For Your Wondering

As hard as it was for the Church female to understand and acknowledge the offspring of her birth mother it had been the exact opposite for the puppies that her adoptive mother had given life to. The three little whelps were more flesh and blood to the Nanny then the four Valley youths. That change had been a welcomed one, for the goodness that Anu held would never dwindle and Mati had never felt pain brought on by the hands of the gray and tan female. The love that forged their bond was the same that she felt connecting her to the trio of boys that she had come to tell Haven about.

The pair walked side by side, the day hardly at it’s halfway mark and looking as if it might clear up by the sun’s peak. Away from the coast that her brother’s home clung to the air was stagnant, warm and humid, with no breeze to cool their fur. But the topic of conversation did not weigh on either of them, and their chattering brought her memories of their youth. Times when they were never separated, times when things were all very simple. But their lives had changed, drifting away but only in physical location. When they came together it was like they had never been apart.

Mati had been happy to know that Haven had already heard of the litter Anu had been carrying, and when she was given the okay to reach out and invite visitors the brown female had hustled her way to the Cours borders to speak of the birth and to bring him back for an introduction. Momma will be happy to see you. She spoke as they passed through the flourishing green Dreaming lands. Mati hoped that their mother would allow them to reprieve her from her duties, she felt as if the blue-eyed female had not left the small room since she had entered it.

Ever since finding out about his mother's pregnancy he had been antsy. He had done his best to keep himself busy so his mind would toil over her well being, but even with all his duties it was difficult not to worry. The Aatte wished that he could be there, to go stay in Crimson Dreams until her time came and the pups were born and he knew they were all healthy and safe. Unfortunately he couldn't afford to be away from Cour des Miracles so long. Having another warrior in the pack made him more at ease, but protecting was his official duty and if something happened while he was on an extended leave he wouldn't be able to forgive himself. So when his sister showed up one day he was overjoyed to hear that Anu and their new brothers were well and that he could go and see them.

The trip between the two packs thankfully wasn't long, especially on such a hot day, but the heat didn't bother him at all. It gave him and Mati some well deserved time to catch up and what lay at the end of the road was so exciting that he could barely keep from running to the manor. Still, he always enjoyed seeing the lands he had known as a pup. The stroll was even more pleasant, having his sister by his side once more. Every memory he had of them together in their childhood was fresh in his mind. Part of him wished they could return to those carefree days, but he was happy with his life now despite all the hardships. It seemed Mati was as well.

"I'll be happy to see her too. I've been worrying about her ever since my last visit here," he confided. "I wish I could have been able to stay here to help, but I couldn't really leave for that long. I'm glad you were here for her." They were the only two left in the lands and he was heartened to know that Anu hadn't been without all her family.

The relationships she held with her mother was an odd one. At times they spoke often and told each other everything. And then other days Mati avoided her, kept things to herself and allowed there to be mystery surrounding her adoptive mother. Mati had know Anu was pregnant some time ago, and was one of the first to find out, but she didn't to this day who their father was. But she hadn't thought to pry, curiosity was alive and well in the artist and still Mati knew it was something Anu wished to remain unsaid. She didn't ask Savina, nor Haven in case the eldest Dreamer happened to speak of it in their presence. It didn't seem to matter, a secondary detail that came after the joys of new puppies and little brothers.

His words brought her eyes to his face. There was much to reflect on when ever her purple orbs danced over the features of her closest sibling. The months they had spent at home, and the ones apart. So much had happened in the almost two years and Mati remembered them vividly. She was not surprised that they were the only ones of their left in the area, they had always been close to one another, rooting them here. At times his pack seemed far away, but she often realized that it wasn't much of a journey. As they traveled the fairly small distance it came to light once again for the Church fey, they weren't far from each other at all.

" She did really well, it wasn't a long labor." Mati explained with a smile. As the pack's Nanny she had read up on deliveries in many different books and had stayed with her mother afterward to help with the afterbirth and settling the new mother and puppies into clean bedding. The home that her brother had been named after lingered though the tree line, the bright red brick shown through the green foliage. "They're so cute," She spoke with a larger smile and a growing excitement. The door came into view, "I think that they might keep their blue eyes.", she remarked as they made their way up the stairs a little more quickly.

There will still times where he wondered if he had made the right decision in leaving Crimson Dreams to strike out his own path. Mostly, those times were when he looked at his sister and his mother. Had it been selfish of him to leave them behind? Thoughts like that made his chest ache, because the last thing he ever wanted to do was to let them down. His whole life he had striven to make Anu proud and to keep Mati protected and safe. They never seemed to think he had made a bad choice though. Except for right at first, when he had told Mati he wasn't going back. Haven had never blamed her for that though. If their places had been switched, he probably would have reacted in a similar fashion. They were too close to not let something such as that hurt them. Thankfully though, that same closeness allowed them to move on and forgive one another their mistakes and harmful decisions.

"Good, I'm glad to hear that." Haven knew little of labor and the pains and dangers that were inherit with it. He only had a primordial sense of that and knew not why really that it worried him. He'd never witnessed a birth. If he had been here when his mother had given birth he would have, but he had been in Cours. It was a mysterious thing, the business of bringing life into the world, and he knew that he would never fully understand it. "I can't wait to see them," he said, his tail beginning to swing back and forth as they approached the entrance to the manor. "I hope they do. They're her's, after all." The male that had sired them didn't matter. Anu was their parent and she deserved to have her blood kin take after her appearance.

Feel free to PP Anu leaving and such Big Grin

Though their lives were separate and even distant at times, when they did return to one another's side it was as if they had never been apart. She felt content in his presence just as she had when they were puppies, and she could so easily fall back to the days when they lived under the same roof. When ever they came together there were a few moments spent catching up, and then each settled into the task at hand or simply enjoyed each other's company.

Mati was excited to see the new puppies, even though she had checked up on them just that morning. It was something in her that made her a proper pup-sitter, that need to care and mother as if they were her own. Her brothers deserved the best, just as all of the young in Crimson Dreams (and everywhere else) did. But these were her little brothers, and she cared for them at a much deeper level, something that would only be topped by the birth of her own distant-futuristic puppies. The brother and sister moved through the dimly light house, Mati's violet eyes looking towards the door that led to the room Anu had chosen on the ground floor. iIt seemed to be the popular choice for those that were about to give birth. Stairs at the later stages of a pregnancy was not exactly wise, and little legs tumbling down steps was something Mati didn't wish to hear about.

She's in that room, Mati instructed, leading Haven to the door and knocking. It was cracked, as was normal for Anu, and Mati pushed it open slighty at the call of a soft voice. Violet eyes looked into the darker room, the window shaded. Blue eyes looked up at them, clear as the purest water, and their mother gave a long heavy sigh. " Haven" She spoke, the tone happy and content. Mati knew the affect that her brother had on their mother, and she was glad for the peace that he brought the silver toned female.

We're here to see the boys, Momma She had told the older female that he would be visiting, but she was simply so excited that Haven had been able to come back with her that the news was too much not to speak aloud. Her bronze hued face was bright with a wide smile, turning to watch Haven's face. Anu stood, four legged with tail wagging. She needed a break, needed to step beneath the sun and sit among the trees she had honored in the naming on her young. "Is it nice out?" Anu asked, a smile on her face as she walked to the two Optime wolves. "Because they're all yours"

It was nice to know in advance that he was going to be a big brother this time around. The knowledge of his birth mother's second litter had crashed down around him as unexpectedly as could be: by meeting one of his little sister's. It had been quite unbelievable to him, and in his shock he had inadvertently hurt Rio's feelings. Thankfully though he had been able to correct his error and show her that his mixed feelings had nothing to do with her. Haven hadn't seen her since though, and hadn't met any of Rio's littermates. He had a sneaking suspicion one of them had hurt Princess' feelings, but he couldn't know for sure. Honestly, he wasn't sure if he wanted to. The feelings about those little half siblings were still a bit confused in his head. There was nothing but excitement and love for Anu's boys though, and he couldn't wait to set eyes upon them.

They came to the room and Mati knocked lightly and opened the door as they were invited in. A soft smile was already on his face when he walked into the dimly lit room that only grew with the sight of his adopted mother. "Hey Momma," he said quietly, his tail sweeping through the air. Being around her always seemed to bring him back in time, even more so than being with Mati. His sister had grown and changed just as he had, but Anu was the one constant in his life and he felt his memories involving her swirl about in his head each time they met. "Yeah, I wanted to come meet my little brothers." His heart jumped at the words. It was all still a little hard to believe. Only seeing them would truly make it real to him.

As she walked over to them Haven knelt down at and wrapped his arms around his mother's neck, giving her a loving hug. "It's a little hot, but the sun is bright," he answered, before softly adding, "I'm so glad you're okay." Of course he was glad that the pups were fine too, but he couldn't help but be more concerned about her well being. The Knight gave her a soft kiss on her cheek before standing up and letting her exit the room. Now that their mother was gone, he turned back to Mati, a sheepish look on his face. "I've uh, never really been around pups this young..." His jade eyes looked over the three bodies. They were so small.

pupppppies!

Mati would have shared the relieved feeling that the knowledge of their little brothers had brought Haven if he had expressed it. She wanted to be part of the lives of those she loved, and the birth of a new littler was something so large and pertinent to the Nanny that she felt hurt at the thought that she was left out of the loop and forgotten. Meeting Rio brought many feelings forward, and she thought the worst had been the sorrow she felt for never knowing and not being able to be there for the dark furred girl. But these boys would be her brothers, from the very beginning. They would not go a single day not knowing that she was there for them, and they would always know of Haven and from the very start see him as their big brother.

Having them all stand in the same room brought a distinct sense of nostalgia to the Nanny and artist. Making her watch the son and mother interact with the small glisten of a tear in her eye. The tall female stayed silent and allowed them to reconnect, knowing how often they got to see each other and knowing that their visits were rare.

As their mother left Mati turned to the small pups that lay on one of the many furs and blankets. They moved with a wobble, trying to use their legs to move within the small bundled mass of puppy that their three bodies created. Mati turned to face Haven as he spoke, a smile coming to her face, Don’t worry. She spoke with confidence, understanding if he was a bit uneasy around the newborns. Mati lowered herself to the floor, gesturing that he should to the same right beside her.

They only squeaked and cried and grumbled, their voices so young and primitive that nothing that resembled words were spoken. Their eyes were bright blue, nothing muddled that told of them changing to brown and yellows. Gently Mati picked the first puppy closest to her, he was fairly limp in her hands, caring little that she wished to hold or restrain his clumsy movements. Cross your legs, and hold him gently in your lap. Mati handed Haven the pup, and then took hold of the other two with two experienced hands, plopping them into her lap.

That’s Alder, She spoke of the large pup in his lap, his dark face and bigger body making it easy to pick him out of the trio. He was the most docile, making him the best for the male to hold. The others, squirmed in her lap, puppy teeth seeking to nip her hands.

yay! such a different mood than the "I'm pregnant" thread xD 300+

It was true, when Anu had first told him about being pregnant, he hadn't reacted in the best possible way. There had been some jealousy on his part, wanting to remain his mother's favorite son and not knowing how to cope with the idea of sharing her with new lives. He had quickly gotten over those idea though, for how could he begrudge her something so fulfilling? Haven knew what an absolutely wonderful mother Anu was and he would have been nothing short of a blind git to be too concerned with his own bad feelings to feel the happiness she deserved. They still whispered in his ear from time to time, but he worked his hardest not to give them any credence. What he needed to worry about was being a good brother, not about how the pups might negatively affect his life and relationship with his mother. New pups wouldn't make her love him any less. It was foolishness to think so.

He was glad that Mati was here with him for this first encounter. Not only did it help to dissuade any lingering negativity, but she knew how to handle pups and he quite honestly did not. It wasn't long after Savina and Kansas' first litter was born that he had fled Crimson Dreams and there were no youngsters in Cours that he had contact with. Females had instincts to help them along in these situations if they didn't have experience. Males, like him, were not so blessed. Mati went and had a seat by where they were cuddle together and he joined her on the floor, looking at the tiny forms with excitement and nervousness.

The Knight watched with intense curiosity as his sister picked up the first pup, his ears straining forward, nose sniffing and twitching to catch the young one's scent. She told him what to do and he complied. When the pup was handed over to him, his eyes grew wide with wonder. Carefully he set the little body in his lap, his hands placed on either side to make sure he didn't tumble or fall. It was so amazing, that life could come in so small a package and grow up to be their size. Being put temporarily in charge of that delicate life, he felt warmth seep into his chest and wrap around his heart, a tie binding him to the male pup. "Alder," he repeated almost breathlessly. His jades glanced over at his sister's lap, the two other pups much more mobile than the one in his lap. "What're their names?" Haven was a little overwhelmed by this whole experience, but was enjoying it immensely regardless.

She felt it her duty to welcome the new lives of the Dreaming pack into the world. Mati had attended all the births since she had been young, starting with Cambi’s. She had mixed feelings about this litter when she was first told, but that had lasts mere moments. Her mother was a creature just like they all were, and her new relationship with the Marino female had taught her that some feelings could not be stopped. And more simply it was her mother’s happiness that made the pregnancy an acceptable fact, and the blue eyed female’s color had never been brighter. The Church fey couldn’t be upset about that.

All she could feel from her brother was a bit of unease, all that she attributed to inexperience with such small pups. She would never guess that he had ever felt negatively towards the situation. There was a light that was lit in his green eyes, and she watched his face closely to catch his reaction. Her own features were smiling softly. The two tawny gray and light tan boys moved in her lap, puppy teeth gnawing on her fingers as if they were chew toys. They teeth were needle sharp, but she was used to it and her fur would save her from the worst of it.

Cypress and Oak. Mati explained as she lifted up each pup at the call of his name. Oak would always be lighter then the others, and Cypress held a darker mix of blacks that didn’t speak of Anu at the least. Of course the dark face of Alder was unmistakable. Makes you want to have your own, doesn’t it? She spoke as she glanced over to her brother, trying to catch his reaction. Maybe he was ready, she was certainly sure that nieces and nephews would be wonderful. Of course, a few of her own would be nothing short of splendid miracle. But those were secret wishes for another day.

He knew Mati had a lot of experience in this area and that she loved to care for the little lives that came into the pack. She had taken the co-rank of Nanny after all, and he had no doubt that she did her job better than anyone else could. His sister had always had a gentle, kind, and loving soul. Despite the difference in their size, she had always been the one that he had striven to protect. When they had been little, Brooklyn would pick on her, and he would always come to her defense. Their bond had been cemented in those early days and it had never weakened, even if they had had their problems. It was no wonder that they were the only ones left and honestly Haven didn't mind. As long as Mati was close he could be content.

The tiny body of his little brother was warm in his lap, and every so carefully he ran a finger down the pup's back. A soft comforting stroke, or at least he hoped that was what it felt like to the little wolf. He was nervous to do anything more than that, knowing how fragile that little body was. Haven would never forgive himself if he did anything to hurt his mother's new pups. His jade eyes watched as Mati pointed out the names that belonged to the other two pups. His smile grew, the names were exactly what he would have imagined their mother picking. Named after the trees she loved. "Cypress and Oak," he repeated. "Those names, they're so her." His smile curved humorously.

His sister's question caught him a little off guard, and he could feel his face heat beneath his ochre fur. Green eyes looked over to her, his expression turning a bit sheepish. "I uh, I don't know. I mean, yes, but being a father...it's a little intimidating. I'm worried I'd mess it all up," he confided. Not to mention he still felt so young, at least too young to be bringing life into the world. Maybe he was just dragging his feet though, in just a few months he'd be two years old. Still, the idea of fatherhood made him nervous. He'd never had a father. Would he be able to do it? "What about you?" To his knowledge there was no one special like that in his sister's life.

It seemed like they all had their roles, traits embedded within them that made them suited for certain things. Mati could never do what Haven did, and patrolling the borders was as gallant as she could truly be. Where he lacked in experience with puppies Haven made up ten fold in many other areas. He was good at many things, more then Mati believed she was herself, and so his awkwardness was slightly amusing to the brown toned woman. He seemed afraid he might break the large round pup, and Mati knew for sure the least breakable of them all was the large boned Alder. She figured he would be taller then her some day, his paws so big she couldn’t imagine what sort of blood he was mixed with.

I don’t think she consulted a soul, picking them all herself. She waited too, a few days before naming them. it was like their mother could see their personalities at such a young age, testing the sound of them before settling with the three. She didn’t know where he own name came from, and liked that the boys had something solid as a representation of their namesake and their strength.

You would be a great father. Mati said with confidence. Of course it was a scary idea, for weren’t they this young just a sort time ago? Time had passed so quickly and the thought that another birthday would pass this fall made her head spin a little bit. But he had a mate, and thus more equip to have a litter then their mother. You could practice on these guys. She said as she pulled her finger out of Cypress’ mouth, shaking it to alleviate the pain.

I do, badly. She admitted. Maybe it was just the presence of her little brothers that made her wish to be a mother, but Mati had always thought she felt the urge more then most. It had been quite the secret until now. But everything is so complicated. She said with a sigh and a shrug, knowing that her life with Cambria wouldn’t be as simple as his with Princess, at least in this department.

As small as the pup was in comparison to him, when compared to the other pups of the litter he could see that Alder was built heavier and that his paws were larger. It was obvious that he hadn't taken that from Anu. One would think that pups would be an equal mix of both sire and dam, but that almost never seemed to be completely the case. Haven himself had taken, in body and color at least, completely after his sire. His fur was a bit shorter and his orange coloring was unique. It seemed that Alder too would be taking after that line of his blood. In the long run though, blood didn't matter nearly as much as the actual emotional connections. His physical appearance was the only thing he had in common with the man that had contributed his genes, and his connection with his birth mother was more or less severed. Anu was the one he still clung to, and these little boys were lucky to have her.

Parenthood wasn't something that he and Princess had discussed. It wouldn't surprise him if she had similar fears to him. Her mother had been awful, though a bad example was better than none at all. At least Princess would know how not to act. His sister's words made him smile, feeling a bit better about his concerns. "Thanks Mati." Still, he didn't know if he could breach the topic to his mate. He wouldn't even know how to start such a conversation. "Yeah, I guess you're right," he said brightly. As Mati removed her finger from their brother's mouth, Haven offered his up to Alder, seeing if the little guy wanted to chew on the digit as his littermates did.

It didn't surprise him that Mati wanted to be a mother. He knew without even having to ponder it that she would be the best sort of parent any pup could ask for. Also females seemed to have those urges where males did not. It wasn't that Haven't didn't want to be a parent, it just wasn't something he had given much thought to and there was nothing pulling him in that direction currently. Her next words made him pause though, and he looked to her curiously. "Why?" He didn't understand. Not having a guy at the moment would make it kind of complicated, he guessed, but it wasn't anything that couldn't be remedied.

lulz

Mati had always felt suited for the role of mother. She knew where Haven’s fears might come from, since their father was so little to them, and at the same time so much. He was nothing of a role model, his presence a single meeting that had ended quickly and one she could hardly remember. But then his memory was heavy on all their shoulders. He was a rapist and likely a murderer and evil in so many ways. It made things difficult, since it was near impossible to not come to the image of one’s self being a parent without remembered their own.

But they had learned many things from the father and mother that had failed them. They had grown because of it, and because of the tan and silver mother they did still have. They also had each other, the last of four and yet Mati could not imagine her life any other way. Life had been complicated back then, and now her path was straighter and easier then it ever had been. Would her other siblings simply bring those complication back with them?

Oak lay on her lap, stretching out and pawing at her leg with a yawn. His blue eyes blinked heavily and his chest grumbled something that spoke of his sudden tiredness. Mati kept the darker Cypress on her other leg, allowing the tan and red boy to fall asleep while she bounced his brother around in the hopes of tiring him out as well. She hadn’t meant to bring this conversation forward, more comfortable talking about the pups or about Haven then herself. She did not openly express the details of her relationship with Cambria often, and she found it hard to just tell Haven that she was like their mother.

It was not shame, merely a frail sense of fear that was brought on because this was her brother and she needed his approval more then anyone else’s. Kinda the same thing with Momma. She said first, maybe to ease in the next sentence she spoke. Her fear was gone know, manybe since she figured he could guess it already. I’m madly in love with Cambria Marino, Savina’s daughter. She smiled then on the verge of laughing since it was so very true and yet sounded like something one might joke about, the words so bold that they would knock over anyone that wasn’t expecting them.

Haven supposed he too had examples of what not to do. Anu provided a shining example of how to raise children, but the Aatte wasn't sure how a father and mother were different or similar. It was an experience he had simply never had. Conri had never had a physical presence in his life, aside from that one meeting. It was what the man had done that had hung over him like a dark, suffocating shadow. He had also never witnessed any other fathers in his life, really. There had been his uncle DaVinci, but he had only seen him with his son once and Haven had never thought of him as an adoptive father figure. Even his closest friend, Heath, hadn't grown up with a father. Part of what drew them together was the fact that their pasts regarding that very subject were so similar. He wanted to believe that he could be a good father, because he didn't want to have a negative impact on his future children's lives.

Alder nibbled lightly on his finger. He was surprised at how sharp those little teeth were, like needles, but he didn't jerk his hand away. The small pain that came with this was nothing compared to things he had felt before. Besides, he could suffer some discomfort to entertain his little brother. That was all part of the job after all, right? Smiling down at the little boy, his eyes turned back to his sister as the silence after his question dragged on. She seemed to hesitate and he wasn't entirely sure why. It seemed a simple and innocent enough question to him. That, and Mati knew that she could share anything with him. No matter what she had to say, he would still love her for nothing could ever change that.

Her first words confused him for a second before the meaning sunk in. His sister liked girls too? That certainly wasn't expected. She had had some kind of feelings for Princess' brother before he left, hadn't she? Not that it really mattered in the least, he was simply stunned a little at the sudden change in direction. The next admission served to spin him around completely so that he almost felt physically dizzy. For a moment or two he probably resembled a stunned deer while his mind processed this sudden new information about his beloved sister. As soon as he was able to wrap his head fully about it though, his broad smile returned with renewed light. "Really? That's great! Congratulations!" Anything that made his sister happy would make him happy. Plus, selfishly, he couldn't help but be thrilled with the idea that he wouldn't have to keep a close watch on any male suitors for her. As with their mother, Haven was much more comfortable with the idea of her being with another woman.

They would certainly rise above the poor examples that their birth parents had been. Mati had no intention on being like the female that had given birth to her, and she had no plans on allowing any puppies in her care to feel a fraction of what she had the day the white wolfess had left them and for what seemed like forever after. She would do everything in her power to shield them from that.

But the two siblings needed to remember that they were not alone. They had a mother that loved them, one that had never disappointed them. They had someone that loved them, and that supported them so passionately that it seemed like there wasn’t a single shadow in their view of the future.

And then they had each other. Pack alliances nor distance would keep them apart, and with that they had something their good-mother or lovers couldn’t give them. Looking at Haven, Mati saw a mirror that played out their past. All she needed was a glance to remember it all, and remember how not to be and at the same moment how exactly she should be.

Mati waited in silence, her eyes looking down at the two male pups that occupied her lap. She was unsure how Haven would take this news, for she had blurted pretty unexpectedly. She knew that he wasn’t narrow minded, being raised by two females meant they had been born with a wider mindset then most. But still, that relationship hadn’t worked out and neither had any they had seen between two wolves of the same sex. But she didn’t believe that he would reject her for it. Her brother would never do that.

Purple eyes looked up, stealing a glance and finding that she had startled him. But he didn’t look disgusted or mortified like some might imagine, he wore the shocked face that Mati expected. Though, when she saw the shock on his face turn into such a smile and his voice brought such supportive words Mati didn’t know how to respond. She had been ecstatic that he and Princess had finally settled down and called a spade a spade and made it official. Mati wanted her brother happy, and knew Princess did. What ever happened in the past was done, those feelings gone. She hoped that his chest felt this big and his heart almost aching at the happiness of his sibling’s approval. Mati felt as if she could cry.

Thanks. She said, now almost bashful of how emotional she felt. I’m pretty sure she is madly in love with me too. There was evident humor in her voice, purely joking. She knew how Cambi felt, without question. We’re not as official you and Princess are. But I want to be, someday. She wasn’t sure what their next step would be, since she wanted it all and yet was too cautious to make any sort of leap.

Despite everything that had gone wrong with their family, and everything that it lacked, Haven was happy with what he did have. He had Anu, and even if both of his other parents had failed and let him down, she never had. It was a little odd, that the one parent he had that had no blood ties to him was the one that had never proved false. It only proved to him that family had little to do with blood. Not when it came down to the core of things. Anu always had and always would mean more to him than either of his birth parents. He knew Mati felt the same way, even if she wasn't quite as close to their adopted mother as he was. Similarly, it didn't matter that their other two siblings had long disappeared from the lands. They still had each other, and really that was all either of them had ever needed. No matter what Haven would always be there for her, and he knew that he would always be able to depend on Mati.

She mostly kept her sights locked on the two pups in her lap as he digested the altering information she had given him. That was probably best, since it took him some time to come to terms with the revelation. He had thought that she liked males, but apparently that had changed. Thankfully their shared background gave them both the ability easily accept such things. Two females together had never seemed odd to him when he was little, and it still didn't seem out of the ordinary now. For the first few months of his life it had been perfectly ordinary. Being raised in the environment he had been, he believed that your heart loved who it loved and it didn't matter what gender or species that person was. As long as you were happy, nothing else mattered.

When things had first started between him and Princess, Mati hadn't had the best opinion of the Chance girl and Haven had spent a lot of time worrying about the relationship between the two. As much as he cared for Princess, he didn't think he could tie himself to someone that his sister didn't like for he didn't want anything to put a rift between them. After Ares had left, things seemed to have changed, and after Mati was able to accept Princess as she was, Haven was able to let his worries slide away and was able to fully commit himself to her. He was as happy as he had ever been and he had always wanted Mati to feel that happiness too. As she spoke of the Marino girl, he could tell that she was feeling that same thing that he felt for Princess. If it hadn't been for their little brothers in their laps, he would have given her a great big hug.

"You don't have to thank me, you know I just want to see you happy," he said with a lopsided grin. Had she really feared he wouldn't be able to accept this? "Of course she is, I mean, come on Mati, what's not to be madly in love with about you?" There was evident humor in his question, but he truly meant every word that he had just said. To him she was absolutely wonderful and deserved nothing but the best. "You'll know when the time is right. You can't rush these things," he assured her. "I'd loved her for a long time before I asked her to be my mate. One day I just knew though, I knew that it was time to take that final plunge. If Cambria loves you as much as you love her, it'll all work out." One thing he believed was that love could conquer anything.

Mati was one that looked for more, looked for better. But in the aspects of her family she was content and with the one female that held her heart Mati knew Cambira was beyond what the Church fey could ever deserve. But in the past the bronze and tan female had wondered often and wasted more time that she would like to admit pondering on a life that could have been different. If their father hadn’t turned into a monster, if they had had two parents that stayed together, even until now. But then she wouldn’t have become who she was, Haven as well. They would be different, and for the first time in her life Mati was content in who she was.

She wanted Haven to be proud of who she was, wanted him to accept the reality in which she lived. Mati was proud of Haven, and though it hadn’t been easy to accept him moving from the pack lands she didn’t love him any less. It only made her love him more, to make sure that their relationship didn’t fall apart or dull like they had with her other siblings. The fact that he was happy for her threatened to bring tears to her eyes, and made any knot in her stomach ease and untangle. His words made her heart warm and she smiled bashfully and laugh lightly. She wasn’t sure about that, there was plenty that the Church fey had to work on.

As her brother explained how long it had taken him to finally ask Princess to be his mate Mati looked back down at the two pups in her lap. Would she be holding her nieces and nephews someday soon? The Dreamer hoped that she would, and wanted to see Haven as a father. Though in the past there had been so many doubts surrounding Princess the violet eyed sister was now confident in their relationship and that she wouldn’t hurt her brother. She took a breath, exhaling slowly and looked back to his white accented face. I know I can’t try to rush things, I need to just let it all happen. But it was the lack of control that she was always scared of. I wish it was easy to see what’s going to happen. Mati admitted, knowing it was a foolish hope and giving a small smile.

We all deserve happiness. Mati said, slightly out of the blue and yet it felt relevant as the two siblings held their small helpless brothers.

One of the many things the two siblings both held was the need to strive and make themselves better. They had both fallen, given in to the weight of their heritage before (though Haven more dramatically). Now though they had come to live with those truths, even if they could not accept them, and they both wanted to be better than the parents that had created them. Haven would work his entire life to be the opposite of their father, and he had a feeling that Mati was striving for a similar goal in regards to their pale mother. Ever since he had been pulled out of the slump of his despair, he had worked tirelessly to better himself and he doubted that he would ever stop working to make himself better. The man felt that same drive mirrored in his sister, but he had always seen her as perfect. He doubted he could ever see her any other way. Love gave him rose-colored glasses, but he didn't care.

He had always been proud of Mati. Had always loved her and trusted her moral judgment above his own. Haven had made some serious mistakes in the past, but his sister always seemed so steadfast and sure of what was right and what was wrong. The Knight, too, had a strong moral compass, but Mati hadn't slipped up as he had in the past. He knew that she had doubted herself at times and hadn't know what to do with her life, but he had always known that she would figure things out, and she had. She was one of the most valued members of their birth pack and worked to help nurture and care for all the pups here. And now she had found love too. That kind of love made life seem complete, and if anyone deserved a complete and full life, if was his sister. As he smiled at her, it held all his warmth and love for her. Nothing would ever tear them apart. Not ever.

Making such a big leap was never easy, even when you were sure of the other person's love. Putting yourself out there like that was hard, especially when there was no guarantee that what you wanted to happen would. "Yeah, I think we all wish that," he agreed, tickling Alder's back. "Even when I did ask Princess I was worried she might say no. I knew she loved me as much as I loved her, but you just can't be sure in that situation. All your fears come to the surface." His jade eyes looked to his sister knowingly. "Still, you just have to go for it and believe that things will happen as they're meant to." The way he and Princess had met was not how he had expected to first meet his future mate. That had been the way it had turned out though, and Haven couldn't say he regretted it.

"Yes, we do," he agreed. They had all suffered more than their fair share of hardships. It was about time that things started going their way. After all, they were good people, even if their parents weren't.

The two boys in her lap had settled, both drifting off to sleep. Their bodies became still and heavy as they leaned against her hands and curled long the curve of her leg and arm. They were an example of the things that living could bring. They were surprise and joy and fear and worry all in small bundles of breath and fur. Mati had never expected them to be born, not from Anu. She had thought that Haven would be the only brother that she would know and have in her life. Yet here they were to disprove that idea. It made her think that anything was possible, made her believe that all the wants that she had felt could actually become real. The belief that the need to strive beyond the troubles of her birth mother and their father’s history was an effort that would bring them true happiness was not a foolish one. Anything seemed possible.

Her relationship with Cambria seemed like a dream at times, like a hope-filled wish that her vivid imagination concocted. Mati did not always feel that she deserved it, deserved someone as wonderful as the Marino woman. She knew that Haven was worthy Princess, and truly deserved such happiness after the hardships that he had faced. He had fallen so far in the past, and Mati had never thought that it was his doing that made him leave and seek the refuge of a bottle. It had been their father, their mother that had allow him to become so lost. Because he had been able to claw his way out of that hole Haven deserved his mate. At times Mati felt that she hadn’t yet earned her happiness.

She listened closely, understanding completely how fear seemed so alive and close to her heart when she thought about changing what she and Cambi had, even if it was a good change. It was like all the happiness that she wished to feel had to battle through the anxiety. She looked to his green eyes, experienced words falling into her chest and touching her heart. There was so much that she wanted, not just for herself but for the woman she loved and for her pack and family. Just need to take the leap. She said idly, giving him a small smile. She knew she couldn’t fly, and she was so bad at just giving into gravity. Mati knew what it was like to feel like she had lost Cambria, the dread and the tearing pain that had come to her with she had pulled herself from the falling barn. It was the worst feeling she had ever experienced, and the possibility of feeling it again made her head hurt.

Lets let these guys sleep, or they’ll be cranky for Momma later. She spoke, the Nanny in her coming forth again. Her large hands picked up Oak, cradling his head and placed him in the nest of blankets and furs that their mother had made for them. Cypress came next and Mati reached for Alder. They would likely wish to eat soon, Mati could smell the silver and tan woman near by, likely sitting beyond the door and allowing the sibling as much time as they needed.
