For whoever wants to come corrupt my baby Maggie :3 preferably people that expressed interest in the request thread I had created, HOWEVER anyone is open to it! Yaaaaaay corruption. Sorry for Maggie being so whiny. XD

It was like her own mother had punched her in the face.

So Lolita, Foxglove, and Poppy had gone. Any sort of idea of a family Magnolia was brought up to believe she had been completely destroyed. The worst part was that Poppy and Foxglove had chosen to follow their traitorous mother away from here as well. Magnolia couldn’t wrap her head around her sisters leaving. There was no reason to go, Pappa Niro could take care of them. Well, despite the fact that she barely knew her own mirror-image father, she believed in him. She was always happy to see him, and he was always so warm and loving in return. She had been dropped off like a piece of luggage to her father, with only a small goodbye from her mother. Poppy and Foxglove left without a word to her; Maggie knew they were cowards anyway. She never wanted to see them again. So screw them. Good riddance. Magnolia Monroe did not need any sisters or mother.

Her new home was in a completely different area. She knew no one, didn’t feel like meeting anyone, and didn’t want to play with anyone. The silvery girl spent most of her days hiding from her father until she felt like going back home. She was older now, and could hunt for herself, and didn’t need anyone. She would never call a place home unless her mother returned for her. Magnolia never wanted to step foot in this god-forsaken place again.

So she had run. Run for days until her little feet couldn’t carry her anymore. She ran until she didn’t recognize anything anymore and until lines of tears down her face felt like they would be permanently there. She had cried, oh how she cried the night Lolita left. Despite her mother’s strange and sometimes unsatisfying role in her life, she couldn’t believe that she had actually left. The little one felt completely alone for the first time in her life. She never thought this day would come. Maggie had always dreamed of seeing her dad more, but always under the careful supervision of Lolita of course. Never being forced to uproot and forget everything she had learned to love and call her own, at the expense of seeing her father more.

It was getting dark. The wind made the trees sway, just like they always did. It wasn’t a particularly cold wind, but the trees battering against one another made the little one stop and think about where she was going for the first time in hours since waking up. She was in the middle of nowhere. Maggie finally stopped her slow pace of walking and sat on the side of a tree. A mountain was in front of her, one that she had never seen before. The little girl looked at it curiously for a moment before going back to crying. She was alone, miserable, tired, and cold. She just wanted her momma back. But there was nothing she could do anymore to change that.

On some days Larkspur did nothing but ride. He found that the snow was treacherous on horseback, but he had since determined the best places to go. As nightfall came, though, he circled back towards the caves. Even though he was built for such weather (thanks to the father who hated him) his horse was not. Still, she had grown in a winter coat and seemed to do all right during their rides. They traveled the low parts of Anathema’s territory almost daily, looking for nothing in particular. Initially he had kept his eyes open for Misery, but a part of him believed that she had become a ghost—that what he saw had only been her shade, not her true form. He had not seen her in months now. Trotting back through the snow, the mare snorted and shook her mane. They had been lucky so far, but the wind had picked up in the past hour. It was not a biting wind, but enough to make him turn in.

Yet as he moved towards the caves a high pitched wailing made him perk up. He stopped the horse and lifted his ears, searching for the source of the sound. It wasn’t that far, but he was having trouble narrowing it down with the wind. His horse snorted loudly and stamped a foot against the snow. “Easy,” he warned her, but there was no malice in his voice.

Plodding steps slowly got louder and louder in front of the silvery little girl. Green eyes squinted in the darkening light to find the source of the sound. A cream colored beast with frosted breath slowly made its way over to where the girl lay on her stomach, doing her best to hide. Despite her attempt to hide, audible whines mixed with terror and cold escaped her mouth. The little one stared up at the great creature which was off to her right, and momentarily stopped crying. She had never seen that type of animal before. It took Magnolia ages to figure out something else was on top of it, and at the realization she let out an audible gasp.

A gust of winter wind reminded her that her toes were beginning to freeze, and she finally decided to get out of ‘hiding’. The silvery pup let out a very childish whimper before resuming crying, this time wasting no energy to hide those cries. Magnolia looked up at the black figure in front of her, truly amazed. She wanted to get his attention to help her, but instead she just sat there, helpless and cold.

To his surprise, the noise was coming from a small puppy that wiggled out from under a bush. Larkspur narrowed his eyes. She was not one of the ones he recognized as Anathema’s property (for in his mind children were things first, people later) and clearly upset. He swung from the back of the horse in a smooth motion, dropping into the snow. Larkspur was not particularly fond of children, but he had made exceptions. Harlowe had failed miserably, and the harlequin girl had shown potential. It was a shame she still lived with a weak alpha guiding her.

“C’mere,” he said flatly, his pelt rippling like the horses as it tried to shake away the cold. “Yer gonna freeze t’death out here.” If she belonged somewhere else he would return her after the wind subsided. Naniko was a woman, and he doubted she’d have an issue with a puppy being saved from death. It was one of the weakness’ of the fairer sex.

The little one had been taken by surprise when the hulking figure found her. But honestly, she didn’t know what to expect. She was crying rather loudly, so she was bound to be caught exactly. Maggie finally stood up on all four legs, attempting to shake off the cold at the same time. Her tiny feet were freezing and until the wind hit her again she hadn’t realized how cold the night had gotten. Magnolia was wary of the man and his company, but decided being warm was a good option right now. “Sorry,” she mumbled, still sniffling. “ I ran away from home,” she said even quieter than before. This stranger would hopefully understand, or (she prayed) take her to warmth.

ooc: Minor powerplay to move this along. ^^

Ran away. He understood that all too well. Larkspur had done the same as a boy, but he never ran far. The mountains of the Khalif were unforgiving and after he had gotten lost he had ran home, scared and upset. No one comforted him then. At least he could grant her that sympathy, having been there himself once. “Let’s git inside,” he grunted, bending down to scoop her up. Though the girl squirmed some, he wasted little time propping her up on the horses’ saddle. “Don’t move so much,” Larkspur said gruffly, climbing up behind her. With the reigns in one hand as to keep his little companion steady, the trio headed towards the caves.

No worries :3 I hope this is okay as well, I dont know the layout of anathema very well XD

Magnolia had been scooped up, and despite the temperature outside, the girl still squirmed against him. She hadn’t been expecting it and wasn’t sure how to react. Gut instinct told her to get the hell away, but after she was placed on the saddle, she stopped moving so much. The stranger got on the horse behind her which comforted Maggie some. She stayed quiet as the horse swiftly made its way to its home. Magnolia looked down at her feet the whole time, keeping herself as steady as possible on the horse’s back. After a bit of time, the entrance to a cave appeared before the three of them. Nervous, Magnolia finally whipped her head around to see her savior. “Where are we?” Magnolia said quietly, her nervousness apparent in her voice. “D-do you know how to get back to Cour des Miracles?”

ooc: Caves n'junk. Big Grin Check the map, they're going into the horsey-area if you want to say that happens.

His horse moved with a stubborn speed that told the rider she was uncomfortable in the wind. Despite the fact her kind were used to such weather, the horse had become accustomed to living in the caves and favored their protection. She was a creature unlike her fellows, having been stunted socially when raised by wolves. The puppy was worried, and this too he felt—especially when she turned to face him. “Anathema,” he explained. “Don’t worry, my…leader…she’s got kids too. We’ll take care of ya until this passes n’then git ya home.”

Sorry for taking forever. :< hope this description is fine (I looked at the map and figured going in the main entrance was the best way to go?), maybe while Larkspur is putting the horse’s stuff away they can talk a bit about Anathema then fade to black?

Magnolia stood eerily still on the back of the horse, determined to not fall off. The little one’s insides, however, were another story. She was shivering, frightened, and only now realizing the poor choice she made running away from Cour des Miracles and Niro, which made her uneasy. But the depressed little pup couldn’t help herself. She didn’t understand why she was forced to be in a place such as the Kingdom that she didn’t want to be in. It was too difficult for such a young pup to understand the troubles of being an adult.

As the horse continued its way into the caverns, Maggie’s lime green eyes squinted and slowly adjusted to the dark interior. As if on autopilot the fair-haired horse wound down the caverns to his home. Maggie’s eyes were full of wonder as she took in the caves around her. The cavern suddenly grew into an enormous room, with a few wolves foreign to Maggie lounging around. Silver mouth gaped at how large it was, still silent and awestruck, truly amazed at what she had stumbled across.

The horse eventually turned left into a thinner hallway, which eventually led to yet another large room full of horses. How peculiar! This truly was a revelation to the little girl, who had only learned about horses moments before. Her brain hurt thinking about the new land she had come across; it was completely different from the Kingdom or her birthplace. After a while the animal beneath Maggie stopped moving, as if awaiting instructions from the dark male beside her. Magnolia took it as a sign to jump off the saddle, which she did, and ended up rather ungracefully on the ground. Trying to salvage herself, she quickly turned to the male, and gave him a bewildered look. “This place is amazing,” The little one said quietly, taking in everything her little green eyes could find.

One more reply each and we'll be done? Big Grin

The wolf dismounted after the girl, and began undoing the saddle buckle that held the leather thing on his horse’s back. His ears swiveled to listen to the girl’s voice, though his hands worked with speed that had come from practice. He dropped the saddle and blanket unceremoniously on the ground and pulled the bridle from the mare’s mouth. Free, she trotted into the pen with the others. Larkspur bent to grab his saddle and placed it one of the wooden beams that had been constructed for such a purpose.

“This is jus’ where th’ horses live,” he told her flatly, unimpressed by the cave system since he had been living in it so long. Free of his supplies, the wolf began heading further into the mountain. “There’s a lot of other caves in here, n’that’s where everyone lives. This,” he said as they entered into the large main room. “Is kinda a common area. If y’wait here I’ll find y’some food,” the dark male added, disappearing into another room. In a few moments he had returned with a small rabbit, obviously caught sometime the night before due to its stiffness. “Here,” he went on, dropping to sit next to her. “N’how ‘bout y’tell me why y’ran away?”

sounds good!

The little girl sat in awe while she watched the dark-hued male take care of the horse and put it away for the night. Silver mouth slightly agape in childish wonder, she took in the great room before her. Magnolia had no real idea of caves before this moment, but she sure as hell liked them. The idea of being lost in a world completely hidden underground fascinated the Princess and made her want to stay in the damp caverns forever. Suddenly, food appeared in front of her, and the exhausted girl gobbled the prize up almost instantly. When her belly had been satiated, Magnolia remembered the male’s question. “I…uh,” she said stupidly, still in awe of her surroundings. “I don’t like being at home anymore. I used to live in Dahlia with my momma, and then she ran away with my sisters and dumped me at that stupid Kingdom with my dad Niro. I hate being there, I hate my dad, I hate my mom for leaving me.” she said quickly, short and to the point. She would be happy if she never had to return to the Kingdom, despite the fact that she knew Niro would worry endlessly about her. “Can I stay here? I don’t want to go home,”

Feel free to say that he talked with her some more and that he let her stay with him and his family. So she'll have met Eris and the puppies, wheee. Smile

He listened to her explanation, face betraying his emotions in regards to Dahlia de Mai. Larkspur believed with certainty that his old pack was weak, and listening to the puppy explain her mother’s abandonment only echoed his own childhood within him. Yet she lived with a father, albeit one she hated, and oh how desperately she looked to stay in this cavernous underground. His orange eyes gleamed in the firelight, debating such a thing.

“We can’t keep y’here,” he said flatly, leaning to rest crossed arms on his knees. “Y’stay tonight n’I’ll take y’home in the mornin’. Maybe once yer older n’ya thought ‘bout it some more,” the wolf added. “Joining Anathema ain’t like joinin’ another pack, though. When y’join here, y’become family.
