All welcome!

Life as he knew it had changed. In a way he felt ridiculously lonely, but the bridge behind him was burning and there was no chance of returning to what he knew. He desired no such thing though, but this loneliness had a bitter taste to it. The young Lykoi felt that this was where he was supposed to be, however, and these days he devoted his time to getting to know this home a bit better. Naniko was here to take care of him and that was all he could wish for. The beautiful pale woman with the emerald eyes, the truths she had told him gave meaning and a desire to destroy in order to save. Gabriel had not understood that, but he knew that the Aquila had seen what was inside him and recognized it.

The caves were deep and dark, but the young boy was quickly finding his way around. Right now he sat by one of the many entrances into the blackened underground maze, gazing at the twinkling stars above. The air had never seemed so cold before, but he knew he was facing his first winter. One of the things he missed was his grandmother’s warmth, but she was no longer here to keep him warm at nights. She had abandoned him as well; had failed to understand what it was he had tried to do. It was a shame, but from this disappointment he would learn that few would be able to understand that what he did, he did for the greater good.

His arm was healing thanks to Demi and her healing powers, his knuckles were sore but almost all closed over now. He knew he had been stupid to get mad at her for beind mad at him. But she was being unreasonable and it was one of his oldest rules, he would never hit a girl. So the wall had got it instead, which in turn had actually helped him to make the hole that would be the entrance to his home. He had made a wooden door only a few days ago and attached it to the square opening he had shaped to make the doorway. He could not lock the door with a simply mechanism, the key of which was floating around in his pants pockets. He was getting somewhere now- a home, a pack, something to work for.

Still, he was never going to know his way around these damn tunnels unless he actually went around and searched until he could find his way out again. Blue eyes had accustomed themselves to the din of the caves a while back- the periodic lamps of fire at intervals along the way helping a great deal to make sure he hit as little walls as possible. There were scents of all kinds around here, and Teddy could have sworn he had smelt blood a few days ago. He had heard a particular mewling as well but he couldnt place it so he walked on.

He had entered a darker tunnel than usual when a fresh scent jumped out at him. Anathema was yet to distinguish its proper pack smell yet and therefore everyone smelt new to him. Keen blue eyes searched until dusty brown caught his attention. A large pup he would assume. Shifintg down into his lupus form so he was not so high up Teddy approached the lad and looked down at him with an odd expression on his face.

"What're you doing down here?"

He questioned in a gruff manner. He never really liked pups and considering that this one was male it made it even worse. But he had decided long ago that he shouldnt be so anti-social and this was another attempt at being friendly, albeit in a gruff way.

Big Grin arawr!

Sounds snuck up from behind his seated form. Face turned slightly to gaze into the darkness with dark scarlet orbs. There was a pair of blue there peering back at him, but not a drop of adrenaline rose to inspire the youth’s fur to stand on edge. He knew no one here except for his pale queen, but the young Lykoi believed there was no one here lurking in these caves worse than him. There was no evil or good in this world, but he had an idea of the thing chained away inside him. Was this something he had been born with, brought forth from Naniko D’Angelo’s beautiful presence and redeeming words? Unmistakable sounds of bones and sinew twisting and changing was enough to reveal the change of forms, but the boy turned back to the twinkling lights afar, expecting the canine creature to engage if he felt the need to socialize.

Soon the dark creature drew up near, and it was enough to distinguish a black coat, now when the adult had stepped into the scarce light provided by the stars. It was a peculiar question to ask, the young Lykoi thought. ”I am watching the stars,” the reply sounded, a quiet, cool voice trapped between childhood and adulthood. Dark rubies shifted between the black man and the dimly lit velvet. How could he belong to this place filled up with strangers? Could it be that the thought of Inferni was what caused this wave of nostalgia? It had been a conscious choice when he had attempted to push Kaena Lykoi down into the steep abyss, but he supposed he had not been aware of the consequences it would bring. Now there was no blood bonds grant him belonging anywhere.

Teddy had always been a good body reader. His father had made perfectly sure that he and Lochlan knew what another was thinking without even looking in their eyes. They could both tell intentions and agenda's a mile off. And it was this skill that alerted him to the fact that this young man didnt appear to be all there. Well, perhaps he was all there but there was something corrupt about him. Though nobody could ever know another's nature, not even through familiarity, there was a certain feel about people that Teddy got from a first glance. A first impression that pinged his warning signals. Maybe not right now, maybe not even soon but at some point something was going to snap in the boy and Teddy didnt fancy being around to see that. Naniko had bought the boy back, she was responsible for him.

Teddy had not realised that the point the pup stood had a direct line of sight upward to the sky. He had seen the boy down here and wondered why he was just stood there. He hadn't seen the shimmer of moonlight at first- it was concealed behind a lip of overhanging rock that hung just behind the boy. So when he replied with 'watching the stars' the young warrior was confused. However a look upwards and a small step forward revealed the hole with which the pup was gazing. Teddy thought this answer was really rather strange however and gave a soft snort in the back of his throat.

"There is nothing in the stars boy"

The statement was not his own- they were taken directly from his fathers mouth. Wanting his sons to be killing machines had meant crushing all creativity in their minds. He did not want stargazers as sons. So he had told both Stone boys that there was nothing out there, nothing to look at. And it had blurted from his lips before he had time to really think about it. However he couldnt unsay what he had already said and waited for a response from the young boy.

Was it the man’s intention to ridicule him? Tail tinted with traces of golden threads moved against his puppy tail, displaying the slightest hint of mild aggravation in a manner similar of a feline’s, though he was certain it was minor enough to escape the adult’s keen eyes, if that was what they were. Deep, eternally blushing orbs did not flicker as he tasted the mild, stagnant air of their underground home, seasoned with raw soil and gentle moisture present even as they existed in the heart of winter. Was this the perfume that was to infest his lovely coat and greet canines of different factions? The salt breaths of the north western seas were quickly fading from him, and today he was a wolf with nothing more than a breath of mixed blood. The young, expelled prince did not mourn his severed ties and distant home, but the change had been great and still required some getting used to.

Quiet reds let go of the subtle, glittering velvet, taking its time to travel to the man beside him. ”And you are certain of this?” the youth asked, empty face not transmitting the quiet reluctance that existed behind his eyes. Who did this man think he was, coming here and say that there was nothing out there? Perhaps he was right, but not everything in this world had to make sense in order to possess some variation of beauty. The pulsing lights up there seemed alive to the boy, and while this could be wrong, he could enjoy the treats brought to him by his imagination. Was it so that adults needed to find purpose in their surroundings? The young Lykoi boy would be able to understand that, but was not willing to submit to that direction. Sure, Itachi too sought purpose and found it when he looked, but it was not a requirement of his that everything around him should make sense in some way.

Dark scarlet lit eyes settled against vivid blue, expecting a filling answer brought by a dismissive tone. Yes, he was a mere boy and knew nothing about anything, but he strongly disliked being treated like a child when his psyche wished to rank him higher. Experience was welcomed, but only if brought on by a voice that spoke to him more as an equal than a dull, indulgent child. That was not to say that Itachi already felt unfairly treated by the adult by his side, but his mind was indeed quick to coat itself with defensive, passive aggressive thoughts and emotions. To put the whole thing into a different perspective, it was good to know that they were unaware of what he remained capable off. The youth did not consider him to be the reaper; to hold the right to judge and take those he meant were ripe and ready to leave this hellish earth, but the feeling of power it had given him, and the action had in return given birth to a silent hunger that eventually would demand nutrition in the form of tragedy.

Everything in the young warrior wanted to dislike the young boy he had met by accident. He had always been taught that males were aggressive and if he was ever going to get trouble off of anyone it would be a man. But his fathers constant beatings and the near constant threat of another beating had kept both Stone boys silent lipped. They had known the teeth of a woman, for they were in a pack of warriors. But their father wanted to poison his sons. And in beating them and abusing them he made sure that both boys were well and truely mistrusting of anything with the same genitalia as the boys. Despite the fact that Teddy could probably snap the boys neck in half in less than a second, there was a bubble of mistrust in him that he couldnt shake away. He wasnt meant to trust him, and therefore he didnt.

It was therefore no coincidence that Teddy had joined a pack where the two highest ranking members were females. True Azalea was very far from feminine but Teddy had placed all of his trust in Naniko when he had made the leap and agreed to join her fledgling pack. They were growing in numbers but Naniko still spoke to him- still asked his opinion on matters, still needed teaching. This place was resting to his soul, despite the fight he had already landed himself in. But that didnt mean the fear and mistrust was just going to go away. He'd tried to talk to Attila a few days ago but the spoilt boy had flounced off and left the struggling man with nothing else to do but scowl. Strong voice came forward as bright red caught his own azure gaze.

"No... but it is what I have been told since I was old enough to hear"

Came Theodore's murmered reply. His tone was softer than normal and perhaps it was because the question had been so direct from one so young. He was older than Naniko's son or Selene's welp, not yet old enough to be in the adult ranks but certainly not far off of it. Teddy wondered what the gold hued boy wished to do with his life, was there another warrior in the making here? Blue eyes held crimson, asserting his dominance by maintaining his gaze. The boy should look away, as any other pack member would be expected to.

By some standards, the boy’s action had formed him into an adult, and he hungered for that acknowledgement from those around, but never seemed to gain it. Dissatisfaction churned within his pale chest, for patience was hard to obtain for him at such a young age. This alone should reveal to the boy too that he was far from a grown up creature, and the soul needed to mature as well as the physical vessel. His unique tendencies did not make him grander than anyone else, but he thought it should. Itachi had high thoughts of himself, but did not know how to improve his current situation. It was not unbearable the least, but he wanted satisfaction that he not yet could demand from his fellow pack mates. He belonged on the bottom and was expected to eat beetles and stomp his white paws against mud to pass time, but he refused to do so. He would submit to the rules here and try to fit in as they wished him to, but it was not something he did with enthusiasm.

The male before him was everything that the young hybrid was not, and it annoyed him that he would fight a losing battle for his queen’s attention. The woman with the emerald eyes treated him justly, but always seemed to mind his age. Itachi was territorial to a point, and he felt a need to prove himself to all, especially to the males. But again, his youth was a problem and there were no remedies for that except for time itself, but he was unwilling to sit and wait. Yet that was what he would have to do. How could such a young soul be so bitter already at this stage in his life? Gaze remained as the man spoke, and while the line of his mouth lengthened, it remained strictly horizontal without a hint of a curve to display emotion. ”And so you choose to speak those same words without the knowledge of truth?” he asked, voice spilling forth words in a relaxed manner as the boy took his time to fish up a well put together sentence. Childish blabber never got anyone anywhere.

He knew what he saw in the eyes of the adult male, and after a moment more, he did as he should; he allowed his gaze to drop down to ebony paws, barely visible in the dark blushing gray that suffocated this cave. ”Do you think I need to hear it?” It was an honest question, not one distorted by sarcasm or cheekiness. Was it necessary for him to turn his crimson gaze away from dreams and twinkling stones scattered across a sleeping sky? Did it mean nothing because he could not reach them? He sought the male’s opinion on this, and wrapped his tail closer to his body as a breath of chill arrived from the nearby entrance of the cave. The mountain’s underground depths remained temperate though, and he wondered if they would remain a similar temperature in another season where warmth poured from the sky from a strengthened sun.

Charles Stone had beaten a lot out of his children in the near-year that he had with them. He had wanted mindless killing machines and he had almost achieved his goal. But there was no way to completely beat a personality out of the two boys and there was certainly enough mischief in the brothers that they remained sane at least. Whilst Teddy was cheeky and flirty with the females Lochlan was a silent planner, his mischievous plans coming about in catastrophic bangs. They never played pranks on their father but there were plenty of cousins and pack mates to test them on. And since the bitter old warrior they called 'Father' was so feared for his temper, the young Stone boys never seemed to get into trouble for their endeavors. Still, there were things that Teddy missed about his childhood- the naive gullability he had listened to his father with and the blind faith that in the end, everything would be okay. While most puppies were desperate to grow up, it wasn't until they actually did that they wished they had remained ignorant of the real world. Still, Teddy had never had faith in the stars.

Blue eyes gave a soft flash in the dark as the welp's indignant voice came through. Although absent of any emotion that would have marked the words as chastising, the words themselves were certainly a rebuke. For a moment Theodore was certainly shocked by the words that came from the pup. They surely had more respect than that. A soft growl threatened to escape as the male's dominant attitude came forward. He wanted to teach the pup a lesson about questioning one's elders, but he couldnt. What the pale boy had said was making some sense to him. He had no evidence that there was nothing out there, just the blind faith that his father had been right. Or perhaps the blind fear that had kept him from questioning. Still, it was not a pups place to point out his error.

"You want to watch that tongue boy... It might get you in trouble some day. And yes, I chose to tell you without evidence."

It was not the pups place to question him and for a moment Teddy could understand a few of the premises his father had worked with. Pups needed to know that what adults told them was the truth, even if it actually wasnt. Theodore would never had dreamed of speaking back to his father. Though sicne he had left his family's choking hold he had grown in confidence he still understood that his father was a terrifying creature. Black ears perked forward to catch the other boys words. As with his other words there was very little emotion in his words and Theodore wondered for a moment what had made this pup seem so... old. Blue eyes caught red as he lowered his gaze as he should have done in the first place.

"Yes. There will come a time when you learn that everything you thought you knew was wrong... Perhaps I felt it prudent to tell you one now instead of letting you find it out yourself."

Came the low thrum of his voice. Though it was certainly not his responsibility to tell him about these things- that privalege was his fathers due. But it appeared he was on his own in this pack, a pup who had chosen to leave the skirt string of his home and leave everything he knew. Teddy wondered what would have made him do that but decided not to voice it. Whatever his reasons he was here now.

Apologies for wait D: 300+

Defiance continued to live on within him, and as the scolding words brushed against soft blonde ears, he flattened them fully and turned his gaze to the opposite direction of the dark male. The young prince did not like people parading about speaking things they did not know to mere strangers. Except for the scent of deep, moist rock and raw soil, the two of them shared nothing. The world was full of liars and damned souls—how could the younger male know for certain that this one was not just another one that deserved to fall into the deep abyss? The man said that there would come a time when he learned that everything he thought he knew was wrong. Itachi had already had his revolution on that matter, had he not? It was that lovely scent of young madness that had driven him to push Kaena off the cliff. It was a shame that the end results had become so distorted and severe.

The young one did not know that the blue eyed male wanted. Was his intention only to destroy dreams and express superiority over a younger Anathema wolf? The thought was bitter in the young prince’s mouth, but he had enough self-control to hold his tongue, though he was not actually certain if that was what he wished. Bones could be broken, but a strong mind could not be forced to strict submission. Naniko was considered part of his ideal world, but this unknown man saying odd things was not. How dared he lecture a stranger? Itachi recognized his thoughts as immensely sour, but he would allow them to soar nevertheless. He figured he’d rather learn life from first-hand experience rather than to have a man without knowledge lecturing him. Perhaps the youth was just prematurely bitter. Sunset gaze did not return to the other, as he knew that he had nothing worthwhile to reply with.

There came silence from the blonde pup, but had the young warrior really expected anything else? He was a stubborn boy, it was clear from the challenging tone and the nature of his questions. He didnt conform to anyone and he lived by his own set of rules. Of course, in a pack that wasnt always the right way to go. Teddy himself had to make changes to co-exist here with other. Much as he would love to live on his own and continue hating everyone, his instinctual need to be with a group made that impossible. So he had to swallow most of his anti-social behaviours and try and get on with those around him. Challenging and questioning everyone and everything around you wasnt going to help.

The young boy still said nothing and Teddy felt as though their time star gazing was over. As with the Aston boy not long ago, the conversation had grown stagnant and stale- there was nothing more to say to one another. They were no more aware of each others lives than they had been before this little soujourn. With a soft huff of breath from his nose Teddy turned and headed back towards his home. He was sure he would see the pup around here at some point, but at this moment in time Teddy could care less.

He said nothing to the boy as he left the area. Still, he felt a little calmer about walking away. He didnt need to fight it out with the insolent boy and therefore he didnt. Slipping into his den, Teddy fought tired eyes and he willed himself to stay awake. It didnt really work, so he succumbed to the sleep pulling him down and away from that awkward conversation. Perhaps he would never have to speak to him again.
