ooc stuff goes hurr.

Liliana followed Naryu her tail wagging the whole time, she didn’t pay much attention but she knew she would get to see something interesting. When she heard what the place they were going was she became even more curious, and couldn’t wait to see what there was. She followed as the vineyards soon disappeared and then she was looking at a huge mountain…. Or hill… of different sorts of objects, then as they moved in further she could tell it was not just one but many mounds full of different things. She was shocked by the sheer size of the place, and the smell, it wasn’t pleasing either, but it just smelled old to her. She looked around wondering how humans could figure out what to do with all this stuff, maybe they couldn’t and that’s why it was all here.

Wow, there’s all sorts of stuff here.

She said stating the obvious as she moved in and picked up a rusted aluminum can. There was so much stuff that she couldn’t figure out where to look first.

Nayru nodded at Liliana’s words, which were almost an understatement. There was all sorts of stuff here, more than one could imagine. With a flashed smile and a wag of her tail Nayru led the way towards the first mound of trash, never pausing to consider that Liliana might not want to get so close and personal with the dump. The cow patterned girl would admit that the stench was not pleasant, and that sometimes the scent followed her home but Nayru always went to the harbor after a visit at the dump and let the salty water rinse her fur. She’d rather smell of the sea than of the wasteland. Still, to pilfer through the mounds of past human belongings never phased her and so up the first hill of trash she went.

"If you find something you really want, you could have it. No one cares about this stuff anyway." Nayru came up to an empty refrigerator on it’s back, the door missing. It was filled with dirt and mold and Nayru did not even wrinkle her face at the mass of decaying matter collected in it. Buried in all the gunk and garbage were treasures, or so she believed, if only she could find them.

Liliana did noticed the smell but she had an uncanny way of ignoring the smell. Her mother had been to many taverns in the west, that had some pretty nasty smells, but it was one of the few ways her mother was employed, she had to let herself be known. Liliana ignored the smell and looked around, she knew she wasn’t going to dig too deep in this mess, she was a bit squeamish about some things here and there. For now she would look. She saw old discarded food wrappings, why did they need such things, weren’t they powerful enough to just hunt when they wanted to, she couldn’t read so the markings on some of the things didn’t make any sense to her, so she walked behind Nayru. There was so much to see though, and it wouldn’t take one sitting to find everything in this huge mess pile. There were things long decomposed, then there were things that looked as though they would never do so, she saw some clothes too that seemed to actually keep over time, but they were so soiled that Liliana doubted they could be saved. She saw many other old human things but nothing she could use, not now at least.

I can’t believe the humans threw this much out, it seems as though they just didn’t care about what they actually had!

She said, and found an old plastic doll in the rubble, it was broken, but she could see that it once had been whole and loved. This is what a human looked like? She’d seen paintings, yes, although she could harly believe those. Putting the doll back in its resting spot she looked around. She spotted something that caught her eyes, and moved to it. It had little shine to it as it was covered in much, but she pulled out a butter knife. She tilted her head, wondering what it was used for, it looked like a knife, but … it didn’t look like it could cut anything.

These humans were strange.

Was all she could say as she wiped the gunk off the knife, it had a nice design but the weather had done much to the item. It hadn’t rusted but there were scratches and stains on it that she doubted could be washed off.

"Yes." Nayru nodded at the comment, it was an overstatement really. The humans had been strange and Nayru at times felt obsessed with their strangeness. She could and would go for hours sorting through their rubbish, just to learn a little about what their life was like. Luckily for her Dahlia de Mai had all a plethora of human artifacts, more than any of the other packs had claim to. She didn’t want Liliana to think that the wasteland was such a large part of Dahlia de Mai, and so as soon as the girl had finished gazing upon the dump Nayru would lead her the long way out of Dahlia, through Wolfville and Berwick and past building after building. Churchs, schools, homes and whatever else the humans had needed were there. Although Liliana had not seen any of the natural wonders of Dahlia, such as Nereid or Splunker’s Heaven, Nayru did not think of this. Liliana had been so intrigued by the vineyards that it seemed man made places were of more an interest than the raw, natural landscapes that had managed to slip by untouched by human hands.

"Humans were very strange, but then again, maybe we are too." Wasn’t it strange to be so caught up in a fallen civilization that they sort their there trash? Didn’t many luperci imitate and do exactly as humans had done years before? Well, maybe that was how it was, the dominate species of the world would always be strange, intelligent allowing them to move further and further from nature if they so wished. "If we could.. if we had the means to make and use all this stuff sometimes I think we would, just because we can." Her voice was a little sad, staring at all the garbage. The only thing that had saved the humans from themselves was the extinction of their race. Perhaps one day it would be that way for the luperci as well.

Liliana listened to Naryu, she picked up an old rusty spring after tossing the knife back down and was playing with it as the pup talked, she was so smart… smarter than Liliana, she spoke wisely enough that she saw the whole picture, and when Liliana thought about it she was right. They were strange, back then before the humans cast themselves away, wolves and dogs walked on all fours, now many of them, including herself could change into bipedal creatures… a thought that never struck her till now… she was hoping they wouldn’t go the same way as the humans did.

Perhaps we would find a better means to use all of it rather than toss it on the ground to rot… I don’t know though… maybe you are right.

She said thinking hard, would she use this stuff? Well maybe some of it, she didn’t see what use plastic had, at least most of the plastic that was here, still decomposing from the last time humans had used it twenty years ago.. It was a strange thought… and the young wolf put it in her head, she looked over as she let the spring bounce out of her hand,

Would you use it if you could?

Liliana asked curiously. She was sure she’d get asked the same question and she knew a good enough answer. If she wasn’t asked, she at least would be able to answer herself. Some of the things that she saw here had made life for humans easier, quicker, less of a hassle. Even an old wagon… that was something she’d use. If it broke she wouldn’t just toss it like this old thing, she’d find someone who could fix it. But she was still unsure, she wouldn’t know until it happened, and she doubted such a thing would ever happen in her lifetime.

Short, short, sorry! am running out of steam.

Nayru’s eyes wandered the expanse of the landfill, uncovered and exposed to the open sky. Had the humans filled it in than perhaps much of the paper and other less permanent waste wouldn’t have decomposed as it had, leaving patches of dark soil amongst the rubbish that took too long to decompose. "I don’t know, it depends on how great the use for any one item is." Whether she would accept items newly made, or even items dug out from garbage dumps. Nayru owned nothing and so far she had gotten along just fine without anything. Food and shelter, that was all anyone really needed and you didn’t need things for that. Despite her living in the shell of a human house, she knew that a dug out cave would work just as well as sleeping out under the stars.

Nayru turned to Liliana, the contemplation gone from her voice. It was too heavy a thought to linger on it too long and Nayru’s childishness reared again as she decided that she had had enough of adult, depressing topics. "Let’s go, for one thing, the smell certainly is far from pleasant here." Nayru thought how the scent would cling to her, even from their short visit and the knowledge of the waiting waters at Ila harbor cheered her. The harbor was a far more pleasant place to think about than the dump.

OOC: Yeah I’m running low on the steam as well ^^;.

Liliana nodded at Naryu’s remark, it was true, she had been thinking the same thing seconds before, this really was a wise young pup, she wondered what she would be like grown up. Much smarter than Liliana was that was a sure thing in the older wolf’s head. She’d learned so little when living with her parents. She didn’t know it until they were gone and she joined Aniwaya. The young wolf already known more than Liliana did, it made Lili feel slightly inferior, but she was determined to catch up and learn what was needed for a world full of Luperci. At the mention of the smell Liliana finally noticed that her own nose was burning from the smell of old rotting things, she nodded, and tried to forget what she was smelling. Now that she was it was rather hard not to be a little overwhelmed.

I must agree with you there

She said, she wanted the pup in the front to lead her, although she was feeling her stay might be too long and the pup would want other things to do than to escort the wolf dog all over Dahlia.

Let’s wrap it up? One more post from each of us after this? If Liliana wants to swimming with Nayru we can just assume they do and then Nayru takes her to the borders after and if not straight to the borders for ya!

Nayru was pleased to hear that the woman didn’t wish to spend anymore time at the garbage dump and Nayru dutifully turned tail and begun to lead the way out of the area. Although she would had preferred to swim at the harbor, but Nereid and the shore by St. Pepin’s were closer. Closer both to them and to the border that Liliana would eventually have to make her way back to and so Nayru’s headed south. They would pass over the cliffs of Nereid, and so at least Liliana would see the breathtaking view of the fifty foot drop into the water below. She would know that Dahlia wasn’t all abandoned buildings and piles of garbage.

"Would you like to go for a swim with me? The water will rinse the smell off you." Nayru smiled and kept moving, the garbage dump now well behind them and the landscape of Nereid rising before them. Nayru’s heart swelled with pride and joy at this sight, for truly it was one of the most beautiful areas she could think of, despite being nestled not too far from the dump. The could even swim there, if the tide was low, the beach beneath the cliffs would be accessible, if only for a short period of time.

ooc Sounds good to me ^^.

Liliana followed the pup as they left the dump where treasures unknown lay. It was too bad she didn’t find anything there. She would have loved to bring a souvenir with her back to Aniwaya. At the mention of swimming she smiled, maybe there was something there she could keep that would be a nice reminder of today. It was a great day so far. She would have said that pups couldn’t teach anyone anything new… until today.

I’d like that, I don’t think my pack mates would take kindly to smelling the waste on my fur

Then she looked up to where they were going and was taken a back, it was definitely beautiful, and a sight she had yet to see. The world just dropped off, and she could see across the bay, she couldn’t tell where it was, but just the sight itself was breath taking. Nothing was boring for this pup. Liliana had never had a boring puppy hood either, but she’d always went around populated areas so something like this just made her want to stay forever. Liliana kept quiet this time, but her awe was clearly on her face.

Weeee. Hey have a crap post! And we are DONE.

Nayru smiled as she noted Liliana’s expression. So the woman appreciated Nereid as well, this put Nayru at ease and made her decision. They would swim at the hidden beach, until the tide started to turn and they had to climb back up the cliffs or be drowned at least. Picking the way, Nayru begun to descent to the sea, taking the safest trail that led down the high point of the cliffs to the sandy beach below. Glancing over her shoulder, Nayru wagged a tail to Lili, glad that the woman had decided to swim with her.

Once reaching the bottom Nayru exhaled deeply, as if a great weight was lifted off her. They had toured nearly the whole west coast of Dahlia de Mai and the day was growing later and later. Still, this did not faze Nayru, for she was home, but knew that Liliana would need to return to her own pack soon. Letting the water wash over them and rinse out the stench, the girl turned to the woman, a smile that spoke a thousand words. Perhaps it had been a long day, but it had been a day well spent and Nayru was sure that she’d see the woman again.
