private for Anann Big Grin

The grayed muzzled woman sat, back straight, in a form that had not been used lately. It had taken her time to change from the four legs that had been so comfortable for her and the body that she had chosen for her pregnancy as well as caring for the newborn pups. But they were older now, changing daily and so Anu felt it just that she change as well. For years she had shifted between the two conditions regularly, keeping the transition fresh in her mind as well as her body limber and willing. Her mane was long, coming past her shoulders, and she touched her fingers together mindlessly as if she needed to gain proper use of them once again.

Light blue eyes looked out into the clearing, a quiet place where she had brought them many times. It was far enough from the Manor to call the travel a good solid walk and yet close enough that if need be Anu could call for her pack and family. The trees hadn’t rooted among the short grass and clover chilled by the shade of the branches that hovered over it. It was perfect, guarded and yet till open enough that the entire pack could fit if necessary. They fey sat with a book, filled with pictures of flowers and plant, open in her lap as her ears and one eye watched over the games that were played before her.

Cypress growled as Oak bark while Alder howled. The three played well, but too often did the largest but most sensitive come to her side for her protection against the bantering and pawing of his brothers. Straight silver and tan fur hid her eyes from view, chin lowered as she looked at the pictures of the flowers that supposedly lived in the area, someone had told her the general gist of the book’s cause. Alder pawed at her crossed legs, without a word searching for her attention and affection. A single blue eye looked at his face, knowing that to spoil him now would tarnish him. Delicate fingers rested in his cheek, but only a moment and with only a small smile before she pointed to the others and silently beckoned him back to his brothers.

Anann had finally given in to the stallion's constant pestering. Ever since Jazper had delivered the news of the birth of Anu's litter he had been driving Anann crazy, wanting to go visit the new mother and her three boys. Anann had been glad to hear that everyone was doing well, but she did not share the horse's enthusiasm at going for a visit. Young pups were one of the few things that made Anann uncomfortable and unsure of just exactly how to act. But Rem was persistent and it was inevitable that Anann would have to eventually cave in. So as it was, they made the short ride across the rolling hills and towards the manor were Anu and her budding family resided.

Anann had hesitated slightly at the borders, wondering if she announce herself before crossing the into dreamer territory. Anu had told her more than once that she was welcome on their lands. So she skipped the customary howl that she normally would have given before cross the border and headed towards the manor. As they neared the manor and its orchards though, the sounds of puppy play could be heard. The yipping and howling sent Rem trailing after the sounds at a trot, his rider powerless upon his back.

Upon reaching the edge of the clearing the small family occupied the horse slowed to walk, eyes scanning for the pups while his large angular ears swiveled towards the sounds of their play. The large beast would never allow himself to step on one of the young boys. Anu, Hello! Anann called out, waving to the seated Lt. General. Sliding off the back of her horse, she headed over to take a seat next to the tawny fem. Are you doing well? She certainly appeared to be. Similarly, Rem found a spot in the shade near the pups. Laying down were he could easily watching their antics and tempt the youths to come explore the large mass of horse, without danger of them falling under foot. Rem had been pestering me to come for a visit again. Making a jester towards the horse that intently watched the pups, eagerly awaiting for one to be come curious and brave enough to approach him.

yay yay yay!

It was a beautiful blossom, the petals pink and their rounded form curved into itself to created a bulb of fragile flesh. Her finger trailed the illustration, the words beneath it nothing but jumble for the illiterate creature. But she knew what it was called, knew how it could be transplanted, and knew how much water it needed as well as the amount of light that it enjoyed. It made her think of the female from Dahlia, the one that had come to her home and stayed for only a brief moment of time. She was a fragile as the flower, as fresh from the earth and just as beautiful. But it was not a pleasant thought, though the pain was not as fresh as it once was, and Anu quickly closed the book as her eyes looked up at the puppies that she didn’t need to share with anyone.

A voice drew her attention away, blinking the daze away. Her features lightened, her mouth curving into a surprised smile. The golden wolfess came through the trees, her greeting met with the smile and a bright tone, Anann! We’re dong very well, thank you.. With the appearance of guests the puppies trotted over to the wolfess, only to be surprised by the large horse that they hadn’t noticed at first. Blue eyes watched their reaction, the mother some how knowing that Rem wouldn’t trample any of them. Oak’s fur bristled as he looked wearily at the hoofed intruder, asking with a small growl trying to ask what it was that the horse wished from the canine group. Cypress fed from his brothers unknowing, but his tail wagged where Oak’s was stiff. Then Anu looked to her side as the horse lay down, searching for Alder.

He was seated beside the horse, quiet and simply looking at the massive creature. Black marked face pointed up at the long dark face, small nose sniffing the foreign scent, her tail moving back and forth in the grass. She was taken aback by his calm and his ease with the creature, for even when he looked to the new wolfess there was an apparent insecurity in his eye. I’m afraid that the apples are still not ripe yet. She replied, breaking away from the scene. How are things with you? I met your King recently, you have a kind leader. She only glanced at the horse and pup, while the two other boys turned their attention back to Anann.

The tawny leader of the dreamer pack seemed happy to see the pair, causing Anann's grin to broaden. She had hoped they were not interrupting private time for the family and it appeared they were not. Taking seat next to Anu, Anann looked to the young ones that were approaching, giving a soft laugh as one of the boys bristled, giving a small growl at the large horse. Anann could help but give a bit of giggle. Two of three seemed unsure of what to make of the horse, while the larger pup with his face smeared with a black mask seemed to already be making friends with Rem as they set nose to nose. Glad to hear everything is well. She waved her hand, dismissing the notion of the apples. Oh, its not the apples Rem wanted to see... Looking over at the horse as the he sniffed at the pup, ruffling his puppy fur with the gusts of warm, moist air from those large nostrils. Jazper came by our pack lands not long ago. Looking to learn about horses and bring news of three boys. Anann would have made a visit on her own, sooner or later. But Rem had continued to urge sooner rather than later and so here they were.

Anann peered over at the book sitting in the Lt. General's lap. Anu had said the last time they had met that she had cared for the orchard and the gardens, so the book of plants was of little surprise. We have been well. Anann was not surprised to hear words of kindness about her king. She had gotten to know the dog king a bit herself, though they were not particularly close by any means. They had simply made acquaintance, but she rather like him. Much like Heath, she felt he was someone that she could trust near instantly. In fact, the only one that she had met so far in her own pack that she had little trust for was the new Russo that had joined them recently. There was just something odd about that fellow. There was also Orin, but Anann hoped the girl would come around in her own time and realize that Anann was not that she though she was. Yes, I don't think I could ask for a better king than Vigilante. Though the name seemed rather ironic in comparison with his title. He seems to be a good man, with his mind and heart in the right place.

While the masked pup seemed more than content with Rem as his company, the other two seemed much more intrigued by the golden intruder. Anann gave them a timid smile. Jazper told me thier names. Oak, Alder and...Cypress? Who is who? She hoped she had remembered them correctly. She had recognized them as species of trees, even though she was no arborist and would be hard pressed to identify specific species. Still she was pretty good with names and faces.

Rem was slightly disappointed that he had only one the interest of one of the little bundles of joy, but one was better than none. After swapping sniffs with the child, Rem touched his soft, velvety nose to the cold, wet nose of the wolf pup. With a thick, yet nimble upper lip, Rem gave the pup a slight nudge in the cheek. A love pat of sorts from the horse. Though not all would recognize it as such. Looking over the other two, still intrigued by Anann, giving a soft knicker to see if he persuade them to investigate. Which brought another giggle from Anann. I think Rem's jealous that I'm getting more attention than he is. When it came to young pups, Anann had little clue as how to interact with them, aside from giving them her own timid smile.

Anu had plenty of time alone with the three small wolves. As any pack wolf did the Lt. General loved puppies, but she hadn’t had a group with her night and day since Mati was young. It seemed like a life time ago, and she felt like she had been a different wolf then. They were always together unless Anu gave them to Mati to care for which was rare, it was only then that she took time away. She patrolled the borders, doing her best to keep their scent alive and visible. It was nice to have the quiet back, the buzzing of clumsy movements, growls yips and whines not there to fill her ears. But she missed them, and was always happy to return. She had thought that she had known a deep connection with another being, but each time she came back to the three pups and they greeted her with bright blue eyes that mirrored her own and wagging tales she was reminded how deep blood could run.

Her brows lifted as Anann explained that Rem hadn’t come for apples as she had first assumed. And Anu smiled when she explain that Jazper had told her of her boys. It was nice of him to give the news. The tan and silver wolfess looked to the horse, who was laying with his nose extended and looking to examine Alder. He wanted to see the pups? She questioned with a small bit of surprise. The large pup merely sat, his water hue gaze pondering the likes of the hoofed creature just as much as Rem did him. She had never seen him so interested in another creature and so open to the possibility of meeting them. Normally he just looked from afar.

She was glad to hear that they both faired well. When the conversation turned to him, Anu commented on the King, Yes, I was glad to finally meet him. Anu spoke of the dog-king with a soft smile and a warm thought. I should have sought him out, but he ventured here not to long ago.

Cypress is the molted black and brown one there, she pointed to the small male that had crept the closest to Anann. He was eager to get to know her, excited and curious to know who she was and perhaps if she had brought gifts with her. this is Oak, She motioned to the pup that sat between the two adults, his eyes watching the Cours wolfess. and Rem’s friend is Alder. The one with the masked eyes

She looked to the pair then, just as the horse reach out to touch the timid pup. Her eyes grew hard, her body stiff as she anticipated the negative reaction that she had seen in the young boy at the reaching of others. He would run to her side, look for protection and be calmed by her voice and no other. But he didn’t act at all in the way she had expected. Instead Alder stood, and took a few steps closer. It was only Anann’s voice that broke Anu out of her dumbfounded surprise. She smiled, slightly crookedly, and spoke Alder seems to enjoy him. It was all that she could think to say.

The others’ ears swiveled at the new sound of the horse and first Oak and then Cypress, who had started to climb on Anann's lap, moved to see the big beast up close.

>.< fail wait

It was easy to conclude that they had come for apples. Especially since it had been Rem that insisted that they make the trip. Another trip would be made when the apples ripened, if not sooner for yet another visit to see the pups. As Anann watched Rem with the largest of the three boys, she felt sure they would be back again before the apples would be ready. Nodding, she added, "He has always loved little ones. Cours doesn't have any pups of its own yet, so he was quite excited to come for a visit." The only thought of relief in having a litter of her own someday was that Rem would be around to watch over them, if legend was to hold true.

Anann did not know much about the Crimson Dreams pack and had only met a handful of the members, namely the Lt. General and her family. Though she had seemed to make fast friends with Jazper, as well. He had even offered to turn her prized bear pelt into a cloak for her in exchange for a sparring match. Which was more than a fair trade in Anann's eyes for she needed little persuasion when it came to a friendly sparring match of any sort. "Yes, it is nice to have good neighbors, is it not?" She was glad to see the ties between their two packs growing only stronger. She knew little of the other packs that surrounded them, but in time she hoped make acquaintances and hopefully build even more friendly relations outside of her own pack lands.

Each of her boys was unique, though they all shared a version of their mother's blue eyes. There might still be time for the eyes to change from their puppy hue, but the blues of their eyes were vivid and clear and Anann felt it was quite unlikely they would change. "It seems they all share their mother's eyes," she said with a warm smile, softly ruffling the head of the closest to her with her fingers as Anu named them off. Unknowingly she held her breath as the small boy started to climb into her lap. Not knowing what to do or how to react. If she held any motherly instinct, she surely didn't know it and it had failed her thus far. So naturally when Rem at last won their interest there was a sense of relief. "Good, strong names." Anann had little doubt that the three would grow to be good men under the guidance of their mother and pack.

Rem bobbed his head excitedly as the pups ran over, his tangled mane bouncing along with it. Anann could not help but smiled as she watched the scene unfold. It could not be much different from the scenes that had played out when she had been that age. Though her memories from that long ago had seemed to fade and blur. There was no doubt that her life had been blessed with the presence of the friesian. "Rem seems rather taken with your boys as well." She could not remember the earliest of their days together, but watching Rem with Anu's litter still brought back what memories she did have of her early youth.

Anu had never thought that the horse would even have such a preference. In her mind it had been like taming a deer, whom she had thought to be not a lesser creature then her species but simply different in their mind set. It was not her initial thinking pattern for hoofed beasts, but Anu could willingly accept Rem’s mind to be just as her’s was and that found that his fondest of her pups was charming and heartwarming. She smiled softly at the idea of him wishing to meet them, and the kindness that Anann had to come along to experience it too. Anu had known that the birth of her litter would be a celebrated thing with in Crimson Dreams, but to think that others outside of her home were excited as well.

We are very lucky, there are many that don’t wish to be so friendly. They each new of packs that would rather expand and concur then be at peace with those that lived around them. There was always the chance for fighting and war, and Anu had learned to love the moments without fighting and learned to cherish the allies that could be made.

She looked to the nearest pup, his head turning as he felt her gaze on him. Of course their eyes could still change in time, but it was late for them to not be tainted with the hue of their forever color, and none held the slightest notion of brown or amber, no yellow or greens. Anu smiled, Yes, She said, wondering how it could have happened that they all relieved this recessive blessing. My own mother and father both had blue eyes. She commented, thinking of Gabriel and wondering if somewhere in his line he held it too. She doubted it, and took it as yet another miracle just as their very birth had been.

Its necessary to draw strength from those around us. She spoke softly, being one of those that looked to nature for more then just a pleasant scenery. The boys had found their way over to the horse quickly, and Alder crept closer. So close that he was now touching the black stallion. Anu was still taken aback by his change in courage, it was so very odd. The others were amused by the horse’s large nose, chirping puppy noises at him and climbing over one another to get closer.

I have never seen a horse like Rem. Anu admitted, some of her previous thoughts coming back to her. He is so very gentle with them.

<333 kinda unsure of this one, kinda got rambly I think xD

Anann had never been able to see horses as a prey animal. Having seen them used in war might of had a great deal to do with that thinking. With those like Rem though, it was clear there was much more behind those deep eyes than just primal instinct. They had a great deal of understanding, bring Anann to believe the horse was able to see into the soul and see the true nature others. When unable to read someone herself, it was Rem's reactions she would go off of. Anann watched the pups and Rem quite intently. It was like looking back in time on her own childhood.

There had been word of war when Anann had first come to these lands, though it seemed it had come to an end not long after. As far as she was aware it had not had too much affect on the south and eastern packs. A warrior she might be, but she had not come here just to get tangled in another war. Such a worthless thing. It might seem hypocritical of her, seeing as she was a warrior, even regarded by some as a goddess of war. She was what she was only out of defensive necessity. There would always be those two weak or unwilling to defend themselves and so the strong would always be needed. Anann nodded as Anu brought to mention just how lucky they were. "Indeed. Such things should be celebrated." She did not mean so literally, necessarily. It was easy though, to over look the good and only take note of the bad. Anann hoped Anu's boys with grow up in the lasting presence of peace. Young lives should never have to know of such things. Crimson Dreams would surely be such a perfect haven. The more of the dreamers Anann meet the her respect for the pack grew.

Anann's mind easily got caught up in thoughts of war when the subject was brushed. Though watching Rem and the pups seemed to be the perfect remedy. The large and plump Alder scooted closer to Rem as his brothers ran up. Rem giving the pup a gentle lick with his thick, pink tongue on the top of his head. Spiking the pup's hair straight up in the air. The bobbing, tangled mane had attracted the attention of the other two pups and after some initial investigation one found the courage to set teeth to the ever-tangled mass. It was hardly a nuisance to the horse what with his thick scalp. He swayed his neck and shoulders, letting the pups pull back, growling all the while. Leaning the other way, he dragged them a short distance in an unusual game of tug and war the pups had no chance of winning. Anann couldn't help but laugh. "He has had a lot of time with little ones. He was my main caretaker at that age." There were obvious things the horse had been unable to do for Anann and her siblings. But he was the one to watch over them. Guided them and taught them much about what it was to live a good and moral life.

'es all good!

Anu would forever grateful for the peace that had come over these lands when she found that she was pregnant. It was too much worry to wear, too much for the wolfess who had worried from them from the very start. But she was beginning to realize that they were not as fragile as she had once felt they where. They had survived the two months within her, the birth and there after. Now they played with a beast that was far greater in size then any wolf they had met. All of them wanted to meet the creature, and yet Alder’s reaction still mesmerized her. He was frightened of everyone, embarrassed and bashful even when they looked at him or spoke to him. But there was no shyness here, and it took the mother’s breath away to see him squeal in glee when the horse licked him and made his rough slightly longer the normal fur stand on end. His black tipped toes pawed at the horses face and his brothers soon entered and began to pull at Rem’s mane.

Instantly she grew worried and spoke, Be gentle boys. Though the horse didn’t seemed phased by the tugging at the least. The blue eyed woman looked at Anann as she spoke and gave a smile, I find it truly amazing. She spoke with obvious astonishment. Alder had moved away from his brother’s antics and pranced and pounced on the nearest hoof, looking at the horses face in the hopes that he would notice his effort. The pup made small noises that vaguely mimicked that of the stallion, shaking his head as Rem had. Anu knew he was playing pretend, she had seen him imagine himself as a bunny, and other times a frog.

My son Haven also has a horse. She spoke lightly, I imagine Cours has many? There is only one that I know of in these lands. Our only barn fell this spring, I don’t know where he is kept. Her words said as she thought loud. There was only a single horse that the Dreamer had seen, but she knew how who cared for him like Anann did Rem. It was all beyond the wolfess, who’s companions were either her kind or those of the garden.

Rem would let the pups pull at his mane until they grew tired, letting their playful growls and barks fill the air of the meadow. The little whelps not having enough weight to them to cause him any real discomfort. In fact it was the horse that was careful in his manner of play. Knowing that the tangled mass of mane could easily snag around the pups' teeth, he was careful not to jerk his mane away from them. Once they were caught up in the game of pulling as it mane though, he made it more interesting, giving each of the two pups pulling on his mane a push with his muzzle, sending them rolling.

It would be impossible not to smile, watching the antics of the pups and horse combined. "I doubt they can do any damage, though they might come away with a mouth full of hair! The horse shed about as bad as any wolf might. Anann reassured the worried mother. Anann laughed, soft and warm, watching the masked pup. "Look at Alder, that is too cute!" The largest pup pranced about like a little horse, shaking his head as Rem did so often. It was the most adorable thing Anann had seen. A broad smile across her face, though deep down there a bit of sadness. Wishing beyond hope that maybe one day she would be able to see her own children play with the large stallion. However an unlikely wish it maybe. Rem too found the pups antics adorable, making soft knickering sounds and nudging the pup gently, approving of his mimicking act he gave him yet another lick with his large, fat tongue.

"Yes, we have quite a few horses at our stables. Our Marshall, Heath, takes good care of them." The herd was a nice manageable size and Heath had done well to cull the specimens not suited for such a life, returning them to the wild herds. "I've heard that Aniway as horses as well, though I have yet to meet anyone from there." Though she hadn't been aware that the Dreamers had a horse of their own as well. It would do fine throughout the warmer months. "If the horse needs shelter for the winter, Im sure something could be arranged." Anann offered, assuming Heath would not mind that she did. After all the distance between the two packs was not so great that such an arrangement could be easily sorted.

sorry for the blah post ><;;

Anann’s words eased the new mother’s fears. The pups had never left the pack lands, never even ventured away alone. Playing with such a large creature was frightening at first for Anu, but after the passing of a few moments and the soothing words of the horse’s rider she was learning to allow the pup’s their fun. She smiled, picturing the sight of the three boys running back to her with clumps of dark hair in their teeth. Her eyes moved back to her most timid son, the boy moved in the best horse manner he could come up with and when the horse noticed his small tail waved more excitedly then Anu had ever seen. It was odd to think that this bashful boy was connecting more so with another species rather then his own brothers.

He is always pretending to be something else. She spoke with a soft reflective tone. She knew not why, but the masked boy liked to put on the personas of others rather then show his own soft and sweet natured self.

I know so little about their care, and of the one we have. There may be more. Anu said, and after she spoke them it seemed foolish for her to not notice a horse in their midst, they stayed away from her garden and created no trouble so such things often remained under her radar. I think it’s a brave thing, to trust such an large animal. Is it wrong for me to feel that Rem is an exception? His nature? Anu could see her sons trusting any horse now that they had met one that enjoyed their presence so greatly. She was worried that there might be ones that did not favor a pup under hoof. The golden wolfess’ advice had been appreciated thus far, and Anu sought just a bit more.

no worries this is kinda blah too!

The friesian would far out last the young ones that pulled and tugged has mane. The sounds of their growls and barks filled the small clearing. Though while the two were occupied with the rougher play the large pup with soot colored paws and a stain of the same color smeared across his face pranced about in front of the stallion while doing his best to mimic the sounds of the hooved beast. Anann smiled warmly at the tawny leaders comment on her son's behavior. He had been the first to investigate Rem while his brothers had been more intrigued by her presence. At the time she hadn't given it a bit a thought. Though as the play had unfolded it was easy to tell that while Alder might have been the largest of his brothers his playing was nothing near as rowdy as that of his brothers. The rowdier two pups were starting to wear down and eventually gave up their grip on the tangled mane. Having wasted plenty of energy in a game of tug and war, though it may have been a bit unorthodox method.

Anann found herself content to do nothing more than sit and enjoy the day. It was rare for her to sit without at least something to keep her hands busy but the company of the Dreaming leader and the distraction of the pups was enough to keep her from feeling idle.

Anann smiled has Anu questioned into the nature of her horse. There was no denying he was something of a rarity, though it was easy enough for the golden hurdle woman to forget the fact. "He is rather unique and he definitely see himself as our equal." How he was with pups was hardly what made him unique, at least not on its own. It was more the balance the horse could find between his fierce and gentle natures. "Most horses would be mindful of the young ones but I doubt another would play with them as he does."

Anu had noticed distinctly now as they played with the black horse that with their growing bodies, the boys were becoming more energetic and rambunctious. Of course it was simply expected, and she had seen such a thing while raising Mati and Haven. But she would have to steel herself for the future, and become used to their energy as she had grown older and with her age her bones had become weaker. There would be days where she would ask her daughter to look after them, as she might be too tired to on cold days. But then they would also be old enough to find their own company and adventures, and the mother would be allowed such rest.

She was pleased that they were able to get their energy out while playing with the horse, and the three seemed to be winding down and their calls less sharp and high. Oak and Cypress now both laid on their stomachs, gnawing at the horses mane from the relaxed position as Alder still hopped and whinnied but with less enthusiasm. The Dreamer smiled at them, and knew that they would sleep well tonight.

Her eyes came back to the golden female as she spoke to answer the question Anu had given. She nodded as she listened, finding it fascinating, and gave the Cours female a soft smile as she tried to understand the relationship between the horse and their kind. Alder made her look back at him and Rem, I have a feeling that at least of one them will seek out their companionship. I will send them to Cour des Miracles for training.

Short and rather blah

Horses had been a large part of everyday life where Anann had grown up. She could not imagine what would be like growing up without such a companion. She held a deep respect for them, largely in part because of Rem. A content smile was spread across her face as she watched the horse and litter from the shade. "It would be an honor," she said quite sincerely as she turned to look at the blue eyed leader. Even if it was Heath that mainly handled their training, Anann would be unable to resist getting her hands in it. Anann wouldn't be surprised at all to see Alder at the Miracles' stables one day. Though it was more of a guess if either of his brothers would take such an interest in the equines.

Anann stretched her arms up over her head, jaws stretching in a yawn. She leaned back against the trunk of the tree that shaded them. As if just watching the antics of those so young had some how worn her out. It was more just the fact that she wasn't really doing anything.

close soon??

Anu had known that there would be things that her sons would wish to know and learn that she would not be able to teach them. The mother had asked for the help of her pack before they were even born, and she was not too proud to ask for the help of her friends. It would worry the wolfess to death if she knew that the boys wished to ride or even be near horses without the training that she believed was required. She trusted Anann, for the woman was her friend and had saved her life before they even met, and she would trust her with her boys as well.

The pups were settling, and the group as a whole was beginning to feel the affects of the late afternoon. They should nap, Anu thought as she looked at the masked boy who had moved from hopping and prancing to curled around the horse’s hoof with eyes closed in a split moment. Perhaps its time for us to return to the Manor. Anu said after she felt her eyelids grow heavy. You are welcome to stay as long as you would like, you have free range here. Anu spoke with a smile to the golden female, she could certainly return the manor as well if she wished for a place to rest.
