Layla was still set on her plan of going to the Inferni borders and speaking to the leaders about her plan, but her depression was still holding her back. Even though she couldn’t go through with it, she did find herself hanging around close to the Inferni pack’s land. Most of the time she wanted to venture towards them, but she always shook the idea out of her head and went back home. Her hair hung at her sides as she stared out of the window of her home. Her ears were folded down and her tail hung gently behind her. She continued to stare and hoped that today was going to be a good day.

Layla felt more like being in her natural form this day and had her paws up to help her look out. Finally after her staring contest with the world, she moved back down to the floor and headed downstairs. The mistress took slow and steady steps and stared at the door. She wanted to go out but it felt like she was being held back again. It was like she was trapped in the insanity of her mind and there was no escape. After what seemed like hours of waiting, the mistress dashed out of the door and out into the woods. The afternoon sun hung high in the sky as she padded along. She had escaped but what now? The black and white she wolf turned to the direction of Inferni and raced towards it. This was going to be the day she finally went closer if not right up to the borders.

Layla had reached the waste, the edge part of the pack’s territory. She was feeling pulled back again and hated this feeling. She did it once and she could do it again. The mistress forced her legs forward and to the borders. She was unsure of what would happen, but she was prepared to run if anything went wrong.

The jackal had left Clover and gone to find himself a meal. He did not hunt large animals—he was physically incapable of killing a deer of anything like that by himself. Enkiel admired his uncles size and wondered often what it would have been like to be so large, but knew it would never be. With his poncho covering his chest and most of his torso, the golden and black streaked jackal was a brown, no-color wool figure moving amongst the waste.

He spotted the rabbit from afar, and had begun moving towards it slowly. Unfortunately for him, the wind turned suddenly and the rabbit fled. With a growl, the jackal swallowed his frustration and began moving south. Maybe he’d have easier pickings on the beach. He was surprised to spot a strange figure on the borders, a black and white shape he did not recognize.

Wolf. Almost instantly the boy’s demeanor changed, and his red eyes darkened. Enkiel walked towards her, his head high, every bit the walk of the prince he believed himself to be. “What are you doing here?” He demanded, deep voice holding only the hint of aggression in it.

Layla had no idea why she was even bothering to go to the Inferni borders. She was still not in the best mood to deal with any of their members, but she hoped she would catch one in a good mood. The mistress fixed up her hair as she continued along. She didn’t want to look like a mess and instead wanted to try and make a good impression of herself. She knew that if she made a wrong move then it would screw up relations with Inferni forever. The black and white she wolf looked along the borders to all the skulls. She remembered theses from the first time she met up with Tsukiko. It was a horrifying sight and made her stomach drop. She couldn’t shake the terrible feeling and backed away. It wasn’t helping much but it was a small improvement.

After a while, Layla caught the scent of someone coming towards her, someone from the inside of the Inferni territory. She lowered her tail between her legs submissively and folded her ears down. The mistress didn’t think she was actually going to run into anyone while she was exploring. Her depression and nervousness grabbed hold of her again and forced her to back away even further. The black and white she wolf tried to make herself as harmless as possible. She waited to see who was coming towards her. Out of the shadows came a smaller member. He had tan fur and black on parts of his face. He didn’t seem too threatening, but she could hear the annoyance in his voice about her being there. The she wolf didn’t want to annoy him anymore so she lowered her head and explained herself. ”I’m sorry if I am trespassing… I… I was just passing by…” How could she explain to him that she wanted to speak to his alpha? She didn’t even think she would be able to do it because of her lack of will to. She gave a soft sigh before waiting on the male to respond.

For all the confidence that Enkiel displayed, it seemed as if the wolf had none. She turned inward, looked down and tried to make herself invisible. The jackal eyed the dressed woman coolly, finding her clothing odd but sensible. He remained still as he watched her, his eyes focused on her face.

“For passing by, you certainly are lingering,” he commented. The aggression had faded. It did not suit him to show such emotions. His ability to remain calm was the only thing that would make his role as a healer useful. Likewise, he had no need to get involved in border skirmishes with his lack of fighting experience—though this woman hardly seemed like a threat.

Layla knew that the male she met here at the Inferni borders was curious about her and what she was doing here, but she was fighting with herself on what to do. Part of her wanted to rush back home to her mate’s arms and the other part of her wanted to stay here and explain why she was here. She hadn’t realized that Saluce had already told someone from Inferni about what happened to her, but she felt that she had to tell someone herself. The mistress turned her posture towards the jackal, but still couldn’t provide the confidence he was looking for. She was still drowning in her depression and she was only wandering around to try and get the feeling out of her head. She gave a soft sigh before turning her attention back to the male.

Layla moved her ears as she heard him speak again. She was still hesistant on telling him why she was really there. She searched her head for an excuse to use so that he wouldn’t be upset with her being there. She lowered her ears and looked around. ”I was just looking for some herbs… I was running short on some back home… I thought there might be some growing around here…” The mistress hoped this was convincing enough for the male to allow her to continue wandering around the borders. She knew he wouldn’t want her to stay too long and she didn’t plan to. She just wanted to make it seem like she was really here to look for some herbs and then head home. Her eyes scanned around for any sign of some herbs. So far she wasn’t having any luck of proving her story of why she was there. The idea of going back home was sounding better than hanging around.
