend to. Jacquez's desertion had hit him harder than he had expected and he had been in a somewhat grim and irritable mood for a few days after the announcement had been made. Finally the Knight had come to terms though and decided to push past it and move forward. It was no use dwelling upon it. He knew the ex monarch wasn't dwelling upon them. The night before he had asked Princess if she wanted to go to Crimson Dreams to visit his mother and the others and share their news and she had thought it was a wonderful idea. Not wanting to wait any longer than they already had, they decided to go the next day.

Haven woke early and dressed and went to the stable to feed and water Drogon and then bring him back to the house to pick up Princess. It would be the longest trek they had made since his fatal fight with the outsider and he was ready to have some time away from the pack. He loved Cours des Miracles, but a short trip to clear his head would help him greatly. It had been too long since he had seen his family and he couldn't wait to share the exiting news with them all. Drogon seemed just as excited, playfully nipping at his luperci friend and swishing his tail. The Aatte chuckled as he put the reins and bridle on and rode him out of the stables and back to their modest little house by the sea. He called out to his mate and when she came out pulled her up onto the stallion's back behind him. With of a nudge of his heels, the trio was off towards the lands of Crimson Dreams.

It was a wonderfully pleasant ride. He loved having the mustang beneath him and Princess behind him, her arms wrapped tightly around his waist. They laughed and chatted and it was the lightest the Knight had felt in days. Time passed quickly and before he knew it they were upon the borders of the pack he had once known as home. He pulled Drogon to a halt for a moment, scenting the air. When he didn't smell anyone near the borders he tipped back his head and announced their presence before continuing on in towards the mansion. Haven doubted anyone would protest their entry on their own, and he had a good feeling that his mother was at the manor. Perhaps tending the garden. He could picture that easily and it brought a smile to his face.

Princess was excited about the prospect of Anu that day. It had been quite some time since she had left Crimson Dreams in the first place, and though she had promised that she would, the young Chance woman had done no such thing. She felt badly about it, but she had been busy, and it was not a time-sensitive promise. She doubted that either leader could hold that against her, really. She suspected she was worrying about nothing, but she said a silent prayer when they left that Anu or Savina would not be upset that she had not already made good on her promise to visit them and the pack. There were not many to miss her there, admittedly. She had promised to visit Anu and Savina and the pack, but she could not think of anyone she was particularly close to in the pack.

She had taken special care to make herself look nice that day, though riding on Drogon's back was undoing some of the careful attention that she had paid to her golden-brown curls. Her dress was a soft, flimsy material, pale pink in color. They were going to share great news—she had to look nice. "She'll be happy, won't she?" she asked as she hugged her mate tightly, though she was already certain of the answer. Princess knew that Anu would be happy for them. She just needed that reassurance, she supposed. For Haven's mother to know and be happy for them was very important.

In the back fo her mind, the young Chance woman suspected that she knew why she was nervous to tell Anu, even though she hid the mild anxiety from Haven. Her own mother would not be happy for her. Her own mother would not be permitted to know. She had not seen Tokyo since December, and she did not intend to. It hurt, though. Everything about her parentage and family hurt. Princess had no one special to share this news with, and though she did not often think about her lack of a biological family, this was one of the times that it danced across her mind.

yayyyyyy!

The silver and tan accented wolf was tiring more easily, fatigue setting in just past mid day, but she was feeling more confident as time went on. The inexperienced female figured that it was better fortune the longer the beings inside her settled and grew, she would be less likely to loose them that way. The thought of it brought the emotional female to tears easily, and early in her pregnancy she cried for reasons unknown to her. Small things seemed to make the biggest of differences and were the hugest of upsets. But she felt as if that time had passed and she was feeling more content with her new physical state as each day passed. Beyond the pains of her body she had only suffered slightly. Telling Gabriel had been the hardest moment, for she had not see the face of her past young-lover for some time and that would be the most emotionally trying. But she would not worry, figuring the young woman was hiding from her as she seemed to do when their relationship had been intact. But, for now she would face one trying time before looking towards another. It was time to take care of herself, and the ones that she provided for.

Anu walked lightly from the garden, her place of sanctuary. The plants were not behaving as well as she wished without her tending fingers, and there were large patches of upturned earth where she had tilled the weeds away. Dirt covered her claws and paws, a little streaked across her nose as well where she had itched a scratch. Not satisfied with the status of the garden as a whole but content that at least a few weeds would wither away from her efforts the female’s form called for a break and perhaps the shade of a tree. The once lithe wolfess walked slowly out of the beds of flowers and plants and towards the Manor. In the distance she could hear the beating hooves of a horse, almost feeling it through the sensitive earth beneath her. Anu paused, waiting till the sight of whom she hoped would be approaching came into her grateful and bright view. The mother sat, the patch of shade large and rounded by the tall oak that had been planted near the mansion decades ago lush leaves. A smile could not be held back, and she gleamed from the short distance where the horse stopped. He was not alone, and Anu was not surprised to see that it was the young lovely female that Anu had pushed to leave the Dreaming lands a season past.

She wondered what he would think, about the unknowing did not smother her happiness to see him. To see them, together as she had hoped for the young lovers. She waited, silent, for him to approach the woman that had always claimed him as her favorite. She could have cried, and even felt the tears sting her eyes, the joy to see the Knight immediate and overwhelming.

Big Grin 300+

As they rode into the territory Princess soft question reached his ears. They were going at a leisurely pace and Drogon wouldn't go off track, so he spared a comforting glance back at her. "Of course she will. Don't worry." Haven knew that his mother would be overjoyed to hear this news. It was what she had always wanted for him, he knew. It was what she had wanted for them ever since she had found out there was a them. She wouldn't have urged Princess to leave Crimson Dreams and come to be with him if she hadn't wanted this. The Knight wished to give her a soft kiss, to wash away any lingering nerves, but unfortunately he could not at the current moment. Once they saw Anu though, he knew everything would be fine. She would greet them both with open arms and Princess would see that everything was going to be just fine. More than fine.

Slowly the mansion came into view and wave of nostalgia hit the Aatte. His childhood home. The large house whose halls and rooms had served him many hours of entertainment and exploration. Off to the side he knew there was the garden, and beyond that the patch where the pumpkins grew and ripened in the fall. Where he and his mother had played imaginary games of knights and dragons. There were still no dragons, but he had managed to grow up into a knight. The memories flooded him and made him even more anxious to see her. He clicked his tongue, urging Drogon on faster towards the large house.

They neared, and her form emerged from the side of the house, just as he had expected it would. She sat beneath the large oak tree and as they came up to it he pulled the stallion to a halt. Drogon bucked his head a little, giving a short whinny of greeting to the Dreaming woman. Haven expertly slid down from the mustang's back and offered Princess his hand to help her down. Once she stood beside him on the ground he squeezed her hand briefly before going over and wrapping his mother in a strong hug. "Hi mom," he said to her softly, the emotion welling in his chest.

Of course Anu would be happy to hear their news. Princess had already known what Haven was going to say, but she had needed to hear it, it seemed. Hearing him say those words did help ease her nerves, as she had expected, and she had no more qualms. "Okay, good," she breathed. She had known that everything would be fine and that this was a joyous occasion, but perhaps she had been masking her own mother issues by worrying about his mother's reaction. Anu would be happy for them, but she knew that if she went to tell Tokyo, then it would only end in tears for her. She was glad to have not seen her mother in months, and she did not intend to change that, but there it was in the back of her mind: her mother's overbearing presence. Princess wanted to free herself of it, but she did not know how she would do it.

As they approached and Anu came into her line of vision, all thoughts of her own wretch of a mother left her mind. She took Haven's hand, sliding gently off of Drogon's back, clinging to her mate's shoulder with her free hand for support in getting down. The young Chance woman stayed beside the horse for another moment as Haven went forward to hug his mother. It seemed appropriate that she let them have an extra moment together, as they were mother and son and she knew that they were close. She almost felt as if she was intruding on a family moment by going to be with them, but then she realized... She was family, too. That was why they had come today. Her smile brightened as she came to be with them. "Hello, Anu. How are you?" she asked, taking in the sight of her former leader. The extra weight around her stomach was visible, but she chose not to comment on it now. If it was simply extra weight gained, it was possible Anu would be offended, something she certainly wanted to avoid.

Her tail wagged behind her as her orange and white son approached her. She felt he was taller and larger each time that she lay eyes on him. It was certainly unlikely, but the span of time between his visits seemed to get longer and longer and time changed them all. It was good to him, and Anu smiled at her adoptive son with pure happiness gleaming from her bright cerulean gaze. Both wolves dismounted from the horse, Haven giving the lovely fey a helping gentlemanly hand down from the stallion’s back. The Dreamer caught the sweet exchange, smiling coyly at the two before the male came close to greet her with a embrace. Haven She spoke with warmth. It was quite a surprise that they had come to visit, but she had always told them both that they were always welcomed here. Whenever they wished it.

Her gaze looked over to the female who was also returning to her one time home. It was not always clear to the mother why they had both needed to leave Crimson Dreams and move away to find each other and be together. But her hopes that her family would return to her would never be fully diminished. Still if they were happy, it presided any other feeling that Anu might have stowed away in the back of her heart.

I’m well, She spoke, a smile given to Princess. Please come join me. She looked at both of them, wishing that they would sit beside her. The shade was inviting, cool when the bright Sun was warm. The thought that her own news was written all over her rounded form did not come to mind, too wrapped up in the fact that they had come to see her. She felt as if they had something to tell her, something that she already knew but still she wanted to hear it from them both. How is Cour des Miracles? She questioned, looking at Princess in particular, as she had not heard from her since she left to join them. Her demeanor was bright, eager to have good new passed along to her.

A little PP, as far as sequence of events goes 300+

Every time he came back to Crimson Dreams it was both strange and comforting. Comforting because there was, and always would be, a part of him that would consider this pack home. As long as the manor stood and as long as his mother and sister lived her, a part of him would always belong here too. It was strange too though, because so much had changed since he had left these lands and struck out looking for his new life. The large, important things never changed, but he noticed the small and subtle things that were altered. Maybe they hadn't really changed, maybe he just remembered things differently. None of that matter though as he embraced the woman that had always been his mother, regardless that they shared no blood. Even the guilt at not coming more often was washed away as she spoke his name.

Princess gave them a moment before walking over and asking Anu how she was. Haven was glad to hear she was well, and he pulled away smiling back at her. The son then took a seat beside her, giving a glance towards Princess. She was of course welcome to sit either by his mother or him, but of course the selfish part of him wanted her by his side always. He always felt better when she was right by him, especially after she had been attacked by the pale stranger. As he looked back to his mother though he finally noticed a difference in her. Her form was more filled out than usual, especially her stomach which was rounded somewhat. A quizzical look came to his face, but his mother's question soon diverted his attention, for the moment at least.

The Knight knew that she was asking the question of Princess more than himself, so he stayed quiet and allowed her to answer. When she had finished he looked over to her and smiled warmly before turning back to Anu. "Mom, we came here to tell you something," he said, pausing as he reached out to grasp his woman's hand. "Princess and I are mates now, officially." He looked joyfully at her, waiting to see the happiness and approval that his words were bound to evoke.

She knew that Haven and his adoptive mother were very close. For quite some time, she had been envious of this, and perhaps she still was. Once upon a time, she had been close to her mother, but she had realized soon enough that their relationship had been a horrible one. Still, knowing how terrible of a woman her mother was, Princess wished she still had her in her life, in a twisted, hidden way. The young chance woman would never vocalize this desire, but she wanted a mother. She always had wanted one that honestly and truly cared.

After a moment for them to be alone together, she sat with them, though of course she sat closer to Haven than to Anu when completing the triangle. It was not a concious decision, but something she did purely because she wanted to, deep down. Princess did not like being away from him, even if only for a little while. Suddenly, she felt very shy. Haven had been adament that Anu would be happy for them, but the nagging fear that she might not lingered. Such a fear was illogical—Anu had been the one to urge her to go to Cour des Miracles to be with him—but she suspected it would remain until proven otherwise.

"Cour des Miracles has been nice. I miss Crimson Dreams, but I am happy there," she answered. It may have been the first time that she had vocalized her initial longing for the pack of Dreamers, but that was fine. Princess had loved it here, but her place was in the Miracles pack now. Golden eyes practically sparkled as Haven spoke their main purpose in coming to visit. Anu would know how happy they both were now, surely, and Princess thanked her for that. Without Anu's help, she may not have ever gathered the courage to go to Cour des Miracles as she had.

pouncing on this reply like a rabid puma...rawr!

Everyone had their mistakes and Anu was not immune to such faults. The female could not count how many things she wished to take back, the things that she would have liked to do over. Haven was one of her successes. A mother was able to take pride in her offspring’s achievements, to almost take them as her own. His rank in the Cours pack, his moral attitude, his ability to love. Anu could borrow those achievements at times, fill her heart with warmth in knowing that she had been part of his development, part of his success. It was impossible for her to look at him and not see the small pup that wanted to kill dragons and rescue damsels in distress.

Princess answered her question politely and with warmth. Anu smiled softly, happy that she had found sanctuary in her pack but also that she had been able to fit nicely beside her son. In her mind it was the rightful place for the pretty wolfess. She wouldn’t have been happy away from him, even it meant having the Dreamers as her pack mates. At times the world held only a single soul, the rest were merely secondary. It was nothing to be ashamed of, if the feelings and reasons were pure. We miss you, Anu responded as she spoke for the pack, but are so glad you are happy. her tone was filled with the normal honesty that Anu always portrayed. She was sincerely happy for her.

Haven’s voice drew her attention back to his face. News? I have something tell you too.She spoke as he did, but let her voice fall away as she read the look on his face. Her eyes widened slightly as her cheeks fell as her broad smile softened slightly. He did not seem uneasy, and the news that was about to come was nothing dreadful. But before she could guess he spoke of the wonderful partnership that the two had forged. It was impossible to not see it coming, for the time Anu had pushed Princess away and towards Haven and his pack she had hoped that such a thing would be the outcome of that event. Still Anu look from the orange tinged wolf to his new mate and felt tears come to her eyes. His success was hers, and so was his love. Never had Anu second guess his ability to love, or to commit, but she still took great joy in the fact that he had found someone that was right for him, someone that would make him happy. This was a wonderful day.

I’m so happy for you two she spoke, the tears still dancing in her eyes. She wouldn’t cry, Anu told herself as she inhaled deeply. Her emotions were so uncontrolled these days. Anu could hardly look Haven in the face without seeing him as the pup that had once asked her what love was, what it meant to with another in a physical way, she couldn’t help but see the innocent son she would always love. And here he was, grown up.

Her own news took a back seat to all of this. It was not happy and perfect as this pair were, and Anu forgot that she needed to even speak of it.

you mean a rabid cougar, right? *points at Anutitle* ;D 300+

He had always wanted to make her proud. Anu even more so than Naniko. Even before the truth of his parentage came to light, he had gravitated more towards the tawny mother than the ghostly hued one. As far as Haven was concerned, he might as well have been born from her womb. Even when he had found out that she held no actual genetic ties to him, it didn't matter. She had raised him. She had played with him and dried his tears. Above all else, she had always loved him. No matter what, he knew she always would. And he would always love her. If only Princess had had someone in her life that could have filled the void left by her mother. Maybe in time, she could adopt Anu at least partially into that role.

He could see the various and subtle transformations in his mother's face as he first said he had news to share, and then the brief pause, and then when his voice gave life to the truth that was between himself and Princess. He saw the tears blossom in her perfectly blue eyes, but he didn't have to wait for her speak to know that they were happy tears. The boy knew that she had always wanted this for him. To find someone he loved and who loved him back. The tears didn't fall to wet her cheeks, but as he approval rang forth he couldn't help but to press his nose against her cheek. He nuzzled against her soft fur, taking in her scent, as she often had in his life. Haven had expected it to be an emotional announcement for her, but not quite so strong as it was.

After a few moments he pulled away, smiling strongly back at her. Silence lingered for a moment longer before previous words tickled at his mind. Those, combined with his mother's different appearance were enough for him to break from this moment and ask, "You said you had something to say too?" The Aatte hoped it was good news, that nothing was wrong with her. Haven wouldn't be able to bear it if something was the matter with her.

Princess was feeling far too elated to feel much by way of jealousy at their joyful exchange. Her life had taken a turn for the better when she had left her mother and moved to Crimson Dreams, but now she could not even imagine going back to that life. Cour des Miracles had changed her, but not nearly as much as Haven had. He'd had an immense impact on her life during their first meeting, and he had continued to affect her greatly as each and every day passed. There was nothing she wanted to change in her life, and she was glad to see that she had Anu in her life. Having a mother of her own would be nice, but she did not need one. The gray-hued woman would be in her life, and Anu was a better mother than she could have ever asked for. She secretly hoped the feeling was returned by the woman who had helped her so much.

Princess slipped her hand into Haven's next to her when he pulled away from his mother, delicately lacing her fingers in his. It was a small gesture, but she smiled at the feeling of his stronger and larger hand holding hers. All her earlier worries had passed quickly, and she was heartened by the knowledge that Anu was so happy for them. Now, though, she was very curious to know what it was that Anu had wanted to share with Haven, news of her own. Her eyes travelled over the form of her former subleader, noting the changes she had seen earlier. The young Chance woman thought she knew what Anu was going to tell them, but she did not want to ask and be wrong. That would be embarassing, certainly. "I want to know," she said with a smile, not wanting to remain entirely silent during the whole visit.

lulzz!

She looked at the happy couple, and saw everything that they could have in the future. Long years of happiness, plenty of puppies to keep their legacy and names alive. It was important to bring life into the word, to be able to guide those lives into a world that was moral and peaceful. Anu saw the wonders and greatness that could be brought through this union, the happiness as always was the most important. The Course lands were good to both of them, changing them for the better. If it could not be within her own pack Anu was glad that they were where they were, so their love and lives could flourish so wildly.

Her eyes closed as Haven touched her, pressing into the gesture that they had shared so many times before. The female was wrapped up in the news that she needed to think again about what she had wished to tell them both. Oh, her mind thought and became hesitant and nervous as both sets of eyes watched her. But it was good news, and something she needed to tell them. Yes She spoke, her smile falling only slightly but not being lost completely.

Anu looked to Princess and found that she felt no unease because she was here, it was Haven that made the mother to be hesitant. Her eyes became soft at the other’s voice and she wondered if the fey could have guess. She was showing, even just a bit and females always had a bit more insight to one another’s change then a male might. I’m pregnant. She spoke, as lightly as she could with her eyes falling to Haven’s for his reaction. There was no great worry, but she felt the same jitters that he had when speaking his big news. She was happy, and she hoped he could see that past the current uncertainty.

Cue Haven brain meltdown XD 300+

As Princess slipped her fingers in between his own as he pulled back away from his mother he looked over to her again, smiling. He saw no more nervousness in her, and was glad that whatever fears she might have held had been put to rest for good. There had never been a doubt in his mind that Anu would be happy for them. To him, it didn't matter that none of their birth parents were in their lives to tell this news to. As far as the Aatte was concerned, Anu was and really always had been the only parent he needed. As long as he had her, and her approval, he would be happy and content. Princess would probably never hold so close a bond with his adoptive mother as he did, but he did sincerely hope that they could be close and that his mate would find Anu someone she could confide in. They were mates now, and shared everything, but he knew that she needed a strong female influence in her life that he would never be able to provide. It was his hope that Anu could give her that though, to an extent.

Given the extreme happiness of the previous moment, he couldn't help but notice the slight falter in his mother's joy when he asked her about the news that she had spoken of. A seed of worry was quickly planted in his chest. While she didn't seem particularly upset, something wasn't entirely right either and his mind began running through all the various things that it could possibly be. The possibilities were endless though. Since he wasn't living here anymore and didn't know what happened daily in Crimson Dreams there were many things that might have happened since he had last seen his mother. The words that were soon uttered though hadn't fallen into his calculations for a minute and his face changed to an expression of dumbfounded confusion, his mind having gone blank.

Pregnant? How could that be? Well, he knew how it must have happened, but it didn't make sense. To his knowledge, Anu wasn't interested in men, and immediately a spark of anger was lit inside of him. Had someone violated her? Forced themselves upon her? Oh, if that were the case he would kill them. Hang them from a tree and let the crows peck out their eyes and rip the flesh from their bones. It took a substantial amount of Haven's self control to keep from flying into a rage at the idea. Taking a deep breath, he looked at her with deep concern in his eyes, his voice shaky. "H-How? Did...someone hurt you? Because if they did, I swear to god..." His hand not being held by Princess balled into a fist. If they had, he would make them pay.

300+ words.

This visit was a joyous one all around, one that Princess had been excited for, even if she had been nervous initially. Haven had been right; Anu was happy for them. At the same time, though, her expression seemed to falter and the young Chance woman did not understand why. Anu was happy for them, so it was not related to that. The only thing that she could think of was that the older woman was nervous to tell them her own news, and she would soon understand why. The relationship that Princess had seened between the mother and son pair was a loving one, and she knew that neither one would do something to puset the other intentionally. She could not understand why Anu seemed so nervous.

Princess watched Anu's face intently, waiting to hear the news she had for Haven—no, for them. She was a part of their family now, too. When Anu finally spoke, Princess' smile widened. She knew it! Before she could express her own feelings, though, she felt Haven tense beside her. Turning a quizzacl eye to him, Princess rested her other hand on the wrist of the hand she was holding, hoping she might be able to ease some of his tension. Anu was happy about her news, so she did not think it warranted such frustration, but she did not know the situation. All that mattered was that Anu was happy, right?

"Anu, that is wonderful. Isn't it, Haven?" she asked tentatively, hoping that he would see that it was good. Anu was happy. He would be soon, too, she hoped. "When will they be here?" Princess had been able to see the bulge aroud Anu's middle, but she was not able to tell how far along she was.

Anu feels like a whore! DX

Anu had worried that there would be a backlash with the news that she wanted to share, and not just with Haven. Her preference was known by most that knew her, and she had never been the type to have suitors running to her door. Her relationship with the Inferni alpha was only really known by Savina, but what her Commander understood; it was a friendship. And Anu did not believe that she was deceiving anyone by calling it that. It was, if it could be placed in a simple category, a friendship. She could not consider him a lover, for the kind hearted wolfess that mean she needed to truly love him. And she could not place that upon the doggish wolf, for she did not think he loved her.

Haven had every right to be upset, his ignorance of the situation allowed him to be unsure and to worry for her. The blue-eyed wolf placed herself in his shoes as those words came form his mouth. Refusing to be embarrassed by her one time intimate moment with Gabriel she remained calm in his anger, her tone following this hope to reassure him that there was no need to worry. No Haven, it is nothing like that. She looked at his jade eyes, not wanting him to be angry.

Her calm veneer cracked slightly, sadness breaking through ever so slightly. This litter brought her more joy then she had had since his birth, he had to know that meant a lot. But explaining her actions to her son and his new mate was not something that the Lt. General was prepared to do. But she tried all the same, Some things happen unexpectedly.

She could see Princess hoping to ease Haven, and Anu appreciated her efforts. She would hate for him to be angry with her, hate for him to resent those she would soon bring into the world. Not for some time now, it is still early. She spoke when Princess questioned, looking back to the orange hued Knight. She was still in the early stages, the barely moved and she was still queasy at times.

He's trying to be a good boy, I swear! D: He just needs a moment, maybe one of them can go talk to him? :x 300+

Out of the corner of his eye he saw Princess look at him after he spoke, and felt her other hand on his wrist, but he couldn't help what he was feeling and he didn't take his eyes off of his mother. Maybe it was because of his father, what he had done to his mother, but rape was the first conclusion that he had come to. The idea that that could have happened to Anu made him sick and he had already started plotting to avenge her without her even confirming or denying the way that her pregnancy had come into being. Haven had a bit of a savior complex and he was particularly vicious in the defense of those he loved as he loved his mother. It would be the same if it were Mati, or of Princess. It was only a little earlier that his mate had barely escaped that fate.

Thankfully, it was soon denied that anything so horrible had happened to her and some of the tension was allow to leave his muscles, his shoulder visibly relaxing. Still, if it wasn't rape...that meant that she had willingly been with some man and he honestly wasn't sure what to think of that. The Knight shifted uncomfortably, not entirely willing to think of Anu in that light. It had been one thing, finding out Naniko had gone and made herself a new family, but his heart was much more connected to his tawny mother. He didn't like the idea of someone being with her in that way, even if it wasn't unwanted. She mentioned the unexpected manner in which things can happen and he could feel her own embarrassment. Haven knew better than most what she meant. After all, his first encounter with Princess hadn't been at all what he would have expected of himself.

More than that though, he felt the same sting he had felt when he had first met Rio. In his head he knew that this wasn't a way to replace him, but his feelings could often be illogical and he couldn't define the myriad of feelings running through him. He sat quiet, eyes averted to the ground as his mother and mate exchanged words. He wanted to smile, to tell her he was happy, because he was. He couldn't though, there were too many other things covering up and smothering that happiness he should have felt. "Yeah, it's wonderful," he responded somewhat flatly. Then he rose to his feet, a look of embarrassment and shame on his face. "I just...I need a minute..." His feet carried him a little distance off, hoping to sort out his emotions.
