You can call me..

ooc: 523 words. Just so you know, Garter snakes produce a bit of venom that results in some minor swelling and itching, but it's mild. :3

The traveler nodded once, assured by the answer that Skye had given him. He wasn't going to let this one slither away from him like the rat did, though, and he crossed the room quickly to the source. The floorboards were caked with dust, and creaked with the weight, but then all fell quiet again. Bat-like ears twitched as he heard the slithering of the creature across the floor again, and from the corner of his eye he caught the edge of a long body go under the dusty couch.

Bangle looked to the other female and pressed a finger to his lips, indicating for her to stay quiet. Then, with the same paw, he made the motion for her to come over and come to the back side of the couch. Bangle's intention was to lift and push the front of the couch up, while Skye pulled the back, for him to get at the creature. Keeping his knife gripped in his right hand, he kept his eyes on the black space between the couch and the floor.

"We'll get 'em," the coywolf whispered, despite that he told the other female to keep quiet not moments ago. And besides, some fresh snake would provide for a quick snack, or at least a good offering to the female who had helped him pick his house out. Bangle wasn't really thinking of the snake in the house as being venomous, but he'd dealt with several of them, venomous or not, several times before. Why should this time be any different?

Bangle was impatient, then, and decided to make a move without the other female coming to help. It would've been better, anyways, if she was out of harms way if the snake was indeed poisonous. With both hands the traveler leaned forward and pushed the arm of the couch, sending half of it backwards, skidding on the floorboards. And there the snake was, curled up and staring daggers at the one who discovered him. It was a small Garter snake, about two feet in length. As small as it was, though, it produced a very high-pitched hissing sound, threatening the large coyote mix. The male moved to grab it by the tail, and as he did so the snake quickly struck him in the wrist before Bangle had a chance to slice the dagger across its head. Bangle didn't let go of the snake until he had done the deed of killing it, and then he dropped it. He made to sit on the couch, staring at his wrist where blood began to dot the areas where the snake bit him.

Glancing at the female, he grinned and leaned over to pick up the snake with his uninjured hand. "Ya hungry?" He said, chuckling, but set it back down on the floor where he picked it up. Orange-yellow eyes glanced down at the hand the snake bit, and watched as the spot was starting to swell slightly. Bangle knew he was in no real danger, and he shook his head as his throat produced another chuckle. "Can't 'ave a rose without its thorns, eh?"

wc: 244 WAT // skye calls them garden snakes cause she's weird : P

Skye cautiously watched as Bangle crept closer to the slithering sound. Skye hoped he didn't do anything rash - she didn't want him to be hurt. She was surprised at her worry for him - she had just met him today. But for some reason, she liked Bangle a lot. It seemed like she had known him for a lot longer than just today, and she wasn't sure why. She was glad she found a house for him - she was also glad it was in Thornbury, nearer to her house. She really liked him, she realized as he neared the couch that the mysterious snake was hiding under, and she felt a spasm of fear. She wanted to warn him not to make any sudden movements, but she couldn't, now; Bangle had made his move.

Skye gasped as Bangle lifted the couch to reveal...just a garden snake. The white female almost laughed out loud, glad. Garden snakes weren't very poisonous, and Bangle certainly wouldn't die if it bit him. He would get a little itchy, but it was better than the alternative. Much better.

The coywolf killed the snake deftly, but not before he was bitten. Skye rushed to his side, seeing the bite. "Don't worry, garden snakes aren't very poisonous," she said. She then laughed at his comment about her being hungry. "Uh, you keep it," she teased lightly.
