This takes place after the thread “I’ll be here forever” private for Mew. Wake me up!

Colibri and herself had decided to stay in these lands, for as long as they could at least. There was a melancholic beauty about these particular lands, the city in ruins. Tragic for who’s ever town this once was, but perfect for the white yearling. Someone else’s loss became her keeping, her treasure, her home, and that made it all the more beautiful to her. If she could, she’d keep this place as her home, although they needed others to join them for that to be possible. They could stay on as loners, but as loners they had no right to make a claim on these lands. They also were almost helpless to protect it if others moved in to claim it for themselves. Sure, their numbers were more than just Colibri and Cercelee, but not by much, not enough for a pack.

Despite the fact that these lands weren’t really hers, and they could be swooped out from under her at any given moment, she knew them relatively well by now. Cercelee had taken to wandering at any moment her company was not wanted by the others. The silence that permeated from the crumbling buildings was relaxing. The gentle sunlight that warmed the brick and concrete was comforting. The warm rays lulled her into a lazy state of being, her movements slow but deliberate as she picked her way through the littered streets of the town. Glass, rock, random cloth and plastic and other items that had been discarded by the humans was everywhere in this town, but also there were vines and grasses grown wild and trees growing where she was sure no tree had stood as long as the humans lived. The vegetation’s struggle to reclaim the land was amazing really, Cercelee was sure that she would never have the strength to grow up, our of concrete, no matter how determined she was.

As the sun continued to beat upon the deserted town, Cercelee’s muscles continue to relax, her eyes begun to droop slowly. More and more useful thoughts were replaced in her mind by thoughts of sleep. A nap, just a small one. Colibri wouldn’t find her, she was busy with other things, and so a nap did not seem like a bad idea, not at all. Cercelee moved herself against a large brick building, it might have been some sort of government building although Cercelee had no idea of it’s purpose, only that the brick was warm against her skin, and the building mostly in tact so that there was little chance of it crumbling around her as she slept.

Slightly confused as to where this is, or is it the first territory, “Flanders Fields”? Haven’t really paid much attention to what land the pack wanted n such, thought we were going to be in a forest, originally, but meh Wink

Mild sunlight warmed her face as the female entered an area she had yet to explore. Upon finding the new lands that the wolves of the old territories had claimed, and being allowed to also come here to settle down, Mew had taken up the task of exploring everything. The lands were many, and with great variation in surroundings. This one she had just entered gave her associations to the abandoned human city in the old lands, although not as big, nor as dangerous. There were no traps of collapsing tunnels or buildings that seemed so tall they nearly reached the stars, ready to fall down to crush a traveller. These lands were.. peaceful in comparison, nearly idyllic, aside from the fact that it, like the old city, was clearly dead. The female preferred forests and more natural surroundings, really, seemingly untouched by human hands. The fate of the humans made her depressed, though she didn’t know what had happened she knew that these lands must once have been full of life, and now.. just empty, aside from, of course, wildlife claiming it as theirs. She shrugged the line of thinking off, it would ruin the thrill of exploring. Walking around sad-faced would gain her nothing, and there were new sights to see! As if she hadn’t seen anything like it, during her nearly two years of separation from her birthlands she had come across so so many things, but it was still new. And new was good. Anyway she had to find out whether she wanted to settle down in any of the areas she’d found.

The warm light complimented her fur colour and made it shine with all the splendor of her white coat, nearly blinding, and the female caught her reflection in a half broken window of an old building. Her weight gain over the last four weeks was obvious, to her, at least, but no one here knew her, no one would notice anyway. To be honest, she just looked plain normal, in comparison to how she was used to her form being fragile in appearance. She found an odd fascination in following her moving reflection in more broken windows as she passed buildings, some reflections were stretched, some were shrinked, and some were twisted in the broken glass. Moving along buildings she noticed a figure that didn’t quite fit in with the surroundings. Another wolf? And.. sleeping, or resting, it seemed. White coat like her own, she had at first thought it was just a twisted reflection of herself, but this was clearly someone else. She moved quietly so as not to surprise the other, calmly but firmly walking closer to the resting wolf. She remembered days where she would have been more cautious, but hell, she was here now, and she knew she would harm no one. Surely this other person would notice her good intentions.

Curiously eyeing the other, Mew contemplated walking away while she could, but swiftly changed her mind. If she wanted to settle down somewhere (and anywhere will do, she thought), she had to check out the other inhabitants of the areas in addition to the territories themselves. A small cough, melodic voice.

”Um. Hi.”

We are in territory 2. There is some forest in this territory I believe but our pack would be too small to claim the whole territory so I think we are just taking the towns for now, or so I guess from the map Libri posted in the thread in RR.

holding daisies, counting stars. -- [bic]

Cercelee was a child again, as often happened in her dreams. There were no questions why Coli, Tuki and Lisi were all together with her. Although dreaming, she knew that Coli had never met her brothers, and she knew that her brothers were dead. Why question a good thing? So she let the errors of her subconscious pass as she watched the dream play out before her. The day was sunny, and she was back at the place of her birth. The den she shared with her family, and Coli, was set between the steep slopes of two hills, with lots of trees and brush sheltering them on either side. Perfect, and the dream felt so real Cercelee thought she could feel the grass beneath her paws, the sun beating on her face as she romp and tumbled and did all manner of childish-puppy antics with her siblings and her best friend.

A noise stirred her, a stranger’s voice, and one navy eyes slid open to reveal a female standing above her. However, the voice was friendly, if not a little unsure of finding Cercelee asleep in the middle of nowehere, and her stance too was nonthreatening. For a moment Cercelee was confused, the feeling of cool grass fading from her memory as the memory of wandering here and curling up for a nap replaced it. The other eye slid open to get a better view of the new female. The female didn’t look unlike herself, but that could mean something or it could not. There were many white wolves wandering about. At a loss of what to say, and although in was getting later in the afternoon, Cercelee said the first thing that came to mind. Good morning.

Slowly Cercelee stretched out her front legs that had been curled beneath her, exposing the only parts of her body that were not a blank canvas. Cercelee looked at her own legs, the grey flecks and spots that went up from her paws and gradually faded before they hit her body. From a distance one could not make out the subtle flecks of grey fur, and other than these markings she did truly look identical to so many other Sadira wolves, and so she was glad of the markings. After a good stretch to loosen up the muscles and joints Cercelee hauled herself into an upright position. Now she was face to face with the female, eye level. It was more comfortable, probably for both of them, this way.

Now that she was awoken she realized this female probably had something she wanted. Perhaps she just wanted to hear the voice of another, or know if Cercelee was sleeping or dead. Whatever the reason, Cercelee knew that one did not usually wake random wolves in abandoned towns without wanting something. Cercelee would give it to the stranger, if she could. My name is Cer, and who might you be? Friendly but calm. Always she tried to stay cool, and so her voice was pleasantly soft and like fresh cold water, never like ice. She would let the other start talking first, because Cer had no idea where to go from here, and part of her brain was still thinking about her brothers and Coli and a childhood she would never know again.

Ah oke, thanks Smile

The sleeping female in front of her stirred. One eyelid slowly opening, then the other, as if she was waking up, reluctantly, slowly exiting dreamland and focusing on her presence. Mew cocked her head sideways, curious, especially at the other's reaction to her approach. During her travels and nomad life since she left her birthlands she had encountered a lot of different kinds of reactions to any such situation. More than often, the other would react aggressively, and for all Mew knew she was trespassing. Often, despite a humble, submissive or even very friendly stance, she would be cast into a fight or driven away. They were a different mind than those of Bleeding Souls, however, mostly very small packs spread over larger areas, and thus overly defensive of their territories. When the female left Clouded Tears she knew that the areas around had housed not only wolves, but many kinds of different inhabitants, and living close by each other. Maybe it caused them to be more tolerant, she didn't know. Mew had never been very voluble though, and her choice of words had probably caused many of the more aggressive reactions toward her during her travels, and encounters like these. This time, though, despite her clumsy greeting, there didn't seem to be much chance of the other leaping at her, attacking. Neither did she seem defensive, maybe this area didn't belong to anyone?

The other slowly got to her feet, Mews emerald eyes watching calmly, keeping still, and remaining her non aggressive body stance. Once at eye level, she noticed how the other's appearance seemed much alike her grandmother's, but she threw the thought away. Loads of wolves looked alike, without there being any relation between them, hell, she had even bumped into a young male once she could have sworn was her brother, but the age was blatantly wrong, and so was his behavior. Haku had never been.. well, friendly and accepting like that. The female wrecked her brain for a reply to the question; Mew didn't like to share personal information with strangers, but how to explain this without lying, and not telling everything, at once? She was in no hurry to meet her relatives, and if her presence was known among them, she might risk getting bumped into; a situation she would like to put off for as long as possible. She didn't quite know exactly why she dreaded meeting any of them so much, maybe she just didn't want confrontation. Old issues still lingered in her head, unresolved, and maybe better that way. Fixing things was sometimes the worse alternative.

"My name is Mew, I used to live in what was named Clouded Tears, quite a long time ago. I followed you guys' scents here, hoping to settle down somewhere. But most of the lands around here don't seem to be claimed by anyone in particular..?"

The tone of her voice clearly urged the other to fill in the missing patches of information Mew had about this new place. Frankly, the female didn't really know anything. Were there packs? Were any of the territories claimed or open for all? Naturally there would be some amount of confusion after everything was destroyed, and Mew felt that confusion as well, but being an outsider to the community in total, no contacts, she knew nothing. The goal was enlightenment, and maybe this Cer could bring her that.

Would it work better if Cer asked Mew to join them, Mew agrees, and then Cercelee mentions Colibri’s name? Or do you want Cer to mention Colibri’s name before Mew agrees to join them?

holding daisies, counting stars. -- [bic]

Cercelee gave the other female her undivided attention, which was her custom with most anyone she met. As the other spoke, the yearling considered her words carefully. Mew. Nope, the name didn’t ring a bell, as names sometimes did. It was a nice name, but meant nothing to Cercelee. Clouded Tears, however, that was a different story. They must have missed each other. Or maybe not. Cercelee couldn’t recall any of the wolves that had lived in Clouded Tears when she had been a child. Only Laruku and Coli had made any impressions in the clay of her memory. Maybe Mew had lived in Clouded Tears at the same time, probably not, but at any rate they had just missed each other this time. Cercelee having joined Clouded Tears only days before it burnt to the ground, Mew arriving only days after.

Clouded Tears? That was my home as well. Briefly. What a coincidence. Still, how many wolves had passed through the borders of that pack while it had lasted? More than Cercelee could imagine, so that too meant little, only that they had seen the same lake and might know some of the same names. Of course, Clouded Tears had been Ceres’s private kingdom, a land where she spawned her army of children, grandchildren and so on. Innocent suspicions grew, yet Cercelee was never the one to assume. She would wait patiently for Mew to drop more hints. Until then they had other things to talk of, and even if this Mew was a Sadira, Cercelee didn’t consider herself to be, so that might not be a conversation topic at all.

Cercelee thought on Mew’s other words. No, it did not seem that any wolves had already resided in these lands, and if they had their numbers were far too small to form packs. However, with the mass of wolves fleeing the fire, she assumed that friends and family would form new packs. Intuition told her that they wouldn’t stray too far from the old, ash-covered lands. Something held them close by, a bond with the past perhaps, she felt it too, and the need to reassemble was great. Packs and clans would be springing up soon enough, she was sure of that. If only they could spring their own, spring it out of sheer willingness. As if that’s all it took to form a pack.

A small, somewhat shy smile formed as she spoke, her voice still light as a feather. No, I don’t think that any of these lands had been claimed prior to the arrival of those fleeing the fire. Perhaps it was arrogant of her to say so, she had not personally explored every inch of these new lands, yet all the same, if there had been packs present, surely they would have found some sign by now. I am sure that others are now trying to reform themselves. My friend and myself are trying to do the same, unfortunately we are both somewhat of loners, attracting only other loners, so our numbers grow slowly. Her mind went to Slay, how readily he had agreed to stay with the two females, strangers that they were. Loneliness did strange things to a person, Cer herself had all but pledged herself to Colibri, just to be with someone, anyone. At this point, we have no claim to these particular lands, but perhaps one day, so of course you’re free to pass through, or stick around for a while if you’d like.

Sure, can do that. Mew agrees to stay and then hears of Colibri. She'll join them anyway though, so do what you please or what fits in better Smile

Random, that they both came from Clouded Tears originally. The other was clearly younger than herself, so the female assumed she too had been born there, and had stayed there - for as long as that lasted. Knowing that, it was somewhat.. comforting. It made this meeting less strange, or maybe just gave Mew a feeling of familiarity in the sense of the two sharing something. It was odd. Emerald eyes focused on blue ones as she listened to what the other had to say.

So they weren't claimed, huh? - made sense, if none other had lived here and the whole of the community that had fled was all mixed up after the fire. Packs split and spread, new alliances and acquaintances would rise out of that as came naturally. The female looked around for a bit, green eyes narrowing in thought. This place was, really, quite a good place to live, and even though she preferred purely natural surroundings, there were plenty of den opportunities here. Surely all the old buildings weren't on the verge of collapsing, and she'd picked up a few tricks to maintain and secure places like it anyway. There was vegetation, and plenty of shelter. Lacked the glory and beauty of Clouded Tears though, which was probably why she hadn't settled down anywhere on her travels either. Looking for a place like Clouded Tears was useless; no place was like it. But she needed a home, and fast. Anywhere would do, really. If she played her cards right she might be allowed to stay here with this Cer and her friend.

"Yeah I assume the fire has caused much confusion... I was returning to Clouded Tears, but naturally I can't live there. This place looks promising though, plenty of opportunities to settle down at least."

White face turned into a smile as she finished the last sentence, hopefully making the hint to the other blatant. Other areas she had searched was, in reality, places she had liked better than these, since old human territories gave her the creeps. But she hadn't bumped into anyone when doing so, making this the first genuine shot at at least getting to know someone, and perhaps be included so she could stay. She grew tired more quickly these days, and the discovery of her birthlands being destroyed didn't make it any easier. Nope, she needed somewhere to stay, and she had work to do.

Okay! We’ll mention Colibri’s name after Mew agrees to join then.

holding daisies, counting stars. -- [bic]

Cercelee shook her head in silent agreement. No, certainly Mew could not return to Clouded Tears. No one could, not for a long while at least. Life could not be supported in it’s current condition, no vegetation meant no prey animals, and also no shade, less shelter. Clouded Tears was nothing more than a wasteland now, the landscape painted in black, browns and greys. Yet, Cercelee knew that after enough years passed, life would return there. The vegetation would grow back, twice as thick, spurred on by the fertile soil of the old trees, shrubs, grasses and probably a fair number of inhabitants. Even though life and beauty would eventually return, would they ever? Surely some of the members who had fled longed for their home, but these lands too would become a home for many of them. Would there come a time when packs again split, those returning to the past and those that chose to stay here?

Blinking away the thought, Cercelee looked back at Mew. What did it matter if in five or ten years the packs broke up again? Would Cer even be there to witness it? What mattered now was, well, now. At present they had to assemble, and assemble quick, or else stay lone wolves and see how that suited them. Cercelee didn’t think it’d suit her at all, she had been lone too long for her liking. And so she had had every intention of asking the female before her to join, yet the words had not passed her lips yet. Perhaps she wanted to be sure of the other’s answer beforehand, too much was riding on obtaining more bodies, or perhaps she just feared the other saying “no, thanks, I’ll be moving along now.” Rejection, no matter what kind of rejection, always made Cer’s stomach churn.

Plenty of opportunity to settle down. Indeed. Although not the rich forests she was use to, this place did support life. There were forest coming up quick onto the towns and deer would occasionally even wander into a building on accident, there was a rich field brimming full of rabbits with long ears and thumping feet. Cercelee had even found a little spring inside the town, perhaps where the humans had gotten water, and there were small creeks and streams just outside the border of the human’s town as well. They would not lack for anything here, if they could claim it. Tis ture. We won’t go hungry here, and we’ll be safe from the weather at least. Cercelee gave a look to the buildings, not knowing Mew had the same idea. Yes, some of the smaller, sturdier houses could make nice shelter indeed. Cercelee returned the other’s smile. You know, why don’t you stay? If you haven’t anywhere else to go. I know my companions would like to have another one of us. Cercelee didn’t really know if all the others would welcome Mew with open arms, but she had a pretty good idea that she wasn’t lying. After all, they had all found each other by chance, loners all of them, and Mew fit right it. Didn’t she?

lalala

Won't go hungry? She'd see about that - having had trouble hunting lately. But there was plenty of wildlife here, probably, hiding around somewhere. Lots of places to hide aswell, while hunting, as opposed to just plain grass or thin forest. Nothing would match Clouded Tears though, ever. She was tempted to sigh at the thought, but knowing it might be interpreted wrong, she let the urge go. She could sigh at it later. And she would go to her old den anyway, if she could find it, to see if anything was salvageable. When she left she had left a bunch of stuff there, and then regretted it.But she would have plenty of time to mourn that beauty gone when she was there.

Holding the smile still, Mew listened intently, ears and tail popping up excitedly at what she heard. So she was welcome, at least by this person's measure! No matter her hinting she hadn't really expected to be so. But if this was a sort of pack, wouldn't she have to consult her friend too? Or mate - Mew didn't know who it was. It didn't matter much anyway, she'd stay no matter, as long as she was allowed. Cocking her head to the side questioningly as she spoke, voiced that thought.

"Wow, thanks! I'd love to! But.. don't you have to ask the others? I mean, do you think they'll just accept me in without question? For all I know I might even know them also"

She smiled again, politely and excited. Emeralds started darting around, though calmly, taking another proper look at what might be her home. Would this building right here be good for a den? She didn't know, the material looked a bit too old, it might be cavernous... Thoughts much similar trailed around in her head as she waited for a reply, thinking about solutions and possibilities more intently than before, and who was the other person anyway?

Sorry this is short Sad

holding daisies, counting stars. -- [bic]

Cercelee waved her tail and smiled encouragingly. The female tried not to show her feelings but she was excited that Mew wished to join them. They need more souls to join them, more loners who didn’t wish to be lonely anymore. They were almost there really, Colibri, Slay, Hanna and herself. Now Mew. Yes, that would work nicely, if they could all stick together and why not? Neither her nor Slay had anyone else to run to in these lands, they had come here as strangers, unless Cercelee counted Laruku but she doubted her cousin would search her out and ask her to join him. If anything it would be weeks, perhaps months, if they saw each other again, if Laruku even made it out of the fire alive. Colibri and Hanna had each other, sisters, perhaps they did have others they knew, but they seemed content with just each other, and the others. For the time being. And Mew. Mew wanted to call this her home as well.

I am certain they will accept you, they are all very kind. From what she knew of them. Although it had only been days, maybe a week at most, none of them had any disagreements, they all seemed to accept one another most readily. Cercelee knew too that they all wished to form a pack, so why would they turn down a potential member? To be honest, the only thing keeping us from a pack is lack of numbers. Cercelee paused. Perhaps Mew did know some of the members, would that be beneficial or not? Slay of course would be a stranger, yet Colibri and Hana had both lived in Clouded Tears at some point, Mew could know them. Perhaps it would be wise to mention them? I will have to mention you to Colibri, she had kind of taken charge, well as much as we have any leader. Right now we are just a bunch of loners banding together, Slay, Hanna, Colibri and myself.

Sorry for the unreadingness of the white print. Working on a new table, this one is annoying me >>

Wagging tail stopped as she heard the name of her mother spoken by Cer. Wasn't that just ironic? The last person she wished to bump into, and it seems she had just chosen to settle down where she would meet her not only once, but repeatedly. The whole of her body went tense, emeralds breaking eye contact and going distant, thinking of how any such meeting would go down. Colibri was no mother of hers, and the female held no affection towards her. What she did feel, she didn't know,. But she'd rather avoid meeting her - the mere thought was uncomfortable. There was no turning back now, however. She had pride, after all.

The female realised her body language was probably giving her away in regards of the mention of Colibri. Trying to regain her previous state of mind and posture, she let her tail start wagging again. Green spheres again made eye contact, but not before voicing a little sound as if she was thinking, trying to remember. If she was lucky, her strange act might pass as simply trying to remember if she'd heard the names before. "Hmm.." She paused. She didn't want to lie. She had heard two of the names before, but she'd rather not have Cer here running off to Colibri and letting her know of her daughter's presence. Best to avoid commenting their names in total. "Well in terms of numbers you have another now, so maybe we could treat ourselves with a pack title in not long!" Smiling, tail wagging falsely, she tried to sound enthusiastic, but was certain that she failed. She felt like leaving there and then, to just get on with finding a den and relax. Clouded Tears gone, Colibri here.. Too much for now.

We’re about done with this thread? Cer will ask Mew if she wants to look around and Mew can either accept or decline, unless you want to keep it going, but we served our purpose Smile

holding daisies, counting stars. -- [bic]

The difference in Mew’s body language was as different as day and night, and Cercelee took note of it. A small flutter of fear grew in her stomach, Mew was about to back out it seemed. One of those names had struck a chord, it was obvious but Cercelee did not comment on it, did not ask questions. There was no reason to push Mew any farther, if she wanted to explain, well then Cercelee would probably hear an explanation, if not, perhaps the truth would surface eventually anyway. What if they lost her though? Cercelee felt as if she were standing on thin ice, watching Mew, and though the interaction only last a few moments it seemed to drag on.

Mew’s voice broke, and Cercelee felt a flood of relief, although the fear still simmered deep within. Although her words were positive, her tone was not sincere. There was still the possibility of Mew vanishing in the night, a one time meeting. It wouldn’t be unheard of, Cercelee had pulled on of those herself. It was silly though, they hadn’t even a pack yet, why should Cercelee care? Shaking her head, she decided that she didn’t. Smiling genuinely at Mew, her tail waved behind her and her tones warm.Indeed, this is good news for all of us that you decided to stay. Cercelee paused, although she could control her body language and her feelings however she wished, she was at a loss for words.

The thought crossed her mind to tell Colibri of Mew, to see if the name struck a similar response, as she doubted it was Slay whom Mew was so hesitant about, and if this wolf was some relation to Hanna, well Colibri would probably know as well. It wouldn’t be the first time Cer spouted off names that Colibri would react to, but Cer decided against it. This was none of her business, whatever it was, and she truly did wish to make Mew feel at home. If Colibri asked why Cer hadn’t told her of Mew, well, she would say that Mew did not mention that she knew anyone of the others, and that was true enough. Changing the subject, both in her mind and out loud, she spoke as if no weirdness had just occurred between the two of them. Would you like to take a look around then?

Woo, Mew has home!

Perhaps she had noticed, perhaps not. Even if she did, she did not follow up on it, and Mew was relieved. She would rather not explain, especially as she didn't really understand it herself. The main point for her now was that she had somewhere to stay. She needed to start hunting, explore properly, find a den, find the possibilities that were here for her. She tried to focus on this fact; that she had a home now, and the relief it offered her. Her broken family tree was nothing compared to it, and it was good news. She felt herself relax a little, more genuinely happy feelings rising to replace the uncomfortable ones. She would push her mother-issues away for now - there were more important things to handle.

Despite Mew's rather odd act towards Cer, she seemed to accept her. Perhaps the two would get to know each other well, even become friends, in time? Mew couldn't say she had had much friends, although had had relations in her travels that she could call close, they were brief, and not really matching what she would call the term "friend". More like.. a trusted acquaintance. This should be interesting; nomad freeroaming Mew, in a pack? She laughed in her head, certainly she had created a proper challenge for herself now. But this was good, change was always for the good. Tail now wagging happily, she was more relaxed as she spoke again. "Thanks, I think I will, my need for a den is pretty pressing, really. I'll see you around, I guess!" Smiling, her body turned halfway to signalise she was leaving. Not in a hurry, but simply a closure to the conversation. She wanted to get started! Emeralds still focusing on the blues of the other, she smiled again. Her voice was sincere as she spoke, and hopefully the gratitude would be easy to pick up. "It was nice meeting you, Cer. Thanks for letting me stay." She kept her stance and eye contact for a while, politely, before turning away completely to trot calmly away, continuing in the direction she had come. So.. which of these houses were safe still?
