wotd: apposite (appropriate, fitting)

This was something akin to nothing Princess had ever felt. The pain of pushing the puppies into the world was replaced almost immediately by the feelings she knew were apposite—love, relief, and curiousity about the new lives she had brought into the world. She closed her eyes as the last puppy entered the world, though it went against her desire to see her newborns, but there was nothing she could do to prevent it. She was tired and weakened from labor, though she was happy that the puppies were here now. Each breath that passed through her lips calmed her, though they seemed to take a great deal of effort. It had been an extremely strenuous, if not very long, process and it had worn her down.

Cambria's calm and familiar voice drew her attention and she opened her eyes, a tired smile on her pretty face as she took the bundle of puppies offered to her. The young mother looked down lovingly at the three squirming bundles and she was so happy that they were all alive and so beautiful. The only boy looked like Haven; that seemed so fitting. Golden gaze turned to look up at the man she loved and cherished so much and she knew he felt the same. She thought she saw the same feeling of wonder that she had in his eyes. She did not know what to say at that moment, so she said nothing, allowing her eyes to convey the way she was feeling.

Wrap it up?

After it all had started, the end of it came surprisingly quickly. Once their son had been born, their daughters quickly followed and then he could feel his mate's form relax in exhaustion and he knew that it was done. Three children for them, that seemed a good number. That was not to say that Haven would have been upset if there had been more or less, but just that everything about this moment now was perfect in his jade eyes. The new father watched eagerly as the healer gathered up the bundled newborns and handed them carefully off to the tired mother.

Haven looked at the three small forms with unshielded wonder in his eyes. These were his children, he had made them with the woman he loved. They were parents now. It was all so much, nearly too much, to process. Still, all he felt was unadulterated joy and relief that it had all turned out just fine. The father leaned his head down to sniff at his pups, instantly memorizing their scents. His attention quickly turned to Princess though, as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder and planted a kiss on her brow. "You did so wonderful," he whispered to her. The Knight knew his Lady had been scared but she had proved a shining example through her trial. His hand which seemed so large in comparison to his pups rested on the towels that encapsulated them. Happy tears pooled at the corners of his eyes and he knew he had never felt so thrilled or fulfilled as he did at that moment. The world had shifted and the Knight had no desire for it to be any other way.
