The night sky was vibrantly clear, stars bright burst of silver against the backdrop of a velvety navy blue sky. The rain had let up earlier in the evening, and by ten-o-clock, even the thick, looming clouds had cleared. Kansas could see the last remains of the day's cloud cover, scattered wisps of dark gray like the down feathers of a young bird. The pale werewolf stepped onto the porch and hoisted his satchel securely around his lean shoulder, trying to ignore the distinctive clinks of glass bottles.

He moved down the steps of the porch and into the night, rounding the back of the mansion in only a few quick strides. There, his stallion was waiting for him. The azure-coated horse had the uncanny ability to know when he was needed, never failing to appear behind the mansion when Kansas wished to see him. There was an unmistakable connection between them. A soft nicker sounded, but Kansas could see well in the darkness and knew exactly where his horse was. He reached into his bag and grabbed a handful of wild strawberries, holding them out for Lexington to take from his palm.

It was almost time for Jazper to meet him at Rabbit Lake. Kansas didn't know how the dark male would react to Lexington, but it didn't matter enough. The ghostly boy was certain that he wanted the horse to come with them. They could easily have gone to Rabbit Lake for the night without, as there wasn't much to carry — but for some reason, Kansas thought he would be more comfortable among others with the blue-gray beast present. He was already nervous about how the night would proceed. After all, there was alcohol in his pack. Sighing without a sound, Kansas mounted his horse with one quick, fluid motion and nudged it into motion. The cool night breeze slicked his fur — he rode the stallion as fast as possible whenever he could. They were across Crimson Dreams and at the lake shore in a matter of minutes. The Colonel dismounted and set his bag on the ground, flopping down beside it with his legs crossed to wait.

It had been awhile since the boys had gotten together. In fact, they hadn't done anything as just guys since Moose was around! Which was intolerable really, considering he had left the pack shortly after joining, one of the wanderers that only stayed for a short time in Crimson Dreams. It wasn't too rare that they had the odd stranger stay a couple months only to leave again. Ghita had been one of those travelers, or wanderers to be more exact. The type of wolf that did not see a need to stick around a pack. Sure family was all well and good but they needed adventure. Luckily Jazper had screwed up her plans and managed to force her to sit still long enough to have a family and a mate. They had even been thinking about having more pups, an idea that would send the Scottish boy over the moon.

For now though, it was time for a boys night out. It had taken some convincing to get his Italian love to agree to watch Aro and Sophia while he went out drinking for a night in the bush, but his charm had won her over yet again, a silent victory for the father. He had been worried that the rain would prevent them from having a nice night away from the girls but lucky for them the rain had finally stopped, leaving a sky full of bright stars and a freshness in the air. Walking down the porch steps Jazper heard the clink of bottles hitting bottles in his backpack, as well as the gentle hit against his chest from the flask of whiskey he had already been taking gulps of.

Starting towards Rabbit Lake he could already smell Kansas and gave a quiet chuckle. He couldn't imagine the white boy drinking, he was the alpha's mate, there was a certain image he had to keep up for the sake of the pack. But then again, you never knew what to expect with the quiet ones. Not to long ago Jazper had held a grudge against Kansas, a silent resentment for his picture perfect life. Since then Jazper had met Ghita, had his own family, and as a result he was now Kansas' brother-in-law, as well as Ehno. Now he was part of a living breathing and thriving family. He had been able to throw away his resentment towards his pack mate and gain a certain respect for him.

He entered the clearing to find just the guy he was thinking about sitting by himself, next to a horse. The warrior tensed up a little at the sight of the beast but walked forward anyways, “Who's this fellow?” He has met with a horse trainer once, Heath. Now that was a guy with balls of steal. Setting down his bag a clang of glass broke the silence as he took another swing from the flask around his neck. He had dug a fire pit earlier that day and set some rocks around it for safety, all they had to do was start the fire with some matches he had brought along.

Still going with the assumption that Ehno's crashing the party, ha. He didn't bring any goodies to share with everyone! D: wc:322

Night had easily taken a hold of day, blackening the sky and sending off the clouds to bring their rains to another region. The sight of the twinkling, starry sky through his workshop’s window came as quite a surprise to the Marino man. The hours had simply drifted by without notice while he worked on another project to put his carpentry skills to use. He hadn’t realized that it had gotten quite so late into the evening, and the sight of those starry skies told him that now was as good a time as any for him to take a break. The noisiest parts of his project had long been completed, but he was sure the rest of the manor’s residents would be grateful for him to stop with his typically noisy hobby for the night.

He set aside the hammer and chisel in his hands and with a quick and easy motion, untied the tool belt from around his waist, hanging it up on its shelf as he left the room he had converted into his workshop. The night had looked beautiful enough to coax him outside for a walk before turning in for the night. Ehno made his way outside, intent on taking a walk beside the lake to enjoy the cool night air. It didn’t take him long to arrive at the lake’s shore, and when he did, he found himself with some rather unexpected company.

The Marino drifted easily toward the spot Jazper and Kansas had settled. It was quite a sight to see the two males sitting by the lakeside, both with packs they had carried with them, and a horse there to keep them company as well. “Well, well. What are you two up to?” Ehno hadn’t expected to see many of the other Dreamers out and about this late, especially starting up what seemed like a little planned gathering. Hopefully he wasn’t interrupting anything important.

Sorry if this post is crappy. 500+

Kansas leaned forward, absently looking into the pit that Jazper had set up earlier to see if it contained the wood they would need. Sure enough, there was a stack of logs already in place, so that all they required was some kindling. The boy turned to pick up his bag, digging into it for the old book that he had read once and disliked, kept within just for this purpose. He was glad he'd remembered to add it to his satchel; now there was no need to search for needles and twigs. Kansas had just begun to rip up the pages when the breeze changed direction, and a new scent filled his nostrils. He paused with a few ripped sheets in his hand, scanning the darkness until he spotted the brilliant yellow of Jazper's luminous eyes. He waved, paper rippling in the wind, creating a pleasant rasping sound.

Lexington had lifted his head toward the newcomer. He was a wary beast, always watchful and never quick to trust. The horse apparently had good instincts, for Lexington merely took a few curious steps toward Jazper, nostrils widening to capture the male's scent. A smile formed upon Kansas' dark lips. In recent months, the Colonel had learned to love the other, darker-furred male as a friend. The uncertainty between them had completely dissipated, since there was no more reason for the Knight to harbor resentment. The Sadira was elated that Jazper could experience one of the greatest joys of a man's life: having a family. It made their friendship possible — something that Kansas had always longed for.

"Hey," he greeted amiably. Turquoise eyes lingered upon the flask at the coal Werewolf's neck, knowing that it contained their poison for the night. He was undoubtedly concerned about drinking, for he never was quite satisfied with the way alcohol tore down his protective walls of mental caution. All he could do was muster faith that this would become a good night. He didn't spend enough time with other men, supposedly.

He gestured toward his horse, who had come closer, hoping to get a better look at their new company. "This is Lexington. You can say hello if you want." Part of the unspoken reason Kansas had brought his steed along was for safety. If they were going to be drunk and their senses dulled, the stallion would alert them of any possible danger. Such precautions were probably unneeded, but that was just Kansas' way.

The pallid Sadira was startled almost to his knees by the sounds of more approaching footsteps. Eyes searched the darkness, already nervous about who could be coming. Yet again, his anxiety was unnecessary, for the figure formed into that of his brother-in-law. Relief caused him to sigh, but his smile had returned. "Ah," he began, beckoning Ehno closer with a gesture of his hand. His grin exposed a fang as he next teased his brother-in-law. "I could ask you the same thing," Kansas shook his head to dismiss his play. "We're having a small party, us two. Want to join us?" The slender werewolf sincerely hoped that Ehno would opt in. Kansas respected the tawny man as he did Jazper, yet they'd spent little time together. This night seemed to be the perfect opportunity. He didn't have many friends.

The Knight probably looked quite comedic as he stared at the horse with an untrusting glint in his amber eyes. He continued to multitask between drinking the alcohol and shifting his eyes between watching Kansas destroy a perfectly good book as fuel for the soon to be fire and the horse that was apparently named Lexington. Not that he had anything against horses, it was just that the last horses he had seen tried to run him over and then a massive black one nearly killed Heath in the progress of the attempted capture. He just hadn't gained a trust for newly owned horses. You never knew when they would lash out at you.

As Kansas stared momentarily at his flask Jazper had to fight the urge to chuckle aloud. Kansas had always been the more 'boy scout' type of guy. That was probably why him and Savina made such a great couple though Jazper had a feeling Savina ran the show between them. He couldn't see Kansas taking charge of a situation, after all he wasn't exactly the manly man kind. The dreamer was actually surprised that the creamy male had shown up and with something to drink too! It would probably take some time to put the boy at ease about their drinking for the night. “I don't think I'll ever get use to wolves riding around on prey.” He commented as he timidly patted the horse on the snout.

A sound caught both the wolves attention as footsteps were heard from the woods. Curiously Jazper leaned forward from his seat and gave a sniff, it had to be a pack member. Ehno's figure was easy to recognize as he came into view accompanied by Kansas' sigh. Smiling Jazper stood up quickly, instantly grabbing a bottle of beer for their new arrival. “Jeez Ehno, you almost gave Kansas a heart attack.” He teased resting large hand on Kansas' shoulder with a wink. Pushing the beer in his brother-in-law's direction the ebony male nodded, “Put up your feet and stay awhile. I've got enough drinks to share. I already started on my way here.” The Knight looked from Kansas to Ehno. This was the whole gang, the Marino men, the producers of a ever growing second generation.

Sorry for late ;~; Next time i take forever you guys should kick me or something! Also, this post is weird. x: wc:333

Ehno was quite delighted to have run into his brothers-in-law out here tonight. The trio was all part of the same little family, yet it seemed as if they hardly had the opportunity to spend all that much time together. Now certainly seemed like a good time to reverse that trend. As important as family was to the Marino, it was a bit of a mystery as to why his relationship with the two males wasn’t quite as strong as he would have liked. Both Kansas and Jazper were good men, and Ehno was proud to call them both family and friends. He was presented with an opportunity now to strengthen those bonds, and he was glad for it.

He couldn’t help but grin at the pale-furred man’s display of surprise as he approached. The two of them offered light-hearted teasing to Ehno for his sneaky approach, provoking a grin to spread on his features. “I’d certainly be glad to join you guys,” he said, nodding his thanks to Jazper as he passed him a bottle of beer. The Marino twisted the cap off the bottle easily enough and took a quick swig, savoring the drink’s peculiar flavor. He moved to settle himself across from the fire pit Kansas was tending to, but he stopped in front of Lexington, curiosity piqued. He offered the horse his free hand to sniff at in a quiet, friendly gesture.

Amber gaze drifted back to the other two wolves after a short moment. “I have to warn you though, I have the tendency to get wild when drunk,” he half joked before taking a quick drink from the bottle. The could hardly deny the truth in the words; the last time he had let alcohol loosen him up, he wound up stranded on Nova Scotia’s shores with the sailors he arrived with no where in sight. Hopefully this time he would be able to keep himself firmly planted in one place, he thought with an inward chuckle.

The fire was successful, blazing high into the navy sky in a myriad of gold and umber flames. It would ground him later when the barriers of reason were weakened by drink; he couldn't wait to stare into the fire. Returning to the present, he heard Jazper note the irony of wolves riding horses, to which Kansas merely shrugged. Inwardly, he agreed. He considered the oddity of making friends with an animal that could be eaten, although humans had done the same thing with their horses and livestock. Their influence was naturally strong upon the snowy wolf due to his regular ravaging of their written word.

Ehno agreed to join them, upping the excitement that flowed freely through his veins. He felt the large weight of Jazper's hand on his shoulder and emitted a hesitant laugh. In this moment, he enjoyed the lighthearted teasing circulating amongst them. It was time for him to begin drinking now that his nerves had finally calmed to leave him in his usual state if quiet contentment. He reached into his bag and grabbed the bottle of rum he'd brought along, opening the cap with a pop and taking a small shot.

He snorted laughter at Ehno's warning, wiping rum from his lips. "Oh yeah, I get really — " Horny? Though true, this was probably not the best tidbit to share. "Stupid. " He fell silent, letting the truth of his words sink in. It was a good thing that they were all drinking. There would be a mutual understanding of their collective stupidity once they'd each knocked a few drinks back. Kansas did not want to think of his first drunken experience, though the two that had followed it were actually memorable — his night with Savina, his conversation with Rurik. He planned to get just messed up enough to act silly with his pair of brothers-in-law, and to create another happy memory.

Convincing his brother-in-law to stay a while was certainly easy enough. Ehno had taken the bottle out of his offering hand before the coal brute could insist once again. Smiling in his silent victory Jazper raised his silver flask to his lips and took a bitter drink. With a bit of a drunken stumble already starting to surface he walked around looking for a large rock he could use to sit on by the fire as he listened to his brothers talk. It felt so good to be part of this trio. Ehno had grown up with two sisters of course but still he had siblings around. He got the glorious role of the loving and protective brother. Glancing at Kansas he realized he had never asked his pale friend about his family. When Aro and Sophie were tiny he had opened up to him and told Kansas about his parents death but the white male had not replied with his own information. Jazper's foot hit an object with a sudden thump. He let out a loud line of cuss words as he carried the large rock back to the fire.

Ehno and Kansas' drunken personality stories brightened Jazper's mood once again. The last time he had been seriously drunk was the night Ghita had seduced him and the next thing they knew Aro and Sophia were born. Of course he had faced Ehno and Savina when they found out but all had been forgiven by now. Naturally he couldn't bring that scenario up specifically with Ehno right there, he might still be touchy about the face that he had drunkenly knocked up his little sister. Sitting down took another drink, “Ya I think we all get a little rebellious when we drink. When I was younger Lucifer hit me for getting drunk.” It was probably a good thing to get punched around a little, he would probably have to give Aro a good talking to one of these days. Still, Lucifer had been drink for half the time Jaz knew the guy but he was still his father. “A toast” The Knight said as he put his flask up in the air with a large goofy smile, “To pure drunken stupidity!” Taking a swing from the silver container he looked over to Kansas once again. “So, I know Ehno's family, who the heck do you belong to?” The question could have been worded in a nicer way but the warrior was already getting to the point of being undeniably drunk.

Ehno felt a grin broaden on his features as Kansas admitted to his own foolish bumbling under the influence of alcohol. While it could certainly lend to some rather fun and silly times, the drink almost universally seemed to create fools out of everyone. As if to accentuate the thought, Ehno watched as Jazper stumbled about, apparently searching for something in the darkness. A string of colourful words followed and the man brought back a rock he had likely ran right into. Ehno laughed and took another sip of his drink. At least he knew he wouldn’t be alone in any drunken embarrassment tonight.

The dark-furred man shared a bit of his own experiences from when he was younger. The name and face of Lucifer were vague upon Ehno’s memories, but he did recall seeing the man here and there around the lands quite some time ago. He wondered where the man could have wandered off to by now. His thoughts did not dwell there for long, as Jazper continued on to propose a toast to drunken stupidity. Ehno let out a short laugh and raised his bottle to the air as well. “To good times,” he added quickly, grinning for a brief moment before taking a drink as well.

The Marino remained silent after Jazper shot a rather sudden question toward Kansas. He quietly nursed the bottle in his hands, amber gaze drifting from the giant to the white-furred man beside him. Ehno himself had met Kansas’s mother quite some time ago, shortly after Kansas had requested his permission for Savina’s hand in mateship. Iskata had proclaimed that theirs was a large and fairly spread out family, though Ehno could not recall ever meeting another that claimed kinship to the man. Kansas had never mentioned much about his family either, through in retrospect Ehno realized that the two hardly spent enough time together to allow such a conversation to pop up.

Kansas furrowed his brow as he watched Jazper stumble around, looking for whatever it was he was looking for — the pale man knew not to question it. The alcohol inhibited mind was a strange and mysterious place, so the white werewolf looked down at his rum for a moment or so. With a glance towards Ehno, he smiled genially and headed to the blazing fire, where he lowered himself to the grassy earth and crossed his legs, resting his elbows on his knees. Beside the flames he felt an amazing warmth not unlike the heat the rum had given the entire inside of his body. Jazper returned from his wanderings with a sizable rock whose purpose utterly confused Kansas, until the charred male dropped it and reclined upon it. A rock sounded less comfortable to sit on than grass, but, once again, Kansas did not spend more than a few seconds puzzling over Jazper's tipsy behavior. It was funny, though.

Kansas was careful not to react strongly when Jazper mentioned his father, turqousie gaze again falling low. He could not imagine sharing the unfortunate story of his drunken night with Lucifer and Naniko, though something inside him wanted to. Ignoring the latter inkling, Kansas reminded himself that he did not want to ruin an young, fragile friendship with such a gruesome recollection.

Fortunately, Jazper decided to propose a toast, at which Kansas shakily lifted his bottle of rum, leaving his brief, troubled thoughts behind. Unlike Ehno and Jazper, he said nothing, merely taking another shot and grimacing at the inescapable, disgusting, harsh flavor. His head began to spin, but he was beginning to feel as if he were floating on the clouds. As Jazper asked a rather abrupt question, Kansas laughed, suddenly swinging his rum in Ehno's direction, then around in Jazper's. "You two can have some. 'S much as you want. I can't — er, I shouldn't drink it all..." he spoke, wishing to be as generous as possible. He was grateful to them for this night, grateful that they wanted to spend time with him. Friends had never come easily to the shy boy, and to have them now gave him the most wonderful of feelings.

Only after offering his drink to each of his brothers did Kansas consider his answer to Jazper's question. He did not often talk about himself much, assuming that no one cared enough to hear. Admittedly, he usually worried about saying too much, or not enough. However, the liquid encouragement prompted him to relax and simply talk. "Phoenix was my father. He lead Storm, a pack from North before the, uh.... the, uh... wildfire." He glanced at each of them to gauge their recognition of his sire's name, or lack thereof. "And, my Mom was Iskata Sadira... There are apparently a lot of Sadiras around, I'm sure you've met some of them before, I don't know... Ember Phoenix is my sister, she leads AniWaya." Though he had rambled quite a bit, he did not even worry that he'd put them to sleep. He felt just fine with what he had said -- indeed, he likely could have listed off relatives of his for hours, but instead he'd noted only those closest to them. Kansas shrugged, a half smile curling his dark lips.

OOC: Hi dare! Big Grin

By now the drinking had taken its toll on the darkly shaded male. It was hard for him to concentrate on the toast even as he lowered the flask back to his lips his movement had a certain wobble to it. Staring at the fire the warrior was captivated by the dance like motion of the flames. Each spark flew out like it had the ambition to set the forest floor on fire before the spark before it. Oranges, reds and blues of every shade mixed into one another like they were entranced by a rhythmic song his pointed ears could not hear. A secret song that whistled on the wind just for the small span of the fires life.

The thoughts in his head slowed as he shifted his stare to Kansas. He could remember their long history together. If the fire had destroyed the old lands any earlier they could have been friends in puphood. As it stood now the two had pretty much ignored each others existence until Jazper was old enough to join in the hunt and had taken down his first deer with the help of a few others. After that it would have been easy for Jazper and Kansas to be friends, being so close in age and having share the ability to read, if it weren't for their situations in life. Although both shared a pack Jazper grew jealous very easily and took to picking away at the white males perfect life in his head. Where Jazper's parents were dead, his adoptive parents fighting and moved away form the pack, and his young lover's sudden disappearance after the miscarriage of his first litter, Kansas had Savina and a family.

Looking at the pale male now things were different for them. The two had managed to find a common bond when the Knight found Ghita and were even considered brothers. It was the way life worked out sometimes. At the sudden laugh and motions that Kansas made the black wolf shot back to reality and took another swing form his flask only to find it empty. Pulling over his backpack he quickly grabbed a large bottle of rum and popped it open with a grin. “No no Kansas, you drink up.” He encouraged with a chuckle of his own. It wasn't every day the boys got together for a rest from their separate lives.

The warm laugh stopped though when the history lesson started. A small frown appeared on his face for a brief moment as a calmness struck the three. Maybe he should have saved his questions for later. His fathers name nor the pack name was familiar to the brute. After all, He had spent a grand total of a month as a pack member in the old lands. However the mothers name struck a chord. Jazper had met the older women at a festival in the Valley shortly before his own adoptive mother vanished. He remembered hearing the news that the women has passed away, not in the most pleasant of ways if his memory served him right. "I met your mother once. She knew Deuce."

A smile grew back on his face broader than ever at the mention of Ember. He knew her from back in the day before he gained his co-rank title. “You know I attacked your sister for searching through our medical supplies once.” He laughed as he told the story, “I thought she was an intruder, she nearly bit my head off before Naniko arrived.” Looking to Ehno he wondered what really happened. He had a small crush on her and Savina when he was a pup but instead he found Ghita. Letting some silence fill the middle he added, “You know I always thought I'd win over Savina or Naniko when I was a pup and yet here I am sitting with the fathers of their pups.” It was a bold statement he knew. With a wink his brought the rum to his lips, “Lucky for me I got the hot sister.” His golden eyes sparkled with mischief as he looked to his brothers-in-laws daring them to remark knowing full well he should have kept his mouth shut in front of Ehno but having the drunken stupidity and confidence he lacked when sober.

He considered Kansas's offer, feeling a foolish grin spread on his features. "If you insist. I have to admit, rum is my weakness." He laughed and grinned wider. Indeed, rum had been the culprit that wound up getting the Marino so drunk that he inadvertently found himself with a new home here in Nova Scotia. Ehno was only disappointed that he didn't bring anything of his own to share with his brothers.

Ehno settled down in the grass between the two males while Kansas began to speak of his family. He found it interesting to learn a little of his father and the lands to the north he had come from. And a wildfire? The Marino had never heard mention of a wildfire before, but he supposed it was to be expected. As adventurous as he was, he didn't often travel too far north, and evidently not far enough to notice any signs of charred earth. The pale male went on to mention the Sadiras and it brought a slight smile to his lips. "'A lot of Sadiras.' Your had mentioned the same thing when I first met her." He reminisced upon the chance encounter they had had in the city, long ago.

He didn't know much about Kansas's siblings, but Jazper evidently had a run in with his sister at one point. The dark male shared a short description of their encounter, and seemed to segue from there to mentioning his past crushes on Savina and Naniko as a pup. "Ha, small world, huh?" he commented before lifting up the small bottle for another drink. Jazper's next comment caught him off guard and Ehno wound up choking on his drink, making him cough and awkwardly try to cover his mouth. He cleared the rogue liquid from his throat before hiding behind another sip from the bottle. Ehno hadn't made his way into a drunken enough state to render Jazper's comment any less awkward. He wasn't going to touch that statement, oh no.

Jazper apparently had a plentiful supply of alcohol for himself, refusing Kansas's offering politely. Kansas smiled when the agouti male's preference differed and he obligingly accepted the bottle of rum — the pale boy certainly could not drink the entire thing to himself. He couldn't imagine how he might behave with such a large amount of alcohol in his system. Already, he was getting an extreme high, the dancing flames of the fire they had communally built dizzying him with their swirling, ever-changing colors. He felt very good, but much more drink and he would probably lose his mind like he had on that fateful night of years' past.

Both Jazper and Ehno responded to his long-winded family tree description. They both had met someone he mentioned, which caused the Sadira to laugh loudly, a sound that probably made no sense to the other two. The fact that they had met members of his family was utterly predictable considering the amplitude of his bloodline, and he found the exposed truth of it funny.

Jazper's unhindered spillage of past infatuation had Kansas smiling still. Without the softening drunkenness, he might have been offended to know that his friend had once been sexually attracted to the love of his life. It was indeed a very good thing that he was drunk. Laughter spilled from his lips with Jazper's final comment, oceanic eyes darting to Ehno's unreadable features. "You're full'a shit tonight, Jazz, heheh," Kansas slurred, leaning back on the heels of his hands. He gazed up at the twinkling stars for several seconds, caught up in his insignificance beneath them.

Next thing he knew, he was spewing words like vomit. "The first time I got drunk, I uh, I slept with Naniko and Lucifer." He said this with the forethought of their odd interconnections with one another, part of him wanting to shed light on the strangeness of it all. After he had spoken, however, Kansas shut his mouth, glancing wearily from the charcoal son of the man he had just mentioned to the father of the woman's children. He was vaguely fearful of how they would react, wishing not to harm his relationship with either one of them.

“Isn't rum everyone's weakness?” He chuckled a little as he took another gulp from the bottle in his hand, a smile still dancing on his face. Drinking always made the warrior more gutsy, not to say he wasn't one to stand up for himself and others, but the alcohol gave him a rebellious edge he normally was to goodhearted to be. After his last comment he wasn't surprised that neither Kansas or Ehno have the balls to tell him otherwise. Kansas' laughter just encouraged him further in his self indulgent chatter, “Yep. I got the biggest strapping young lad out of the three of us.” He boasted. He was proud of his son Aro, who wouldn't be? He was growing into a loving and empathetic oversized young male. Even better than his father before him and his father before him. At least Aro knew he could talk to his father about anything.

At Kansas' little secret was shared Jazper's laughing stopped. It was always an interesting feeling to be drunk. Some were happy, partying, and could smile through anything. Others would stumble about grumbling and cussing up a storm from being angry at what the world had offered them. Jazper hardly ever stomped around. However, everyone within the mansion could tell you that he was known to lose his temper on the odd touchy subject such as his family. The mention of Lucifer's sexual deviation from his adoptive mother would have been enough to send him on an emotional rant but Jazper had known Kansas since he was young, they were practically the same age.

A mix of emotions filled the Knight's brain. Kansas had slept with Lucifer AND Naniko. Looking to Ehno he tried to pick up on how he was going to react while he thought to himself. Here before them was a guy he had hated for having everything and eventually grew to like and then eventually started to grow a friendship with and he had to have something that was his. In Jazper's mind for a short moment an idea told him that Kansas had taken part of his family. He had helped encourage Lucifer to cheat on his mate and was directly involved with the hell he had to live with being juggled between two messed up parents. “How could you..?” He asked softly, all smiles gone from his face with an accusing look taking their place.

Yay, zombified thread! >.> Also, I should learn to stop writing posts while watching football...

A jovial mood stuck with the three of them for a while, and it made Ehno even more glad that he'd stumbled upon the two of them tonight. Despite the boldness of Jazz's previous comment, Kansas simply laughed it off and the mood remained light. Ehno shook his head, a half-smile on his lips, and indulged in some of the rum Kansas had passed over. There was more boasting on the part of Jazper, prompting a snort from Ehno as he waved off the comment. Wasn't he just full of confidence tonight?

Then the conversation took an unexpectedly serious turn when Kansas decided to share a rather revealing little nugget of information about the first time he got drunk. At first Ehno merely blinked in response, replaying the words in his head. He slept with Naniko and Lucifer? Did he hear that right? The Marino's first reaction was to simply interpret it as a bold little joke. Wasn't that the direction their chatter was going tonight? He began to second-guess that assumption when he caught Jazz's gaze and saw that his previously cheerful features had turned into something more accusing and spiteful. Was Ehno missing something here? The Marino's amber gaze shifted back to the snowy-furred wolf. Ehno let out a short laugh, if a little uncertain. "Good one, Kansas." No, that had to have been a joke. Right?

yay! kansas is wigging out. 300+

Kansas was actually happy to hear Jazper's harmless boasting. The Sadira boy wasn't the type to brag about himself, not even jokingly — he was always instead harshly questioning himself. Jazper's confidence served as good inspiration for Kansas. He wished to reach even halfway to the self-assured point that his Knight counterpart manifested.

Tonight was not the night that he would reach this goal — in fact, tonight would push him further away from it. Jazper's rapidly changing expression was enough to make Kansas want to rip his own fur out, but the cold, accusing voice caused the pale boy to actually grab his hair in both hands and pull. Though his initial intentions in sharing that personal tidbit involving Naniko and Lucifer were almost philosophical in nature, he realized the horrid implications of the words he had spoken. At once, all the reasons he should have kept his drunken mouth shut hit him. He was grotesque, horrid, beastly. As his feelings of self-hatred intensified, his face grew hot in the light of the flames, like burning iron. "Oh, god," Kansas whimpered, letting his forehead rest against his knees. He didn't move, even with Ehno's innocent comment.

He was too drunk now to contain his feelings. Hot tears welled in his melting blue eyes and flowed freely down his face and to the earth between his legs. "I shouldn't have said that. I'm sorry, s-sorry." Though he was apologizing to both of the men, he turned his head slightly to look at Jazper with red, teary eyes. All those months of building back a friendly relationship with the charcoal wolf could very well be nothing more than waste. Kansas put his head back on his knees, unable to look at Jazper. Instead, he spoke into his knees at his perhaps former friends, his words muffled. I'll leave. If you guys want me to leave, I will. He was a disgusting creature.

Perhaps Jazper was a little quick you take what Kansas said seriously but he had always been a quickly jump to conclusions type of guy. Kansas and Jazper had started off as mere acquaintances and shortly into their adult lives began a silent jealousy face off. In the ebony males mind Kansas had been a quiet little guy who couldn't hurt a fly and yet he had a gorgeous mate and pups. At the time, having been an only child and parentless, he had been bitter against Kansas, believing himself to be more worthy of the family life. After Sophia and Aro were born Jazper had immediately felt bad for his internal dispute against the cream male and decided to redeem himself. Ever since the two had been friends, even sharing a love for music.

As soon as Kansas let the secret slip it was as though everything they had grown into as friends was dropped and shattered into a million little shards. As Ehno shook it off as a joke the Knight couldn't believe that the Marino actually thought this was a joke. The emotions inside of him was more emotional pain and a sense of betrayal than anger. Standing up he had to fight the urge to walk over and hit Kansas' little frame. One hit, just one, could do a lot of damage to him but remember that Savina would not be pleased he restrained himself. “What do you mean you slept with Naniko and my Lucifer?” He asked, an obviously rhetorical question. “That's my father.” Pointing to Ehno he added, “His childrens mother.” a low growl grew in the warriors broad chest, “What would you do if I slept with Savina? Huh?” He growled, his teeth flashing as his emotions grew in heat.

Short and awkward post. Ehno's kinda doing things of his own accord now, lol.

Realization slowly began to dawn on the Marino once he saw Kansas's reaction to Jazper's stinging and accusing looks. There was no way some simple little joke like that would prompt the cream-furred man to curl in on himself or cause the tears to well up in his cerulean eyes as they did. The tentative, unsure smile that clung to Ehno's lips slowly began to fall away. He almost didn't hear Kansas's self-loathing words, being so caught up in the thoughts he was slowly processing. His brother-in-law had really done that? But... when? When could that have happened. It had been ages since Naniko had left, and even longer since Lucifer had last been seen around here. Why was this only coming to light now? The Marino could only watch Kansas in stunned silence.

As soon as Jazper stood, Ehno was snapped back into reality. With the giant man towering over them, throwing around such strong and angry words, the Marino suddenly realized that things could be turning real ugly. Ehno stumbled to his own feet and tried to position himself between the two men. "Jazper," he warned, sending him a glare. "Back off." Golden eyes glanced down at Kansas's shaking form briefly. Certainly the Italian man wasn't pleased to be discovering this now, but he wasn't going to let his anger make him do something he would later regret. Of course this revelation stung Ehno's pride, but hell, it had it have happened so far in the past, who was Ehno to judge? What a hypoctrite he would be if he wouldn't let himself see past this now.

For all the books that he read, he could be so stupid. There was no way for either of them to understand his motivation for spilling such a dark secret. To believe that they would see it as a sign of their interconnections was completely ridiculous of him. He realized much to late that he had likely sounded boasting and confrontational, both qualities that were far from the truth of his shy, humble nature.

Kansas breathed deeply into his knees, trying the calm the waves of emotion that were threatening to drown him. Jazper spoke, and the Sadira male heard in his voice the intense pain that he had caused. His question about Savina stung deeply, but Kansas had no retaliation, knowing that he deserved that and much worse. More tears formed and fell down his face in a steady flow. The thin man looked into the fire, sobbing now, prepared for a blow to the head that he knew he deserved. To his surprise, another shadow passed before the fire as Ehno rose to stand between the beasts of white and black. For a moment, he was puzzled. He expected Ehno to stand beside Jazper in resentment. Of course. Kansas was sure that Ehno wasn't exactly pleased by what he had said either, that he only wanted to prevent things from getting out of hand.

"It's okay, Ehno," the boy choked, rising to his feet. All he wanted to do was run away, to lay in the dark comfort of his room amid his mate and pups. He couldn't stay here any longer. "I'm gonna go, y-you two have a... a good n-night," he spoke in a rush. Before he could hear either of their responses, Kansas took off towards the Manor, tears streaming freely as he ran. He was unable to face it.

Kansas' behavior was, in Jazper's mind, pathetic and pointless. What was the point in crying about it? Crying wouldn't change the fact that he had helped his father cheat on his mother or the fact that his parent's mateship had come to an end and they had both moved away leaving him and his siblings behind. What startled the warrior wasn't Kansas' predictable and characteristic response but Ehno's confrontation. Glaring at the timber wolf the ebony male wasn't quite sure what to make of his actions. Why in the world would he defend that idiot? The mere idea of protecting such a betrayer baffled his mind. Unable to decide what to do he stood his ground, anger still obvious on face, muscles still tense ready to fight, and tail high and flicking irritably back and forth. “What do you mean?” He asked in distress, “He fucked my father! He took part in ruining my parents relationship! I think I have the right to some ass kicking!” He growled furiously.

Turning his glare on the frail white cry baby behind Ehno he couldn't help but have old feelings bubble up. How did Kansas manage to get the Alpha? Back in the good old days the biggest and strongest male got the strongest and biggest female. Not that Ghita wasn't an amazing mate, he loved her deeply, but the fact that Savina had gone for Kansas and never given him a thought drove him a little crazy. Here was her mate now, the father of her children, sitting there crying like a pup who had been abandoned because he had fucked up and been stupid. Suddenly the pale male spoke and ran. Surprised Jazper sat back down on his rock, “Fuck what a wimp.” He grumbled as he raised a drink to his muzzle. He couldn't even sit and take his consequences like a man. Looking up at Ehno he growled again, “What the hell was that for? You realize Lucifer and Deuce LEFT my siblings and I after their relationship ended?! I lost ANOTHER family because of assholes like him.”
