-- ; His longing pools of blue stared out across the horizon, well-trained nose searching for a trace of scent. "Something." "Anything.."
The canines expression drifted to it's usual downcast, under-the-weather sort. With a light step forward, his journey continued on worn paw-pads toward whatever was out there. For days Tempest had been searching for a place he'd only heard of in whispers and hushed tones. The wolf pack, Dahlia de Mai. A sudden movement near his left flank caused him to swivel around, ears perked and dust accumulating from his paw movements against the dry earth. "W-What? Whossat?" In a tuft of grass nearly 5 feet away, was a hare. His salivary glands knocked off the dust and he painfully remembered how hungry he was. The wolf had instinctively felt the breeze, and understood that only he could smell the rabbit. The rabbit could not smell him. His pup sense of spirit dumbed down his intellect, and with a push of his haunches he was sprinting toward the prey, kicking up the soil in his path. The trickster of a hare had soon after split the scene, and a cat and mouse chase had begun.

Tearing down through a path of vivid greens and color accents, Tempest had become overwhelmed by tantalizing scent trails and the warm welcoming earth at his paws. For a second, the task at hand had slipped his mind. What rabbit? -- His hind became entangled in a low branch, and from there he wasn't quite sure what had happened. Tumbling downhill in a heap of fur and dirt, the teenage wolf had turned from a pristine white to brown, twinged with green from brambles and leaves stuck in his coat. He'd come to a rough stop, realizing only now his legs had taken him further than intended. Regaining his footing and state of mind, he breathed in a waft of air and his fur stood on end. "This scent.. what is it?" A timid whisper was all he could manage. Had he finally found what he had been searching for? The feeling of electricity surging across his skin, breath fueling the fire within him.. this had to be it. "I've finally found you.." Without further hesitation, he knew he would need to draw attention to himself to communicate with the pack. Tipping his head back and howling, he let the sound resonate through his maw and into the breeze like a heart-wrenching symphony.

Saluce spent that day wandering along in his Optime form, fully dressed in his two Swords which hung about each flanking side of his hip, along with the dagger tucked away on a calf. The impressive visage of this dark grey male was that of a warrior, and he damn well wanted people to know it too. The day was boring and a lazy one, and he had contemplated returning back home to retire for the day. But about the time he was about to do so his ears picked up on the foreign howl. For a moment he debated on answering it, there were others just like him who was capable of doing it now but it had been awhile since he had answered such a request. So his body moved in the direction of the call, it wasn’t too far and his body moved swiftly on two legs to reach them.

His arms crossed around his chest as his blue hues took in the stranger to their lands, looking across the younger male with a fine eye, judging and taking in what type of wolf this stranger was. Always prepared he kept his distance for now to figure out what the purpose of this visit was about. Patience was something he normally had endless amounts of as his sturdy form kept silent gazing across at the individual, noticing every little detail, the mud across his coat, the brambles still stuck in the coat. Another poor helpless soul and maybe even a useless one this time.

“I am Saluce of Dahlia De Mai, what is it I can assist you with?” he asked calmly.

For moments, he had let his voice echo dismally across the plain. Closing his muzzle he sat and waited patiently allowing the thought of a brave warrior approaching him play through his wild imagination. A sudden realization struck him. What exactly was it that he had to do to join the Dahlia de Mai pack? Act polite, submit, and show that he had purpose. That was all he'd known. Proper etiquette was key in this situation. The wolf dug his claws into the earth in anticipation.

A voice struck him off guard, and he turned in the direction it had came from. His eyes became instantaneously downcast after taking a glimpse of the figure before him. In an attempt to keep his voice steady, yet not assertive, he replied with a nod. "I traveled here in hope to join your pack." Tempest had become submissive before the other male, his head slightly down, ears half-pinned backward and tail tight between his legs that tried ever so hard not to quiver. Not knowing what else to put into notion, he patiently waited for a reply and allowed his mind to wander further into the wonders of the Dahlia de Mai wolf pack.

Saluce watched him with interest, he seemed not hardly old enough to travel, and as his eyes studied him he wondered why anyone would come so far on what someone said of their pack. Again the thoughts slowly trickled through his mind, did they really stand for something, is that why so many wanderers found their way here. Silently he stood there, having heard the request, and deciding to mull it over in his head a bit. Everything was a test, he wanted to test this boys patience, wanted to see how long he’d sit there all submissive before seeking an answer to his request. If he proved to be of some worth Saluce would almost take him into his own care and finish raising the boy into a man, it seemed a common theme with him. Take in a young male and train them, teach them a trade and then be honored when they joined the rank he shared or even higher. A deep inhale of air could be heard before he moved up to the boy.

Kneeling down his blue eyes looked over him, checking to make sure he wasn’t famished or in poor health. Strays where a common theme here and most of them came in some terrible condition and needed looking after.

“What is your name young one?” he had hoped he would have already answered that question but his struggle to show a submissive side seemed to have dominated his mind. A hand reached out to lift up his chin to look him in the eye. Saluce never cared much for submissive gestures, he cared to determine the truth in the others eyes.

“And why do you wish to join this pack?” he asked wanting an answer.

He'd tipped his head and stared nervously at the ground, expecting to be scolded or grumbled at for his sloppy behavior. Tremors of anxiety ran across his spine, and the little wolf had no idea what was to come of this day. A stern hand was placed under his chin, angling his head upward to where his eyes met the opposing pools of blue much like his own. "My name? Tempest."

He spoke as calmly as possible. His days of travelling along side a band of drifters would hopefully come to an end. It had been survival of the fittest up to this point, picking at scraps of food and chewing on the acrid berries from the underbrush. His paw-pads were worn, and his body physically drained, but his spirits and hopes were through the roof. In reply to the question from Saluce, he spoke. "I heard of a pack that was full of strong and talented wolves." It took a lot of brain-power to put sentences together in decent literacy. "I was for sure this pack was the right place for me." Unfortunately, he began to ramble on and on. "I can fend for myself.. mostly. I can track and and.. I've got a good sniffer!" His white tuft of fur for a tail began to sway eagerly behind him. Although Tempests exterior seemed much like a .. marshmallow, he was strong-willed and a fine warrior-in-training. Somewhere inside he had hoped Saluce would see through to that.

A eyebrow raised slightly at the mention of his name. He knew the meaning but never paid it much attention as far as naming someone that. His hand left as he continued to speak, Saluce taking it all in stride as his impressive frame raised back up to stand. Eager as they always where, maybe he’d pair him with Saul and attempt to see how much Saul had learned so far, along with his ability to teach as well. Broad shoulders twitched in annoyance as his arms crossed once again, deep in thought as always. The boy couldn’t offer much, nor could he really at his age.

“I do not care what you can do know, since your so young, I want to know what you intend to do when you grow up?” his voice was stern but not uncaring. The dark gray male was not the nicest person in the world and emotions came hard to him. One emotion he knew very well and that was anger, and that emotion he seemed to have buckets of. Still eyes studied the young male with intrigue, he’d accept him none the less but he decided he’d test him none the less.

He'd shuttered under the other males deep, demanding voice. His future? The though crept and pilled into his young mind, and vivid images of himself as a strong and powerful wolf tromped in it's path. Tempest had always been a dreamer. An aspirer. Such thoughts would tumble around his brain during his time alone. He'd seemed to have a lot of that in the past few weeks. What the young wolf enjoyed most was tracking. A nose like his at almost 6 months old was something he was proud of. Heck, maybe he even led the band of drifters he'd followed right to their dinner once or twice. And it did bring him here, after all.

"I want to be a tracker." He piped. "When I'm big and strong like you.." The little wolf peered up at the mighty canine before him. Saluce was a prime example of what he wanted to be. "I might be no use now, but.. I need a teacher!" This new idea had never occurred to him before, and perhaps a teacher was just what he had needed. To mold and sculpt him into what he wanted to be. Sharpen his talents and train his abilities further. "I'm built for winter, too! My fur is thick and I can blend into the snow." He'd went cross eyed, looking at the dark stripe of gray running up his maw from nose to center-forehead. "Well.. mostly."

He considered the words carefully, a tracker, Dahlia already had one. Nayru had proven to be more then he had ever hoped she would be in that area and now it seemed another pupil was at his door step. Somehow he wondered if this was his destiny, to teach young wolves how to grow up. But that was a bit presumptuous he gathered, no he enjoyed it even if he didn’t have any little ones of his own running around. Now though he had the daunting task of this new find, and he wasn’t sure if they understood just what he’d offer them.

“So you want to learn how to track? Well several wolves in this pack are very good at that. I happen to know one. My current pupil maybe very interested in meeting you if you wish to continue with your request to join us” His arms uncrossed as he made a step toward his home, as he looked back at the young wolf.

“You can join me at my home and shop if you wish, until you find your own place to stay” it was a simple matter, if he wished to join he could, he need only take the steps into Dahlia and it was done.

As simple as that? Tempest was gloriously excited, and he had nodded his head quickly in agreement to Saluce's notion after soaking up what the other had said. "T-Thank you!" Looking nervously from the ground and back up to the skeptical eyes of his new acquaintance, he took small paces forward across what he had established as Dahlia de Mais border. "It really is an honor. I hope to do you well here, and become of some use as quickly as possible." Sifting it through his mind, the little wolf realized that a heavy burden was lifted from his shoulders and perhaps he would finally attain a stable home. He hoped to make new friends and meet the wolf Nayru that Saluce had mentioned. Tempest felt deep in his heart that Dahlia de Mai had to offer just what he needed.

Without further hesitation, he'd followed Saluce into the territory. Wondrous smells and sounds filled and played with his senses and he tried to look as brave as possible, brushing off how nervous he truly was. How would things go form here? He assumed his new guide would allow him to stay at his shop, and soak up a routine. Hopefully he would fit in. He wanted nothing more than to fit in.

Saluce walked patiently as the young pup followed him, hands behind his back, escorting him through Dahlian outskirts and into the main portion of the land. Winter buried much of the splendor or the lands in a blanket of white, back dropped against the deep browns and blacks of leafless trees. This new charge seemed to give him another purpose, and another reason to continue within Dahlia. After they had traveled a bit he stopped to look at the young boy for a moment.

“What happened to your parents Tempest? Why have you been traveling alone at such a young age?” he was interested to know. Saluce was if anything a father to just about anyone who came under his wing and sometimes he couldn’t understand why any mother or father would abandon a child such as this one? Arms crossed once again before he started off back to his home, where he intended to keep the boy until he was old enough.

“You can stay with me for now. Winter is rough on young wolves, I’ll expect you to keep your room tidy and for you to meet the wolves of Dahlia. I want you to come to me if anyone gives you any trouble.” The rules where set, he wouldn’t lord over the boy too much, knowing he needed to be able to enjoy being young as much as possible.
