Adopting character

Does adopting a character count as a second character? >.< I just wasn't sure if the limit was in creating a character into souls or as to wether it was about how many you control in general..cause if it didn't count you would see more people playing adopted characters.

When the character is actually going to be played actively on the site, then it does count as an auxiliary character, but you are free to PM someone with an Open Character at any time inquiring if you can adopt it or reserve it for whenever you are able to bring in a second character
