The cold burns

It had hit like a tone of bricks. The calm before the storm had been eerie, a calm everyone just thought of as a nice break from snow and harsh winds. They had been wrong. They had all been so wrong. Tala was not one to expect the massive winds, the harsh cold and blinding snow to arrive like this. Nobody had seen this coming. Nothing was prepared, no food had been stocked and no water was sure to be kept thawed. Going outside to get anything wasn't an option. The cabin creaked from every direction. It moaned at her, threatening to give out but determined to stand tall. Windows shook and the roof creaked. The wind was seeping through like it was alive. Crawling in to itch at her skin like fleas. Why had nobody known? How many lives would the lack of knowledge cost them?

Tala had been asleep when it had started. She had been awoken by a branch slamming into the cabin's east wall. It had startled the living daylight out of her. It was then that she saw what was going on. White. Everything was a blur of white. Her jaw had dropped like there was weights attached. Her gut had done flips in every direction and her feet had become antsy. Surely this would pass in a few hours. Just a little storm. The dappled Djose woman didn't think this would last long. She was wrong.

Twenty Four hours was how long it had been since she had awoken to the mess. Sleep was little and light. The wind howled at her like a demon in her dreams. The fire was weak and small in her fireplace. How long would this last? How long could she go with the wood she had piled inside? The fire was barely big enough to heat her living room. That was where she slept, where she was living. She had blankets draped around her Lupus body at all times. Cloth shoved by the door to stop the demonic drafts from biting her ankles and destroying her precious heat. This storm was starting to get to her, She felt so alone. How she wanted to have another person here to talk to. Being alone, she was scared. Was everyone alright? Were the safe? Please.... she needed everyone to be safe.

Her ears were perked, black twitching to the moans of the wind and the groaning of the structure she lived in. It wasn't happy about what was happening to it. Frozen wood was fighting hard to stand tall against the earth's force. Tala was so thankful that she had this cabin. If she had been out in the open with nowhere to stay..... things would be grim. Her heart began to pound with the thought of the wolves who were out there. Oh god, please.... let them survive this.

There was an eerie quiet on the wind that made Tala's heart stop. The wind was howling but it seemed almost.... sneaky. Her eyes glanced towards a nearby window and she let her body slouch. She didn't like when the wind changed. Not in a storm. It took a moment for her to relax. The tri-coloured femme let out a soft exhale. Things would be ok.

It happened so fast she barely had time to react. A loud crashing noise and suddenly things were falling. There was a large object protruding through her roof, a portion of a wall had been knocked down with it and Tala let out a loud yelp of surprise. Her body spasmed into movement. Her body scrambled to get away from the object she didn't recognize as a tree hit with large force. Her paws desperately gripped at the floor to pull her body away. Her heart was going a million beats a minute and she ceased to breathe. Her claws clinked at wooden floors. The last thing she heard was a loud thud of debris. Then things were black.

Her body lay among singles and wood. Her body was still, her chest barely struggling to rise and fall to survive. The fur on the back of her head was a light crimson. She was bleeding, but not profusely. Her body lay half buried. Wood and shingles propped up enough to not crush, but pin. The cold flooded in like water. The fire was blow out and blankets were strewn about like paper.

Black minutes turned to black hours. The snow bit at her body like a snake. The blood was frozen. Surely, she would freeze soon too.

There was a loud crash, it seemed to have ripped though the pack lands, it was not Noah’s job to make sure all the member where safe, but he wanted to they all had to look out for each other in this storm. It really was the only way they all were going to make it though this stupid weather. The male head jolted up as he heard the echoing crash. The silver sable jumped to his three good feet as he did not even wait to tell the sweet lady of the house where he was off to. He worried about the pack and every one in it. The paws slipped through the snow, it was a good waist high, and he had to bounce though the snow to even get to where he had heard the echoing sound coming from. His heart raced, knowing where it came from it could not be good. Then he saw it, his sister’s house collapsed under the snow. He knew once he saw it, she was in there. ”TAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!” Noah screamed, no this couldn’t be happening his whole pack lands where getting destroyed. He felt the rush in him, he quickly and painfully shifted to his Halfling forum, paws flicked pulling the snow out, but it seemed that the faster he worked at pulling her out the more the snow was coming in. He could not let her get hurt...he would have no reason to live if something would happen to her. The male moved into the hole he was digging. He stopped breathing as he lifted his head up to the sky, tears streaming down his face as he called out for help. His sister could not lay in the snowy house. Returning the male moved, paws became a blur as he moved though the snow, moving further and further down the hole that he was making, and then he saw her laying there. With what little light there was, the male walked over to her sniffing her body licking her body trying to wake her up. Whining the male had no choice but to try to take her back to his cabin. Back to where he could warm her up and with Yuki’s help get her back to a normal or somewhat normal state. There was a moan, the male closed his eyes, and he knew this wasn’t going to be good. He didn’t care he had to get her out, the male moved to the hoe he had made back up into it, pulling her by her scruff sickened by the lost of blood he was seeing. This was not going to be good. Yuki had to know what to do, she was smart. Yes Yuki could fix her. Yuki had fixed him, shown him love like no other. The moan happened again, the male quickly moved to where he was over his sister protecting her body. Noah looked up seeing a wooden beam coming down as he felt the pain of it hitting him in the head, he saw a flash of red where it hit him hard enough to cut into his head, while it slipped off skinning the top layer of skin and fur off of his head and pinking his bad paw under it, he heard the chopping sound as he yelped out, he felt weak shifting to where Tala would be able to breathe if she happened to wake up the male felt it, he looked down and seen his paw was gone and his leg was gone, all that was left was a bloody stub that started at about an 3 inches above his elbow. He sighed; Yuki would not want to be with now. He blinked as he laid there looking at the leg, only a few painful inches of skin was all that was left of his leg. He closed his head, the pain was too much. He feel into a sleep.

Short little post

There was no cold. There was no wind. Only black. Only silence. There was no such thing as temperature right now. Body? What body? There was only a mind. A broken mind that could not even think. There was nothing to think about because nothing was going on. Sleep, just good old fashioned sleep. If only it was that innocent. It had been forced upon the small body so harsh. No choices. Waking up wasn't an option. It would happen if it wanted to. Tala was at a complete loss. She had no control, no thoughts. Was she any better than dead? The cold would kill her even if the beam had not. If the cold did not kill her the weather and the crumbling building would. If she could come to terms with anything she would have accepted that her cabin was going to be her tomb. She had made herself a home here. The very home she had claimed as her own was going to become her tombstone as well. How eerie. How sad.

Scratching, dragging. The noise was the definition of faint. Was it even real? The sounds were muffled like they had been forced through 10 layers of snow and ice. No words, just echoes and inaudible muffles. Had there been words? She didn't know. Her body was limp but she heard whistling. Was it wind? Was it her eardrums giving out? What was it? She didn't know. Why didn't she know?

A familiar scent did hit her nose. An odor of fur. It was thick like winter but so close like family. The name she could not find. However the scent was so dear to her like she had known it even before birth. Who was it.... she wished she could know. Just like that it was all gone. The whistling was faded into silence and all scent died. It returned to black. If she could have even thought about crying. She would have shed a new form of tears.

Tammi of 'Souls made this <33

Yuki had not really been worried about Noah at first. They didn't have the need to notify one another every time they left. Living on pack lands seemed to present her with a certain amount of security, though she could not speak for him. It was only right to assume that he put as much trust in to her as she did him- Even if there was a chance the information was not valid.

The female cuddled up on the old couch, pulling her human-like legs up to her stomach. She pulled the blanket up, breathing in the familiar scent of the male who she now lived with. A few months ago she never would have thought she would be in a situation like this- Yet here she was. He was such a gentle being, and a wonderful one at that. He made her feel as if she was needed. And though it had not been passed by word of mouth yet, he made her feel loved. "Strange how many optimistic thoughts occur your mind when you aren't listening to us." A hushed voice hissed, signifying it's resentment towards her once again. She sighed, the question nagging at her once again of when the voices would finally adapt.

Despite the words, the girl managed to fall asleep with a grin on her maw. She dreams consisted of a lot of nothingness- But not that it was a bad thing. She obviously preferred nothing over nightmares.. Though they did give her things to think about. They never seemed to occur without meaning, no matter how confusing they could be. Regardless of her some what peaceful dreaming experience; she awoke with a start. The sound of panting was heavy in the air, and after a few seconds of listening she recognized it to be her own. She swung her legs off the couch, sitting up and smoothing back her hair with her hand. Her heart pounded against her chest, threatening to jump right out and make a new home on the wooden floor.

After finally re-catching her breath, Yuki searched the house for Noah. Confusion followed at her heels, traveling up her spine and being planted on her face. "Where is he?" The question hung on her pink tongue, spoken to the silence that would not respond. The small fey walked over to the window, hesitantly clearing off some dust to allow her to see out of it. For a minute she thought she was mistaken. It was almost impossible to see past the frozen vapor that filled that floated down..- No, threw themselves at the ground. The thought that Noah was waiting out the storm at some one else's house did not cross her mind.

It only took the female a matter of seconds to grab what she needed. She tore the house apart, searching for two blankets to wrap herself up with and hoping they would be enough. Alas, she found some that she could consider suitable. Before her coincidence even had time to flip out, she was gone.

The wind hit her like a slap in the face, nipping at her nose and stinging her eyes. She ducked her head down, pulling the blankets over her. Her instincts tugged at her, telling her to go inside. She brought herself to breath in some of the harsh air, trying to pick up the man's scent. Though it was very faint, she picked up a small trace. She stepped forward, pushing back against the wind. Unlike most, Yuki did not call out for him. She trusted her sense of smell much more then any thing else, and she was not willing to risk distraction.

It was a wonder how she found the collapsed house within such a reasonably short amount of time. She could feel the smell getting stronger, urging her to hurry. "Fuck.." She murmured, speeding up some. She could feel tears in her eyes as she picked up the scent of blood. Even if it was not his, some one was hurt. She made her way through the forest of broken pieces of wood. Her eyes almost immediately finding the silver furred male, causing a few of the tears to overflow. "F..-Noah!" She ran to his side, sinking down and putting one of the blankets over him. Luckily, they had not been covered in as much snow as she had originally thought. She touched his cheek, patting it gently and whispering his name over and over before shouting it once. As another wind whipped through the almost completely collapsed home the female picked up the scent of another wolf. She got to her feet, listening closely for any sounds of movement. As she heard what appeared to be a quiet weeping sound, Yuki began moving pieces of wood. She made her way through the maze of a home, her heart breaking as she discovered the girl. Her appearance seemed similar to one of the women Noah had described, "Tal.. Ta..- Tala! Tala! Get up. C'mon, I'm going to get you out of here. Let's go." She placed a snowy paw over one of her own, turning around every once and a while to yell encouraging words at the male as well.

He was in pain a pain that was like a burning pain like someone had cut the skin down to the bone and had left the limb there. He was somewhere between awake and sleeping in a pain free world. That world had Yuki, so sweet and everything about her was wonderful! It was a world that he did not want to wake up from, but he also wanted to walk further into this soft dream like lands. He shifted his head rolled to the side he wanted to move further into this warming inviting light. He heard his name, It started off soft, very soft inviting, and alluring then it screamed out his name. He turned his back to the light looking back with a sigh, if Yuki was calling for him he knew that he was needed by her, and he had promise to protect her from any harm. Yu..Yu..Yuki?” He whispered, he wanted sleep he felt weak, to wake. However he no longer felt as cold. ”Leg…pain buh..buh…bad.” He closed his eyes trying to stand up, he should be trying to get them out of this mess, falling down from the lack of energy and the lack of leg Noah slapped down upon the ground with a oppf, his teeth clicking as his jaw hit the ground. ”Yuki…I love yo..ewe…you forever.” He knew it was not the pain talking he knew it was his heart. He closed his eyes again as he tried to find the light again, he wanted to take Yuki there, it seemed to have no pain, no one to hurt either of them and they could live together as lovers with out a worry if someone would hurt them.
