learing at an Early Age

Cypressss!

What a day! Vivid cobalt blue eyes looked up at the sky, the clouds looking more like the he round bottoms of cotton tailed bunnies then the wisps of a normal atmosphere. The young male bounded out of the manor, running quickly as he found the door notched open, the smell of the out doors had been so tempting and Alder could not help but scurry out while he had the chance. Momma had left early as she did sometimes, off to do what she needed to in order to be a leader of the pack. Still he did not know what that was in detail, but he knew she needed to go and could understand that. He was on his own, and he had a plan.

He blinked, dark eyelids closing quickly against the glare of the high Sun. It was late! He found as he looked from the clouds to the high-seated orb, and it left spots in his gaze as he looked away. His lips curved into a circle as he blinked them away, wonder how the Sun could do such a thing from so far away. Once they were gone Alder shook out hs shaggy puppy coat and bounded down the steps. Even in his young age he was growing taller then his brothers, his legs even felt longer then they had been the day before. His paws were now a distinct black hue, ink dipped and rising up his wrists and ankles to fade into the earth and gray tones of his tawny body.

Large ears flopped against his head as he ran through the yard and through the orchard. It was too late to try to follow birds, but he knew someone he might be able to find. The tree-named Dreamer walked gingerly through the fallen apples that lined the floor of the orchard, his nose on the ground and searching for the scent that was left by the small brown friends. It was growing stronger, and stronger, and as he walked slowly and softly into the grasses that had grown tall and think by one of the rows of trees Alder glance at the small but large eared moving thing that was between the blades. He smiled, so wide and broad that it could have swallowed the bunny whole.

x.x i here nows

The orchards and gardens were a wondrous place. Full of all kind of wonders to be discovered. Everything from tiny bugs and snails to the larger squirrels and rabbits. Someday Cypress would come to realize that the bunnies and squirrels were not quite as large as they appeared to him now, but currently he was hardly bigger than some of the rabbits that roamed the orchard and not nearly as fast. Large, brown paws carried the mottled pup across the orchard at a trot. He was looking for no particular adventure as he passed through the splotches of shaded, cool grass and those that had been warmed by the sun.

Puppy legs grew tired quickly and having yet to find a worthy adventure Cypress plopped to the ground were the grass was warm. Casted in shade only when the sun passed behind the poofy clouds that were dotted across the sky. Rolling on his belly, he looked up at the sky. With perfect clouds for seeing all kinds of things in there slowly changing shapes. Many looked like nothing at all and he quickly gave up cloud watching, as yawn parted his maw. Rolling back over into his belly, with eyes tightly shut against the bright sun Cypress stretched out in the grass, absorbing the warmth provided by the uncovered sun. It wasn't long before sleep overcame him, and he drifted off a land of puppy dreams were he chased bunnies and squirrels through an orchard quite like the one he dozed silently in.

Even in dreaming, his was restless. Paws twitching as he dreamed of running. Nose and Ears twitching at the scents and sounds of his dreamland. It was unusual though, for as the dreamland began to fade away, the scents and sounds became more and more real. Blue orbs blinked open and a tongue curling yawn split the pups maw. Blinking some more, the pups stretched his legs, though still laying flat on his tummy. He froze, suddenly as he saw the tall ears of a rabbit through the grass. Instincts he was not even aware he had told him to be silent and still as possible. Slowly, carefully he pulled his legs under him. Waiting until what he felt was the best moment, or more accurately until his short puppy patient wore then, Cypress lunged after the rabbits. Though his clumsy puppy legs would never bring him close to his flighty prey.

Bunnies. The large pup couldn’t think of a better situation. It was certainly amazing to have found one, its long ears twitching slightly as each breath Alder took, slowly coming to realize that there might be someone watching him. But the puppy didn’t see the signs, didn’t notice that he might be getting too close. All he trued to do was stay very still, not make a sound. His stalking abilities were immature and the inexperienced little wolf could only do his best.

Alder knew that bunnies were quiet beasts, not saying much at all and so he debated on whether or not he should introduce himself as his mother advised. It was certainly the best way to get to know another creature, to give your name, but he was so fearful that he would scare them away that the masked pup just remained quiet and still for the moment.

Blue eyes watched them for what felt like an eternity, though likely only a few long minutes. The debate rang in his ears, and the tree-pup figured that if they were ever going to be friends that Alder needed to begin the conversation. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes and thought the words over again in his mind and then as he let out the breath slowly he opened his mouth to speak, I’ms It was all that he could get out before the rabbit sprinted away, well not actually away but straight towards him.

He looked with wide surprised eyes, and took a step backwards in fright of the rabbit’s sudden boldness. But then something else was coming through the grass, and Alder lowered his head in the hopes of hiding in the grass and out of the sight of the beast that was barreling towards him.

The rabbit, of coarse, was quick to react to the charging pup. It's own powerful legs propelling well ahead if its inexperienced pursuer. The mottled black and brown pup had no idea what true stealth was and so his attack had hardly been sneaky at all. Besides, it was all about the chase! But it was enough for it was all he had really wanted to do in the first place. It was just a game still at this point in his life, not yet having a serious thought towards hunting or the source of his food.

The pup even laughed and giggled as he ran after the fleeing rabbit. Which getting away with great ease. The crouching Alder had succeeded in hiding from his brother in the tall grass, at least right up until the moment that Cypress was about to barrel right into his much larger brother. Uh oh. His eyes grew wide and he tried to stop but it was far too late. He went cartwheeling over his brother, rolling a few times before coming to rest sprawled out on his back. He laid there a moment a bit stunned. He wasn't hurt, just a bit, well surprised.

The pup was not meant to know the names of small mammals such as rabbits. The two species were so opposite that it was fairly impossible for them to be friends. Alder had yet to understand that these would be one of his main sources of food, and that they were fearing for their lives when they ran away not just ignoring him. Blue eyes looked out unhappily as he watched the rabbit come towards him, knowing that this was unlikely something he wanted to have happen. Then he saw the cause, the brown and black body running towards him quickly.

Alder crouched, falling to the ground as the body of his smaller brother came leaping over him. A stray paw hit him in the head, causing an but old Ouch to be ripped from his throat. Alder fell to his side, and scratched his way back to his paws. The rabbit was gone, and he looked over to the other blue eyed boy. He was on his back, but he could see his chest heaving up and down and knew he wasn’t dead. Alder sat in place, upset that the rabbit hadn’t wanted to come closer to him, but just running from Cypress.

Cypress laid sprawled out panting for a long moment. Finally showing other signs of life as he began giggling as he rolled over to his belly, pulling his wayward legs back underneath him. "Whys you hiding like dat? You otay?" He asked quizzically of his bigger brother. He certainly had intended to barrel over his brother in such a manner, though the event was one that he could laugh and giggle about. He wasn't upset with Alder, it was as much his fault as his brothers that they had collided.

He looked around for the rabbit, which by now was long gone and there was no sign of the long eared creature anywhere. That was okay though, if he could no longer chase the rabbit, maybe Alder would want to play with him? Cypress climbed to his feet, closing the distance between himself and his brother with a few playful bounds. "Wanna wessle?" He crouched, his butt sticking up the air with is tail waving to and fro. It would surprise him if Alder didn't want to wrestle and instead suggested some other game.

Big Grin

Blue eyes looked back to meet those of his bother, his head turned around to see him as he spoke. His chest was less tight, his breathing less labored and when Cypress stood he was able to as well. As he faced his brother he gave a slight shrug, Es okaye. though he felt it was a bit of a big deal to have been pushed over like that the casual tone of his sibling made it easy for him to pretend other wise. The big rolly boy stood as Cypress gave a play bow, knowing without having to hear the words that the other male wanted not to fight but to play and perhaps relieve some of the tension that had come between them.

Alder felt his tail wave behind him, but it was not the only feeling that he had. Alder smiled slightly, his head falling downwards and he shook it slightly as he spoke, I doono. He confessed, not knowing if he actually did want to wrestle or not. Cypress was good at play-fighting, and Alder was fairly poor at the game. He was good at pretend, though it was hard to measure ones skill at that. He could also find his way back home well, though of course he never ventured too far and just followed his scent trail back.

The black pawed boy sat once more, then felt the pressure of the other's eyes and then fell into the suggestion. Alh wight. He said then, but didn't move from his spot. He wasn't very good at this, the tree pup thought as he shuffled a single paw

hmmm

It was good to know that his brother was okay. While he was prone to rough play he wouldn't want to hurt either of his brothers. Though they were both bigger than him, so it typically wasn't a concern in his mind. "Das Good!" Quickly adding, "I is sowwie for running into you." as he realized momma would probably have made him say it, had she been here.

Cypress didn't understand the timid and shy nature of his largest brother. No, not Cypress that didn't at all mind rough and rowdy play. Always looking for the opportunity to surprise one of his larger, unsuspecting brothers with a pounce. Though in a game of wrestling, Cypress figured that Alder should really have no trouble, he was bigger than him and could pin him easy if he would only try. However his masked brother did seem like he really wanted to play as he agreed. Sitting there and shuffling his one foot. Cypress's brows came together as he stood up out of his crouch after a few moments. "Well..," he asked of his brother, "you gonna pounce me or what?" It wasn't often that Cypress got Alder to agree to a game of wrestling rather than just instigating without his consent. Crouching down again, Cypress hopped around in front of his brother in an attempt to prompt him to pounce first.

His brother's apology was thoughtful and kind, just as they all had been taught. Where Alder was quick to say he was sorry Cypress took his time and thought it out thoroughly, and the larger boy tried to remember that technique. It sounded better then falling all over himself trying to spout out an apology. And the pup managed to smile a small little grin. He didn't see himself as the bigger one, though he certainly was, for his nature made him seem smaller in form and there wasn't a lot of loud personality to fill it.

But he sat before Cypress, sooty paw running against the grass idly as he tried to figure out what it was that he should do next. His tawny brother didn't let him think about it long, standing tall and causing Alder's blue eyes to look up. Ears stood with surprise, not having thought that it was his turn to start. Slowly the round pup got to his paws, placing them shoulder and hip width apart and then lowering his front half slightly just as Cypress had done before. His tail was low behind him, showing his unease in the game but Alder forced himself to get into the mindset that he normally ignored and gave a little growl that would have been suited for a young kitten rather then a wolf pup.

Big paws rose as his back legs pushed him forward, but he was slow and clumsy. Alder swatted at the other pup, trying to pounce as best as he knew how.

<3 sorries its kinda a blah post

Cypress was not completely unaware to the fact that his brother was often rather timid when it came to physical play. Often choosing to watch from the sidelines than getting involved in the horse play that Cypress was always so eager for. He was still too young to understand that it was simply a difference in their individual natures. He felt sure Alder would have fun at the game if he would just get into it a little bit.

Cypress smiled at his brother as took a more playful stance, his thin tail fanning the air behind him. Alder was not nearly as energetic about the whole situation and his posture almost completely opposite to that of his smaller brother. His tail low and every motion seeming over thought and methodical as Cypress bounded from side to side in front of him, trying to taunt the larger pup into a pounce. At last it came as the masked boy lurched forward and swathed at Cypress. It was slow and he could have easily dodged it, but Cypress wanted Alder to enjoy this game. Knowing it would be no fun at all for his brother if he couldn't even land his pounce Cypress let his brother tackle him. Though, not without some resistance.

oh pleasee.... ;D

He wouldn’t just sit still, and Alder was growing a bit frustrated. Cypress was fast where Alder was slow, and eager where he was hesitant. But as his paws came up to land on the molted brown and black pup it seemed like he wasn’t going to miss after all. The boy’s large body fall forward, and his blue eyes were bright and wide as he fell onto the other pup. He could hardly figure out what to do with his head and it rolled forward too with the momentum. Big paws stumbled over the limbs of his brother and he shut his eyes tightly with fear.

let me know if I need to change something, wasn't totally sure what was going on xD

His butt wiggled in the air. Driven by the fanning tail attached to it. His beaming face smiled up at his hesitant, masked brother. Oblivious, for the most part, to the uncertianty and frustration that was felt by the other. Though he did recognize the excitement, at least that what he took it for, in his brother's bright blue eyes as he reared back to pounce out at him last. A "oof," was forced from the mottled boy's lungs as the weight of his brother came down, pinning him to the ground. The weight of the other more uncomfortable than he had expected, typically being on the other end of the pouncing as the smaller and faster of his brothers. He couldn't see the fear on his brother's face, but he felt his body tense as he started to fall on over. "Duck, and go with it. Its fun!" He offered quick words of support, though he intended to tell his brother to tuck, tongue getting tangled.

Oh yes, Alder was regretting this decision. He didn’t want to play like this, he didn’t want to get hurt and he really didn’t know what to do to keep from hurting his brother and from hurting himself. But he rolled on top of Cypress and even felt the air escape his brother’s lungs as he did so. Alder ducked his head, though only after Cyp had told him to and rolled back onto the grass that he had been stumbled on. Alder laid there, his chest heaving as he tensed and tried to untangle his legs while they sat trapped under his large body. The pup was not coordinated, and thought that concentrated would help his troubles rather then allowing his legs to do what they would naturally. Instead he closed his eyes and thought hard, and such a thing hurt.

Aooowwwwwh He said with a high pitched tone. He was very much regretting this.

Trapped under his brother, Cypress couldn't tell if Alder had taken his advice or not. Either way the large pup rolled on over him. The weight of his largest brother had been uncomfortable, more so than he had thought, but he was no worse for the experience. Bounding to his feet as soon as he was no longer held down, he pounced on top of the masked boy. Completely oblivious to Alder's own struggles to free trapped legs or his discomforts.

Sharp teeth reached for the tawny ear of his brother. A sharp "ow" froze the young boy in mid motion. Jaws coming shut on empty air as he tilted his head curiously, looking at the masked boy under his paws. "Ow? How can you be hurt? Just a widdle woll..." Cypress couldn't see how Alder could be hurt. He had rolled over on him after all, and he was fine. Reluctantly he clambered down from on top of his larger sibling. He gave him an odd look of annoyance, though there was some genuine concern for his brother's well being. Though Cyp was being to think he was just being a pansy.

Hurt hurt hurt, it was all that Alder could think of. The discomfort was not unbearable, but he did think he might need for Cambria to work some of her healing magic on him. Cypress didn’t let up, his paws found Alder’s round body but before the assault on his big ear he stopped to speak into it. The words hurt more then the f.all did, and when Cypress climbed from on top of him Alder rolled back to his paws and couldn't look the other pup in the eye.

His face grew warm, ears flat on his head and he felt a defensiveness grow within his thoughts. I twisssted it weirhd. He said with a frown, holding a paw up for the affect. He didn’t even hurt that bad anymore, but it was still a little sore.

Just tell me if you want me to change anything <333

Its was beyond the ability of his young mind to accept the fact that Alder just didn't find this sort of play fun. It was hard to understand much outside of his personal experience. In time he would learn to have a broader perspective in life. As it were now though, Cypress thought his brother to simply lying to him. He would not look him in the eye and so he must be fibbing about his supposedly injured paw. "Ifs you is just pwetendin, you could just have said you did wanna pway dat game." Had he realized how he had hurt his brother's feelings he would feel quite badly about it, but he was clueless to the sting of his words.

Whether or not Alder was just pretending to be hurt Cypress didn't want to play anymore. He had hoped he could make the game fun for his brother. Frustrated he had started to walk away without saying another word to the other, though he did turn back to see if Alder would need help or not. He might be annoyed with his larger sibling, but he would not leaving him limping behind for it.

But he wasn't just pretending. It hurt, though the pain was not something that he couldn't live with. It was still pain though and his mother had told him about the reasons for pain. It was to show limits, and this was one of his. Alder was not one to think that rolling around with another wolf was fun, and that a little boo-boo was worth scrapping with his brother. He would live, and his paw would stop pounding in a moments time, but he didn't know this. Instead his small mind was able to believe that this was how it would feel all the time, and that he needed to see momma about this matter immediately. His brother's words hurt, even more then that of his paw and when he turned his back and walked away Alder didn't know what to do or say. The heat of his embarrassment skedaddled up to his ears and he wanted to hide rather then seek out their mother and hope for her to fix him.

Alder blinked, tears coming to the blue eyes far too easily for his own good.
