No reason is needed for loving -

Paulo Coelho

Eeeezzzrrraa!

The silver girl chimed in a fluent voice. Her head was held up in the wind as she weaved in and out the trees. It had still been early when she had risen from her bed in Lunenberg. She had been alone, like most mornings, but the absence of a presence made the small house feel empty. So she had wandered out the door and into the chilled morning. It hadn’t taken long for her fur to bristle with the cold and collect drops of moisture on her whiskers. But the farther Ever got into the forest, the lonelier she felt.

Wet fall leaves slipped underneath her paws as she streaked through woods. The girl wasn’t sure where the male had made his den, but the faint scent she had caught guided her to one of the territory’s many meadows. Her heart fluttered nervously in her white furred chest as Ever thought of seeing Ezra again. When they were together it was as if the ground was a million miles away, and that feeling never went away. It had been a month since she last saw her best friend but she could still feel the warmth of his body against hers even though the cold froze her paws.

”Ezra!”

Ever called again, her maw wide with a smile as she slid through the tall grass speckled with glittering dew and white wild flowers. The silver female trotted up to a thick collection and gnawed at the stems until they gave way. Moving more swiftly through the plain, excitement lifted her head into the clouds. Eyes sparkling with a certain intensity, the girl didn’t even try to hide her feelings for him.

seriously beat me with a stick I’m so sorry!! >_<; hope you don’t mind the powerplay, just thought it’d make things faster.

The month had been hard. Ezra spent many mornings exploring, often wondering why he was alone. She had tantalized his mind, his dreams… she took root into his head. It was another of those mornings where he had woken up with the dawn and spent a lazy morning in bed. Ezra’s laziness never allowed him to dig out his own den, but instead formed a rather impressive mat next to a willow tree by a small stream. It seemed fickle about whether to stay or not, and Ezra would often find himself wondering when it would rain again so his watery friend would return to him.

This morning, however, the faintest stream appeared by his feet. It was a welcome change, which put Ezra in a good mood. The boy, still shaking the sleep out of his eyes, stretched with pleasure on the dewy ground. It seemed impossible that he would get out and be productive. The sound he had not expected to hear changed all of that, however. His name rang out through the trees of his little home, from the voice he longed to hear. Ever was back. He didn’t know how she found his humble abode, but that didn’t matter right now. She was back

“Ever?” Ezra whispered hoarsely, looking in the direction the voice came from. Through the reeds his girl came to him. Ezra instantly grinned; this couldn’t have been more perfect. “Hey!” the boy called out, getting up a little too quickly for his half-asleep body. His bones cracked and complained but Ezra ignored his lazy body. His paws ran over the grass and rocks until his body collided with hers in a multitude of licks and kisses.

It’s fine, deary!

By now she was lost in her own world way past the clouds filled with dreams and wishes and into the infinity they had created without words. His tongue rasped across her ear while she let out a small whimper of delight and pressed her chest close to his side. She entwined her tail with his and rubbed her head affectionately against his chin. The perception she felt when he was gone seem to melt into the fresh feeling of passion. But Ever couldn’t say that it felt like they had never been separated.

I have missed you,

The girl breathed into his dark ear. Through the tangle of love heated embrace, she had not realized that the wild flowers she had kept in her grasp were now a mess in both the wolves fur. Ever licked away a white petal from Ezra’s cheek. Still tucked between her lip and her half open mouth remained one single perennial. Sleek head bent down and dropped the bud at the male’s feet.

She felt the need to say something but words didn’t come easy with the majority of her body was muddled with his. With a fiery snarl, the silver girl untangled herself and gave the male a desperate look. All she wished to do was dig deeply into his fur and stay there forever.

This was perfection. Her body melted into his in a whirlwind of fur and love and it wasn’t until Ezra realized what he had, he realized he had been empty without her. This month had been full of thoughts about her, and their last encounter. He had often wondered if his rash anger before was going to make her stay away, but the fact that she was here with all the love in the world for him made his heart ring.

Ever’s words summed up everything Ezra felt without having the need to vocalize it. This was a moment the boy never wanted to let go and when she finally did move away, his body almost started following hers because he didn’t want to let the connection end. Their eyes met and she gave him a look, one that he couldn’t explain. A rush of confusion tortured the boy’s head. What the hell was she doing? She looked like she was trying to say something, but the boy was oblivious. Ezra was never good with girls, or any of their emotions. He had also never been with anyone as special as Ever before, and didn’t have any idea what he was doing.

“What?” the boy said stupidly, looking down at the flower Ever had put down by his side. Ezra gave a low whine full of concern and wrapped himself in his girl again. “What can I do?”

I’m not positive on how this is going to plan out, whether Ever or Ezra is going to mention meeting Vigilante. Sorry it’s short.

EDIT: Made a lead-in

Words formed in broken English inside the foggy drunken mind of the girl while he tangled himself into her again. Her head lolled to the side for a moment, ready to be released into his grasp and let herself go under. But something stopped the girl. A small piece of information snagged in the back of her mind. One slip could lead her male into the world past the wall he created. She would never be able to forgive herself if she changed him, and through the disparity she didn’t even have room to imagine him in an Optime form.

Gradually, the female realized she had gone limp in his arms. Straightening back up, without making too much of a scene ‘snapping back to reality’, Ever nudged her male’s cheek.

I have been thinking…

But the girl was already lost in Ezra’s eyes, falling back against his chest. She suddenly hoped he would complete her inquiry. It seemed impossible now that he was not officially hers.

The thought hurt, so the girl forced herself to continue.

"I have been thinking about us, Ezra. I...I want you. To be with me."

The words were broken up and hesitant, but strong and sure. But she didn't know what he'd think.

sorry I fail at life. I feel bad for taking forever.... Sad Sad Sad

Ever was acting very differently. She went from limp to joyous to downright depressed again, as if she was waging war in her mind. Her body language was undeniable: she was upset about something. The mutt sighed to himself, muttering his girl’s name, and feeling incredibly useless. He figured it was something about them, which is why she had such trouble putting words together. Could he imagine being with her? Having another being share a part of his life? The thought had never really crossed his mind, but Ever was intoxicating. She was all he would ever need in life.

What would that life lead? A sense of security, for sure, but that meant a lot of lifestyle changes on his part. She would always be around, and Ezra’s sense of freedom would diminish. No more wanderings, a mate to care for, a life to lead. Pups? Ezra was shaken. Did Ever want to have a family? Could the Rosen family flourish here? Would Ezra forget his family, and start a new one? His mother flashed through his mind. She would want that. One day Ezra would want to take Ever back to his homeland and see the world through his eyes.

“Honey,” Ezra said stupidly, unsure how to start this. Yes, Ever was the one for him, but the clear divide between them still was incredibly apparent. Her alternative lifestyle was a hurdle they would finally have to get over now. “I… do too. More than anything. I want you to be the one for me forever…” The boy stopped momentarily, unsure of whether to say the idea he had in his mind. Orange and blue dove into clear pool of gray, and Ezra's heart momentarily stopped. “Will you be mine, my lovely Ever Rosen?” He said with a genuine, warm smile.

So Meghann can just pop Vigilante in whenever she wants and Ever be all loopy Big Grin

The girl had never heard a proposal before. She never really thought about it, only when she had first seen Vigilante and Ayita together. Scenes of their love she had experienced had not made her jealous or angry, just small. They also brought a few stray thoughts about the future which the female had stored for special moments like these.

At first his words were a blur; mouth moving across tongue and teeth in a fluid motion that seemed to melt into themselves. The girl could have guessed what her expression was – bright, soft, and puzzled. Head tilted ever so slightly, body angled towards the male she had come to breathe in every last of his scent to remember. But the sound finally reached her amber ears, which flung back against her head so rapidly she could feel the cold of the air between them.

When she was floating in his disheveled eyes life seemed fine, grand, purposeful for the first time since she had arrived in this area. But soon the weight of what the male had said, more hurriedly becoming clear in the female’s head, dropped her ungracefully back into the ghost of her unmoving body. Ever’s paws went numb and her breath came in slow gulps of air.

This was what she wanted. Right? It killed her inside out for her to question, but just looking at the quad form of her friend seemed to destroy her mind. Mates. The single word remained only slightly torn. He was hers now. Not officially, since she hadn’t replied, but the word brought such furious warmth that the girl heard herself force out a purr like sound. Ever could never forget. His actions had left a dark memory in her thoughts. They couldn’t do so many things.

Suddenly, the future frightened the girl. So frightening that Ever burst out of her strange hot and cold faze. She took a step back, to look at the male’s entire face. Her paws itched to move forward again, but that would be silly, like putting the sun in the sky but then deciding it was time for the moon. She knew about many things Ezra didn’t. Like how even a second of love could exchange her gene into him. Stunning, yes, but horrifying most likely in his mind. By the time Ever finally realized she had not replied, she was already too stiff to speak.

The King spent much of his time in the larger, bulky and muscular secui form when he patrolled the borders, hoping to simply add the factor of size to his generally respectable air. Jade eyes scanned the horizon as he moved, keeping his gait easy as he moved around the borders. His family seemed to be drifting apart, though it was to be expected with both of his adopted daughters. Amaranth and Ever were both growing up and it was entirely understandable; they were like all young canines. They were growing up and moving on from their childhood. The part that he did not expect or understand had been the considerable distancing that Ayita had been doing. The King did not know why she had been putting space between them, both physically and emotionally, but he did recognize that she was. It was unfortunate, but he did not know how he might approach her about it.

The dog mutt lifted his head, focusing on a scent caught on the wind, recognizing Ever quickly. There did not seem to be anything going wrong, but saying hello to her would be nice, and to whomever she was with. Vigilante set off in the direction the wind had carried the scent from, and though it did not take him long to reach them, he was faintly surprised by what he saw. Ever and Ezra were together, and there seemed to be something strange going on between them. He almost would have said that Ever looked upset, but perhaps she was only deep in thought. “I hope I am not interrupting something,” he said, for he could not leave now, knowing that they probably had seen him at this point. “I wanted to come say hello, once I recognized your scent, Ever,” he explained.

Before this very moment, Ezra didn’t know that one’s heart could dissolve into a globular mess that burned through his windpipe, cutting off his oxygen supply. The longer the silence lingered, the worse off the boy felt. His eyes screamed, pleaded at Ever to say anything that wouldn’t leave the mutt hanging. She moved around, just as confused as Ezra was, writhing with indecision. Ezra finally looked away from Ever and stared at the ground, distraught enough to bore holes into the ground with his vision. He had never been so helpless before. His impromptu proposal ruined the good feeling between them, ruined whatever possibility they had for a future. At least, it seemed that way.

Ezra’s moment of hollowness was cut short by the familiar voice of the King, Vigilante. Ezra’s face changed from sorrowful to extremely alert with a quick head movement in the King’s direction. Listening to Vigilante talk, he realized that this could not have come at a better, or perhaps worse, time. As far as he understood it, Vigilante was Ever’s adopted father and therefore the one to talk to about this sort of thing. He also ruled the land, and Ezra was still low on the totem pole here. He never really added to the pack, he was more of a loner who did his own thing. Vigilante knew nothing of him, and had only interacted with him once when he joined the Court. What would he think? Was he nothing more than a social climber, trying to get in with the King? Ever held a significantly more important role within the court – Ezra knew nothing of Court practices, or any other members for that matter. Would Vigilante think Ever was settling and could do better? Did Vigilante care at all?

The awkwardness still lingered between the young lovers. Slightly embarrassed, Ezra threw on a fake smile and walked over to Vigilante, respectfully bowing his head and gluing his ears to the back of his head. “Good morning, Vigilante,” the mutt said quietly, with all the respect he could muster. Ezra really had no idea how to approach this situation. Shit. “We, uh,” he stopped again, giving a quick look back to Ever. “I just… I’ve fallen for Ever, you see,” He gave the King a small, weak smile. “And as it so happens, I want to be with her. I care about her immensely and I… I can’t stop thinking about her. I want her to take my name and be mine.” Ezra looked at the mossy ground, finally relaxing that everything that was swirling around in his mind was out.

It was hard to comprehend all that was happening. First, Ever’s heart was nearly ripped straight from her white chest and laid pathetically at Ezra’s feet. In a corny way, he had stolen her heart and stabbed it as soon as he looked away. Her fault it was, for not answering, but she couldn’t even breathe a sigh filled with tension before a voice nearly made her jump.

Out of instinct, the girl moved closer to her lover, letting her silver fur mingle with his midnight fluff. She nearly let out a cautious snarl before she realized it was Vigilante. Her eyes shone for a brief moment as she stepped forward and brushed her nose against her adopted Father’s shoulder in a respectful greeting. Days seemed to have blurred together since she had seen him last. But back the girl came to the male’s side.

Ever listened the small exchange the men had, silently observing the bulging form her father was in that she had yet to take.

It is nice to see you, Vigilante.

The hybrid commented calmly, as if he had stumbled upon something as simple as a hunting party.

“I just… I’ve fallen for Ever, you see,”

The girl looked up at Ezra, her bright eyes expressionless. She couldn’t bring herself to look at her father. It became clear how much she had kept form him without knowing. Of course, it was clear that the wolves had some kind of chemistry, good or bad. Suddenly, her feelings were stronger than even she could control.

He does not lie, Father.

Ever said, tasting the unfamiliar name on her tongue. She pressed her auburn ears against Ezra’s neck and breathed in his scent.

The King felt as if he were intruding on a moment they had been sharing together, though he did not know what sort of moment that could be, as they both seemed uncertain, the feeling almost tangible. It was a moment before anyone spoke and it was Ezra that chose to, after Ever greeted him and then returned to the dark male’s side. Vigilante raised his eyebrows curiously, but remained quiet as the male spoke to him, explaining their current situation. Jade eyes sought reassurance from Ever that what he was saying was what she felt, as well, and he found it in her speech proclaiming that Ezra did not lie. That was a good thing to hear, as the King did feel protective over his adopted daughter, despite her age in adulthood.

Ezra spoke of his feelings for Ever and she confirmed them, but what the King did not hear were any words of her returning the emotions for the Chevalier Rosen. Probably she would not be acting the way she was if she did not return the feelings, but he would not risk her feeling like she had to be with someone if they proclaimed love for her. “Those are strong feelings to have,” he said to Ezra when he had finished speaking, and so had Ever. “Do you feel the same way that he does, Ever?” he asked softly, looking to the girl he had taken in some months ago with compassion. He was not lamenting the fact that she had not told him of this budding relationship, only looking for reassurances that she wanted it, as well. If she did, then he would give them his blessings, certainly. All that the King needed was to know that his adopted daughter wanted what Ezra admitted to wanting and they would be allowed to be together in the King’s eyes.

WoD: Nacreous

The girl looked back at soft light emerald pools. Her expression gave nothing away as she pondered through her thoughts, summing up an appropriate answer. She struggled with putting emotions into words. Ever had not only come to see Ezra because she wanted to, but because her feelings refused to let her stay away any longer. His breath against her ears made her turn her head to look at his face. He smelt vaguely of water that a storm brought and the subtle fragrance of mint. Heart pounded against her breast’s unsteady rising and falling rhythm.

Back facing Vigilante, the girl studied his eyes for another seemingly long moment. The gentleness of the liquid green irises made her think of the colors in the water the first time she and Ezra had met in the Grotto. It had been love at first sight, if she could define the time. They had shared the moment the storm had ceased its sickly breathing, and traveled until their paws reached sand on the other side. She had melted into his stygian fur and so began their first night together.

The afternoon had started off in an old-ordinary way. Sunset had called the youth to the shore where the sea as red as blood had nearly swallowed her. Night fell like a shade, and she recalled being frightened. Taking shelter was all that was on her mind, until she met him.

Eyes bright, Ever tried to hide the stomach twisting euphoria. She could almost see the nacreous moon reflecting in Ezra’s disheveled eyes.

I feel like I have never felt before, and I like this feeling.

It was love, the emotion that the girl spoke of. All the moments they had touched had made her burn with apathy and she didn’t want to do a thing about it.

I want to be his. He to be mine.

murder me. Please. I iz a fail.

Vigilante was the only wolf Ezra knew that could turn his emotions to nothing. It was not that he disliked the King, quite the contrary, but his sheer presence made the mutt uncomfortable enough to resort to puppy-like behavior. At Vigilante’s comment, Ezra’s ears flattened to the back of his head, bi-colored eyes gazing at the ground. He was almost embarrassed at the King’s comment. Did he deserve to feel this way? Well, of course he did, but the fact that another being commented on them, made his feelings an open topic of debate, was nothing short of unnerving.

When Ever answered her adopted father’s question, however, the feeling of unease drifted away. Ezra relaxed by Ever’s warm and comforting side. She was that rock, that source of wholeness he had always been looking for. She was the being he searched for while he was off on his own, in the desolate and unforgiving wilderness. Though he had been through hell and back, this moment made everything worth it. Being before the king and admitting the emotions he truly felt was the most incredible feeling in the world. She was his, forever, until death or something worse tore them apart. That was never going to change. What an incredible feeling.

“I humbly ask for you blessing, your highness,”Ezra looked at those intoxicatingly clear irises of his love before finally making eye contact with his superior. “I promise to protect her, take care of her, love her, and be Ever’s whole life. And I know she will do the same for me. I love her very, very much.”

They were such young lovers. They were so stupid, so young, so carefree. But they had nothing to lose. With Vigilante’s blessing, they would build a new life together, whether he was a werewolf or not.

300+ words.

The youg pair of canines standing before him were so young, but Vigilante knew that he could not begrudge them their feelings because of their age. The fact was that he was happy to hear that Ever had fallen in love, and if it was with Ezra, whom he found pleasant but did not know much of at all, then the caramel-colored cat-mutt wanted nothing more than for her to be with him. He had known that Ever was growing up quickly, as she had already been so close to adulthood when he had taken her in, and he was happy for her.

He listened to both of them speak, a dignified smile gracing his muzzle. There was not a thought in his mind to deny them their request, and it was not something he would ever do, even if he was questioning the budding relationship. Love was something that needed to be explored and enjoyed, and he wanted them to have that chance for as long as they wished, though he certainly hoped it would be for the entirity of their lives. Though he had the fatherly instinct to want to protect Ever from everyone and everything, Vigilante knew this was not possible, and he had to admit that they looked nice together.

"It would be wrong of me, as both a father and a King, to deny your request," he began, "but it just so happens that I am very happy for you. I am so glad to find that you have found someone who makes you happy, Ever, and it warms my heart to know he feels the same way. I want for you to be happey together, Ever, Ezra. Of course you have my blessing," he added then, facing Ezra more now, for he was almost certain that it would be Ezra who took that step, not Ever. It was the way of things, usually.

wheee! ^_^ yaaay –throws confetti in the air-

Ezra wondered about the King. They knew virtually nothing of each other – had he ever fallen in love? Was he really as aloof as he seemed? Ezra wished these questions could be answered – after all, Vigilante was going to be his father-in-law now. The King had granted his request, and so Ezra mentally decided to know Vigilante better. He wanted to know who skedaddled the kingdom, and who was going to be there for his (albeit small) new family.

Ezra gave his superior one last submissive look, smiling, muttering a quiet “thank you.” Ezra slowly picked his frame off the ground, aware of the cold patch on his side that lacked Ever’s body heat after he moved. It was time. He sighed quietly, suddenly full of nerves, before he started. “Ever, you and I are incredibly different. But, that’s what makes us work so well – you have taught me about myself, and I hope my way of life has affected you too. I have fallen so hard for you, and… I didn’t think it was possible. I can’t imagine living here without you. You have become the most important person in my life and someone I would die to be without, werewolf or not. Everything will be okay. Ever, I love you. Be mine, til death do us part?” He was shaking, nervous in front of the King. He knew he was protective of Ever despite the fact that she was grown up. But things were going to change. Everything was going to be okay now.

Ridiculous wait. Kill me. I will end it here.

She could feel her stomach drop, or maybe it was her heart shifting out of place. Something about her was different as soon as Ezra finished speaking. Ocean colored eyes gave the King a submissive look that lasted barely a second. Her eyes twinkled as she blinked at her love.

Of course, Ezra. I will love you and care for you. Nothing will take you away from me. I cannot live without your heat. You are a part of me and my life belongs to yours.

Ever didn’t know if she was saying her I dos right. She spoke from her heart and not her head which was numb in her skull. It was hard to concentrate. Her heart beat made the edges of her vision blurry at every pound. Her fur crawled as she felt both the male’s gaze over her. She knew, unconditionally, she was Ezra’s now.
