Ever dream

The castle would never be home, but it was the closest thing Bris felt to having one for the time being. Her true home would always be in Dahlia de Mai, but ever since the catastrophic blow-up between herself and Conor, she'd been suffering from a self-imposed feeling of not belonging. The home she shared with Conor and her nephews felt cold and unwelcoming, and the Stormbringer had been spending less and less time there lately. She'd been tied there for awhile of course, as she was the one to feed Gideon's adopted children Melee and Range, but they'd been recently weaned. No longer did Bris have to worry about being back in Dahlia at certain times to nurse the growing puppies, and the white woman found herself avoiding her packmates and home more and more as time went on.

With no time constraints forced upon the Dahlian theta, Bris found herself spending more time at the castle she'd stumbled upon a few months ago. It was hauntingly beautiful, in a strong, silent, sorrowful sort of way. Its dark atmosphere matched the shewolf's frequent mood as of late, and its thick walls sheltered her both literally and figuratively from the storms that seemed to seek her out. There was never a plethora of scents around the castle, and Bris assumed it wasn't all that popular a spot. She had a feeling that not many others either knew of or cared for the dark shadow of the structure, and that suited the woman just fine. Privacy and solitude had been the white Dahlian's closest friends lately, and she found herself preferring things that way for the time being.

Bris sighed softly as she curled up in her usual spot in the second-floor room. She was snuggled against the corner of the room, sitting atop the still-standing bed with her knees pulled to her chest as she stared out the window at the clear blue sky. The weather today was exactly the opposite of the light woman's dark mood, but the innermost depths of the castle still reflected that perfectly. Sunlight streamed through the glassless casement, lighting the far side of the room brightly as Bris huddled instead in shadow. For the past few weeks, the mother-to-be had felt nothing but disconnected and hollow, despite the life growing in her womb. Even now, as she struggled to think of things beside her current predicament, her left hand was resting protectively across the growing swell of her belly.

Sapphire and amethyst eyes stared wistfully at the passing clouds. This should have been a happy time for Bris and Conor. They loved one another, didn't they? No, she shouldn't think of it that way. There was no denying Bris' own feelings for the alpha, and she knew in her heart that Conor still felt the same toward her, despite his terrified reaction at what had come from their lovemaking. Bris had reacted to his fear with anger, and over the past few weeks, she realized that she'd been foolish and selfish to react in that way. As her emotions had finally come under control over the course of a few days, Bris realized the reason for her beloved's outrageous idea of aborting their children, even if she didn't understand the reason behind the male's fear. After all, she was terrified as well. Bris had helped to raise many of the orphaned puppies that had come to be taken in by Dahlia de Mai, including her own brother's offspring, but this would be different. Dahlia's next litter would be her own, and there was no denying it would change things for her. Aside from that, Bris knew that in childbirth, she would face the possibility that every mother-to-be feared most: death. No, it wasn't the prospect of death that she really feared, it was leaving her newborn children without a mother that truly froze her heart with the icy grip of terror.

Bris sighed heavily as she forced the fear back. God how she wished Kol were still alive. If there were ever a time the white woman was in need of her big sister's support, it was now. But there was no use in wishing for things that could never be. Kol was gone, and was never coming back. Bris knew her spirit was always with her, but it wasn't the same, could never be the same. With how badly things had gone between her and Conor, Bris found herself now in a self-imposed box of isolation in a time when she needed support the most. Instead of happiness and love, her heart was filled with fear and regret, and a hollowness that she knew could only be filled by one person alone. And Bris would be surprised if that person even realized how she still felt about him, with the hurtful words she'd accosted him with those few weeks ago.

Minutes had turned into hours, hours into days. Eventually those days had turned into weeks, and the ache in his heart could no longer be held at bay. The coin coloured male continued to be torn beyond belief about the new life blooming in the Stormbringer woman’s belly, but if you couldn’t fix it, you had to stand it. There was a hole in the world now, and he couldn’t find her. The pale woman with the mismatched eyes had not fled the area, but she had more or less gone missing from his life. He walked around, carrying guilt and sorrow along everywhere. He didn’t wish to lose more than he had to, and he most certainly did not want to lose her. He feared the train had come and gone, but he would fight for what he thought was right. He couldn’t be selfish anymore.

Hours had passed when the male finally stepped into the dark building, guided by a recent trail of scent that belonged to her. The first floor was vacant, he knew, and he followed her delicate perfume blindly now. Up the stairs and down the corridor until he stood outside the room inhabited by her lovely presence. Anger no longer dominated his heart, for more prominent emotions had pushed it away and taken its place. He missed her sorely, and he was too selfish to let her go. Instead, he should try to trust the Stormbringer faerie. Was it not he that made a point not to judge prematurely? He couldn’t turn on his own words. His form hesitated for a moment, but he decided against knocking. He wouldn’t risk anything now that he had finally found her.

These weeks without her had been hard enough on him. Silently, the male pushed the door open and entered the airy room. Perhaps the architecture was lovely, but lilac only saw the pale form of the soul mate he had pushed away. Yes, he was frightened, but he had no right to ask for her to end the life growing within her. She seemed forlorn; lost, and he slowly stepped closer to the lonely form on the bed. No words had been chosen and polished beforehand, but he had always meant that the two of them had connected beyond words. Immerse sadness resided within his orbs as he watched her. He hoped she would be able to forgive him. Anticipation burned within him, and if she wanted to be the one to toss the first stone, then he would willingly bleed for her.

So lost was Bris in her own thoughts that Conor was able to enter her sanctuary without her notice. His movement as he drew closer finally caught her eye, and for a moment, Bris felt her heart stop. The white woman wasn't normally quite so easy to sneak up on, and her hand tightened over her womb as she pressed against the wall. Her startled reaction lasted only a mere moment, however, and she relaxed as she realized just who had snuck up on her. Emotions warred visibly in her eyes as she froze, simply staring at him. He seemed different than he'd been the last time they'd been alone; there was a certain sadness and hints of something more in his beautiful lilac eyes. Though she'd stiffened initially, it was painfully obvious that the alpha of Dahlia de Mai had not sought out his theta with conflict in mind.

Bris wanted to smile, but she couldn't. Caution was first and foremost in her mind, and she wouldn't let that stubborn sliver of hope see the light of day just yet. Her heart once more formed a painful lump in her throat, and she had to willfully prevent her teeth from nibbling on her lip as she often did when deep in thought or utterly confused as to how to react to something. Conor made no move to come closer, clearly unsure himself as to how to approach. To be honest, the male seemed even more lost and confused than Bris herself was at the moment.

Swallowing down the bullet-sized lump in her throat, Bris knew she'd have to be the one to make the first move. Anger had long since left her heart, and there was no question of forgiving the Soul male. She could only hope he'd forgive her for her wrongdoings as well. Bris made no move to leave her spot, but her face softened as she locked her eyes with the lilac gaze of her beloved. For love him she still did, despite what had happened between them. Though her eyes still held a hint of regret and sadness, the white woman felt the corner of her lip tugging into the barest of a melancholy smile. "Hey there, Captain. Long time no see."

Fail post is fail, sorry<3 Q_Q

A new wave of sorrow rolled through his body, but he was relieved to receive such a calm response to his intrusion. He had missed her smile, and cherished it despite the melancholy hue clinging to it. He had hurt her with his words and he truly regretted the suggestion of bringing an end to the life blooming in her belly. He could be angry for her stubbornness, but that was also something he loved about the pale Stormbringer princess. A small hint of a smile was pulling at the corners of his own lips, and the pain of the distance that had existed between them for a while now was vividly displayed even without his approval.

He didn’t want to pretend anymore. ”Bris,” his heart fluttered with the uncertainty that made his existence to painful right now. His feet were suddenly quick to extinguish the distance between the two, but when he reached the bed he slowed down considerably, afraid she would misunderstand his intentions. ”I was a fool,” those were scary words to utter aloud, but he needed her to know. The caramel male settled next to her with his frame facing her lovely form. The swell of her belly surprised him, but he forced his lavender gaze to remain on her face. Again unable to allow the scene to develop slowly, he reached out to embrace her, slowly in case she wished to shy away from this act.

HOMG break in customers. x.x Sucky post, I wanna WRITE again. Sad

Bris was caught by surprise a bit as Conor seemed to rush to her side. Her heart fluttered as that quiet voice of hope rose up again, but she calmed it as he hesitated at her bedside. Her chest pounded with anticipation as she waited for his response. Would he still suggest an end to the life growing within her, or did he instead come to say he'd accepted it? Eternity hung in the air between the two lovers as they simply lost themselves in one another's eyes.

Then all at once, the tension broke. Bris' eyes spilled over at Conor's words, and she leaned in to embrace him as he wrapped his arms around her. Hot tears streamed silently down her snowy white cheeks as she held onto him, her heart nearly bursting with relief and joy. For weeks, this had been all she'd wanted, to lose herself in the Soul male's arms and wrap herself in his scent like a warm blanket. She'd been terrified it was all over, that she would never again have the closeness she'd come to adore with the young alpha. And yet, here he was, still clearly feeling the same for Bris as she still did for him.

"So was I, Conor. I'm so sorry." The white woman's voice was a warm whisper in Conor's ear as she rested her chin on his shoulder, unwilling to pull away from the embrace too soon. There was a tiny part of her childish heart that was still afraid this was all a dream, and that her beloved would simply evaporate like the mist when she let go.

She was not at fault here, and it hurt him to hear her say sorry when there was nothing to apologize for in her case. It was wonderful to feel her form cradled against him though. He could feel her wet, hot tears soaking into his warm hued fur as she wept. Fingers brushed through her silky locks. It was wonderful to have her in his arms again, and it was not until this moment that he realized exactly how long it had been since they had been this close. Their relationship had never really had the chance to take off before he had withdrawn and tossed his walls up. Poor Bris had not deserved any of it, but she was still here for him.

His fears back then seemed inane now, especially considering her pregnancy. The worst possible in his world had happened, but he had remembered that he was an individual set on finding solutions instead of obstacles. The life inside the white female’s womb belonged to him as well, and he had to take responsibility for that. Furthermore, he loved this gentle Stormbringer girl more than he had loved anything. The Soul male would never allow idiocy to take over his senses again. Light cream muzzle dug into her soft pelt, drawing in her beautiful scent. It was different than before, maturing with the bloom of motherhood.

”You never did anything wrong,” he simply uttered as he continued to hold on to her. Why had it taken him to long to realize how important this woman was to him? He feared the children of his blood now as he had then, but he wouldn’t give them up. They could do this.
