I'll make a new world

parrker! <3

As always he had asked his mother if he could go out to play. He remembered the taller wolf’s bright smile, nodding at the same time she spoke the words that were to encourage him to go out and play on his own. Though it wasn’t just on his own that she wanted, she was hoping that he would go without her. But she didn’t tell him that and so the pup didn’t know that was her ultimate goal. The masked boy felt brave though, venturing off without his mother, even without his brothers. Black painted paws padded over the grass of the front lawn of the manor, his nose snuffling at the ground and taking in all the familiar smells.

That was what he wanted, the familiar. He wanted his home and with that he wished for something just a bit different. So the large pup drew inward and found a place inside himself that could change, and his imagination sparkled slightly behind his eyes and he opened his closed lids to find a new world for him to live in and among. The fall foliage was different then the green he had been born to, and so he pounced beneath a tall Oak tree and kicked leaves as he gave deep hissing growls.

After he had met the black cat named Element he had moved from pretending he was a horse to pretending he was a cat. The black and green-eyed feline was a bit small for him, so he imagined he was the large one, the one he had found in his book of animals. He couldn’t read the name yet, but he knew it was big like him and had a bushy hair cut that wrapped around his whole head. Black covered eyes closed as he extended his neck forward as the feline had in the picture, his mouth opened wide and a wolf-pup roar coming forth as he faced the tree who had become his newest opponent. Every so often he would move over the roots, jumping into the piles of leaves that the tall branches had produced to roar and bat at the tree once again.

The chill in the autumn air was a warning to the cinnamon toned girl that the weather was destined to change soon. She knew of autumn and winter only from what she had been told by her parents. The sunshine girl loved to see the leaves changing color, the reds, oranges and golds that covered the deciduous trees and the ground around them. The dryer ones also made a fascinating crunching noise. It made it difficult for her to keep quiet like she so enjoyed, but she had grown to accept it. She loved to explore the outdoors, and the outdoors was covered in these dry leaves. Therefore, crunching around was inevitable.

Golden orbs searched the trees for birds, while her cinnamon ears searched for their songs on the wind. Parker was fascinated by the feathered creatures. They came in so many colors, had unique and often beautiful voices, and they could fly! There was lots to love about them. However, her ears did not find the sounds of birds but a rather unnatural sound. It sounded like a roar, yet was far too high pitched. Whatever it was, she hoped it wasn't dangerous. Her nose informed her of a definitive luperci scent in the area. Perhaps this individual was the source of the strange noise. The cinnamon sugar girl's curiosity couldn't be helped, and in no time she had altered course to investigate. The scent led her to a young male. She knew this other pup! Not personally, mind you, in fact she only knew of him because she knew his mother was second in command of Crimson Dreams. Alder was his name. She remembered when mama had told her when Anu had given birth. He was younger than she was, but not much smaller. Golden orbs watched his mannerisms, very different from the standard luperci. He seemed to be mimicking something. A cat perhaps? She had seen one once, in passing, but the creature had bolted at the first sight of her. Was he the source of the weird roaring noise?

Delicate pads carried her into the clearing where the young male played, only choosing to announce herself when she was close enough for him to hear her. Oddly enough, despite her lack of speaking experience she was as fluent as most adults in her use of both her father's English and her mother's Italian tongue. However, she kept her words quiet. "E-excuse me?" her announcement was very timid, and quiet, but still audible. "I don't mean to intrude. I was just was wondering what you were doing?" Her inquiry was polite and proper, as her mother had taught her. Hopefully he would be willing to explain.

The little lion hopped another unearthed tree root, shaking his large mane and scraping his claws along the trunk of the massive tree. It was the kind that his brother had been named after, and so Alder would never really hurt it. He only pretended, for his little puppy claws were soft and couldn’t truly hurt anyone or thing. But as he imagined, they ripped through the bark and made deep lines that would warn anyone that saw them that a creature that was not to be messed with lived here. Then another attack, and the lion pup was on his toes and hopping another tree root (they just never seemed to end) and rounded the trunk with a mighty roar to fight off his invisible foes.

It wasn’t until he heard her voice that Alder-lion noticed that he was being watched. A soft feminine Excuse me came to his ears and the round statured boy stopped in his lion pretending steps. He was instantly humiliated, and his shy nature returned just as quickly as his pretending had come over him. The masked pup turned to see the light hued female, she was just about his size but he knew that she was older. She spoke fluidly and just as calmly and collectively as his mother did. She was beautiful, for Alder saw such things instantly, and he wondered just as quickly why she was talking to him. Alder sat looking down and shuffling a paw just as he always did when he felt a bashful.

He knew that he needed to answer her, and his blue eyes looked up from the ground and his voice was meek as he spoke. I was practicing to be a He paused still not knowing what the cat was called, big cat. He was a big one, not the little tabbies that might hang around the Manor in the chance of catching a mouse hiding in the stone foundation. What are you doing? He asked, his tone soft and curious but the question was more of a defense then anything, wanting to place the focus on her rather then himself.

Yay for delayed replies -_-.

The surprise and shyness in the younger boy's eyes left Parker feeling a bit rude, perhaps even mean for interrupting his game. He had seemed to enthralled in his own imaginations, and now that she thought about it she would not have wanted to be discovered doing such things. She saw his gaze on her and felt her own gaze drop to her feet, a warm, timid blush rising on her pale cheeks. His answer made her smile, and she turned to look at him again, finding courage in his willingness to speak. The elder girl had to think for a moment as his own question reached her cinnamon ears. What had she been doing? "Well, I was looking for birds to watch. I like listening to them, and watching them fly," she replied with an honest, if not still shy, smile. "I'm sorry I interrupted you. You looked very convincing as a big cat. Were you trying to be a specific one?" she inquired, her head slightly tilted to indicate her curiosity. Through the studies she had done with her father, she knew of a few types of large felines, though she had only seen pictures of them. Lions lived in groups like wolves, tigers had stripes, jaguars and leopards had spots and were hard to tell apart, and cougars were from around here and were to be avoided. Her knowledge of these animals was very limited, but she was still curious to know what Alder had been trying to be.

Golden orbs found themselves lingering on Alder's masked face and quickly turned away. Had she been staring? Why was it always so hard to tell when looking at someone was polite and when it became rude? All of these various social things were so hard. When Mama was around it was easy because Parker was comfortable around her, but by herself it was difficult for the Sadira girl to be openly social.

Alder didn’t think it was rude of her at all, no he was simply embarrassed that he hadn’t heard her approach and was caught in the middle of his little play dance. His blue eyes looked at the older girl, and he looked away when she did. The little male generally didn’t look anyone in the face, finding that their eyes on him made his face warm and self-conscious. It would have been quite a sight to see the two quiet youths standing before one another with both pairs of eyes cast down on the ground.

He answer made him look at her again, there was a small smile on his maw. One that he couldn’t help. She looked at birds too? He questioned in silence, wondering if she had ever tried to introduce herself to them just like he had. He wasn’t sure if anyone else had ever tried that, and the adults that had caught him doing so had always told him that there was no point in doing so. He believed them of course, but there was still a little piece of the tree-named male that made him hope that he was not the only one that wished to speak with birds and turtles and rabbits. I like to watch them too. He commented, sheepishly.

With her question Alder was unsure of what to say, since he didn’t know what kind of cat the book had called it. Describing it was as good as the pup could make it. The one big one with the fuzzy hair. He said with a small awkward squeak at the end.

He liked birds too? What a wonderful coincidence! The revelation by the younger male left a bright, excited smile on her face. For the longest time, she had thought that one of her favorite pass times had been a little odd, considering she knew of so few who enjoyed it as much as she. Yet, here was one now! How perfect was that? Golden orbs looked up at his face for a moment before turning away again, but this time upwards towards the tree tops, "They sure are amazing. The things they do can be so funny. It makes you wonder what they're thinking sometimes, doesn't it?" she questioned, not really expecting an answer, in fact her own words surprised her a bit as she had been unintentionally thinking out loud.

The cinnamon sugar girl returned her attention to the young male as he thought for a moment on her question. She would not blame him if he did not know the names of the big cats. She had only just learned of some of them within the past week. However, his description was unmistakable to the Sadira girl, "That sounds like a lion! The male's have really big manes, but the girls don't. My Dad taught me about them from one of his books," she revealed excitedly, her quiet voice dancing through the air as she spoke of her father. Kansas Sadira was not the biggest, or strongest of the pack's males, but to his youngest daughter he was the best of them all. More knowledgable than everyone, though he had said mama knew more than him, and the greatest protector she could ever ask for. Of course, this was always the opinion of budding adolescent girls when it came to their sweet, loveable fathers.

The brief daydreams of her father's grandieur faded into the recesses of her memory and once again she noticed the seemingly long silence that had fallen between them at the moment. She, in most cases, preferred quiet above all else, but for some reason she hoped that this younger male would add another subject to their talk. He seemed like he had much to share, but needed a willing recipient of his information. None was more eager to receive than Parker, a girl constantly thirsting for knowledge.

Alder had like birds from the very beginning, though he was no longer a real fan of swans after being chased by one. Parker’s Aunt had been the on to save him from the large white beast, and then walked him home to make sure he got there safely. But now the blue eyes boy looked at the Sadira fey, taking in her words and forgetting that he might be staring as she spoke. It took him a second or two to think of an answer even though it was a pretty easy question to reply to. The large male nodded his head, Yeah. was all that he could give, thoughts running slowly for some reason as he looked at the cinnamon hued girl.

She spoke the name of the cat, and for some reason the name fit perfectly. A smile came to his face, and he gave a quick nod, That’s the one. he gave when she paused. Alder knew who he dad was, the white male that his mother had told them would someday teach them to read. When they were old enough of course. Alder looked at the Marino and Sadira family as something he was slightly awed by. The tawny and black hued boy loved his family, and did not feel as if there was something missing. But he was fascinated by the dynamics that were held with two parents, and a father was something he knew he and his brother lacked. Thus it was something that he looked at as amazing, and slightly confusing.

My mum said that your dad could teach us to read, and write. He commented, his eyes did not look at the girl now. Did she know who his mother was? And that he was the brother of Oak and Cypress...

Yay, my muse decided to wake up for a change ^_^. We need a new Ruri and Heath thread...I should PM you about that.

The Sadira girl couldn't help but smile as Alder recognized the name of the lion. His immitation had been spot on, at least from what she had been taught. Pretending was one of the best ways for young luperci to learn. She had done so many times with her siblings, though she had always played the silent creature. The cinnamon toned femme could only smile as she thought back on those games of their early puphood. She was not that old, even now, but it seemed so long ago that she, Silvano and Artemis had played those games of make believe.

A few seconds passed before Parker was shaken from her daydream by Alder's statement, regarding her father. Daddy was going to teach Alder and his siblings to read and write? That made sense, since he was teaching Parker and her siblings as well. He was a very good teacher. She had been picking things up quickly, but she had a feeling she would grasp concepts faster if she were actually able to hold the books in her hands. Oh how she wished she could shift forms! Maybe she just hadn't tried hard enough yet. Surely that had to be it. "Dad's good at that. I think you'll like learning to read. He's just started teaching my siblings and me, but with his help we're learning fairly quickly. I can't wait until I can actually read whole books on my own," she replied, a wishful smile etched on her features. Her quiet voice still carried that zest and excitement for life that she had always had, even in her months of silence. Learning was something she hoped to never tire of, and it excited her to find someone who seemed just as eager for it.

do PM me!!! we need to get on all that ;D

The world was filled with all sorts of animals that Alder knew nothing about. Creatures big and small that lived all over the globe and most he would never get to see. He had met a cat, and to the pup that had been quite the adventure. He wanted to know more, well he actually wanted to know everything and the tower named boy knew that books would be the key. He wasn’t going to be so lucky that he could find one of every animal to meet. Many didn’t even want to stick around to talk to him. He needed to know how to read so that he could learn more about them.

Me too. Alder said with a slight excitement. The pups ears fell slightly, knowing that he had spoken loudly and grew embarrassed at the thought of it. But she was bright and eager about the subject as well and the feeling was contagious. Alder was quiet for a moment, then a curiosity over came him and he as he stole another glance at the cream and red tinted female. I saw… He paused for a brief moment and then gathered the courage to continue, a few birds in those bushes over there. Do you know many names? He looked in the direction of the berry bush that housed a gathering of small birds flocking for the summer. His mother had taught him as many as she knew...
