Far from home

Life was full of mysteries and Arnette wanted to figure them out. She wanted to be the first to know things that other’s didn’t but she’d have to leave the cabin for that, but it was so wretchedly cold. She would brave it though and once she found herself outside, it wasn’t as cold as it had been… the clouds were threatening though, they were slightly dark, but Arnette was on a mission and when she started something she was bound to finish it. Her tail held up high she found her way through the dead grass sniffing out whatever it was that was calling her. she didn’t know, but soon enough she found herself out of the cabin’s sight… she had done that the day before. It was nothing anymore. She moved further out of the way, not sure if she should be out here, and soon found herself near the river, it was moving fast from the rainfall but she found a bridge to cross easy enough, wondering why the river flowed so fast. This was not what she was wondering though and she hurried across the bridge, and soon was running once again in open plains, she felt like she could run so fast like she was the fastest runner ever, but soon she felt a burning inside, what was it, why? And soon she slowed down, it was an instinct something she wouldn’t do all on her own.

She found herself further from home now… way too far from home, and soon she was whimpering. Where was she? In the distance she could see a building… had she turned around and found her way home? She hurried to the building but soon it became not one but many, where was she? What was this place. She sat down, trying to figure this out… was that what she needed to figure out? Yes, she thought, she wanted to know what this place was. She started sniffing the ground, there were houses all around her now, but she dared not go inside one in case it was occupied.

sorry for the wait <3

Anann did not spend much time in her lupus form. It's light size made it the least favorite of her forms. That didn't change the fact that she liked to stay practiced in all her forms. To keep the changes fluid as well as her coordnation in her each form. So dispite her distaste for it, she would at least go for a run every now and again, perhaps if she was lucky she would find a rabbit or some other fresh meat for tonight's supper. For smaller prey was all that she could handle on her in own the the light and flightly lupus form she had donned.

The cool air was perfect for such a run. It did not take long for paws of soft creme to carry her north of her cabin, crossing the streams and headed on in the general direction of the hotel. A familiar scent caught her attention. It was fresh, and alone. What was Arnette doing this far from the cabin on her own. Frowning, the fem set out after the pup. It didn't take long for her to catch up, but she lagged behind and kept an eye on her from afar. Not wanting to intrude on the young one's independence but knowing she would never forgive herself if she were to allow any harm to come to Heath's daughter. Curious young pups tended to find their share of trouble, or at least Anann had always managed to. She was thankful she had had her own protective guardian.

They hit the edge of Lunenberg before the young pup seemed to realize just how far from home she had come. At the soft whimpers Anann began closing the distance she had left between them. "Arnette." She called out in a gentle tone, not wanting to startled the poor dear as she trotted up. "What are you up to? Pretty far from home, aren't you?"

OOC: short post /sadface

She’d been so worried where she was that she didn’t notice much else than that she was alone right now… and that scared her, far away AND alone. She whimpered again but as she was about to turn around and try to find her way back she heard a familiar voice, though she rarely saw the woman she remembered her from early. She grinned knowing the sandy lady would be able to help her and take her home… when she was ready, because now she was feeling ten times braver. She now wanted to explore this place… now that she wasn’t alone.

Aunty Anann!! I was just looking around… I got lost

It was hard for her to admit that she had dme something that she should be embarrassed about but she had to, to explain herself, she started wagging her tail and smiled at Anann.

Come on, you can help me!

She knew if she gave Anann the time of day she’d bring Arnette right home, but now she wasn’t going to want to, she wanted to see what was in the buildings, be them occupied or not. She sniffed along the ground taking in all the new scents as she hurried into the village. Soon she disappeared in a house, one that didn’t smell of wolves, but she waited near the doorway for Anann to come, she didn’t want the sandy wolf to lose her so then she’d have to find a way home by herself.

Anann could only smile, her tail swaying contently behind he as she watched the worry drain from Arnette's body language as she realized she was no longer truly alone. A soft chuckle building in her chest but she held it back. It was natural that the young girl would be out and wandering about, testing her bounderies in more ways than one. Anann's tail gave a good couple solid wags at being called Aunty. While she was no blood relation to Arnette, her father was the closest thing Anann had to a brother.

It was no surprise that Arnette was feeling braver now and not at all ready to turn around and head home. Not in the least. Anann allowed herself a soft chuckle as Arnette hurried towards the village with her nose to the ground. Anann followed her, occasionally taking her own sniff the ground. Still she gave the youth plenty of room to explore, lagging behind slightly so that Arnette could still have a little bit of a thrill of exploring without Anann looking right over her shoulder.

Once she disappeared after into a house though Anann closed the gap quickly. "Careful Arnette. Watch were you step in here. You don't want to step on any broken glass and watch for nails." A cut paw pad was no fun for anyone and Anann wanted no harm coming to Heath's little girl on her watch. Part of her, perhaps an overprotective portion, wanted to make Arnette leave the home and the potential dangers. But logic won the battle and Anann knew it would be best for Arnette to learn how to safely explore the homes than for Anann to turn them into something forbidden.

Arnette could tell that Anann was close behind her, she wagged her tail as she saw the woman come after her, happy she was, she heard the woman talk but she didn’t move, her tail still wagging, she would be careful but she wanted to make sure Anann was in eyeshot. The house itself was devoid of such things that would be useful to a wolf, but Arnette wasn’t really looking for anything in particular, as Anann had mentioned the pup kept her eyes out for any nails and glass, and anything that could hurt her,

This is neat, I bet no wolf has lived in here!

She had been correct mostly because of the rot that came to the house from the roof which had partially collapsed in, but Arnette wasn’t going near there, she doubted there would be anything cool. She moved in sniffing more and more when a room caught her eye… she moved in and it was though it had been nearly untouched, well ok it had been, it was near empty except for a dresser, but she saw a really old looking thing sticking out of the dresser, she looked up over at Anann, giving pleading eyes to open the drawer, she wanted to see what it was!

Once inside, Anann stayed closer to Arnette, simply because it was harder to keep an eye on the young girl. She was content to follow and let the young girl explore around the long abandoned home. "I think you're right, Arnette." The place was beyond saving at this point. The roof having collapsed and much of the structure giving way to rot. She was glad to see that Arnette had listened and seemed to be looking were she stepped as well as investigating the ruins.

Anann lost sight of her for just a moment as she headed into another room. Though she was just a step behind. The room was more or less bare, save for one old dresser that seemed to have caught the tawny girl's attention. As the pleading eyes turned to her, it was obvious what she wanted. It would have been so simple to open, had she just shifted to her optime form. Instead, she tried pulling the handles with her teeth and pulling at the drawer with her nails and paws. It was a little harder, and rather absurd looking, but drawer came all the way open eventually. Anann sat back on her haunches, letting Arnette discover whatever it was they had found. "What have you got there, kiddo?"
