The Quiet Game

Alrighty here it is, Parkers just catching her breath for a moment then she'll be ready to play

It was a whole new day, and yet again Parker was off exploring Haven Manor. She was further away from the room she shared with her family than she had been the previous day when she had gone to look for her mama, all the way in the spacious entryway of the manor. She had made her way slowly down the stairs, dragging her stuffed lamb with her all the way. Ever since she had found her mother carrying the fluffy white plushie yesterday Parker had not let it out of her sight. She had let her siblings look at it, but only for a little bit. She hadn't wanted Artemis and Silvano to hurt it, though her worries were more about Artemis than Silvano. Her sister was always so loud, so rough, and a fairly annoying person to be around on occasion. Of course, Parker still loved her, they were family after all, but she and her sister were polar opposites in so many ways that it was necessary to seek solitude on occasion.

Her brother, Silvano, on the other hand was not nearly so talkative. To Parker he seemed more thoughtful and quiet, not as quiet as her, but definitely quieter than Artemis. For the quiet, cinnamon streaked pup, her brother was a bit easier to get along with, though he almost always seemed to have Artemis in tow or rather the other way around. She loved both of her siblings, they were her two of her closest friends, not that she really had any others.

Today though, it was just Parker and her lamb. She had yet to think of a name for the fluffy creature, for the most part she just thought of it as her lamb for that was what mama had called it. Why give it any other name? Mama always knew best and daddy hadn't offered another suggestion so Parker thought of it as just that, 'her lamb.' So as she finished dragging her lamb to the center of the entry way Parker unfortunately realized something, she was now very tired. Dragging the stuffed toy, which was only a bit smaller than her, down the hallway, down the stairs, into the entryway had been hard work for the young Sadira pup. She didn't want to rest, though. She'd just accomplished a great task, getting down the stairs without mama or daddy having to help. Yet despite her desire to revel in her achievement, her tiny body was just tuckered out for the moment. Doubtless her energy would return, it always did, but for now the cinnamon and white pup couldn't help but plop herself down right on top of her lamb, little pink tongue hanging from her open mouth as she panted. She'd rest for a second. Hopefully the adults would not find her and put her back to bed thinking she was sleepy. She just had to rest, then she'd be back to her usual, smiling self, ready to explore this new part of the mansion.

My puppy posting may be bad 8D;

Artemis was really hard to handle sometimes. It was true. It really was. Silvano loved her a lot, but she did wear on him a bit even with all of his moments of absentmindedness. Today, she managed to coerce him to play some game she invented, doing this and that and him doing something else to appease her emotions. Mostly he just followed blindly, not really caring what the other puppy thought of him. Okay, that was a lie. He did not want to get on her bad side, but it was so hard to when he wanted to ignore some of the things she did and made him do. This time, she was really rambunctious, while he kind of sat around and followed her with less enthusiasm. Every passing moment meant that she was getting more tired and he was more awake. Then, when she wanted the both of them to take a nap (Parker had slipped away somehow). Silvano pretended to fall asleep, and only when Arty was asleep did he slip away as well.

He did not call out for his missing sister; she would not answer him. She did not speak yet, and the Sadira did not know why. He asked her a few times but got no words in response. Oh well, she was less aggravating than Artemis so he paid no mind to her silence. It was a bit hard, though, to talk to Parker, since he himself was not the most conversational of siblings. At least they could play around a little bit with one another. But first, where was Parker? Silvano went down the hall, searching for her. He chanced a glance down the flight of stairs and saw her resting at the bottom. His little tail wagged lightly as he scooted up to the edge of the landing. So this was his second attempt at getting down the stairs on his own. Silvano managed to waggle his rear down the whole staircase on his own without anyone having to carry him down the stairs. How had Parker gotten her lamb down the stairs as well as herself?

By the time he reached the bottom of the stairs, the Sadira was a little bit tired, but apparently not as tired as Parker. "Parker," he whispered, trying to keep from getting the attention of the adults and Artemis. "Parker, you okay?" Silvano trotted up to her, nudging her lightly with his nose, careful to avoid the lamb. She really loved that lamb like no other so the boy knew better. Artemis, though, he wondered if she would do the same. Sometimes she was rough. Really rough. But now, it was just them two, Parker and Silvano, and that was completely okay.

A few minutes passed with the tiny cinnamon streaked pup resting her eyes for a short power nap. She had not intended to fall all the way to sleep, but she had nonetheless so there was nothing she could do about it. At the moment she was just recharging her puppy batteries. Fortunately, the first person to happen upon her was not an adult who would likely have taken her all the way back upstairs to the bedroom, but her brother. When he whispered her name, the young Sadira stirred, gold eyes flickering open, followed by a rather intense yawn. Silvano had helped to nudge her awake, and when he asked her if she was alright, the tiny, sunshine pup turned to face him, nodding groggily.

Slowly but surely, her delicate limbs found their strength again and she picked herself up stretching each one of them as she went. She was awake again, and ready for adventure. Turning around, she leaned over to nuzzle her brother, a gesture of thanks for waking her up. Then, she stood there, wagging her tail excitedly, one paw placed on her lamb as she looked from her brother to all of the hallways that branched off from the main entryway of the manor. Which one to choose? After all she had come down here to explore, and now she had Silvano to play with too. The quiet pup was not entirely sure what to do. Maybe Silvano could decide. With that thought she turned and faced him entirely, plopping down onto her haunches, head cocked to the side inquisitively. What did he want to do?

It seemed like the girl was just sleeping, and the Sadira smiled, wagging his tail as she came back to life. She did not say a word, but her motions were more than enough to tell him what his sister meant. Parker nuzzled him, and he nudged her back, tongue lolling. She had a paw on the lamb, the thing she dragged around everywhere. Silvano blinked at it for a moment, then looked up at his sister's look. The lamb was easy enough to ignore; he had gotten used to seeing it simply everywhere the girl went. It was like an extra limb she had with her. She glanced down the halls, then back at him and he blinked back at her. Excitement was all over her face; she wanted to go exploring. Nodding, the Dreamer quickly peeked to see no one was around. "We'll go on our own adventure, Parker!" Despite his hushed tones, he was excited too; no Artemis to tell them where to go; they could go where they wanted.

He stepped around oddly, shifting his feet around a bit. A look down all the halls, and the Sadira nudged his sister and jerked his muzzle to the right. The quieter the two of them were, the more time they would have to explore. Silvano lopped off in that direction, hearing his tiny nails click against the floor. No one could hear that right? This really was an adventure; they had be as careful as they could, so neither of their parents would find them and catch them. He did not know what their older siblings would do, probably take them back too. They could make a game out of this, couldn't they? That was Artemis' forte, but he could do it too. Looking over his shoulder, he paused to see if Parker was coming.

The tiny cinnamon and white girl watched as her brother surveyed the area, making the decision about where to go. His excited announcement of their own adventure made her tail wag eagerly. She'd follow her brother anywhere he led. He seemed to be better at this whole adventuring thing than she did. Perhaps that was due to the fact that he had a bit more experience, having gone exploring with Artemis a lot. For a moment Parker's golden gaze fell to her lamb, only to feel her brother nudging her and directing her towards the hallway to the right. He'd made his decision, perfect!

As her brother started off down the hall, the young Sadira stood up, grabbed her lamb and scampered after him dragging her plush toy as she went. She had discovered the most efficient way of toting her lamb from room to room was to hold it by one of it's hind legs or even its tail. At first she had debated in her head if such an act would be unkind to the small plush, but she quickly reminded herself that her lamb was not alive it was just a pretend lamb toy. So, naturally a toy did not have any feelings and she could drag it around any way she pleased, although she did try to be gentle with it. Her white tipped tail wagged behind her, held high over her back as she followed devotedly behind Silvano revelling in the fact that she had him all to herself for once, without Artemis there to direct everything. Parker felt somewhat guilty about going on an adventure without her sister, but since Artemis had not come looking for them yet Parker assumed she was just busy doing something else. This eased her mild guilt, letting her mind focus fully on the task at hand. They had to explore as much as possible without getting caught and taken back to their room. The cinnamon and white girl knew that it was only a matter of time before someone found them, for there were many people living in the mansion. However, it was all part of the game seeing how long she and Silvano could explore undetected.

Sorry Shadow D: this somehow got lost on my list + I have no idea what the layout of the mansion is.

Artemis would create a kind of fuss if she had known what they were up to; she certainly complained a whole lot whenever the two of them would nap and she wanted another adventure. Sometimes she would pretend to sleep, but then she would fall asleep herself and then wake up annoyed, but energetic. Silvano always was happy for a nap; it took his mind to places his waking mind was unable to conjure up. It was like a story their parents told them but amplified into different realms with so many different possibilities. But the things he hated most were the nightmares that sometimes came up, like on darker evenings or when thunder boomed and lightening flashed through the skies.

Silvano lowered himself closer to the ground, edging toward the wall of the hallway. He turned about to watch his sister amble up with her plush in two. Sticking his paw in front of his lips, he motioned for quiet. Though, considering that it was Parker he was with, there was little else he was going to get from her. Sometimes he wondered what she would say when she first chose to say it; Silvano hoped to be there to hear her. Maybe it was because he felt it was a privilege of his, being her older brother. It was his right, wasn't it?

He pressed against the wall, noticing the open door before him. Sniffing at it, he tried to detect a new scent. Well, even if he found one, it would not have mattered; he was not yet completely able to tell what he smelled. Jutting his head past the frame, he peered in, squinting in the oddly dim light. From what he could tell, it was a small room, with shelves in it. And things were hanging from them. What was that? Silvano slipped inside, hugging the frame as best as he could. He figured if he moved quickly and tried to be out of sight, no one would spot him. As he turned the corner, he backed up to wait for Parker.

Golden orbs focused intently on the path she and Silvano were taking through the hallway. Hugging the wall was obviously their best bet if they wanted to stay as out of sight as possible. If anyone came out of one of the rooms, they would be less likely to see them huddled up against the wall than out in the middle of the hallway. To Parker's surprise, Silvano slowed and crouched even lower as they neared an open room. The reason quickly became clear as she realized he wanted to investigate the room, but he needed to check if anyone was in their first. There was obviously no one in the room for Silvano quickly scooted inside the room, and the cinnamon and white girl was only too eager to follow.

What in heaven's name was in this room? It sure smelled interesting. And what were those things hanging from the shelves? With her brow knit in a curious frown the petite Sadira girl turned to her brother before slowly inching her way closer to one of the shelves, hoping that her nose would help her figure out what those things were. Golden orbs focused on that strange stuff hanging from the shelves, and her nose did indeed detect a strange scent, but unfortunately it didn't seem familiar at all. There was nothing in her memory to try and piece together the identity of this oddity. So, still puzzled Parker backed up to where Silvano still stood, hoping he might have thought of an answer to the question they were both thinking. What in the world is on those shelves?
