Sepriah was not exactly new to the lands around her but it had been a while since she had even done anything. It was like the weight of boredom had been lifted off her back and now she was back in action. The dark princess strolled along and stared to the burning sky. The sun was high and the heat was increasing. Man the heat was bad and Sepirah would need a place to cool off. No wonder this pack was called Inferni, it was too hot all the time. The only place she knew of was Grimwell Caverns. Caves were great for cooling off and a way to escape the sun; although she couldn’t really complain after being raised in the desert.

After trotting her way to the caverns and stepping inside, Sepirah stretched out her limbs and lowered herself to the ground. The dark princess was not used to being so alone, hell most of her family was in Inferni and she didn’t like people not paying attention to her. She should have been the center of attention but no. No one was around to see her and all her glory. She laid her head down and sighed heavily. Why was no one around when she was? She just couldn’t figure it out. As her mind drifted she thought of her grandmother. Hard to believe her own grandmother was her leader. What is this dark princess was the leader of Inferni. What a nice life that would be. Sepirah would be the center of attention and everyone would have to look up to her; however there was no way she was going to be leader anytime soon. She was still young and her loyalty got in the way of her doing anything. She would have to let time pass and see how things played out.

The silver-shaded woman meandered out of her cave, breathing in the air. There was renewed vigor to the old woman; it would seem her wounds had finally healed. Even so, there was still just that slight drag in her leg, and this would never leave her. Her body could not heal this injury all the way, and thus she would bear this limp until the end of her days. It was not so noticable, though, and the silvery woman had already adjusted to it, bearing more weight on her other three legs to decrease its appearance even more. When she walked in her Optime form, it was not even apparent, for it was her foreleg that was affected, and her foreleg became her arm.

Still, such a thing was a weakness, and her opponents would seek to exploit this weakness if they could—the silver-shaded woman knew this quite well. Gazing out over the ocean that fronted her own cave, the hybrid contemplated nothing. Indeed, she kept her mind as perfectly blank and careful as possible, for she could not bear the thought of the immediate future. Gabriel was a strong man and a smart man, but he was also a caring man, and the silver-shaded woman knew what she meant to him. Even if he did not show it all the time, there was love between them—twisted and strained from the years they had been apart, but love nonetheless. She could be put down, she could lose her rank to be shunted back to some position of respect but no authority—the hybrid desired nothing of the sort.

She would serve her clan until she could do so no longer, and in her heart and mind, Kaena had convinced herself she was still fit for this position. Was such a thing true? Perhaps, but of course, the scarred Centurion's perspective was slanted in her own favor. Her mind was mostly sound, though her memory was beginning to go, and she was mostly physically capable, though she would avoid fighting unless she had to. Perhaps it would be better for the clan for her to step down, even—but who would take her place? Though she loved Halo dearly, the young girl was not ready for such a position, and especially not at such a fragile time in her life. Snake was not a leader—the tawny wolf was a soldier, one meant to be commanded. Hybrid was much the same, but with much less calculated cunning, and much more violent rage.

The hybrid woman lifted her muzzle, catching a familiar scent she had not seen as of late—Sepirah. Though she knew by scent the sable-shaded woman was still within Inferni's borders, the hybrid had not seen much of her lately, and assumed she was simply settling into the clan. Now, with a wince, the coyote realized she should have pursued after the youth, seeking her to find out how she was getting along. Injury had hampered her mobility, however, and she had not moved unless duty compelled her to or she was treating her wounds; the coyote meandered after the scent, entering the caves with hopes that Sepirah would understand this. A smile crossed the old hybrid's face at the sight of the sable woman, curled up on the floor of one of the unoccupied caverns. “What has you so down?” the woman asked, her voice gentle in its teasing.

Table thanks to Ithen!

The cave was just as cool as Sepirah figured it would be. Being raised in the desert was kind of rough. It was always too hot and there was not enough food or water. Life was miserable. Thankfully she found her way here to the Inferni pack a while ago. It was the place where she met her grandmother Kaena Lykoi. As the day passed one, the heat only seemed to get worse. Thankfully the caves were just what she needed. Moments passed as she began to think of what she would be doing for her home. She wanted to discuss it with her brothers, but they were no where to be found. A soft sigh passed her lips as she turned to the entrance of the cave.

Just then a familiar scent passed her nose. Sepirah remembered that scent anywhere. It was the scent of a lykoi. What a family name. She had so much of an extended family in Inferni that she figured this was no pack. This was just one huge family. As the tired jackel raised herself up, she saw a a figure at the entrance to her cave. As she lingered forward, she realized that this was none other than her grandmother Kaena. What a wonderful person to have around while everyone else was off doing their own thing. With a kindly gesture she welcomed the old coyote into her cave. Once she had entered, the dark princess circled around before she returned her posture on the ground, looking to her dear grandmother as she asked what had her so down. Another sigh passed her as she spoke. "Oh grandmother Kaena... no one's really around and I haven't seen my brothers. I'd like to find a home we can all share but it's like they're avoiding me. I don't know maybe I'm just not looking in the right places..."

As she mentioned looking for a home, she imaged her and her bothers sharing a den, each of them having their own quarters. There was no use imagining over it if neither of her brothers were turning up to look for a home. It was sad really. Here was Sepirah, wanting to set aside time to go looking with her siblings and they were not even around. The jackel wagged her tail a bit as she turned her devilish gaze to her grandmother. "By any chance have you seen either of my brothers grandmother?"

The silver-shaded coyote had taken for granted that Sepirah was settling in just fine; the hybrid had assumed her Lykoi blood would make for an easy new home. Frowning, she shuffled into the cave. Her claws clicked against the rock floor, echoing in the emptiness of the chamber. “I'm sorry, Sepi,” the old woman said, her ears half-mast as a genuine sign of this. “I was hurting for a few weeks, and it was hard to get around,” she explained. “I would have checked on you otherwise.” The explaination was brief, not touching on the cause for her injuries. Sepirah could learn about Haku, but the scarred woman did not yet feel able to rehash everything over again. When she did not ache at the thought of him, maybe she could say everything that had happened.

Sepirah was the only female in a litter of boys, a princess among her brothers. The boys were not a mystery to the hybrid woman. Enkiel still lived within Inferni. His scent was faint, but it had not faded beyond recognition, and so he was still here. Mkhai had departed some time ago, and Kaena only knew their brother Machidael by name. “Enkiel has been quiet lately. I don't know where Mkhai is. He didn't come back.” Though this was said in a somber tone, the hybrid woman was confident she would see him again. He was as Lykoi as she, and this was his home, too. “I will try to find out where Enkiel sleeps. In the meantime, we can look for a good home for you,” the coyote offered. “You know I sleep in one of these caves—did you think about that?”

It seemed like Kaena was always there for her. Speirah, while wanting the attention, was also greatful to those who helped her. Kaena was a wonderful coyote and a beautiful one too aside from all the scars. The dark princess was proud to share the same colored muzzle as her grandmother. Her golden eyes gazed to her grandmother in admiration, if she were ever to become a leader, she'd be one just like Kaena. Ah the position of leader was a great thought indeed. Sepirah could imagine herself being showered with attention and honor for defending her pack. Even though the thought was great, she was still far too young, but when she got older, nothing was gonna stop her from going to the top.

Sepirah was broken from her fantasy as she heard Kaena speaking. She was appologizing her to her for not checking on her? Well that wasn't really nessaccary. Speirah didn't need to be watched anymore. A small sigh passed her lips before she spoke. "It is alright grandmother. You don't need to burden yourself with checking on me. I'm fine." The dark prnicess got up and moved to the coyote's side. With the darkened gaze of her golden eyes, she let out a yawn. Dispite being a bit tired, she was trying to figure out Kaena. Something was on her mind, but she wasn't saying so. Not wanting to bother her, Sepirah shrugged off the idea and lowered herself onto her rear. From where she was, the rock was much cooler at the first touch, but it was alright. The cooler the place, the better.

The thought of her brothers came to her mind as the princess took to her grandmother's side. Just where would they be anyways. The wasy she figured it, they would all be together here in Inferni and live in the same place until they got much older or just plain sick of each other. Her gaze wandered to the roof of the cave when Kaena spoke of them. So Enkiel was still here but Mkhai was no where to be found. She sighed and made a silent vow that she would find him and figure out what was going on. The coyote's offer was more then Sepirah could ask for. "Thank you Kaena. If you could find him that would be nice. These caves are nice and cool, not to mention they provide as a great shelter spot. I'm sure if I could find one big enough we could live around here with you. It would be nice staying near you grandmother."

The coyote's russet muzzle split into a grin, twisted fearsome despite its merry nature thanks to the scar tissue cris-crossing her face. “Well, it's my job to check on you, too,” the coyote reminded Sepirah. She knew quite well that the sable-shaded woman was an adult now; even if she was small by coyote standards, she was still in possession of an adult rank, well over the age marking for that particular milestone at this point. Even so, it was her own rank's duty to insure that newcomers to the clan—even those in possession of the “royal blood,” were comfortable in their clan.

“Of course,” the coyote responded, her golden-yellow eye watching the younger canine as she moved closer. There was no wariness in Kaena; she trusted this granddaughter. She was a child of Samael, and in the one-eyed woman's recollection, her father cared little for her. In his mind, these children were simply gifts for his own mother. The scarred hybrid certainly did not have a problem with this. “If you would like, we can go look for one?” the coyote suggested. She would have liked Sepirah to be near, too—it was not too difficult to visit Halo in the mansion, but it would have been far more convenient for brief visits if the cinnamon-shaded Hydra lived in the caves with the rest of the family.

Woot, new table! WC: 376 {3 points}

Sepirah had to admit that she felt sorry for her grandmother. What had she done to deserve all those scars on her face. There were so many that it was taking away from the coyote's beauty. It was a shame that her lovely orange muzzle was tainted by the evil of the marks left behind. She swore if she ever found out who did this to her, she would pay them back tenfold.

As Kaena said it was her job to check on the dark princess, all she could do was sigh. She had an adult rank now and planed to excell in the pack to prove she wasn't a child anymore. She lowered her head and returned the smirk. "If you insist Kaena." She could tell her grandmother was just carrying out her duty, but she wished she was treated as the adult she acted like. Sepirah was unsure as to what her duties were and wished to carry them out soon to prove to the pack that even if she was a bit younger, she could be just as great as any of the other coyotes. All she need was one chance to prove herself and surely she could act as proudly as her grandmother did.

Sepirah's smirk only widened as her grandmother offered her to help look for a cave to live in. This was the perfect time to bond with her and figure out what she had to do to to be more like her and more like a leader. First thing's first, she would have to find a good place to stay. Maybe there was a big den near her grandmother that she could stay in. Perhaps if she got lucky then she would also run into her brother and show him the new home she picked out. The dark princess rose to her feet and began to head outside of the cave. "Well then, why don't we take a look around here? I'm sure we can find a suitable cave for me and my brother. Maybe if we're lucky we can find one nearby your home. It would be nice to be near family seeing as father's not around and neither is my brother. Will that be fine with you?"

It had been long enough that the silver-shaded woman did not notice her own scars; she had lived with most of them so many years, they were hardly registered by the old woman. She had, after all, worn some of them as long as she could remember. Her mother had given her the ones above her eyes to remind Kaena always just where she had come from; the plan worked exceedingly well, as Kaena carried the memory of Delphine with her always. No matter that the woman's face had faded from the Centurion's memory; the actions still resonated within the coyote's persona and psyche.

“Would you rather I ignored you?” the woman asked, a thin edge of gruffness entering her voice. There was no aggression in it, certainly, but she loved her granddaughter and appreciated her. The scarred hybrid intended visitation with Sepirah and her other grandchildren whether they liked it or not—she would not be scorned. Samael's children might as well have been her own; her brutal and endlessly devoted son had bequeathed them on her, as he would have done with any of his children. It had never occurred to Kaena that she acted in a patronizing manner toward her grandchildren, and indeed, thought of and treated them like children. None of them had ever voiced such a concern before, and so she was blissfully unaware.

“I'd like that,” the coyote responded, eager to bond with the youth. She saw herself reflected in numerous ways in the young woman, and she was eager to live nearby; surrounding herself with family was a favorite hobby of the scarred woman. “Your half-uncle Gabriel lives in the caves, too. He's not so far from me, either,” the hybrid added, hoping to share more of Sepirah's family with her.
