How long had he been here? The male thought about it while he sat out on the sandy beach as he looked out to the mist of the sea. The male shifted around as he rolled his sore shoulder, he heard the grinding that the joint where the two bones meet. Not only was it painful but the sound was blood chilling. He shut his eyes as he let the cool winter winds roll off the sea, as he slowly brought him-self up to a stand on all four feet as he made his way into the water as the waves rolled over the top crashing into him and into the sandy beach. The waves were hitting harder the deeper the silver male moved into the water. After one of the higher waves came rolling towards him the male knew how to take it, he turned his back to the wave as it pushed him closer to the shore. He allowed the powerful force to move him closer and closer to land. These waves where stronger then what that normally where, but it still felt good to have the cold waves hitting against his shoulder , with a grunt he closed his eyes, as his body rocked with natural rhythm of the sea. It was so cold it actually seemed to freeze the pain from the sore shoulder away.

As he moved closer and closer to the shore lines the male found a spot where he could lay down while letting his shoulder still be washed with the bitter cold waters. He looked over to his little cabin, as he gave a soft sigh. He was so glad that he took that risk and left his mother, father, brother and half sister. Jefferson still scared the silver male but he had more than enough chances to kick Noah out of the pack, every day that he was here he could kick him out. The silver male had gained two ranks with in the time he had been with in the pack, he could only guess that whatever he hated in his mother and father wasn’t in him, or if it was it wasn’t big enough of an issue that he was exiled. The male knew that to live each day as just that , and to live by his own personal book of moral and he would be fine and if something did happen where Jefferson told him to pack up and get out he would know that he was still a worthy being.

But he would not do so, if the cyclops could resist doing so. Yes, Noah was a child of two Jefferson could not express his blood red hatred for any clearer, and indeed a bias burned in his heart, but the Patriarch knew the morals of fairness. He treated Noah as a separate matter, an entity divided from his parents, for that was what he was; Noah had severed his ties with them, as far as Jefferson knew, and such an action in and of itself was plenty for the cyclops to consider Noah intelligent for. Perhaps the boy saw the same things the cyclops had in Lucifer and Deuce, perhaps not, but Jefferson kept such things in the whirlwind that cluttered his mind, spiraling in and out of control, flashing before his vision at times while invisible at others.

Was he seeking Noah out? Perhaps. Jefferson had not had much time to connect with him, but recent events had him thinking far more than usual about his personal family. Pripyat was growing, as was Addison; she was an adult now, and handled things as such. Geneva stood beside him in leading Phoenix Valley, and together the four of them made some sort of warped, yet functioning, unit at the pack's heart. But what was Noah? He had left his parents behind, and from personal experience Jefferson knew that only to be a good idea. With such characters in his past, did the boy have anything to hold onto anymore?

The brute followed the silver boy's scent two-legged, drawing close to the other where it became difficult to discern; the salt and sea lingered in the scents on the air, in the cold January wind, and Jefferson pulled his feeble scarf closer and moved on. Noah sat in the waves, looking rather pathetic, and the cyclops soon joined him, quietly moving to stand beside him in time with the receding sea.

"I've been thinking about you," Jefferson said, his glowing eye lost at sea, the vicious ocean winds ripping at his barren scars and thick winter coat. A sigh, then a slight, scarred smile as he glanced down. "You're nothing like your parents. You shouldn't fear to become them."

The sea waves felt great against his leg that was eaten away by the arthritis. Something about the cold water and the sudden impact of the cold waves helped take the pain away from his shoulder and joints. He closed his eyes as his body was rocked back and forth, he sighed softly like a child was being rocked back and forth in their mother’s arm while nursing upon her tit, enjoying the warm sweet milk from their mother’s body. Noah yawned, he wished he had grew up to be more like his brother, strong without the scars on his body, able to talk right and even had taken him a female before the silver beaten male took off for a new life.

So caught up in his own life and his own thoughts that the male was foolish enough to let his guard down and allow anyone to see him being rocked into a twilight sleep by ice cold waters. Anyone could walk up push his head under the water and hold it there until his lungs could no longer hold his breath and he would be forced to die, but Noah did not fear that anyone would kill him under the water well in these lands or pack. Maybe back at Unwritten sure he would not put it past his own father. As sad as that was he knew that was just how it was.

The sound of Jefferson’s voice spooked him, his eyes jolted open as his head snapped up looking at the tall leader. Quickly scrambling to his feet the male actions where that of a scared cat. Quickly bowing down to the brown and cream male as he shifted around taking the weight off his shoulder that he was trying to treat. ”Sire!” Noah knew that Jefferson did not like him how submissive he was, however it was his nature to show respect to any one as long as they had the right to it. Which, was just about anyone so far that he had the honor of meeting in these lands. The words that came out of the male’s mouth next got Noah, thinking about him? Did he not have enough on his plate with being a leader, a father; a mate and the numbers of pack that where coming into play taking away the neutral lands that they had. Did he not worry that with the rate of growth that the Valley would have to fight for what land they did have? Noah lifted his head up a bit as he looked to the Patriarch as he tried not to allow the surprise to show in his eye. ”Oh?” Really having Jefferson thinking about his did surprise him.

Bringing his body up the male kept his head low as he shook the water off his coat. ”But I fuh..fuh…fuh he…fear that I muh..muh..might fall to be tuh..tuh..tihme. Drugs, Drinking. I du..dun…don’t want to buh..buh…be them. I want tu…to be better th..the…thunem…them. Foolish? Maybe.” The male hated that he just put that upon the brown male’s shoulders but he was the leader to these lands and knew his mother and father, in more of their better times. If Jefferson had any idea how badly Noah did not want to be them and had any idea what Noah could do not to be them, he would take it. He wanted to be just another male that just blended in with the rest of the pack, he did not want to be the fool who feel away to drinking and jacking up his arms with the drugs. Much like his father and mother had, he also did not want to be an addicted to sex like his mother. But that would mean having sex; he was waiting on that special one.

Noah ducked into a position more cowardly than respectful at the sound of the gruff man's voice; it was no surprise, really, but had the boy no self-respect? Noah knew well that Jefferson hardly cared for excessive motions such as it, but it was not like Noah had done it solely to anger him—no, he was not his father. The scarred man knew better. A expression of sympathy passed over his tumultuous features and he flicked a thumb up at the sky—"Come on, cut that out,"—before turning his one-eyed gaze to the sea once more.

Noah stammered through a brief sentence, bringing a wince to the Patriarch's already sympathetic gaze, though turned away; what had Deuce and Lucifer done to this boy to traumatize him so? It was rare enough Jefferson felt such sentimentalities, let alone expose them to the average member. Only Geneva, DaVinci, Alaine and few others had seen the cyclops at his most raw; he would not make the mistake in front of Noah, even if showing his "human" side, so-to-say, might have aided the situation and their relationship. "You know my name, and it's not 'sire,'" he said, though his tone was more amused than disciplinary.

"Those are legitimate fears to have," the one-eyed idiot continued. "You're the only one that can keep them from happening. I'm your guardian, but not your keeper, and that goes for everyone else too." A brief smirk. "Trust me, it wouldn't take much to be 'better' than your parents. You're fortunate to have seen them at their worst first-hand. You know what to avoid... you just need to figure out how, hmm?"

Noah was not the type to do anything to make the one eye leader mad at him, fact Noah fear him and respected the male more than he had any one in his life that he had meet. The silver male stood back up shamed that he did make the one eye upset with the submission, it was something he was he was going to have to work on if the Patriarch would ever view him for anything more then what he was now. Noah every dream of being something more than just a stupid omega in any pack, but Jefferson had given him a chance, the silver male never thought he would have another chance, even after he made the stupid choice to run away from his mother’s protection. The male looked to the male as the words came from the leader’s mouth. It was nothing that was not earned, but to the silver male it was the first time anyone really had expressed a care for him as a being. ”Sorry Si…erm sorry Jefferson.” He was going to have to work hard at making sure to call the leader by his name and not Sire, or any other king royalty title, the male did not seem upset but Noah could see it did bother him when he called him that. It was confusion for Noah since Jefferson was the king of all these lands, and the entire member in this pack lived to protect him, as Jefferson would protect them.

”What did thu..thu..they do to uh..uh..ew…you?” For Jefferson to have that much hate for any one, they had to have done something to him. Noah knew his mother nor father where not that great of a being, but Noah accepted that sometimes fate deal you a bad hand, and it was up to the being to make the best out of these cards. Noah had seen both sides of his father, the one that had a want that he would stop at nothing to fill, and then there was the last side he saw of him. The side that Noah feared more than anything of turning into. Coming here wu..wuh..was my hope ou..ouh…of not being Hu..hu..uh..him Him yes, the one that Noah did not want to turn into more than anything.

Dooop dooop dooooop

Noah stammered and apologized as he always did; the cyclops made a face, though hardly a disappointed one. He sighed. "Let me make one thing clear, Noah," Jefferson said, in a sympathetic but charismatic tone, "I may lead here but I don't want to be treated like a king. I can't be treated like an equal or things would get out of hand in the ranks, but I don't want to be seen as far from that. We work together here; I just keep everything in line and make sure we're safe." His eye did not leave the ocean. "Just keep that in mind." Not a scolding in the least, of course, but perhaps more a friendly reminder.

At the mention of Lucifer and Deuce's acts, of course, the scarred man's expression hardened instantaneously. He resented them both, and in that he knew they worked well together; surely one would bring the other's downfall somewhere down the line, and hopefully at that point the cyclops would never hear from either of them again. He could only hope, on that note, but knew how unlikely it ever was. Deuce would continue her all-loving ways with as many males as she could find, and Lucifer would continue grumbling about it and pissing off everyone else around him.

So it goes.

"Well, let's see," Jefferson spat. "Iskata assigned me to watch over your father because he was a goddamn troublemaker, and all he did was piss and moan about nothing in particular. At the time I guessed he had issues with authority, but now I figure he's just a downright idiot." A pause, bitter in even its silence. "As for your mother, there is the fact that she dumped an entire pack on my shoulders so she could go frolic in the fields with Lucifer hoping to start another pack. When that didn't work, she didn't even come back here. Oh, no. She dumped your father and went to Dahlia de Mai to frisk my half-brother, complain and disappear again."

At Noah's final words, Jefferson hose not to respond quite yet.
