The Reason for the Season

Huddle up guys!, listen we got a herd of white tail deer, hungry mouths to feed, and hard ground until the heat of the day melts the snow and frozen ground. Do it typical 3 wolves herding them into two in wait to spring the trap. READY GO! Btw this takes place very early on the morning of 12/5/2010, also took into account the weather currently in halifax.

December came and the winters first real snow fall was already here. Sure they had experienced snow already, slushy mixes and everything else associated with the weather trying to make its mind up. The last few days had been exceedingly cold now it had warmed up with the coming of a new weather system. Cold breathe snorted out of the male’s nose, standing regally in his lupus form, eyes surveying the ground, while his nose tasted the air. Saluce had been tracking a herd of white tail along their borders for the past couple of days. His lips almost salivated at the prospect of a successful hunt.

For a brief moment his eyes looked to the sky uncertain of the weather pattern. Head cocked quietly to the side as if trying to judge what it would do. The weather in Nova Scotia was odd to him, snow during the night, rain during the day, would make a muddy mess of them if this snow even melted with rain later in the day. The hunting season though was already burning through him, his legs ached to hunt, and winter ushered in their time, the time of the predator. Scare food for grazing animals made them weak, made them much easier to kill. The behemoth really looked forward to this time of year. Now though he had two youngsters to bring along, as well as his mate and their alpha. Today would be Gideon and Saul’s final step toward becoming adults. After today if they succeeded he’d regard them as equals in the pack as far as it’s protection and peace keeping efforts go. It was time for the two boys to grow up into the new generation.

For a brief moment his head took it’s time with the decision, the herd was quickly moving around, in the middle of the rutt, and with little moonlight last night they were waiting for the light amount of sunlight that would break through the overcast sky to graze, until bedding down for the rest of the day. If he waited calling his pack mates, he would risk the snow melting, along with the deer disappearing into their safe havens. No it was now or never, they better be awake because the hunt was on.

The long muzzle of the grey wolf tilted to the sky, letting out a long bass filled howl full of excitement to herald the beginnings of the hunt. Those who knew about the hunt where expected to be ready for his call. Again after finishing his long howl to make sure they were up he howled again announcing the urgency of this call. Time would not allow much deliberation or for sleepy lazy wolves to eat.

Yay! WC: 333 {3 points}

Layla woke up that morning to the blanket of white on the window. There was snow outside and in the air. Winter was fully here and it was time for the chill to settle in. The mistress crawled out of bed and moved over to the window, staring outside at the snow on the ground. This was the last thin that she wanted. The black and white she wolf let out a soft sign before moving downstairs. She didn’t want to get her clothes covered in snow and her thick fur would be more than enough to protect her from the chill. The female searched around for her mate but didn’t see him. The behemoth must have left to go to his shop and begin his work. She knew he was working on her sword and she didn’t want to disturb him. She moved towards the door and headed out into the snow covered land.

Layla moved around at the snow and still carried herself heavily, but she was a bit more higher in her spirit than she was before. She tried to be happy and jumped along in the snow. It was helping but it was not exactly all that she needed. She noticed a bit of mud piling up on her feet. The mistress gave another sigh and began to wander around the pack lands. Perhaps if she just wandered around then she would be able to find something to do. The black and white she wolf paused when she heard the howl. The black and white she wolf jogged along until she noticed her mate in the distance. She raced over to the behemoth and rubbed against his side. She didn’t want to spook him but was curious about what he was doing all the way out here.

Layla looked ahead to see the pack of deer. So that’s what he was doing. The mistress stood at her mate’s side and gave him a gentle nuzzle. ”Hunting some deer love? I take it you’ll need some help. Do you mind if I help?”

ooc;; yaaay man-hood for my baby! hehe

Saul's paw was still hurting and the bandage had remained a constant accessory to the young male in the few days since his total freak out and subsequent flight from Dahlia de Mai. He had returned of course, all bandaged and in no pain due to the natural herbs he had taken close to the borders of Phoenix Valley. But they had worn off quickly and the young male hadn't know where to look in Dahlia to find these drugs again. So his paw had become alive once more and the flaring pain had been with him ever since. It was this morning that he remembered his conversation with Nayru almost two months ago. She had told him that she lived in a greenhouse, so maybe she would have something to numb the pain of a healing paw. Still, the young stormbringer male knew what this morning was. He'd been told about it a while ago.

Working in Saluce's shop a couple afternoons a week had taught Saul more than a few basic training techniques. It had also taught him a lot about making weapons and other things for the pack, how to tend a fire, how to heat up and cool down the metal in the right way so it didnt shatter. He already knew how to keep neat and tidy, so Saluce's shop had practically been transformed in his perfectionist manner- each artifact having its right and proper place that Saul would return them to when he came by to help the grey wolf out. It was the price he paid for training in combat, but he enjoyed his price. In fact, he rather enjoyed the price a lot more than the training, which was testiment to his calmer nature. So when Saluce had mentioned, in passing, a pack hunt, Saul had been up for it.

Tsukiko demanded a lot of his attention, even when he wasnt with her or wasnt going to see her. Setsuna hunted small things for her, but she apparently had never been taught how to hunt. He had offered his services happily to the japanese girl, only wishing to help a friend out. So he hunted for her at least four times a week, in between helping Saluce out and trying to work out how to read, write, ride a horse and his newest skill- wood carving. The day before he had ventured out to the Ethereal Eclipse region to try and find Skye. He hadnt seen her in a while and had decided they needed another lesson. He met, instead, her leader, Shawchert. He had taught him a little about whittling wood with a knife and Saul had picked it up easily. Of course, there was a lot to learn in that area.

His morning run was short today, his bath just a quick dip of his toes in the spring before he called it a day. He's taken a lap around the woods, hoping today he would not run into the bear that had chased himself and Gideon a while ago. He was lucky, but the snow bit his paws in earnest and his breath hung white in the air around him. It was then that he heard Saluce's howl and with a smile he detected a flash of excitement in the voice. For a moment Saul thought back to his days watching other loners hunt together for once- how the one to start would always howl low to the ground to make it seem as though they were further away than they actually were. Saluce should have buried his muzzle in the snow before howling- they still would have heard him. It was almost a straight beeline from his current position to that of his teacher and Saul made it there quickly and efficiently, as always.

"Morning Saluce. Morning Miss Layla"

He offered the couple as they waited there for the rest of their party. Gideon would be coming and that always made the Stormbringer male excited. He was told that Conor would be here and Saul hoped he would be in a better mood than when he last saw him. A smile was offered to the grey man and his black and white lady before green eyes turned to survey their prey.

He was still considering the move, waiting for the pups to become a little more independent before he made the final decision. Gideon was spending a lot of time in the eastern parts of the territory, learning it a little bit better and trying to choose a good place to live. He had been meaning to go and visit Nayru, but she hadn't been home the times that he had tried to visit her so far. He took it to mean that she was busy doing other things...pack duties, taking time to herself...because she couldn't know that he had been looking for her.

He had been sitting inside the mansion for around an hour, having woken up early to wait for the call from Saluce. He remembered that today was the day that they were going to hunt. His feet itched to head East and look for Nayru again, but he fought the urge and waited in silence in the main living room. He'd done so much waiting, though, that he soon found himself falling into a slumber. Saluce's howl was barely enough to wake the male up but it did, and he began to head drowsily out toward where the others were gathered.

Gideon gave a yawn as he approached, breath coming out from his muzzle in light misty puffs. He greeted the others with a smile and plopped his rear end down into the snow. He hadn't figured out how to shift back down into lupus form and preferred to stand tall anyway, so he opted to stay in his optime form for this hunt. "Hey guys" He said, covering another yawn.

James you lazy boy

Layla was the first to arrive and her presence was accepted but still there hang that cloud over him toward her. He went through the motions of greeting her, a soft nuzzle back as she spoke. His ears listened as his eyes looked out along the meadow and line of trees. If enough showed up they could easily make a feast out of a big buck or doe, and not waste much. Hot breathe misted the air as it flew out of his nose then before the arrival of his pupil Saul.

As always Saul was prepared, even though his head rotated sideways, still noticing the pronounced little limp he carried because of his injured paw. Saluce greeted him as any higher ranking wolf would before letting a small smirk cross his lips in acceptance of his arrival. One more would show this morning, Conor was busy today, or else he would have shown up already. It pained him to not have him along, another experienced male would have helped him but it seemed like he would have to play drill sergeant all alone. Time was running out though and they didn’t have much time to wait, the deer were already getting nervous, knowing something was up, luckily they were still downwind but that could change if the wind changed as often as the weather went from rain to snow here.

Then at last his eyes fell on the last of their band. Those blue orbs swelled in a show of anger at Gideon’s chosen form and his inactivity. This wouldn’t do, he wasn’t prepared nor was he awake enough to be any use to him at the moment and his displeasure was shown rather plainly across his face. Saluce knew the boy had taken in strays, but he wasn’t a mother, he was a male, and this was part of learning that side of his affinity for care giving as well.

“Gideon… how do you intend to chase down a deer in that form?” was his only remark, Saluce was keeping his distaste to a slight minimum. He felt disrespected at his appearance, he had invited him and he had expectations for him to meet. The behemoth almost snarled and turned him away but his ears swiveled back toward the deer and their movements. They were on the move and time for such activities pertaining to ones preparedness would have to wait.

“Layla take Saul, you two will be fast enough to herd and run them toward us. Gideon, do not… let me down.” Was his warning to the youth, he could still prove himself, and he was very aware of how dangerous this could become for the less experienced.

Once Layla and Saul had left his gaze turned to the youth “Follow my lead, if you’re going to be in that terrible form for this then when I go in, use your strength to help keep those antlers away from any of us.” It was a simple request, if he used his form right he could be vindicated. The orders given, Saluce stalked along in front of the herd hidden waiting for the ambush.

ooc;; sorry fy'ra, just wanted to get this post out of the way!

The snow had muffled all of their pawsteps but it was a red light to their prints. They could move like ghosts over the compact white powder, but there was always going to be the small imprint of where they had been. So there was a beeline in the snow where Saul had trotted into the area and now it stopped where the timber male had sat. Green eyes sought the blue ones of his teacher and Saul felt a certain pride in the grey behemoth. He was proud that he was Saluce's pupil and he had come to depend on the grey males solidarity. He smiled at his teacher, tail flickering softly back and forward and obliterating the marks that he had left behind. Neither of the two replied to his greeting but he didnt really care about that. They were busy adults, preoccupied by the coming hunt. They just need Gideon to turn up and they would be set.

As if on cue, the dark form of his younger brother moved over the snow, stark against the white powder. Surprisingly, Gideon did not look ready for action. His shoulders drooped as though he had been asleep and almost as soon as he arrived he sat down. A soft snort escaped Saul as he looked at his brother. He was such an old man. Of course, being an old man was not going to help them succeed in this hunt. Saluce picked up on this fact almost straight away. Saul was immediatly torn between his protectiveness to his brother and his loyalty to his teacher. He wanted to defend his brother- remind Saluce that his brother had children to look after. But he couldnt help but agree with the grey male on this. Gideon should be more prepared. So instead, he said nothing.

His paw was healing, which would certainly benefit him on this divergance. But none the less he was glad when he was given his orders to chase the deer instead of bring them down. He could run perfectly fine but should be put any real power behind his paws then it would twinge and he would fall. Running and spooking the deer was a much easier job than bringing the deer down, as was his brothers job. Concentration had taken over and instead of actually answering his teachers instructions he gave the grey blacksmith a hard nod of acknowledgement. With a glance towards the black and white woman, Saul checked that she was coming and took off. He faintly heard Saluce say something else but he was too far away to hear it. And anyway, his mind was beginning to clear itself and his mind was set on his mission. He snaked around the left side of the dear, letting one or two see him. It created fear and almost immediatly bleats were heard in the herd. They would be moving soon- Layla needed to herd them from the other side and their attempt would be successful, that was for sure.

Layla felt her love nuzzle her as she arrived. She loved her mate dearly, but felt deep inside her that something was wrong. It was like she had a hunch and that something bad was going to happen between them. The mistress folded her ears down as she rubbed lovingly against him. She just wanted to show him how much she still loved him and that she still wanted to be with him. For some reason she felt like their love was fading and there was nothing left for them. She hated the feeling and wanted to do something about it. The black and white she wolf let out a soft sign before waiting to see who else was coming.

Layla watched as the next male appeared. He was smaller than her and Saluce, not to mention he didn’t even look like he was an adult yet. Were these really the kind of pack mates her love wanted to use to help hunt? She was beginning to question the behemoth’s judgment and wondered what was going on. The mistress moved over to greet the male and lowered her head to show her respect. She may have been a higher rank than he was, but that was no reason not to show her members some respect. The black and white she wolf then moved back to her mate’s side. She knew there had to be at least one more showing up. Four seemed like the perfect number for taking down a large animal such as this one.

Layla was happy to see that Gideon was the last one to arrive. The she wolf seemed to be growing closer to the black male, in a friendly way of course. The mistress fought back her depressed mood for the moment and then went back to her cheerful mood. She padded over to Gideon and tried to smile. ”It’s good to see you Gideon. Are you feeling alright?” She could tell he was tired, but she couldn’t understand why. The black and white she wolf didn’t know about the pups that the male had taken into his care. She then moved her ears when she heard her mate’s comment to him. She felt her ears fold down and turned her head to him, giving him an unpleasant look. She didn’t like how her love was treating her close friend. The she wolf turned back to Gideon and tried to smile again. ”Just try to ignore him Gideon… I’m sure he doesn’t mean to be mean…”

Layla moved back to the group as Saluce ordered her to take Saul and lead the herd towards him and Gideon. Before she could get a word out, Saul was off. The mistress chased after him and cut in front of him. She stood tall over him and made sure he was stopped before they continued on. ”What are you trying to do? Scare the prey away? You have to move slowly and quietly if you want to be successful.” She showed him how to stalk until they were to one side of the herd. She asked Saul to stay here and wait for her to get around and start the attack. She snuck around to the other side and then began to charge at them. With Saul’s help, she would be able to lead a couple back to the behemoth and Gideon.

"I got up extra early to wait for his call..but I guess I fell back asleep. And I'm stuck in this form...I can't shift back down. I've tried." He explained to Layla, hopefully loud enough for Saluce to hear as well. He frowned at the male but didn't say anything. Gideon had nothing but good intentions on this morning, and he didn't take well to Saluce's grumpy, old man attitude.

It seemed as if Layla and Saul were going to scare the deer toward them. Gideon understood this and followed Saluce as he had asked, grumbling under his breath. He wasn't a pup any more, he knew how to frickin hunt. Gideon did as Saluce did, waiting for the others to get the creatures near enough to them for them to attack.

Saluce recognized all of their distaste for his treatment of Gideon. But His treatment wasn’t without meaning. Intentions where great but that’s just what they where intentions, action is what he wanted.

As he crept along with Gideon in tow his mind wandered a bit toward Gideon’s quandary. The both couldn’t shift back? Ugh he may have to teach him that, it wouldn’t be very easy to move along the terrain and hunt small game unless he learned how to hunt with spear and bow. As they crept along in hiding his eyes watching the herd his ears perked a bit before he spoke to Gideon.

“Gideon, this is your time. The meaning behind this hunt is more for you and your brother. Conor and I can’t fulfill the duties of protecting and keeping the peace alone. We have Bris as well as Layla, to help but you two are both very promising young males who will soon be adults.” Was all he said at the moment as he continued to walk along the tree line, finding a suitable ambush site, the open meadow narrowed into a thin strip among the trees. If herded right they would be funneled here and could be easily overtaken by the big males laying in wait.

“These aren’t rabbits or other small game, their antlers can maim, their hooves can crush skulls. Pick out the weakest looking doe you find” he said in a general tone, the behemoth at least now wasn’t being condescending to him. Saluce already had in mind which one he would be after, but wanted to see how Gideon’s instincts where.

His appearance to the deer had had the desired effect- the few that had bleated of danger were trying to push through the herd to get away from the timber wolf that was amoung them. Those few bleats had begun to spread arounbd the herd and mothers were calling their babies to their sides with abandon. If anything was going to drive these beasts towards Saluce and Gideon it was revealing oneself to them. Green eyes watched as the stag of the ground swung his head backward, impressive antlers heavy on its head. It sniffed the air, showing the whites of its eyes as it just about managed to capture Saul's scent. The bellow that came from the brute was something that Saul gave a soft smile to- his actions would be in motion now.

A black and white form cut in front of him as he was about to give chase. Anger rose up in the young boy paramount to nothing he had ever felt before. She obviously hadn't been listening to what her mate had been saying when he set the two of them to herd the deer in their direction. Was she stupid or something? Had her ears been so full of Saluce's grey hair as she had continuously rubbed herself against him that she had not heard these instructions? Though anger was a very rare emotion for the young boy he could feel it welling deep within him now. He was not a child and in fact hated it when an adult thought of his as stupid. It was she that had not listened, she who was getting it wrong now. Taking a deep breath Saul allowed green eyes to find blue.

"Miss Layla- how do you suppose we herd the deer towards Saluce and Gideon if they cannot see us? How to you suppose we scare them into running in the right direction if all we are doing is stalking? Perhaps you should have listened when Saluce asked us to scare them his way."

Though trying to keep a calm head about him Saul stared deep into Layla's eyes before turning and scooting around her. Part of him was pleased that he had stood up for himself but the other half was shaking with what he had done. Layla was of higher rank than he and she was Saluce's mate. But she hadn't listened to the instruction he had given and was hindering the hunt because of it. However, the deer were on the move now and Saul's instincts told him that he should get up front and direct the stag in the direction of the trap. The young boy threw himself into the stampeding deer, teeth snapping at flanks to get them panicked. He glanced back to see what Layla was doing but instead could only see the light brown of deer hide. It took him less time than he'd thought to get to the front and when he saw the stag his stomach quaked. With a snap at the males hooves Saul attempted to push it wards the narrowing funnel at which Saluce and Gideon waited.

Layla was really not in the mood to try and deal with any other tensions that were being brought out by the members of the hunt. She just wanted to get the hunt over with so that the pack had something to eat and so that she could go home and be with her mate. The mistress took one glance back to Saluce as it looked like he was scolding Gideon again. She couldn’t understand why he was being so much ruder than usual. She could understand that he young male was busy with things in his personal life, so it was not his fault if he was not fully prepared for the hunt. Menawhile, the black and white she wolf had to deal with his brother Saul. She couldn’t understand what he was doing and why. She didn’t want him chasing after the prey until she had gotten into position. Her ears pirked up and her head turned back as she listened to him speak to her. She had no idea why he was trying to call out on her for what she was doing. She had been hunting more than he had and she knew what the behemoth’s plan was. She was going to make it so that there was a sure chance that whichever prey they had picked out would not get out of their sites and would head straight for the other two males. She remained silent, not quite in the mood for a lecture. Instead she hurried to her position and looked over to her partner, ready for the two of them to make their move. She took one last glance over to the strength men before she nodded to Saul. She would allow him to pick out the one they were going to lead back to the others.

Layla watched carefully as she noticed Saul make the first dash out into the herd. It seemed he had picked a nice one and she was ready to help him out. The mistress bounded out of her hiding spot and took to one side of the deer. She instructed Saul to stay on the other side so that it would have no where else to go but forward. She would nip at the prey’s legs as they began to chase it back towards Saluce and Gideon. The black and white she wolf knew that the behemoth was an excellent hunter. She was sure he would be able to catch the deer in his jaws with no problem at all. She was still a little worried about the young black male as she could see he was still stuck in his optime form. She knew there wasn’t much he would be able to do while in that form, but it would come in handy with trying to keep the prey down when one of them was dealing the final blow. She would continue to run, making sure the deer didn’t go too far to her side. She had no problem with this seeing as her body was built for speed. She would growl at the animal as she continued to chase it. She began to pant, but it was nothing to worry about. She had plenty of statima left.

He had come here and was waiting patiently for the deer to come there to him because Saluce had asked him to. He hadn't told the old man to help him with his hunting and didn't care whether he got help with it or not. He was good at fishing and could do that very well in either form, so who cared? It wasn't like the rivers and streams were going to suddenly dry up and leave him without any food. He preferred fish over anything else that he had been able to catch so far.

"I'm not much of a hunter. I don't know if I want to be. I can fish just fine." He grumbled half beneath his breath, brow knit. The deer rushed toward them and he stared at them, side-stepping a few before spotting one that looked a little worse for the wear. It was a deer that was a little larger than the rest but older, one that ran more slowly, stress showing in its gait. Arthritis, perhaps? He prepared to make a leap for it, hiding behind a tree and leaping out at it when it came nearer. Bulls-eye!

Whats funny james is the way I have this table saved (so I can pull up the code) is a post I did when lil giddy was but a puppy with Nayru

The moment was upon them and any will to address Gideon’s back handed comment left him. Gideon could fish if he felt that necessary, and his talents would be needed when the great herds where no where around that was for sure. Saluce didn’t harbor bad feelings for the young male in that respect, just wanted him to know how to hunt deer in the event he needed to bring prey of a bigger nature down to feed a family. Eyes looked among the scared herd, mouth watering a bit as he scooped out each deer that he laid eyes on. Soon he’d be dashing out but he hesitated a second to see what Gideon’s response was.

His body moved quickly knowing that Gideon had made an excellent choice for someone who proclaimed he wasn’t good at hunting. Maybe he just lacked self confidence. For now though, he ignored the picks that Layla and Saul had made, this hunt was more about the old ways, when their ancestors would run their prey to pick out the weakest and easiest to claim, without wasting much needed energy. Following Giddy’s lead his body lurked out quickly letting the startled deer respond to Giddy’s presence other than his as his body raced out to flank it. It was a rather simple matter really, his body was made for quick precise strikes, he would never win a prolonged race or a exercise in agility, his chance was all made in an all our nothing attempt. Flanking it his muscles rippled as he charged from an angle behind and to the side of the deer trying to make use of its blind spot while Gideon was in front.

Text book was all that could be said, herd the deer, startle them, make them scared, make them run and then let nature take its course. That’s what happened Saluce was quick to leap toward the deer’s neck, and teeth found flesh but it was a tenuous hold upon it. He’d need Giddy and the others to help before he could bring it down proper, but he was using his massive weight to slow the deer by now.

Saul’s choice to herd the lead stag was purely logical. He knew that he needed the attention of the lead stag to herd all of the deer in the right direction- going after a doe at the back would have no control over the whole herd. Layla still didn’t seem to get the idea of the hunt and tried her hardest to pick off one that she thought the other two would like. Saul had heard what Saluce had said all along and he had followed it down to the very last word. It appeared Layla had heard nothing of what her mate had said and was trying to take the hunt her way. Saluce and Gideon had slunk in front of the herd and therefore Saul and Layla’s job was to herd them in their direction. Saul shook his head in despair as he closed his mind off to the failing black and white female. It appeared he would do this without her. The excitement of the hunt was racing through his veins and he was ready now for blood.

Green eyes watched as Saluce plunged into the stampeding deer. He had his sights set on the deer and he moved easily through the bodies. He watched as ivory fangs flashed and he hung from the deers neck with a tenuous grip. He would loose it soon if Gideon was too slow to get to the man- especially in his two legged form. With a growl the timber man turned about and made his way back through the crowd of deer. It was hard going but he bobbed up and down every now and then to see Saluce weighing the deer down with his bulk. He would hold out for a few moments more before the panicking deer wrenched free from the clutches of the grey behemoth.

He reached the deer before it had time to seriously wrench its way free. Coming from behind the young male launched himself at the deers hamstring. His sharp fangs sliced into the meaty leg as if through butter. The bellow from the deer was lost to him as he secured his teeth just in front of the bone. It was an almost unbreakable grip and Saul gave growls of support to Saluce- he would be able hold the deer if Saluce wanted to let go and get a better grip on the doe.

Layla was more than sure that she was doing the right thing by leading the prey towards her mate and Gideon. That was what Saluce asked them to do and that was what she intended to do. She continued to race with Saul as she helped lead the prey over towards the other two. To her surprise, she saw that they were not actually going for the one they were leading towards the black male and the behemoth. They seemed to be going after another one. Her eyes moved over in their direction as she kept running with Saul. Why were they doing this? They had picked out a good one and it just was not right for them. The mistress could not figure out why her mate, the leader of this hunt, would even do such a thing. Her ears folded down as she stopped chasing the other deer and looked over to the one that the other two males had picked out. It seemed they were both doing fine and Saul was eager to get into the action too. The black and white she wolf had no idea what to do. She just stood there and watched the males taking down the kill. She lowered her head and closed her eyes. It was like they did not even need her there to help with the hunt. She felt more useless than Gideon was. Her head moved back up as she looked over to them. She began to turn around and leave. It was quite clear that they had everything under control.

Layla then paused and turned back around, looking over to the males. She knew she couldn’t just abandon the hunt. She raced over to the deer they were taking down and went to the side that had less wolves on. She would latch her jaws onto the prey’s stomach and dig her claws into the earth so that she could help hold it down while one of the others dealt the final blow. She could taste the warm blood in her mouth as she kept her teeth sinking into the prey’s chest. Some of the blood dripped from her mouth and onto the ground under her feet.

End soon? and lol, Matt Big Grin cute!

They were holding the deer down, each one on a different part of it. He joined Saul at the rear of the animal, watching as his brother took a hold of the deer's leg. The bellow that it let out startled him for a moment but he was quickly back in the game, opening his jaws on the deer's backbone and using his weight and strong paws to help hold it.

The choice of this deer had been his, but the kill was Saluce's and he respected that, at least. He continued to hold onto the spine, teeth dug deep into fur and flesh, warm blood pouring from the punctures and onto his tongue. Delicious. He couldn't wait until they could start to eat. He would have to bring some back for his pups, as well.

yeah thats fine, one more post for everyone

His powerful frame acted on auto pilot, feeling the weight of the deer being dragged down his grip shifted as paws found ground and his teeth sank deeper into the jugular of the beast. No great terrific shake or ripping of the throat, his teeth just slid in, keeping his grip firm to either suffocate the animal or let it die from blood loss. Saluce was big but he wasn’t quite that big to manhandle it in such a way, no the more tactful way was chosen.

A low growl emitted from his throat as he tasted the warm blood across his tongue, becoming increasingly hungry and impatient for the creatures death. But death did come to it eventually; the deer struggled once more in a burst of self preservation before finally letting its eyes close in death. Saluce continued to hold for a few more moments to make sure before his grip was finally loosened.

Standing he looked over the bunch and gave them a nod, he’d let the other three take their places and fill before he’d eat.
