must be getting old

It was never easy to leave the familiarity that a home offered. No matter how much Spider had wanted to rid himself of the bore and never-ending cycle present during his former lifestyle, departing from the place he'd known all of his life had been a difficult process. It was for this reason that Spider had vowed to never attach himself to another group of canines for as long as he was to live. This was not to say that he would cut himself off from the world, it simply meant that the clan life was something that he would never again be a part of. Spider was a free spirit now, able to do as he pleased and go where he desired without the chains tugging at the back of his mind, pulling him back. If he wasn't attached to something, he'd never have to leave it.

As far as the young coyote could tell, his plan was fool-proof. He could meet and learn about as many other individuals as he desired without ever feeling the need to devote himself to one entirely. It was for this reason that the male wandered along the sunny coast until he reached the pack land that belonged to a group of his kind. He was not worried that the clan would attract his instincts of grouping together, for he was sure that he could control his own desires. No, Spider had come to the clan simply for the sake of seeing some of his own kind. Along the journey, he'd laid his eyes upon plenty of wolves but very few--if any, coyotes. If what he heard was true, he'd find himself with plenty in these lands.
