It had been almost a good, long week since she had left. During the duration of the trip it had snowed twice, and there was already a dangerously thick blanket on the ground. Before she left, Ever had packed up a small amount of useful things and said a temporary good-bye to the few helping at the stable and of course, Ezra. She had kissed him long enough to still feel his lips against hers on the fourth day out.

Ever had spent days tracking a wild horse heard in the Northern base of Halcyon Mountain. She could have stuck to the hills closer to home, but the thick rock and shrub was where the thicker horse breeds flourished, and she wasn’t just out there for fun. The silver girl was out there on request from a friend she had met only recently. Valinta had been passionately into horses and her and Ever bonded quickly upon that shared interest. Without a second thought, the youth set out to get her new acquaintance a companion.

Saphraine was wickedly spirited the whole trip for he could sense their coming to his homeland. Ever didn’t restrain his excitement, only until they finally entered stallion territory. She followed several herds for 4 days until approaching a rare group of large freckled Appaloosas. This was what Valinta wanted. Another half day was carefully thrown away observing the best of the patch. Of course, the stallion.

Having a natural horse sense, Ever had caught the Appaloosa as easily as she had tamed Saphraine, if you would call destiny being tamed. The trip back went slowly, and Ever feverishly wondered if her family back home were worried at her disappearance. This wasn’t the first time she had left for a great amount of time.

Soon familiar grounds eased underfoot which sent the 3 charging for the edge of Cercatori. They approached cautiously, never forgetting her accidental encounter with the Leader. She was late, Ever knew, but the herds were drawn closer to the mountain instead of the sea. As much as both the golden steed and girl wished to turn towards their own pack, they couldn’t contain the excitement of setting the Appaloosa in the rightful hands.

Ever secretly hoped Valinta and the stallion would make a bond. She pated his deep freckled withers from atop Saphraine and stared into the open plains of their neighboring pack. Hearing the virgin stallion sigh strongly, Ever smiled. She pulled her second favorite riding dress closer to her body as a bare wind raked across the exposed land. There were no trees or hills to block the worst of it like in Miracles.

Valinta had been waiting by the border of Cercatori every day since Ever had left in search of a horse for her. It was probably the most excited and impatient the young female had ever been, and when she saw the stallion that Ever rode, Valinta literally jumped with joy. She couldn't wait to see Ever again and thank her, and meet her new horse.
Wondering what would be a good name for the horse, despite not having seen him yet, Valinta raised her arm in greeting to Ever. She was coming down a small hill with Saphraine and another horse.
He was a tall one, Valinta could tell. She'd need to practice mounting and dismounting or risk falling on her face. And she'd need to get a brush ready, and get him settled into the stable.
But first, meeting him was important. And there he was. A tall, silver-white stallion with black spots. He was beautiful. Dalmatian was the first thing Valinta thought of him, and that would be his name.
Dalmatian. It fit, in a way.
Stepping forward slowly, Valinta reached out and touched his nose. He knickered and stepped forward, and Valinta took this as acceptance. She rested her forehead onto his, and smiled as she stroked his cheeks.
She loved him. Dalmatian the horse was amazing. Letting go of him, Valinta threw her arms around Ever and giggled. Thank you Ever! she squealed. He's amazing!

She saw the dark pelted girl approaching almost immediately against the periwinkle sky. Her excitement was uncontained and her arm shot up in a greeting quicker than the fast moving clouds. Ever waved tiredly in return and urged the horses on.

Saphraine was a tall stallion, and this Appaloosa was no acceptation. He was nearly as tall as her golden steed and surely the right height for Valinta. Silently watching, the silver girl let a smile slip onto her exhausted features. It grew as soon as the bond was clearly made. Ever dismounted with a furious grace and stood beside both horses.

Sorry I am late, the herd moved and I had a little difficulty tracking them.

The girl said, pleased that her voice masked her slight disorientation from the ride. But before she could even analyze her friend’s reaction, she was swept up into a meaningful hug. She mimicked the dark wolves squeal of delight, forgetting her sudden tiredness.

Of course! If you need any help with training just let me know,

Ever said carefully, patting Saphraine’s golden withers with a black hand.

These wild stallions take a bit of certitude and affection to mount.

She would know. From experience with her steed, it had taken many weeks of waiting until they had both felt ready. They shared a strong and deep connection that brought out the best of the youth’s natural horse skills which had come out of nowhere.

Ever grew up in the mountains which are where she had assumed her natural equine instincts came from. At the first moment she had been connected with a horse, which was on her father’s in the emergency case, she had no idea what she was doing, just what she needed to do. Since then, Ever had needed that rich feeling from equines.
