Maybe we can backdate this a few days? o: wc:354

The weather outside seemed perfect to Ehno. For the past week the air appeared to content to linger somewhere between cool and warm and light, wispy clouds danced across the bright blue sky. More of the fluffy white clouds had drifted in today to cover the sky and dampen the sun’s bright rays without the threat of imminent rain. During the two years already spent in Nova Scotia, summer had quickly become his favorite season. The moderate summer days could remind him of home, at times. The sight of today’s calm, overcast skies, combined with the slight, lazy breeze that drifted in through the open window in his workshop had convinced Ehno to take his work outside for the day.

Larger projects had taken up much of the free time he set aside for his carpentry as of late, but today he decided something small and fun would be the perfect way to pass the time. He had begun with only a few small blocks of wood and a couple of the smaller carving blades he had managed to gather over the months. The idea for this project was one obtained long ago, back when he had started working on the first of many carpentry tasks. The Marino had been trying to put together a miniature model of the Manor together back then, when the young Mati had stumbled upon him. He recalled her mentioning the idea of creating little versions of Crimson Dreams members to go along with it, and it seemed like the just the thing to take up now to clear his head and enjoy the beautiful summer day.

Set up off to one side of Haven Manor’s front porch, the Italian man had spent the majority of the morning carving out four basic little figures of wolves in various poses, at the moment devoid of any distinguishing details that would set them apart individually. He finished smoothing out the wood on the tail of the fourth figure and set it down beside the other three, a small smile crawling to his lips at the sight of his work in progress.

Yet another day was here and Parker was off to find something else to investigate. Her trips outside were reasonably frequent and she was learning more and more about the world outside the manor. Walking down the stairs was getting easier and easier for the young Sadira girl as she seemed to be getting somewhat bigger. Taller though she was, she was still the smallest of her siblings, petite and quiet as always. Now, she was on her way outside yet again, if only to the front porch. She didn't take long trips outside without adults to supervise her, but short trips were alright it seemed. So long as she didn't venture out of sight of the manor such trips were deemed short. Her constant companion was her lamb, not quite as white as it had been when it was first given to her by her mother, but it was still in good condition. For her it wasn't a toy to be roughed up or abused. It was a soft, enjoyable thing to just have around, and it was special for sentimental reasons as well. Her mother had given it to her, and she would always remember it as that.

Her day was destined to be fun as usual for who should she discover on the porch but her uncle, Ehno. She knew who he was, and knew that he was family, mama's brother in fact, but she in all honesty had not hung out with him a whole lot, at least in comparison with some of her other family members. Of course, it made sense that she spent most of her time with her immediate family, even Mati because she was in charge of keeping an eye on the pups. However, there was no time like the present to hang out with her uncle, especially since she was very curious about what he was doing. The cinnamon sugar pup slowly and quietly sauntered up to Uncle Ehno, golden orbs looking from him to the small little figures he seemed to be making. She stood there watching for a moment before quietly setting her lamb down in an attempt to announce her presence. She wasn't sure if her uncle had noticed her yet, and she didn't really want to surprise him by suddenly appearing beside him.

It was good to be able to simply sit and lose himself in his little task. He could relax and focus on the details of his work instead of focusing on the details of his life in his idleness. It was much simpler for him to sit here on the porch and enjoy the occasional cool summer breeze as he picked up another small block of wood and went to work on it. Perhaps once he finished the basic pose for this little figure, he would go about sprucing them all up with little details. Later on he could tackle the task of painting the five little wolves, breathing life into them with simple colors.

He was half-way through the fifth little model when he noticed his quiet niece appear and settle her little lamb down nearby. The Marino turned to face her and a smile immediately sprung to his lips. The uncle was always happy to spend time with his nieces and nephews, playing little games with them or spoiling them with little gifts every so often. He hadn’t had much of a chance to spend time with Savina’s youngest litter once they had gotten big enough to wander about on their own. The little ones were always off adventuring, and Ehno often had tasks of his own to get done in and out of the pack lands, so it seemed that their paths didn’t always have a chance to cross. He was always glad for little moments like this to see his family members.

The man was certainly glad to see the cinnamon pup show up outside. Perhaps they could take the opportunity to spend the afternoon together. He placed the half-finished figure and his small carving blade down on the porch in front of him as he addressed her. “Hey there, Parker. Come to enjoy the nice weather today, too?”

Shadow fails so much u_u, sorry

It was not long before Uncle Ehno acknowledged her, and Parker greeted him with a beaming smile and wag of her tail. Leaving her lamb where it sat the petite Sadira pup strolled up to her Uncle, her golden orbs quickly falling to the figurines scattered around in front of him, including the half-finished one. The puzzled look on her face betrayed her curiosity. What were those things? They looked like wolves, toy wolves, but how were they made to look like that? Her eyes fell to the carving blade and a her eyes lit up, understanding now how these wooden figurines had been given their shape. Realizing that she had left her Uncle's question hanging on the air, rather rudely she quickly turned and nodded her head. Yes, she had come outside to enjoy the weather, or rather she had come outside to enjoy the outside.

The cinnamon sugar girl found herself lying on her underside by her Uncle, still intrigued by the small wolf figures he had obviously been working on. Golden orbs focused on the rough figures, noting that they lacked any defining characteristics, but still fascinated by her Uncle's ability to turn pieces of wood into beautiful little things such as this. How precisely he did this she, of course, had yet to learn, but she knew it involved a blade and a piece of wood. Likely the blade was used to cut away pieces of wood, and her Uncle would shape it into wolves with the right type of cuts and such things. Wow! That was just too cool! She just could not stop staring at them. Maybe, when she was older and could shift forms her Uncle would teach her how to do this. It looked like a great way to pass the time.

Shadow does not fail! <3 wc:306

Her bright smile was like a little spot of sunshine, speaking of her happiness without any need for words. The girl’s quiet nature reminded him in some ways of Harlowe’s own behavior as a pup. He had been a quiet boy, especially around strangers. He’d opened up to his family fairly quickly, but had taken much longer to gain that sort of comfort level around strangers. His son had seemed to grow out of it quick enough, proving it to be just another youthful phase. Perhaps she was going through something similar? Of course, Parker was quick to reveal to her uncle that she had no need for words at all, with her bright smile and enthusiastic nod in response to his question.

The girl was quick to settle down nearby and take notice of the little figurines he had been working on through the day. Her golden eyes seemed locked to them for a moment, and he could not help but smile a bit proudly at his little creations. He was pleased that he could do something fun and worthwhile with his spare time, and glad to see that his niece seemed to like them as well. Maybe he could show her a little of how it was done. He swept aside some of the loose shavings from the earlier figures he had worked on and picked up the half-finished one again. “Here,” he said, grabbing the small carving blade in his other hand. “This is how I do it.” Ehno held the figure lower so she could take a good look, and with a few careful, practiced movements took off a bit of the extra wood on the little wolf’s head, giving the ears more definition. He put the blade down once more and held the figure out for her to inspect. “Pretty easy.”

She would have stared forever at those little figurines, wondering how her uncle had precisely fashioned them. It was obvious to her that it had something to do with the small blade in front of her, for the figurines had evidence of pieces of wood being gradually shaved from them. This was not hard to figure out with all the wood shavings littering the surrounding area. Of course, there was the possibility that the blade just happened to be there and Uncle Ehno actually used his teeth to make these things. Luperci teeth were strong enough to do that, right? The more she thought about it, though, the more Parker realized the absurdity of her idea. If Uncle Ehno had chewed the wood to form the figurines, then he would get splinters in his tongue. An experienced adult like himself would never do something in such an unnecessarily harmful way.

Her obvious curiosity was quickly sated when her uncle reached for the carving blade and the unfinished figure. Then with a skilled cut of the knife, he shaved off a piece of excess wood from the unfinished wolf's head. That was pretty easy, though Parker doubted she could do such a thing herself, especially at this stage of her life. Perhaps, though, when she was older and could shift forms like the grown-ups then she could ask Uncle Ehno to teach her. For now, though, she was simply content to sit and watch with a fascinated gleam in her golden orbs. Her smile said everything about how cool she thought this all was. That was Parker's thing. She loved to learn about new stuff because she wanted to be really smart like her mama and daddy someday. However, it would surely take awhile before she knew even half as much as them. They had been alive a lot longer, and therefore had had a lot more time to learn stuff. That was just fine, though. She was in no hurry. Today she was learning from Uncle Ehno, that was all that mattered for now.

Ehno was pleased to see the smile of approval paint Parker's lips. This whole task of his was mainly thought up as a way to kill time in a creative way. He liked taking on fun little projects such as this when he was between bigger projects or had some spare time. It was something fun to do that didn't occupy a whole lot of his time, and he amused himself with the simplicity of it. Knowing that he wasn't the only one to take enjoyment from the sight of the little wolf figurines pleased him. It made the little time-wasting project feel much more productive.

The Marino continued to work a little more on the figurine in his hand, being sure to hold it low enough so that his niece could get a good view of it as he worked. He adjusted his grip on the tool so that his fingers rested closer to the blade and began to carve in a few little details. He gave the eyes and ears more definition, and smoothed out the nose of the little figure. Finally he added a cheerful smile to its face. He swept away the tiny shavings that had dropped and then placed the little figure in front of the girl. "How about we make this one a little Parker?" he asked, smiling. "And all of these ones," he motioned to the rest of the figurines, "can be your siblings?" A miniature family of wolves, based on their family.

Sorry for the delay. School's been keeping me busy lol.

As her uncle worked on the figurine, Parker had her eyes glued to every cut of the knife against the wood, shaving off small curls that in themselves looked interesting. Right before her golden gaze the figurine became more wolf-like, her uncle giving life to the wood as he shaped it. She would love to be able to do this some day, though she would have to grow up a bit more first. She needed to be able to shift forms like the adults. Carving required the use of hands, not paws. Come to think of it there were many activities that Parker wished to do that required a bipedal form. That did not bother her too much, as she could spend lots of time watching and learning about the things that interested her at this stage in her life. She would be able to put her knowledge to practice when she could shift.

With a few more carves the figurine was set down for her to inspect, which she did eagerly, leaning forward to get a closer look. Uncle Ehno then asked her opinion on what to do with the figurine. He wanted to make it look like her! And he wanted to make the others look like more of her family. She could just see the figurines that would end up looking like Artemis and Silvano. With the amount of detail that her uncle put into these figurines, he would without a doubt be able to capture their personalities in wooden form. The sunshine girl immediately expressed her approval with a wide-eyed smile and an excited nod of her head. She was both very flattered and eager to see the finished product. She would watch Ehno every step of the way if she could, and right now she showed no signs of running out of energy. It took a lot to tire Parker out, and fortunately she was nowhere near that point. Her body was full of energy which she was happy to direct towards focusing on Uncle Ehno's skilled hands and carving blade.
