Been living in a dream about you

"and now I know you were all I ever wanted on my mind."

The chill in the air had become far more pronounced in the passing weeks as winter took a strong hold on the land, covering everything in frost and snow. Anann had now seen the land she now called home through all it's various seasons. As it returned to the wondrous winter wonder land she had arrived in Anann couldn't help but be reminded of just how much her life had changed in the passing year. She held not one regret for it either and felt pride in the fact that she could now honestly say it had all be for the better. These days she rarely thought back to the life she had left behind in Tosawi. Which was all for the better since she had never seen returning to be an option and she was all caught up in the here and now.

Always an early riser, Anann had been awake long before the sun's light had begun to creep over the horizon. Though she was not as quick to leave her bed as she once had been, taking a moment to enjoy the warmth of the body laying next to her own. Just thinking of the walk she would be shortly making to the stables through the cold morning air caused her snuggle against him. Wanting to make the most of the moment while she could. Softly she spoke his name, trying to gently wake him enough to tell him that she going to run to the stables to do the chores but that she was going to hurry home afterwards. She would be his for the day, and the night, but she wanted to get out of the pack lands for awhile and he would have to decide where it was they would go.

She had been feeling rather guilty, knowing that for the past several days she had avoided the cabin and Anatoliy as well, to an extent. He had done nothing wrong, nothing to upset her and she did her best to let him know that. It was just that Heath's sudden departure had been a heavy blow and she had needed some time alone to deal with it. She hadn't wanted to be a burden, as foolish as such a thought might seem. So she hurried through the morning chores, knowing that Ever would more than likely be in at some point as well to check on the horses, and hurried back to the cabin. She had gotten herself through the anger and the rage, as well as the sorrow. And now as a result, it was Anatoliy that she missed.

For the slow start that their relationship had gotten started on it had begun to move rather quickly in the passing weeks. When he had come to her after Rurik had up and left there had been no other option in her heart than to offer him her home. Though she did find it intimidating in it's own right. Love was very intimidating to her, as it was uncharted ground and she feared the weakness that it was known to bring with it. Despite all the happiness she had been feeling, she was unable to shake the feeling that something bag was looming ahead. She had hoped the feeling would fade once Heath had left and thats all that inkling thought had been, but it persisted.

"So," she said as she walked through the door of their cabin. Yes, their cabin. For it had never felt more like home than once he had come to stay with her. "Have you decided where we are going today?" She asked as she leaned against the log wall, looking at him with that silly grin he always seemed to bring about. It didn't really matter what they did, so long as it was the two of them and they got out and about a bit. She needed a change of scenery.

My god, this is sooooo sappy

Oh it had been wonderful, living by Anann's side. Comparing it to back in Russia, or even at the old Russo house in Lunenburg, was about as futile as trying to fish without a line. He felt as though there was no reason to ever leave Anann; that was how right it felt to him. Granted, he never had anyone else in his life but why would he ever want to have anyone else? He was happy, and he was hoping all the time that she was happy and content with him in her life. He hoped she was happy with waking up early in the morning, knowing she would either be gazing at him in the soft morning light or she could feel him beside her, behind her. Anatoliy sure as hell was to wake up to her every morning, to be able to give a passing kiss now and then, to feel her in his arms. It was like some kind of addiction for him and he needed his fix of his drug. At some point, he would think it was a bit unhealthy how much he cared for her, but then he threw it away instantly, knowing he still had his wits about him. That was always important to the Russo; his wits. But now Anann was definitely a part of his life.

It was the morning of a day that the two of them had agreed to keep free for each other, planning to spend the entire time with one another, just enjoying the company one provided the other. And they needed it, quite a bit. Their relationship was alright, but it had been hard on Anann lately. Heath had left with his mate and children, and Anatoliy knew that the other man had been a very good friend to his woman. The departure had hurt her something fierce and she had pulled away from the Russo in the time she was mourning the man. He understood, even though he had been a bit jealous of the man, considering he had a friendship with her based on something he could not do. The Russo was no horse man nor could he truly take care of them or ride them well. But Heath, and Haven now that he thought about it, were the warriors and horsemen that Anatoliy was not. He was jealous of that aspect of them, but he did not hate them for it nor did he mistrust Anann. He knew she was fully his and he believed her. He was very trusting, especially to those who had earned it. And by the gods, had she earned it.

Anatoliy heard her voice calling him out of his deep sleep. He blinked up at her a little bit through narrowed golden eyes. He was still dizzy with sleep and he nodded at her, mumbling an "alright" with his accent muffling it on top of his sleepiness. He would be awake soon, but he wanted to curl up just a little bit for a little while. Their plan for the day had them heading far south and he needed the rest. Anatoliy had warned her, but she had the horses to take care of. He let her at it, considering one of them was pregnant with Rem's foal. How could he fault her for that? He heard her leave, drowsy as his senses were, and he rose himself. He hovered around their bed. Ah, their bed.. the words made him smile as he adjusted it, basically making the bed as best as he could.

Anann would not be gone long, but in the mean time, he took his fishing line and a couple of hooks. It was a bit hard to get worms at this time of year, considering how snowy and cold the land was. Most of the worms he had caught came before the frost, which meant they were dead in their pail of dirt. But that was not important. Fish loved a meal, no matter if it was a squiggly living worm or not. He went to the pond, finding a layer of ice on it. Frowning, he put down the line and wormed hooks. Shuffling around, Anatoliy located a large rock and hefted it from the ground, ignoring the snow and frozen earth on it. Rock in hand, he crouched by the pond and used it to break the ice, the noise loud and obnoxious as the ice splintered and cracked. Soon, he had a large, gaping hole with plenty of spidery cracks from the edges of it. Anatoliy set up the line and threw in the hook, hoping that the fish were lying dormant in the cold water. If anything, it would make them more lively for his next attempt.

Hands chilled by the ice and water, the Russo returned to the cabin, proceeding to sit on the bed he had just made. Reclining on the wall of the cabin, he smiled with eyes shut. It was so nice, this. There was nothing to worry about and they were happy. What more could he ask for?

She spoke and Anatoliy opened his eyes to look at her golden form in the doorway. He matched her grin with a goofy one of his own. "Vhy, yes I have," he answered her, rising from the bed to pull her into his arms and give her a quick kiss before he let go of her waist gingerly. Feeling her made him want more, but he knew they had other things to do today, to have some much needed innocent fun and to get her away from the pack lands. She needed distracting, and he would distract her plenty that day and night. "Ve're heading souzh. Down zhe coast. Zhere is somezhing I have heard about zhat you might like to see vith me." Taking her by the hand and pulling her out the cabin door, he pointed down south, even though they could not see nearly so far. "Somevone told me vonce, zhat zhere is a haunted castle. And I zhink, ve should go see just how haunted it is," he grinned mischievously at her, beckoning her to follow once he dropped her hand.

It was a hard, long run, long enough that he had suggested they use their much more hulking secui forms to do it. He was not a fan of it, but it beat walking for hours and hours. They got there in about half the time, since they ran for at least a quarter of the time, maybe more. But it was just about noon by the time they got to the castle. It loomed over head as the Russo came to a halt, panting a bit. A moment later and he was standing upright, well aware he had not donned his clothes and all he had on was his knife belt; it had been a tad loose on his other form, but he had managed. And who knew if he would need it in the castle? Sending golden eyes up at it, he shuddered. It was made of black stones and he knew that they were not local, or could not be. He had never seen such stone in the area. It just.. it just could not be a native variety. "Here it is..," said the Russo, turning to face Anann with a grin on his face.

this too, is sappy :o

As soon as she saw him sitting there, on their bed with his eyes closed and his back leaned against the log wall there was nothing that could be done to stop the smile that spread across Anann's golden face, setting it aglow with the simple, blissful happiness that only he seemed to bring to her. It started small as it often did, though its presence undeniable as it pulled at the corners of her lips and as his golden eyes reached her eyes of a darker, deeper hue it would only grow. Reaching its glorious full potential as he rose from the hodgepodge arrangment of mattresses clad in furs that served as their bed and she felt his arms come around her as he pulled her into his embrace. It was a such a simple thing, a small, loving gesture as he gave her a quick kiss. So simple, yet it always left her feeling so satisfied, so loved and yet pining for more. Never had Anann thought that she would know what it was to find such happiness in another. To share such a love. Such a thing had never been hers to hold amd she had never expected it to be.

It was an intoxication. The way the world seemed to blur away during the hours they spent together. Nothing else seemed to matter so long as she was with him. Anatoliy completed her world, the new life she had set out to create for herself. Though it hadn't been until he had found his way into her heart, her life, that she had even realized what had been missing. Ignorance had been bliss, but it was nothing compared to the knowledge that had come to replace it. Anann saw a new future for herself. A shared future, for she could no longer imagine what life might be like without him. He had become a large part of her life. And it was frightening. Hell, it was down right terrifying to the she-wolf that had always been so independent. Heath's departure had been a hefty blow to her heart, but to no longer have Anatoliy in her life, that would be devastating. To feel so connected, so dependant on another was a vulnerability she had never had. Love was a double edged sword, and so it was no wonder that it often left so many hearts bleeding.

There was no time for such thoughts on this day though, as Anann sought to leave such things behind. To move on past the sudden loss of her closest friend. Today was a day for distraction and for her and Anatoliy to spend some much needed time alone. At least somewhere other than the confines of their home. Anann had only asked that they go somewhere beyond the pack's borders. Though there was nothing wrong with the time they had spent in the packlands. Within the walls of their cabin. She had thought it likely that they would be headed north, perhaps to the ruined city. She has heard of a library there that she hoped to explore one day to see if still held any tomes that she might find of value. There was also the harbor, larger than the one within the packlands themselves. Or perhaps even the mountains that lay even further north. She had not given the south much thought at all for the simple fact she had scarcely ever been further in that direction than the pack of Dreamers, though she had not ventured north of their own borders either since she had first come through those lands to where she now knew as home. A genuine look of surprise came over her, ears perked and her head tilted slightly off kilter as he talked of heading southward, though her smile, that silly, silly grin, never faded.

There wasn't a chance for her to question further as he took her hand and lead her back out into the brisk morning air and pointed southward toward their distant destination. She gave his hand a tight squeeze as her eyes lit with excitement. Anann had heard of the castle. Jazper and Haven had both spoken of the weaponry that could be found within. She had seen it once, from a distance, but had yet to explore it at all. Nor had she heard of the haunted nature of the halls. "Haunted? Do you really think so?" The question genuine. Anann had heard tell of haunted places where spirits were tied to the earth after their death rather than moving on to the next life. If it was, she would be curious to see if there was any truth to such myths.

The sun sat high in the sky by the time the dark walls of the castle began to appear on the horizon. Growing larger and larger as they drew ever closer. It was massive and one of the largest structures that Anann had ever seen. Sure, she had seen pale imitations of the massive stone castles of ancient Europe. Things she had only seen in books. Staring at it so, it had taken her a moment to realize that Anatoliy had so quickly shed four legs for two. Her own change was quick and there was only a slight delay as she vale to stand at his side. Her hand seeking out his. "Have you ever seen anything like it?" She wanted to know what it was like inside, to wander its halls and see what secrets it might hold.
