The sun parted over the trees as it made its climb over the sky, warming the cold trees to soften their burden of the chilly snow that laid thickly over the ground. Though the normal forests sound occurred, they seemed faint, as if winter dimmed their mood that will soon liven again when spring comes. But, a steady rhythm of paws crunching against the snow disturbed the near silence, echoing nosily off the trees. It was obviously a canine, and a Luperci at that in its Optime form. She was adorned with a few items, one of them were clothing; a thin, dirty shirt covered its torso, and a short pair of tattered pants. Whoever this Luperci was, it was clear to see that she was a traveler, and her destination was soon in its reach by the way she was hurrying.

With a twitch of her nose and a excited wag of her tail, she again stopped, and looked over what was before her. A tree, probably the biggest she had ever seen, towered above her head; she let out a low whistle as she titled her head back to have a gander at the top. It was decorated with colorful items. Some was bright paint, all the colors under the sun, and others were drawings, so many bearing so many things that the wolf-dog could not name them all under a few minutes. It was here that the young woman was heading, and she finally made it, or at least half of it. Reaching this great tree was only half the journey, and now Elaine Lovato had to patient for the rest to come to her.

She unslung one of the items that cling to her body easily, as if she practiced the movement many times and had no trouble removing it from her shoulders. Elaine adjusted her grip on the item, one hand on its neck and the other near the other end, hovering over a hole that was indented in the wooden object; it was obviously a guitar. The wolf-dog thought she could maybe past the time and also impress these wolves with her ability to play the instrument, and began to strum away. At first, it was a quiet murmur, much like the sound of the forest, but then it picked up rhythm and speed. In no time at all, she was playing a simple melody, one she knew by heart, and anyone near by would hear her playing the instrument.

I remember you from the chat; welcome to Souls! Big Grin Just one thing; your birthdate for your character says that she's about one year, but your profile says she's 19! ^^ 19 would be a pretty old age for a dog, so I think you meant that she was 8 months, like her birthdate says!

It was a chilly day, as Skye noted, and she had dressed quite warmly for the day that cried white, cold tears. The soft crunch of the snow beneath her paws was evident in the relative silence of the forest - it sounded strange to her, as she was used to the chirping of various birds and the cries of creatures in the Cercatori d'Arte territory. The silent and heavenly snow was falling, now, silencing the animal's songs and capturing the beauty of winter in a single, dreamlike snapshot.

There was music, however - a soft, low strumming. Skye recognized the sound immediately - it was the sound of someone playing the guitar. Letting her ears guide her, she found herself drifting closer and closer to the Border Tree, where the pack of Cercatori d'Arte had painted their name and decorated with their talents. Soon, her nose caught up to her ears, and she could scent the scent of a wolf-dog nearby; she was female. She didn't scent of any pack, however, and Skye assumed that she was a loner.

Emerging from the trees, Skye finally saw who was the woman; she was a caramel-colored woman, her fur deep shades of mocha that Skye had only seen on the trees as autumn turned into winter. Her tawny coat turned more brown towards the tips of her ears, tip of the tail, and her paws. She had a guitar in her hands and now transformed the light strumming into a more solid and loud melody, one that Skye enjoyed.

The creamy-white woman listened for a while, letting a smile fall on her face. She then stepped forward, towards the girl. She was young, it appeared - no more than a year old at least. She decided to introduce herself; "Hello," she said. "This is Cercatori d'Arte, and I am Skye Collins, the co-leader. May I help you?" She kept her demeanor light and friendly, and her tail held high.

[html]OCC: Sorry for the confusion. D: I fixed it up so that it makes better sense and is closer to her age.

Elaine barely taken notice of the cold. Both of her parents had thick coats, and obviously the Lovato had taken her fair share of both of their hair lengths; her various shades of brown fur covered her body in heavy layers, and it only taken thin clothes like she was wearing currently to be unable to feel the cold at all. In fact, she enjoyed this time of year, while others would sometime loath it. Sure, hunting was hard, but every season had it hardships and Elaine had accepted it and learned to appreciate the better things. She liked it when it snowed like now, and the gentle, yet brisk winds that flows through her fur whenever she runs, making her feel like a pup again; Elaine sighed at those memories, but focused back to guitar playing.

It was not before long did she scent someone approach, making her dark mocha tipped ears perk forward. But, Elaine continue to play as if the woman did not take notice of Skye, her eyes still watching her fingers move smooth over the instrument. But, just as the Cercatori d'Arte wolf had exited from the trees, the music started to loose speed and volume, and it was clear that she was reaching the end of the song. She strummed a few more notes that tied together the ending, and let them ring into the air as they slowly faded. As quickly as she took it off before, she slung the guitar back over her shoulder, and smiled to the woman.

She seemed to be about the Lovato's age, though Skye seemed to be older by a few months. She was a creamy wolf with light patches of brown and white. What Elaine thought to stood out the most was her ginger "hair", and she thought that it nice and balanced out her mainly white-and-cream appearance. She herself probably looked like a wolf in dog's clothing; though her structure looked wolf, her own fur pattern was that of a German Shepherd dog. The wolf-dog wondered if maybe this female was also half wolf and dog, or maybe a different hybrid, but it seemed that she was a wolf with no other kind of blood.

"My name is Elaine Lovato, Skye Collins. I was interested if I was able to join Cercatori d'Arte,"she informed her busy here, taking a little bow in respect to the co-leader. Elaine practiced what she would say at the borders, and was trying to keep calm over the nervousness and excitement that tired to take over her.

Okay, that's fine! ^^

Skye was delighted that the guitar player wanted to join her pack - she loved the guitar, and valued all those who play it. Besides, it seemed that she would be a good member of the pack, and she was glad that during the winter, her pack was not shrinking, but growing. She grinned as the girl gave a bow to the co-leader out of respect, and Skye nodded in turn. The girl was calm and direct, something Skye liked in a potential joiner - to the point, but still respectful all the same.

"I'm sure you'll find a good home here, Elaine," she said earnestly, "but first, do you have any skills that would aid the pack? Aside from your exceptional guitar playing?" She smiled fondly at the instrument - Skye loved guitars and playing them, and she did so every chance she got. She was still learning with Pixie how to do all the details, but she thought she had the chords and the names of the notes down pat. She was sure that she'd be able to figure out how to play one if she could think of a melody...

She snapped out of her revere and looked at the girl again; she had to pay attention to the newcomer, the first one in all of winter. There was Mars, but he had come earlier, and with Orin - the two Cours de Miracles members that had sought out refuge in the world of the artists.

The wolf-dog was pleased to hear that her guitar playing did impress the co-leader. Even though she admitted she was an above average guitar player, that wasn't her main artistic talent, but something that added to it. "I like to sing, though I would like to add knowledge to what I know already,"she informed Skye, keeping it short and to the point, and not overly descriptive so it did not bore the woman. Singing was her true passion, and playing her own music to sing to was a good idea. Being the child of a singer and a music player, it was unsurprising that the Lovato took an interest in both.

"I also can hunt, but I lack in fighting, and reading skills,"Elaine added with a frown, as if she did not like to admit her weaknesses. She was a fine enough hunter, enough to get her by fully fed, but while her strength lied with the arts, psychical abilities were her weak point. She had never gotten into a fight before, since she never had provoked one. Reading was also not a strong aspect for the hybrid. Though she lived with a more humanized family, they did teach her to read or write. But she could not ever read properly, even the writings that were perfectly preserved and barely had a mark on them. Elaine could write, but because of her lacking reading skills, they become some scrawl that only she could understand.

She shook her head, as if to make the thoughts fall out of her ears and onto the snow, and watched Skye for her thoughts on her abilities. Elaine hoped that she had provided enough to at least allow the Cercatori d'Arte to call "exceptional"; some neighboring wolves in her old home did not fully support her talent, calling it a waste of time. Of course with the support of her parents, she continued to learn, but she sometimes doubted if they were enough for anything. But, Elaine would not let these thoughts bother her now. This was a place for canines like her; these were her kind of people.

Skye saw in the woman Elaine's eyes that she loved to sing - her eyes sparkled with passion and happiness as she said those words. She nodded slowly - they only had one other singer, and that was Sky. She wasn't sure that Sky was very happy or up to singing, however, and it was good to maybe have someone that would be an inspiration to the girl and help her back on her feet again after the recent and terrible miscarriage. She smiled at the girl.

She was glad that she wanted to expand her knowledge - sometimes, people came here thinking they knew all they needed to know. There was always room to grow and learn, however, and Skye was determined to let other people know that. She still had books she didn't read, words she hadn't written, things she hadn't discovered. Other people also had those things in their life, and there was always room for expansion. She was glad to hear that she was willing to learn - more than willing. She wanted to learn. An appreciative gleam shone in Skye's eyes as she pondered the tawny girl.

She then chuckled softly as the girl frowned when she said she couldn't fight or read very well. "Don't worry," she said. "Here is a pack of artists, not fighters - we try to stay out of others' ways, and they stay out of ours. We're on good to neutral terms with all of the packs, so I don't think your troubles with fighting will be very unhelpful to the pack. If you want to learn how to read, however, I'll be glad to teach you," she said honestly. She did love to teach others to read, and had done it well in the past - she was sure that she'd be able to do it again.

She was sure that this girl was right for her pack - she was honest and young as well as eager to learn more about her talent and the world around her. And her hunting and singing skills didn't hurt, either. "Welcome to Cercatori d'Arte," she said warmly, giving the girl a smile to add to the tone.

The woman's worries soon melted away as her thoughts trailed along a different path. She wondered if they were other people in the pack like her, past the want to master an art. Were there any others who enjoy singing, or perhaps guitar playing? Maybe, she decided. It did not really matter now; Elaine would enjoy the company of others, even if they were as different as black and white. There were shades of gray in-between, and one of them had to match her's.

"Don't worry," she said. "Here is a pack of artists, not fighters - we try to stay out of others' ways, and they stay out of ours." Those words comforted Elaine; she would not be as keen and excited if she found out that the pack was actually warring with another pack. Neutrality with the other groups could mean easy friendship for the wolf-dog, which was something to look forward to. "If you want to learn how to read, however, I'll be glad to teach you." She thought it over for a moment, and nodded. "I would be glad to learn,"she added, with a smile to support her words. Elaine did not mind spending more time with the woman, she enjoyed her company, and it seemed it was the same for the cream-colored woman.

The hybrid nearly leaped with jubilation as the wolf accepted her. "Thank you, Skye. I really appreciate this,"she said hastily, grinning and giving another bow to her new co-leader. She was now a Cercatori d'Arte canine now, and she had to keep still to keep her fluffy tail from wagging.
