Dirt covered her paws and claws, it was cold and hard with frost. But the Sun was shining, warming her back as she crouched in the garden. The plants were all pulled, as best she could in preparation of summer. Next season she would not let it all get away from her, she would start early and keep up with the weeding and planting. Her garden would be something to be proud of, and something for everyone to enjoy. Her boys were grown, almost leaving the new puppy rank of Pusio and on their way to changing their shape along with their rank. Anu was certain that it would happen for them at any time, but she worried for Alder. He had laid out at the edge of the garden for most of the morning, waiting for her to finish so that they could patrol the borders together. But the mother had shooed him away, telling him to go off on his own just as he hated to do so. He had stalked off with his tail between his legs, and Anu had to get a hard eye on his face to get him to run off and be on his own.

She brushed her hands against her legs, thoughts roaming from her masked son to her two others. Anu had faith in them, and a confidence that she hated to admit she lacked in Alder. They were strong in body and mind and they had a bravery that the biggest of their litter lacked as well. They would rise to the top of their ranks, gain responsibility and without any pushing from their mother. She loved them each dearly, and though she pressured him to be independent Anu loved her shadow of a son and his devotion. Blue eyes even looked for his round and slightly shaggy figure at the edge of the garden, and she exhaled deeply when he was not there. Eyes glanced at the empty flowerbeds, the soil sparse and tucked in for a snowy season.

Sorry Im late :o <3

The lanky youth finally felt it was time. He had been practicing, hoping for the chance to surprise his mother with what he could do. He didn't want to still be clumsy and wobbly on his legs when she first saw. He didn't want anyone to see him in that awkward stage when he had to learn how to walk all over again.

Still in form he had been born in, Cypress sought her out. His mother was never too difficult to find. Finding her alone though was quite the trick since Alder seemed to follow her like a constant shadow. It was no surprise to find her out in the garden. Doing his very best to stay out of her sight as he surveyed around for either of his brothers. Delighted to find that appeared they were the only ones out in the gardens he found a decent hiding spot for his shift.

Even though he had been practicing it took the boy a few minutes to complete the change. Carefully he stood up on two feet. He felt nervous and his balance not so steady as he took his first few steps towards his mother. Each step was easier, as he tried to stalk up unnoticed. "Momma?" his voice nervous as he reached out fingers gripping a small clump of his mothers fur and giving it a gentle tug.

Oak should still join ^^

Her thoughts were deep, and the world paused for a prolonged moment. She could hardly find the path of ideas that trailed through her mind, her mind was so normally clear and concise it was hard for her to be this confused. It reminded her of a lover affair, the layers and the complications. But this was far more important, and as thick as the blood that connected her to the son she worried for her reserve became. Action needed to be taken.

The voice came only after the touch, the memory of hearing it recalled so quickly she believed that he spoke after grasping her fur. The elder Dreamer turned to see a face that almost didn’t match the voice of her son. His body did not match at all, and she looked him up and down. There was no shock as if she saw a stranger, but she was still surprised. Cypress stood before her, taller then she as Anu stood to her full height and looked up into the match blue eyes she owned.

Cypress. She said, her voice thick with the surprise. She smiled, and touched his arm. His patterns were not much different, and yet she was still in need of the small touch, an inhale of his scent; all to remind her that he was indeed her Cypress. Your so handsome She spoke, trying to keep the tears that she felt from coming to her eyes.

He felt so very, very nervous as he waited to see his mother's reaction to this new form. No one else had yet seen the young boy in any form but the one he had been born in. Something he had hoped, and managed, to save just for her. Fingers falling away from her fur, they began to knot together with the digits of his other hand as he held his breath waiting for her to turn. So nervous he just couldn't help but fidgit. Time having come to a complete stop in the view of the anxious youth. Seconds seeming like hours.

He could only smile as she looked over his new, taller form. He was taller than his mother, but he was sure his brothers would tower over him, just as they already did. He could feel the warmth of a blush creeping to his face at her words. His eyes fell to the ground for a moment in his slight embarassment. "I wanted you to be the first to see." The words came slightly mumbled, his gaze still cast down at the ground. Looking back to her blue eyes, the same blue eyes she had given him. His actions were still a bit clumsy, but he gently grabbed hold of her pulling her into a hug. "I love you, momma." He whispered in her ear, giving her a squeeze. For days he had waited. Waiting for the perfect time for this tender moment alone with his mother.

sorry about the wait.

For the past several days since becoming aware of his new ability, Oak had been fiddling with it sporadically - but always when he was alone. Taking to his Optime form was something he wanted to master fully before letting others see. The day before, he had achieved the shift and walked shakily on two legs, but it felt so uncomfortable that he returned to his canid form in a matter of moments. Sometimes he wondered what real use their was in standing like a human, when he could run so freely and naturally on four legs. Even opposible thumbs seemed overrated to him.

He had spent an hour playing with mice, chasing a number of the poor little creatures into their holes, but never actually killing any. He hadn't the heart to take the life of such an innocent thing. When he was done with his games, the rust-furred boy crossed the field. He spied two figures in the gardens, standing close. Recognizing his brother and mother in the midst of an embrace, he paused, uncertain. To his surprise, it was not Alder who held Anu, but Cypress. Oak wished that he could turn and go without being seen, afraid of ruining their special moment. But he had come too close, and there was no way that they had not detected his presence. Guilt weighed heavily on him as he approached the gardens, moving slowly and deliberately in hopes of prolonging their time together. All too soon, his paws hit the hard, cold dirt of the garden, and it was then that he spoke softly to them. Cypress, Momma.

Anu had met each of her son's stepping stones with a small amount of insecurity. Their birth had been a emotional time, and as they grew she found that her worrying did not stop. But she knew that forever she would wish for the best for each of them. Alder took up so much of her attention, as she worried for him the most. It was nice to have some time with Cypress, to lavish compliments and to see that he had come to adulthood without fail. He hugged her and she hugged him back with a squeeze. I'm always so proud of you. She whispered back to him, the love in her voice as apparent as winter's cold.

Anu stepped back, her cheeks lightly moistened by stray tears and when she heard his voice her eyes looked to the face of her brick hued boy. Her emotions were still very unruly and she knelt down to bring her arms around the neck of the large wolf with another tight squeeze. Oak. She said, her nose touching his forehead in the normal motion that the mother gave to each of her children when she saw them. It brought his scent back to her, making his presence ever so real. You boys are growing so fast. She said, looking up to the two legged wolf and then back to the burly red male. It was true, though neither were as large as Alder they were still far bigger then she and it was hard for her not to think of them as the small creatures that had fit in the palms of her hands.

It was one of the moment he had longed for. To be able to wrap his arms around his mother in a hug. His nose buried deep in her fur he gave her another firm yet gentle squeeze before letting go. His brows furrowed slightly at the sight of the tears that stained her cheeks and though he wished to brush them away he lacked the confidence. His fingers were still clumsy things. Before he could do or say anything more he heard someone approach and familiar voice. Cypress felt his chest tense and the warm glow of anger that was so quick to build there as of late.

Looking towards his rust-hued brother, his blue eyes couldn't hide the contempt he felt at the intrusion and quickly turned to look in another direction as he tried to quell such feelings. Had she known the burning feeling in his chest, his mother would not have been proud of him at all. "Uh hi, Oak," he said meekly. Finding face before Anu turned to look at him again. It wasn't fair to Oak for him to feel as he did, for he had done nothing to deserve it. It was Alder that horded their mother's time and presence. When he could at least meet his eye again, he gave the larger sibling an apologetic smile. At least he hoped it was.

When his mother's arms encircled his thick, coarse-furred neck, Oak felt undeserving and his muscles tensed against her touch. He didn't move away, too pleased by the warmth her expression of affection gave him. He craved it so deeply, even though he was no longer a small boy. Nothing quite compared to the comfort he felt when his mother held him like that. Oak relished the embrace and was soothed by it, but at the same time he felt that it belonged to Cypress, and his face was blank and empty until her arms relinquished him. As she pulled away, he sighed softly and allowed a small smile to creep across his lips.

She spoke of their growth and Oak wondered what it felt like to see himself and his brothers through her eyes. He couldn't imagine it, and perhaps the unnamed emotion in his mother's face when she looked at each of them was something he wasn't meant to understand, yet. He tilted his gaze toward Cypress, who had greeted him in a small tone. It was proof that Oak had upset his brother by coming, and he regretted it even more deeply after hearing his brother's voice. I wanted to say hello. was all he could think to say, knowing that no words could dismiss his interruption.

def want threads with you two! since Alder left Wink

Anu did not feel that the moment between she and Cypress was broken or even disrupted by Oak's presence. Their world did not orbit around moments between two wolves, it was not about the individuals but the group as a whole. It was only their nature to wish for the pack to be together, and Anu was no different. She wanted her litter to be united as often as possible, and was happy as always to see Oak. She ignored the small voice that greeted his brother, and she looked at the red tinted male who did not seem himself. She did not know or understand the concept of fighting for her attention. They were missing Alder, but Anu was glad to had two out of her three sons with her.

Winter will be on us soon. We should go for a hunt soon, get some practice in before there is too much snow. The mother knew she was not the most skilled huntress, but she was practiced and knew how to teach others the tricks that would score them a doe or buck. She looked to the boys, wondering what they thought about the idea.
