We Heard November Rain

Short start, sorry XD;

The Marino family had prospered here. In the two short years that she had come to this continent she had become a mother of six, and an aunt to nine. It nearly made the woman's head spin. Back in Italy their family had been so small. It had only been the four of them, mother and children. Then they had slowly all fallen apart and against all odds they had come back together in this foreign land across the ocean and now their family was growing and growing. The birth of her sister's three newest pups was, as nearly all births are, a joyous occasion. Since then though she had visited Ghita and her newborns only sparingly, wanting to give her sister plenty of space and time to bond with her three new children. Pups grew up so fast and it was important that parents got every wonderful moment that they could with their babies.

Today though she felt that enough time had passed since their birth that she could go for a longer visit with her sister. Savina had gone out into their lands and managed to race down a good sized rabbit and carried it proudly with her back into the mansion. She climbed the stairs to Ghita and Jazper's room and her front paw rose to scratch on the door, being unable to knock in her current form and her mouth being full of rabbit. The Consul's tail waved back and forth, hoping that she hadn't come at a bad time.

Wc: 605

It had turned out okay. Everything had turned out okay, in the end. She didn't dare to hope so, for their lives were still early yet, but Ghita could almost imagine that her troublesome experiences with childbirth had finally been put behind her. Her dusty brown-and-silver pelt rose and spring as she lay on the bed, her head lying on a comfortable pelt Jazper had found for her, in her optime form as three small bundles of joy clung to her belly in a heap of tired forms. At just 3 weeks, Ghita had already weaned them off of her milk (and all for the better, since three pups were beginning to tire her), and they had taken with glee to the wonders of regurgitated meat, something that the fae had thought was disgusting at first - but of course, it was for both litters of children, and she'd provided for them almost without thinking about it.

It was now that their personalities and appearances were developing at a rapid pace, although one couldn't tell from their sleeping bodies. Tony, the largest of the three with his chocolate brown-and-white pelt lay on the top, half on Fia and half on Lorenzo, while Fia's nose was stuck between Lorenzo's forepaws, and the aforementioned boy had somehow fallen asleep with his bottom pointing to the sky. All of their eyes were light blue at this point, highlighting each child's pelt in an astonishing manner, but Ghita didn't expect that to last - already their eyes were beginning to muddle with colours. Positioning her nose onto her mound of puppies, the ebony appendage rested gently on the bodies, feeling all three chests rise and spring rapidly, accompanied by the occasional twitching and yipping that came with dreams. Was Ghita sleep deprived? Definitely. But she wouldn't trade these moments for the world, the peace slinking in through the cracks of her life.

Nevertheless, it couldn't last forever. A scratching on the door caused the fae's ears to rise in alarm, leaving the puppies sound asleep, before her sister's scent wafted in and calmed Ghita's fur. Trying to awkwardly shuffle around her sleeping babies didn't work too well, as her movement caused Lorenzo to spring on Fia, waking the girl up with an astonished 'yip!', which in turn caused Toby to bolt for the high seas, waking Lorenzo up as well. Smiling at the domino affect, she swung her frame over the edge of the bed, taking advantage of the fact that her children were still disentangling themselves from each other, and limped lightly towards the door, the pain in her leg becoming less and less each day. Quickly pulling the handle open, she let her Lupus sister in just as Fia scampered to the edge of the bed, seemingly about to hurl her white-and-white-accented body to the floor to greet this stranger. Moving with the instinct of a mother with troublesome puppies, Ghita scooped her youngest into her slender paw, gathering Tony and Lorenzo up into her other arm before sitting back onto the bed, trying to hold onto her squirming puppies. Yips and babbles could be heard from each of them, baby blue eyes wide open in outrage at this intruder, just waiting to investigate with all the energy in the world, despite their nap just moments before. "E 'bello vederti, Savina Per favore, vieni su!" Patting the bed with her tail (due to the puppies in her arms) the fae's turquoise orbs sparkled with the joy that could be read from miles away, along with the pride of three healthy, happy, puppies. "Ci sono alcune persone che piacerebbe conoscerla."

Savina wasn't surprised that the response to her scratch on the door wasn't immediate. Every mother with new pups, no matter how many litters she had had before, was always on high alert for anything that could pose a potential danger to her babies. It didn't matter how safe a space one was in, a new mother was always on edge for the welfare of her pups. Soon enough the woman heard some shifting movement behind the door and soon a surprised yelp or two that made her ears fall back against her head. It seemed she had interrupted nap time and now she felt exceedingly guilty; of course she would have come at some inopportune time. The ebony fey was ready to be told that now wasn't a good time to visit when her sister opened the door, welcoming her in.

The Marino matron walked quickly inside the warm room just in time to see her newest niece racing towards the edge of the bed. Her whole body stiffened and if her mouth hadn't been full she would have likely let out a worried exclamation, but of course Ghita scooped her little girl up before anything bad could happen. Savina instantly relaxed and dropped the rabbit to the floor as her sister invited her up onto the bed; she didn't want any blood to stain the furs that the family slept on. "È buono per vederla anche! Questo è per lei, quando lei lo vuole," she said, nosing the dead rodent before elegantly jumping up next to her sister.

The woman's emerald eyes roved over the three squirming pups with unrestrained delight. Her tail padded against the padded surface of the bed. "Sono cresciuti già così molto!" They were no longer blind, deaf little bundles that barely looked like canines at all. Their eyes were still blue, but they were already exhibiting their uniqueness.

Ghita does love her rabbits, hurr durr.
Wc: 585

The domino effect from her recently awakened children would have been comical to see, if the pace that Ghita had to move at wasn't so hectic. Snapping her neck around this way, scooping up a puppy here only to see another one totter off into trouble with her turquoise orbs the next way. She'd thought it had been difficult with two pups - how Savina managed two litters of three were beyond this fae. Giving a reassured smile towards Savina's reaction, Ghita pressed her nose against Fia's light-hued body, not making any attempt to hide her glee at having new puppies to hold. "E 'avventuroso sufficiente a dare una corsa per i suoi soldi Artemis!"

Sharing the newest Marinos with her sister was something that Ghita had only experienced once before, but would never forget the kinship she felt whenever they were together like this. No longer was the nagging voice at the back of her head, reminding her that with every one of the ebony fae's successes Ghita had failed; They both had two healthy, wonderful litters of puppies that would make Crimson Dreams proud one day. Holding onto her children a little tighter but all the more gentle, Ghita eyed the lagomorph that lay on her floor, grinning in delight. Savina had been so clever to think of not bringing it up onto the bed - Ghita never washed the pelts, but a blood stain on the blankets would be a little too much to handle, added in with the dust and dirt from everyday life. "Oh, grazie tanto, Savi, ho voglia di un coniglio buono! Jaz uscito per una battuta di caccia, non troppo tempo fa, ma non è ancora rientrato, i cuccioli e non si può vivere di latte per sempre."

Releasing her small children on her beautiful sister, Ghita sought out the ebony fur with her nose for a moment, nuzzling her sister in a rare display of affection. "Stanno crescendo così in fretta, giuro che la maggior parte di essi deve possedere gene gigante Jaz."She joked, winking at Savina before nudging her children out from behind, on top of and between her paws. Now that the newcomer had come ever closer, they seemed a little shy towards Savina, blue eyes blinking widely up at her with a small chorus of surprised barks to be heard. "Incontra Tony, Lorenzo, e Fia, Savi." Ghita voiced, pointing out her brown-and-black hued then her timber wolf-hued sons, before finally pointing with her ivory gloved finger to her darling daughter, the white girl with black accents. "I bambini, andare a salutare la zia Savi."

Cautiously at first, the pups approached their aunt one by one, Tony first with Fia close on his heels. Lorenzo required a bit of a larger nudge before the boy ran up to join his siblings, crashing into Fia's rear and landing in an adorable heap. Tony marched up somewhat courageously towards the new fae, extending out a paw to jab at her paw before running back to the safety of his mother, barking all the while. On the contrary, Fia and Lorenzo began a play-fight right where they'd crashed into each other, clearly disinterested in the black fae. "Oi! Entrambi te, staccare!" Ghita exclaimed, picking up Fia in one hand and Lorenzo in another. "Hanno le campate più piccola attenzione, giuro .... Volete tenere qualcuno?" Offering Fia towards Savina, she waited for her sister to either accept or decline the offer, Fia's frantically wagging tail giving her the appearance of hovering mid-air.

Savina knew all too well what it was like to wrangle a trio of playful pups. It was a tiring, yet ever-rewarding task. Her first litter hadn't been quite so rambunctious as her second; having Artemis around more than made up for whatever energy her other siblings lacked. The way that her sister nosed her little girl made Savina's smile broaden. It was so wonderful to see her sibling so happy, and there were few joys in this world that could rival new little babies. Ghita's words made her laugh, her dark head shaking from side to side. "Se ciò è vero gireremo tutto grigio prima delle nostre età." Artemis showed no signs of slowing and if they were just getting started on round two...well, the woman nearly shook at the thought. The pack was going to have its paws more than full looking after the two Marino girls.

The alphess was glad that her sister was pleased with her catch. It wasn't much, but it would serve as a nice little snack for the family. "Lei è più di dà il benvenuto. Sono contento che posso aiutarla fuori! Sono sicuro che non è molto paragonato a che Jazper porterà a casa, ma l'uscirà con la marea sopra fino ad allora almeno. Non sarei sorpreso se l'ha portato un cervo intero," she said with a chuckle. Even though she had railed on the pack's gentle giant after she had learned of Ghita's first pregnancy, the two really were quite perfect for one another and she knew that the Knight man would take good care of her sister. It was all Savina had ever wanted for Ghita: to be happy. Savina nuzzled her sister back, giving her a quick, affectionate lick while she was at it. She knew that her sibling wasn't one for such things, but on the rare moments she was the woman cherished the moment.

"Crescono lontano anche il digiuno, il gene gigantesco o no," she said with a sad smile. Her own littlest ones were no where near little anymore and had made it through their first shifts, now closer to adulthood than childhood. Denali had not shifted yet, but he was closer in age to Anu's boys than her own litter. Now that the newest Marinos were not held lovingly in their mothers arms, shyness took over. Ghita reintroduced her children and Savina nodded as her sister pointed them out. She remembered their birth, but of course they looked much different now then when they had been newborn. "Ciao Tony, Lorenzo e Fia! È così buono per incontrarla, ora che i suoi occhi e le orecchie sono aperti!" she said in a sing-song voice, hoping to make the three more comfortable with her.

Slowly the trio of pups approached until a small pileup occurred. Savina's green eyes watched Tony closely as he came close, poked at her paw, and then scrambled off barking back to his mother. Savina laughed heartily at the boy's antics, as well as the ensuing play fight. "I cuccioli saranno dei cuccioli!" Of course she was eager to get to know her little niece and she carefully took a hold of Fia by her scruff and set the girl down between her two forelegs and she sprawled herself out upon the bed. The Aunt gave Fia a soft lick to the top of her head, wanting to portray the fact that they were family and she was safe with the ebony woman.

Laughing at Savina's remarks, Ghita couldn't help but feel overwhelmed, even in this joyous moment, at just how energetic her three puppies were. Had she, Ehno, and Savina been that hyper when they were little? Ghita certainly got into more trouble, but she seemed to remember her mother as the slower one, and Ghita went at normal speed. Now Ghita was beginning to get a picture as to just why that was.

"Grazie lo stesso, Savi. Ha l'ambizione di cercare di portare a casa uno, ma spero che il senso di prendersela comoda." Even though Ghita laughed at the idea, part of her worried at how her mate might try and bring something large for the family. Jazper had always enjoyed being the provider of his family - she wouldn't put it past him to try and make some extravagant gesture for her and the pups. Stretching out on the bed, Ghita couldn't help but smile as her pups wiggled around their world, eager to explore the new scent and being that invaded their territory. It was always a good sign for pups to be curious about their surroundings, despite how annoying it might be for the mother to keep up with them. A pup who was too lethargic could be host to all sorts of diseases, least of which tiredness which could get a mother worried sick for nothing.

Happy to have her sister beside her in this moment, the agouti girl wasn't going through a very difficult time, but the ebony sister was always a relief to have around. They hadn't been as close when they'd lived in Italy - Ehno and Savina being the partners in crime, but with time, maturity, and a change of space a new relationship had budded between Ghita in her siblings - perhaps now more so since she was willing to sit still for longer than a few weeks, and put effort into the relationship. Even though Ghita wasn't terribly affectionate unless the situation called for it, she had been affectionate enough to land a happy mate, great relationships with her family, and two litters of pups surrounding her - so something was clearly working. Resting the top of her head against her sister's cheek for a longer moment, Ghita only broke when the pups demanded it, pulling back as Savina spoke again.

As the circle of life wore on, it stopped for no wolf nor any litter, and this was evident in all young ones that passed through Crimson Dreams. Sensing her sister's sorrow at this, the fae reached a hand out to her sister and grasped it, a smile gracing her lips. "Ma ora si arriva a passare a un nuovo punto della loro vita - è ugualmente prezioso come quello appena lasciato." Even the youngest of Savina's lot - Denali, was still old by pup standards, although Ghita would always think of her sister's children as just that - children. Even as they grew up, took on mates, and made families of their own, they would always be the happy, squirming pups Ghita remembered holding and playing with in their youth.

Beaming at how readily Savina welcomed her puppies into her heart, Ghita beamed as her trio approached Savina with mewling maws and tripping over the paws too large for their bodies. Their ensuing pile-up was adorable, but not altogether unexpected, having occurred several times before. Each of their individual personalities were growing, as Tony eagerly displayed. Offering Fia to Savina brought her sister joy, and evidently Fia as well, as the tiny girl looked up to her aunt. Stretching on her hind legs as soon as she was put down, the fae reached up a paw to bat at the rapidly retreating face before sticking her own tongue out in mimicry.

Holding Lorenzo close to her chest, she rubbed her thumb over the top of his cranium, a gesture that caused his eyes to half-close in relaxation. Letting out a sigh of contentment, Ghita couldn't imagine ever giving this up - even if her nomadic nature had to be put to rest for ever. "Sembra quasi un po 'come Amata, no?" Both daughters had pelts of light colours and accents of varying degrees - and however their personalities differed, the appearances still told of familial ties.

Savina also did not remember being a burden on their mother, but she doubted most adults would think that they had put a strain on their parents. When she thought back though, she felt that they had all been fairly well behaved. Of course they would get into small troubles, as all pups would, but she didn't remember anything too serious to have caused Amata Marino stress. Now, being a mother herself though, she knew that no pups thought that they were doing anything that was dangerous. Artemis certainly was that way, never seeing what was wrong with the things she wanted to do. She did worry about her silver daughter terribly sometimes, hopefully Fia would not be quite so...adventurous. "Non so, una volta Jazz mette la sua mente a qualcosa, il senso sembra essere una cosa del passato." Despite her sister's nonchalance about her mate's ambitions, Savina knew that she likely worried about him a little. "Sono sicuro che non farà niente troppo stupido nonostante," she said, playfully nudging Ghita with a charcoal paw.

The woman was glad that her relationship with her sister had taken a positive turn since her latest return to Crimson Dreams. They hadn't been particularly distant before, but they certainly hadn't been as close as they were now. It was strange how things could change. She and Ehno had hit an awful rough patch, which she never would have expected to happen. Things were better now, their relationship mended, but there had been a stretch of time where Savina had wondered if she and her brother would ever be close again. Fate seemed to like to play little games of cat and mouse with the Marino family. They would give them awful troubles only to allow them to mend themselves back together once again. Hopefully it would be a long time, if ever, before turmoil would rock the close-knit family again.

The Italian woman smiled more genuinely as her sister took her paw and offered her some words of comfort. She nodded her head, knowing the words were true. Every stage of life was precious and held wonderful events to look forward to. Still, it did not make watching your babies grow up much easier though. "Lei hanno ragione, certo. Desidero appena che starebbero più piccolo più lungo," she said wistfully. Ghita would know what she meant, as any mother would. She missed having her pups curled up next to her at night, she missed holding them as she used to when they were little. She couldn't do any of those things anymore. It almost made her want to try for another litter, but Savina knew that she needed a rest. Little paws running around were absolutely wonderful, but she had just regained time to pursue her own hobbies again and deep down she knew she wasn't ready to give that back up yet.

The Marino had never had any issues readily accepting her sibling's children into her heart as her closest kin. True, in theory Ehno's litter had been hard to swallow, but once she had actually met the four pups she hadn't had a single issue keep her from enjoying being around them and playing with them. Savina had always loved pups, even when they were not her own. It was next to impossible to not feel all warm and fuzzy when you had those little roly poly balls of fur around. Fia batted up at her nose and missed, but the aunt quickly returned her face to the little girl's level, more than willing to let herself be pawed at and poked. "Sì, fa." Savina hoped her own light colored daughter was faring well. "Fiduciosamente ritornerà alle terre di pacco per spuntare l'inverno. Penso che abbia preso alcuno dell'Ehno ed il vostro istinto errante." She gave her sister a meaningful look before turning her attention back to her niece.

Ghita never did have it easy with her wandering spirit - it could grow to almost consume her at the worst points. And because of that, the fae unfortunately didn't make some of the deeper connections that Savina and Ehno had made in their youth. It didn't mean that Ghita didn't love her siblings and mother as much, but only that she hadn't been around enough to form the bonds that went above and beyond family. Of course, that was too late for her and Amata Marino, but Ghita tried to take solace in that Amata knew that Ghita loved her - it just wasn't her style to show it. Even now, as she had grown closer to Savina than ever before, being affectionate physically wasn't on the top of her list of priorities - even with Jazper. But of course, with any good rule, it was meant to be broken, and this showed now as Ghita tolerated - and even sought out - physical contact with her sister.

Letting her bell-like laugh reverberate around the room, the timber fae knew that her mate was guilty as charged - the ambitious male was quite the family man, and when these two traits were combined, there didn't seem to be enough room left over for common sense. Even though she knew that Jazper wouldn't seek out danger - it wasn't his style - she still worried that trouble would find him, and leave Ghita with five children to raise on her own. "Mi piacerebbe pensare che conosce abbastanza per tenersi fuori dai guai - noi gli darò un inferno troppo al suo ritorno!" Affectionately thinking back to the time that Jazper first asked Ghita to be his mate, Savina's anger at the perceived situation couldn't help but surface - but of course was pacified after the mateship was accepted. Ghita and Jazper hadn't been trying for pups, mateship wasn't even on the mind, but their drunken night had blossomed into almost a perfect mateship, save for the rocky start.

As Savina mulled over the at time tumultuous luck of the Marinos, Ghita focused her mind onto the pups that were scampering on the bed. Tony had begun to latch onto her tail, and so she twitched the muscle from time to time, not minding the pain that lanced through occasionally, due to needle-like puppy teeth. As long as her burly son was out of trouble, she didn't mind - and her tail was well away from the edge of the bed, preventing a tumble. Lorenzo pressed his cold nose into the crook of her knee from where he sat on her lap, tired mismatched eyes seeking shelter for his prolonged nap. And of course, her bi-coloured daughter was focused intently on the ebony aunt, intelligent turquoise eyes blinking up at Savina with a gaze that could be seen in Ghita just as much. "Fia, si comportano ..." She warned with a light tone, but raising an eyebrow all the same. Glancing back at her mother, the child in question gave a toothy smile, looking a bit too innocent before Savina caught her attention once more.

Nodding sagely, Ghita could relate with her previous litter, Aro and Sophia, as they had struck out into the world on their own already. "Conosco la sensibilità." Ghita murmured, thinking back to her tuxedoed son which caused her anguish. Striking out into the large space of Nova Scotia barely as an adult caused her worry - even though secretly, she was proud of him. Still, she didn't know where he was or how he fared - she could only hope that the large, sometime cruel world was treating her son with the kindness she knew it could hold. "Mi preoccupo per Aro, Savi. Egli non ha mandato a dire da quando i cuccioli erano nati." Letting her sister know her son's situation felt like a weight was beginning to lift - at least she didn't have to suffer in silence any more.

Smiling at her sister's interaction with Fia, she let a slender finger stroke Lorenzo's pelt as his small chest rose and fell in slumber. Tony had since grown tired of playing with her tail, and was beginning to show signs of needing his fix of mischief, approaching his sister from behind until he pounced, letting the two tumble around on the soft pelts. The smile faded after Savina hinted at Amata's whereabouts, another kin of hers that was missing in action. Especially at Savina's accusatory sentence, mentioning the wanderlust, her ears fell, wishing all the best for her ivory niece. "Sarà bene - lei è gentile, ma forte." Unable to help giving a guilty look to her older sister, their interaction was halted only by Tony running from his sister, right into Savina's knee, tumbling into her lap.
