for never or forever

It had been a quiet morning, at least for the most part, aside from the occasional family members coming to and leaving the den at different points. You Ember had been spending the majority of her morning outside, despite the fact that it was a bit chilly. The sun shone down from high in the sky though, giving a warmth to whoever might take a moment to stop and sit still, though it was especially that way for her due to her dark coat. That meant that each time she became cold during her play she'd stop and let the sun warm her through and then proceed with what she'd been doing before, which consisted mostly of chasing random bugs or attacking the small patches of grass that covered the ground.

As the day progressed and the sun rose to it's highest point in the sky, Ember became bored with playing alone. Games were always fun but when played alone for to long they became boring and pointless and, perhaps, she found herself getting a bit lonely. Turning from her spot just a few feet from the den, the young onyx girl made a break for the entrance, paws thumping excitedly against the ground as she went. Paws brought her skidding to a clumsy stop once she managed to make it inside, bright green eyes staring through in one quick sweep. She didn't see him right off but that didn't mean he wasn't somewhere farther inside the den. "Ikywus!" The girl called out, tail moving in a raging wag behind her as she yelled for her brother.

Thanks for starting this. :]

--> While everyone else had been coming and going, Icarus had decided to spend a day indoors. He was forbidden to leave Storm’s ground, and there had been only so much he could do now. He longed to break out and travel out away from Storm – the world was so big and waiting for him to explore it! But he knew that that just wasn’t going to happen in the near future. And because of that, today he chose to stay inside and inclusively pout. Dad had been too busy with other things to really notice, while Mamma had told him to get some fresh air. He thought the den air was doing him just fine. And laying where he was for the remainder of the day didn’t bother him one bit. It was nice and quiet. And no one had bothered him all day.

--> Until Ember came along. His small dark brown frame was curled into a tiny ball, preserving the warmth he had built up while sleeping all day. When his name rang out, he was reluctant to open his eyes and move to see just who it was. It was apparent it was Ember though, since Icarus could tell by her voice. He just wasn’t sure what she wanted so badly that she had to disturb him.

--> "Whadaya want?" The pup moaned, blinking his Sadira blue eyes as his sister ventured further into the den. Deep inside he would be happy to go and play with her, but at the same time he was determined to keep an apathetic front. He wanted everyone to know that he was miserable and that it was all because of Daddy and Mama’s stupid rules.

You can shoot me now, thx.

There wasn't ever a moment where young Ember had felt anything but happy, even when she and her father had gone to visit the grave of his friend, so it was no surprise to see that she was just as chipper as ever. Barreling through the den, she didn't stop until she found her brother there. "Ikywus!" She squealed out again, skidding to a stop near his laying form. "Les play!" Ember had, of course, taken note of the lazy sort of mood he seemed to be in, curled there and laying as if he hadn't moved an inch all day.

Instead of standing there and nagging him, Ember dropped her whole body to the ground and scooted nearer to her brother until the point that she was pressed right up against him. Turning her head to him, she smiled a rather innocent smile and looked rather interested in the concept of just laying there for the time. What was the point of it though? "Whatchu doin?" She asked suddenly, her thirst for knowledge and understanding suddenly taking over. What exactly was he achieving by laying up in the den all day without even going out to play once?

indent The boy ignored his sister as she came over to him, demanding that he become a playmate. With energy wasted on his ealier comment, he found no use in replying to her. After all, he didn’t want to tempt himself. It was hard to stay pouty all day, but he was determined to keep it up. He wanted daddy and mama to feel bad for imposing these new rules on him, though his young mind didn’t understand that it was for his well being.

indent He didn’t budge even as his sister lay next to him. Though he began to feel slightly agitated with her presence there with him, the urge to play with her and have a companion made it hard for him to bad mouth her. With her next question, Icarus slowly turned his lazy head to look at her. "Whas it look like?" He groaned, though his tail couldn’t help but wag softly. Then he grinned a little and leaned in closer. "I wanna make daddy feel bad for scoldin’ me. He don’t know that I can take care of myself. I wan him tah know that he ain’t being fair. Him or moma. Why?"

Maybe he was just to tired to play. Perhaps he'd stayed up allll night like Momma and Papa had always told them not to do and now he was sleepy during the day time. Whatever the case, it seemed to her like he wasn't about to get up and run out to go play, which was why she'd made herself comfortable in the den with him. Her brother seemed almost sad really, though there was something there that made her wonder whether or not it was true. He spoke again, a question, and Ember gave a slight shrug of her shoulders in response to it. It was obvious what he was doing and, being the curious child that she was, she was more interested in his reasons for it rather than what exactly he was doing.

Everything was quick to change though, she felt the slight wave of his tail as it moved in a slow motion back and forth and then the grin on his face only told her that he was up to something. When he leaned in she knew in that moment that he was going to share and, suddenly filled with excitement, she leaned in just a bit, as if it would make him tell her faster. It was brilliant, really, his plan, but not something that Ember would ever figure or do on her own. A small giggle was released, kept hushed as to keep his plan secret. "Ah can he'p!" She whispered quietly and with that she began. It was glorious, really, the sudden sad face that she was able to force. Huge green eyes that just sparkled and the small pout, nothing over dramatic, that easily tied it all together. Certainly no one could resist both of them.

indent Icarus normally would have told his sister to leave him alone so that he could pout on his own, but lately he had been feeling a little bit more of an attraction towards his sister Ember in the way that he didn’t like when she was away from his sights for too long. He was afraid that sooner or later all of his siblings would end up gone. And that terrified him. So instead, he laid there next to his sister, trying to suppress the smile that threatened to form on his small lips. Momma or Daddy needed to take notice soon, though, considering Icarus was starting to fall more towards admitting defeat. With the prospect of playing with his sister, he couldn’t help be feel antsy lying still like this.

indent "Hey Ember. Yah wanna go outside an’ play? We can make daddy know he ain’t bein’ fair later. I jus’ wanna go play right now," he told her as he lifted himself to his paws for the first time that day. Instead of feeling the fatigue that he had let overrun his body that morning, he was instantly charged. He felt that he could play for hours with his sister, and he only hoped that she would want to as well.
