Cerulean was growing impatient. Misery's slightly slower steps were preventing him from reaching the springs as quickly as possible, and he was growing annoyed with his mother. In the same way that any child becomes aggravated by their parent (something that occurs vice versa far more often), Cerulean wanted it fixed. Now. He did not want to consider that perhaps he was running and that his mother was walking, for that was irrelevant. He wanted to get the the Springs now and he wanted Mum to hurry up now.

"Mooooom," he whined pitifully, "let's go, I wanna go simming, in the water!" Like any respectable mermaid, he needed to be near the water, swimming in it, preferably. All this walking was making his legs hurt, and he wanted to play. It was taking far too long, and he could feel tears welling up in his eyes. He sniffled quietly and shook his head. He wanted to go, go go!

Unfortunately, the thought that it was winter and that the ice would be frozen never crossed his mind.
