Artemis, Big Grin

He wondered why it had taken him so long to make the trip to these borders. But, Heath knew that answer without having to dig very deep. His past was something that he wished to forget, all those things the told him what he was and where he came from. All those things needed to be put in their place and left to rot. But this, it had resurfaced and unlike his father it did not just involve him. Ruri had spoken of and befriended the Crimson Dreams leader, the one that had told him to leave her lands. Her words had been spiked with physical force that left more then one scar. But Ruri was worth wandering towards the pack lands for a friendly conversation, to build the bridges and forget that there had been any sort of dispute in the past.

But despite his bravery he didn’t go alone, Lumière refused to leave his side and so she remained there still. After finding that she was pregnant Heath had kept her locked in her stall, but after speaking with his good friend Anann he had decided to ride her despite her condition. Now that the choice was made she refused to go back to her home in the stables. Even in the light rain showers she was glad to be out in the vast lands that stretched between his homelands and the world of the Dreamer, her roan colored pelt shimmering silver and black.

Under the banner of a peaceful alliance between Cour des Miracles and Crimson Dreamers the morte dre Soul Chancellor broke through the obvious boundary and wandered forth towards the lake that he remembered from the times before. Of course he had no intention of causing any trouble, but as he left the out skirts of the pack territory Heath dismounted Lum and took the leather lead to walked her further into the pack lands.

tralalala I am slow. ♥ 300+

Little Artemis Marino was now three whole months old! That meant that she could do anything that she wanted to, whenever she wanted to... Obviously. There were no two ways about it, the little Marino girl was far too excited and adventurous to stay put for any length of time. Perhaps that was not a good thing, but the rambunctious puppy was happy with her life, even if sometimes her brother and sister were boooring and her mommy and daddy were busy. Sometimes they even told her not to get too excited, or to calm down—like they knew anything. Her life was just beginning, and everything was exciting! Artemis needed to see and do and know everything, needed to go everywhere!

The silver-tipped puppy had ducked out of the mansion that morning the first opportunity that she saw, and she had been roaming the pack lands with her nose in the air, light blue eyes wide, the entire time. The smells were intense, and everything was so new and exciting still! It was much more exciting than being stuck in the house, anyway, by a long shot. Now, something different crossed her path, a scent she did not recognize. She set off at a run, excited about the prospect of finding something super cool. She couldn't imagine what she would find, but it would be awesome!

She tumbled over her feet as she came close enough to find what she sought. The man was a stranger, and the thing next to him was huge! Artemis stared up at him, having landed in a jumble near his feet. "Who're you, signore?" she asked, tongue lolling from her mouth happily. "And what's that thing? It's really big! Oh! I'm Artemis Marino!" she announced proudly. After all, she was very proud to be who she was!

As the male wandered, he let his thoughts join his roaming eyes. There seemed to be many more trees here then in the lands he called home, and the scent of fresh water seemed to be heavy in every direction he turned. Like the lake and streams were all around. The salty air was gone, and left was something almost too clear his lungs felt like nothing passed through them.

Heath had been out of the pack lands before of course, but here he was on full alert here in this place that he had avoided for so long. It was quiet, the woods still without even a bird’s call to disturb his thoughts. It was even too silent. Heath’s amber eyes looked to the right, and then left. Large coyote ears swiveled from the right to the left, following the pattern of sounds that the wind brought him.

He looked through the wooded area, eyes narrowing at the sounds that broke through the quiet. The coy-wolf paused, Lumière halting as well and lifting her head in protest. The fur on the back of Heath’s neck rose, tickling slightly and making him tense. Black nose worked, sniffing at the air and breaking down the messages that rose upon it.

Then, at the sounds that grew at the creatures approach and the sight of the small bundle of fur that came forth with a stumble the Cours male took a step back. A high pitched whinny was ripped from the mare’s throat and Heath pulled at the lead rope to keep her steady. Heath was not the keenest of canines, and had to blink once or twice to realize that there was a small pup sitting at his foot paws.

She was bright, eager to speak with him and whiling to face something new and what others might see as scary. Well… Heath spoke with a voice that spoke of how he needed to gather his thoughts. I’m Heath. he had not expected to see a Dreamer of this size, and though he still slightly unsure Heath was relieved that this was who had found him.

This is Lumière, the French word rolled off his familiar tongue She is a horse. he explained, crouching to lower his eyes level down towards this new Artemis.

The man and horse both seemed startled to see her, and her soft, pale blue eyes widened just a tiny bit at the noise that came from the mare. "Whoa!" she said excitedly, tongue lolling. This was the first horse she had ever seen, at least that she could remember, and this was the first stranger she had seen, too. "What's a horse?" The obvious answer was there before her, the hooved creature standing beside the Miracles man, but she wanted to know what a horse was used for and why it was there. Artemis did not think anyone had ever taught her about horses yet, and she was eager to learn from this Heath man.

She stood, tail raised and wagging rapidly behind her. It was so exciting to be outside all alone! Of course, she wasn't alone anymore, but she did not think it counted all that much, because Heath was not a member of her family and he was not someone that the little silver-tipped puppy knew. It was totally different, and no one would be able to tell her otherwise. "What're you doin' here, signore?" she asked, tone far from accusatory. To the young puppy, there was no reason to think he wasn't supposed to be here. She just wanted to know why he had come to visit! Surely it had not been to visit her, even though that would be super cool.

Big Grin

Heath’s rump found the ground with a slight bump, sitting in front of the light colored puppy. There was something about the little female that the male found heartwarming. He had never been one to be drawn towards small welps, but her bright smile and her interest in Lum made Heath grow ever more curious. For a few minutes he forget all together about being in the Dreaming lands and about the leader that he knew would be unhappy to see him.

The male laughed at her as she exclaimed her amazement, and continued to smile lightly as she gave her question. The roam mare had not wandered away as she normally did when Heath met another canine. She sensed the tikes interest in her and the mare enjoyed attention just a little more then anyone else might. The dark faced horse sniffed at Artemis, throwing fistfuls of hot air at the pup. A horse is a plant eater, they live in herds and some have accepted us as companions. Heath explained, surprised that he had explained it as well and clearly as he had (at least he thought so). He wasn’t much of a teacher, and had yet to recognize the fatherly practice he was getting with this meeting.

Gold eyes watched the young silver wolf, her energy practically bubbling out into the open air. Taking a walk, hoping to meet a few from your pack Heath explained, then with a narrowed gaze Heath gave his own question. What are you doing all alone? He knew well that is he had a daughter the age of Artemis he would not be allowing her to venture out and about without an escort. Call him over protective, but Heath could not help but wonder if she had slipped away from a caregiver or a parent.

The horse moved her face even closer to Artemis, breathing a lot of hot air on the puppy. Artemis giggled loudly, nearly toppling over from both the excitement and from the air from the horse's nose. The puppy had never seen anything like this, but it sure was awesome. "Her breath is so warm!" she shouted, little girl squeals of delight accompanying the words. Artemis had never seen anything quite like this creature, but the mare seemed friendly enough and if she was good enough to be a friend to Heath, then she was good enough to be a friend to Artemis, too. "She's your friend, right? Does she talk?" Thus far, the mare had been very quiet, and the silver-tipped puppy wanted to know why she was.

She turned her face up again at his question, a proud smile accenting her entire face. "Oh! I snuck out of the mansion, because I wanted to go exploring alone! I did it once before, but I got stuck in the window," she added, frowning at the thought. It had not been pleasant to be caught by the dreaded window monster, but it was okay. Her Auntie Ghita had saved her, and everything had been okay. "Do you have friends here?"

Heath liked to watch the two interact. Lum was good with the pup, gentle and amusing for the puppy’s sake. She whinnied at the little one’s high pitched voice, her ears forward and speaking of how she was amused as well. Heath’s smile did not fade, coyote ears forward as he placed a hand on the mare’s face in the hopes of calming her. There was no need to blow the Dreaming youth away with her horse breath. She is. The male spoke, smiling wide. Her excitement was contagious. No not to us. at times Heath hated the fact that he could not converse with the roan mare, but then he was certain that she would have a few sharp words for him. He could see the strict opinion in her eyes at times.

Her story was interesting, and Heath wondered what sort of pup-sitter they had in the Crimson Dreams. While parent had their own duties it was the job of the puppy watcher to look after the little ones. You got stuck in a window? he asked with a bit of surprise in his tone. That was quite a story, Did you find anything out here? Heath could not help but be drawn into the puppy’s excitement and game. Oh, no I don’t have any friends here. He closed his mouth, looking at the little pup, wondering if she could solve this newly discovered dilemma.

Gawd you should just kill me for being so slow. D:

Artemis considered this new tidbit of information, studying the horse very intently. It just did not make sense to her, not a bit. "Why doesn't she talk to us? I'm a fun girl!" She could not figure out why the mare might not want to talk to her or Heath, but he would probably have an answer. The horse was his friend, after all, so he probably understood why she didn't want to talk to wolves. Ordinarily, Artemis might have wondered if it was because the horse couldn't talk at all, but Heath had just told her that she didn't talk to them. That meant that she talked to someone. Maybe other horses. "Are there other horses?" She didn't know.

She nodded vigorously, remembering her adventure with the big, mean window monster. "I did! I wanted to get outside, so I went upstairs and tried to climb through a window, but it bit me and I got stuck! Lucky my Auntie Ghita was outside, 'cause she came inside and helped me. I knocked over lots of stuff and I broke a vase," she admitted sheepishly. Missa hadn't meant to knock over stuff and break it, but of course she had. Ghita hadn't been mad at her for it, though, so it was okay.

"I have found sum'fin!" she shouted enthusiatically. "And so have you! 'Cause now you have a friend here and you can come visit me and stuff! Right?" she asked as an after thought, hoping he would not deny being her friend. Artemis was excited to have a new friend!

luff you!

The roan mare watched the small pup with interest. Heath figured that this one was the smallest wolf that she had ever seen, or at least for some time. Heath liked how she was in tuned to the little girl's high pitches and movements, but then again who wasn't driven to speak with the young Dreamer. Her bright demeanor simply screamed for attention. Heath thought for a moment, then tried to answer her question as clearly as he could. She doesn't speak our language, and we don't speak hers. But I can read her body language. He commented in a voice that might not have been as deep as was normal for the male, her puppish excitement so easy contagious. They read each other all the time, her eyes, ears and her posture in general told him more then he figures her voice ever would. Just as they looked to one another and see feelings written upon their muscle and features. Yes, we have many horses in Cour des Miracles, I care for many of them.

He smiled at her tale, picturing the small girl stuck in the window and it's frame. How did you get out how? Did you use the door? Heath had never spoken with a pup in this fashion, on her level and almost nose to nose. The horse still watched, as if waiting for the small bundle of energy to go sprinting off so that she could make chase. Heath was still sure she would grow bored at any moment.

Both Marshal and horse's head moved backwards slightly at the shout of the pups voice. Yes, I guess so. he responded, quite more calmly then then Artemis. When you are older, you can visit my home too. He extended the invitation with a small smile.

I luff you, too! <3 WotD: Galore. 300+ words.

Missa considered this new bit of information, not quite sure how to process what he said. The bit about knowing the horse's body language was not exactly something easy for the very young puppy to understand, but the idea that the pack had a lot of horses was very cool. Imagine, horses galore! "What do you guys do with the horses? Are they all this big?" she inquired, turning her soft blue eyes up to the horse's face again. Artemis was big and brave, so she wasn't scared of the horse or anything, but maybe her brother and sister would be. They weren't as big and brave and adventurous as she was, no they were not.

She wrinkled her nose in distaste, knowing that her tale of escape for today was not nearly as exciting as the story of how she got stuck in the window. "It's a borin' story," she mumbled, disappointed in herself. "Someone just left the door open a little bit and I snuck out, but on one saw me!" At least that part was pretty cool, even if there was not much of an exciting tale. "But... But maybe there could be a cool story! What if, maybe, there was a big bear outside the door? Yeah! Then I... Then I snuck by it, and I tripped it!" That sounded like a much more exciting story to the young girl. "That would be a lot more exciting, right?" Artemis certainly thought so, at any rate.

Artemis bounced a little in her seat at the invitation. Her mommy and daddy would probably not let her go visit Heath in Cour des Miracles any time soon, but as soon as she was allowed, she was going to try! "What would we do in your pack when I come to visit?" she asked, very curious indeed. It would probably be very exciting!

HORSES GALORE XD!

Heath tried to break it down so that the pup would be able to understand it but his limited time around such young minds didn’t give him the experience that he needed. Any beast would know what body language was, right? Of course he didn’t consider the fact that no one everyone was born with such knowledge, not being able to remember the day he learned the definition of it. But she didn’t question him, leading him to believe that she didn’t understand and thus making him quite content with his explanation. Heath began to answer her new question with a bit of a drawn out Well, and then after thinking about it a moment he continued, we ride them, ride one their backs so they can carry us to different places. He tried to break it down a bit for the pup, getting more comfortable with explaining things. Of course I need to feed them, and train them. It was a lot of responsibility to have horses and the Marshal knew that fact well.

No, He answered, cocking his head and thinking about it. Some are bigger, and then there are smaller horses called ponies. Heath was sure that they had a few smaller horses and could be considered pony height, but from what he knew there were not any miniature horses around.

His large ears turned and folded for a brief second as she began telling the story of her get away, for she seemed fairly displeased with it. But still it was a feat, and she had even made it out without anyone seeing her. That’s pretty daring. he commented with a growing smile. Of course her distortion of the tale made him laugh, That would have been very exciting, and dangerous too. Heath said with a more serious look on his face.

He thought for a moment, trying to conjure ideas that the small girl might like. Well, maybe we could explore the beach? He asked, wondering if she would find such a thing boring or terribly exciting.

xD I used that word in every post I made that day~

Soft blue eyes stared up at him in all seriousness as he spoke of riding them. "Have you ever fallen off?" she demaned to know, tone both curious and perhaps even a bit envious. Artemis wished she could do something so cool as to ride on a horse! "How come you're not riding on her right now?" She thought it would be very much fun to ride on a horse all the time, so the fact that he had been on the ground when the Marino girl had found him was entirely too baffling. Wouldn't he want to ride the horse all the time? She would, she bet. Probably. Well... Maybe.

Her story was not all that exciting without the bear, so she shrugged, then perked up when eh suggested they go to the beach. "That'd be fun!" she squealed. "We could play and go swimming and dig! My mommy and daddy taught me how to swim once, in the lake, with ym brother and sister," she added, just incase he was worried that Savina and Kansas only loved one of their puppies. As far as Artemis knew, they loved them all the same, even Cambria and Amata and Gotham.

Horses had never truly been his life completely. Ruri would always come before the hoofed creatures. But he believed that with the silver colored collie they had saved him. Heath had never thought that he was close to suicide, but he was headed down a dark path such as that. Lumière had been his guiding light away from that destruction, and Ruri had been at the end of that uneasy path. He loved that he cared for those in his pack’s stables, and took great pride in what he did and how so. Speaking to the pup that pride came forth in his explanation. He paused for her questions, answering willingly. I have, more times then I’d like to remember. He said with a smile, his tone light.

Lumière needs a break every once in a while. I’m not very light. Heath joked. The Horse looked at the small pup, the tone of her high voice likely drawing interest. The dark faced mare leaned down and sniffed at the sandy hued pup’s nose and huffed loudly.

Heath’s brow’s rose slightly, acting a bit more excited then swimming would normally be. Well, the pup was quite small and learning to swim was a feat so he should be very impressed with her braver. So far Heath had been. Really? He questioned. My favorite part of the beach is swimming. He said with a light voice. Lum shook her head, long dark mane flying through the air. Heath patted her neck, silently asking for her to settle. Lumière likes the beach too. He smiled.

300+ words.

Crimson Dreams did not have any horses that she knew of, so to think of a pack having many of them was so very strange to the young Marino. They were pretty interesting creatures, though, that was for certain. They were especially very large! Someday, Artemis was going to ride a horse, she had decided, and was very hopeful that it would be soon. Maybe when she went to visit him in Cour des Miracles, Heath would teach her how. She would ask now, but he had said that she needed a break sometimes, and even though Artemis was so much smaller than Heath, she figured the horse would probably like to keep taking her break. "Does it hurt to fall off? I bet it does. What does she do when you fall off?" Secretly, Artemis wondered if the horse laughed at the luperci man. That was what she would do, if she was a horse.

"Okay, let's go!" Artemis shouted, bouncing up from where she had been eagerly sitting. The young girl was always excited to do things, and she absolutely loved to lead the way. Since Heath wasn't actually from her pack, she figured he would need her to lead the way for this, too. "Follow me! We'll go to the ocean, not the lake, this time," she added, deciding on their destination. She had learned to swim in the lake, but it couldn't be that much harder in the ocean, could it? Artemis highly doubted that, so she set off at a fast-paced puppy sprint, turning to check to see that she was being followed. When she was satisfied in knowing that they were coming with her, Artemis led the way to the beach in the most direct manner she possibly could, though she did have a problem with getting distracted. She also was not the best tracker, being such a young puppy, so she didn't really take them in a straight line.

Heath could easily remember the days when Lumière was still a wild horse. Though their relationship was something he considered unique, they were not without their moments of miscommunication. The roan mare had come to him, accepting him before he even knew what it was to be so bonded and trust another in the simplest of ways. She had closed that gap and even though she was one that he could say was calmer them most he hadn’t the slightest idea of what to do when he first started to ride. And of course he fell off many times, not because of her reluctance or skittishness but because of his own ignorance.

Heath could help but smile at her curiosity, Sometimes it does, Heath admitted, a wondering if her question was genuine or if she just wanted to imagine him falling on his tail. Lumière? She just stands there, and looks back at me. Wondering why I can't stay on. His grin widened, she was likely chuckling to herself at his inability to stay on her back.

The male was pretty taken aback by her eagerness to go to the beach. He had traveled away from the Cour des Miracles shores, and north to these lands, and he could not help but wonder if there was a caretaker or a parent that was looking for this pup. Wandering to the beach with her made him a bit uneasy. There seemed to be a little touch of father in him despite that lack of his own in his life, and Heath called after the pup as she gallivanted off to play their new game of follow the leader. Hold on Artemis! He said in a tone that might have been his dad voice if he had one. Are you sure you parents are not looking for you?

I figure we can probably wrap this up? ^^

Her attention was not something that could be held for very long, and Artemis was finding herself growing more and more distracted by the idea of going to the beach, something she was beginning to find much more interesting than Heath falling off of his horse. The silver-tipped girl thought that everything about what he said was cool, but she was beginning to lose interest in what he was saying. Of course it was his fault, because he had played a part in suggesting that they go to the beach. Now it was all that she could think of doing.

The young Marino had begun to bound off in the direction of the beach when his voice caused her to stop, and Artemis looked over her shoulder sternly. It was the same tone of voice that her parents used on her when she was doing something that they did not think she should be doing. Soft blue eyes looked at him warily as she shuffled to turn herself around to look at the Miracles man again. “I guess they might be, but it’s okay, because I’m with you, right? You’re an adult,” she added, as if that explained everything. She probably should be getting back to the mansion soon, even if it was not something that she really wanted to have to do…

Heath watched the young female, a half smile on his face as she turned to look back at him. Lumière touched his shoulder, perhaps nudging him to remind him that he couldn’t allow this pup to wrap him around her finger like she was beginning to. Heath gave a nod of his head at her statement, and put himself in the paws of her parents. This was not a land in which he felt the most comfortable, and knew that keeping her away from home was not a wise choice. It was certainly not the same simply because he was an adult. I think it would be best if I walked you towards your home. he said, a hand on the mare’s neck.

Of course he had no idea that this was the daughter of the black coated female that had rightfully attacked him all those months and months ago, but if he had known he would be tempted to leave her right here and get as far from her and the threat that her mother brought him. But he wanted her to get home safely, and figured that there was some sort of den area that she slept at night. Come on, lead the way.

Artemis pouted, discontented by what he said to her. She had been looking forward to playing on the beach with him and the unicorn! Besides, she didn't think that her parents would be looking for her just yet, so it probably did not matter that she strayed as far as the beach. It did not truly occur to her that Heath was an adult wizard of another pack, found inside the pack's territory and now speaking to the leader's daughter. If it were pointed out to her, Artemis would not understand; she was big enough to talk to anyone she darn well pleased.

The silver girl sighed loudly and intentionally, then took a few trudging steps to meet with Heath again. She really didn't want to lead the way, because she did not want to go to the mansion, but she figured she had no choice now that he was walking her back. "Okaaaay," she said, drawing it out as a long sigh. "The mansion is this way. Maybe sometime you can meet my mom or dad? Not today if you don't want, but maybe some other time," she added, beginning the long walk back to the mansion, leading Heath and the mare.
