It had been two days since her encounter with Anu, and Fia was feeling happier by the day. She had traveled from her home to where she thought Rabbit Lake was, and was amazed at how large the expanse of water was. It was so enormous, it could be an ocean! Laughing, the puppy bounded down to the shore and looked at the water that was lapping at it. Beyond, she could see fish breaking the surface of the blue expanse, which was half covered in ice, half thawed. The weather was warming, no doubt, and it seemed that the fish knew it, too.

Fia suddenly wondered what happened to the fish when the lake froze over. Did the lake freeze all the way down to the bottom? Were the fish stuck in the position they were in until it thawed out? Fia looked out in amazement; what brave fish! She wondered if they got bored, being stuck in ice all winter.

The part she was in was covered in ice, and Fia took a tentative step onto the icy platform. Seeing that it seemed stable, she took another step and then another. This was easy! It was like walking on water! Giggling, Fia planted all four paws out onto the ice and pretended she was the captain of a mighty ice ship. "I am Captain Fia, and you all have to listen to me!" she exclaimed to the fish.

She could even imagine that her pretend boat was rocking back and forth, breaking from the shore and drifting out into the lake...which it was. Startled, Fia snapped out of her daydream and looked down - the ice floe that she had been standing on was no longer attached to the shore; it had broken off, and was now drifting towards the middle of the lake. Dismayed, Fia looked up. "Help!" the white pup cried out.

WC: 460 OOC: A bit of pp to head to the shore is awright :3 !!

Amata had been taking a walk, her duties had been relieved now that Artemis was away, though still weak from the days of laying down, but there was not the constant worry that her sister would pass away. Amata was glad for this. She decided to take the time she had, to walk and read. There was so much she had missed out on in reading because she had been off learning herself that she forgot how much she enjoyed it.

She was on her way to the calm cool serene lake she’d always visited as a puppy when she heard a cry for help. Her ears perked and she looked straight ahead where it had come from. There in the middle of the lake stood little Fia, oh no what happened now? With all these pups she knew there was going to be trouble at every corner, but this much trouble? First Artemis, then Oak and now Fia, she ran to the shore to see what happened, to see the pup was on a small berg that had chipped off from the lake. Amata had no time… and she knew the ice would not hold her.

Hold on Fia I’m coming!

Amata dropped the book at the shore and tried her best to find something that could help her, but there was nothing… NOTHING. Amata growled in frustration as Fia started to float further away, and no doubts that iceberg was going to hold her for too much longer. Looking at the water Amata was very apprehensive. Then she turned to the ice, though it would not hold her, she would have enough time to run across it right? To get as close to Fia as she could? Making up her mind she ran, ran to the ice and across it slipping a little but not letting the ice break under her, as she heard the large cracks under her optime feet, and then when there was no ice any longer she jumped. The pain of the ice cold water washed all over her. She had one thing to think about right now and that was getting Fia safely to the shore. Hurrying her body to rise to the surface, she broke through the water taking a deep frozen breath, which felt even worse than being under the freezing water itself. She swam toward the ice that held Fia and was drifting further to the middle of the lake. She tried not to splash too much, but she had to get there fast she was already shivering, once she grabbed onto the berg she started maneuvering it towards the shore.

it’s… its ok F.f.f Fia, I’ve got you!

Fia was relieved when she heard a voice coming from the shore saying that they were coming. She clung on to the small chip of ice she was on and closed her eyes, not wishing to see the large expanse of water she was drifting into. The slish-slosh sounds of the water and the motion that swayed her side to side didn't help the situation, however, and she soon felt like she was going to throw up into the water.

However, soon, the rocking motion and the calm lap of the water changed to a splash, and Fia opened her eyes; there was Amata! She had only seen the white, elegant packmate once, and she was glad to see her now - she had fallen into the water, however. Fia worried for her - what if she had fallen in and couldn't swim?! Panic threatened to overwhelm the small pup until she saw the white female break the surface of the water and swim towards her. Panic turned into amazement as the woman grabbed a hold of Fia's small ice floe, and the swaying, sickening motions of the iceberg turned into a steady movement towards shore.

To Fia, the time that it took to get to shore seemed like forever; she didn't feel afraid anymore, however, as Amata had her. They finally reached the shore of the lake and Fia spent no time in hopping off her iceberg, which was now cracking in the middle and sinking into the lake. She looked on as Amata also climbed out of the lake; the woman was soaked to the skin, and Fia could tell she was cold. She was eternally grateful, however. "Thank you, Amata," the pup said, slightly shivering from the cold and the shock of the ordeal.

WC: 302 OOC: It’s ok if you bring them all the way to the mansion!!

Amata had to keep reminding herself that if she let go of that berg, and let herself die of the numbing coldness she would resign the fate to the puppy. There were a few times where she went under the biting cold water but she emerged again at the thought of saving her young pack mate’s life. It was quite slow going for Amata and all she wished to do was find solid ground and get out of this freezing water. She found her footing soon enough and little by little emerged from the water as the ice finally got to the shore it cracked in half, just in time to keep the puppy out of the water, but Amata was freezing, and she knew that if she didn’t act fast she’d die of hypothermia, though she was out of the water she was not out of danger yet.

y-y-you’re welcome little o…o-one. We m-m-must get back

She said as she got up to trudge through the less freezing snow, thought it was still cold it felt considerably warmer than the water, though the air made her feel twice as freezing. She could only be glad that it was not too windy out. She was sure the puppy was following her as she headed home to where it was much warmer. The fire and a few towels and blankets would do her nicely, but she had to make it there, and her breathing was already laboring as she held her arms crossed over her chest tightly. It was far too cold for her, and she could barely keep going…but she did, she would persevere, she would make sure to get the pup to true safety, she would warm up band be well and happy. She would never ever leave the mansion again.

Fia dashed around Amata's legs as the Optime girl trudged through the thick, freezing snow. She knew that the white female could get sick if left that cold for so long, although the young pup didn't know what the extent of the damages would be - her imagination was too naiive and innocent to perceive the coldness and darkness of the world. Instead, the young girl nudged Amata onwards if the woman looked as if she were going to fall or give up in the midst of the chilly, slight wind or the cold winter that hailed down from the heavens.

It was with great joy that Fia saw the mansion at last, and she sped towards it with haste. Remembering her savior, however, she skidded to a halt and turned around. "Just a little farther, Amata! We're almost there!" the young girl squeaked, beckoning her white kin with her tail. The woman made it, thankfully, and they slowly entered the large building's rooms. Warmth seeped through Fia's fur as the fiery warmth of the mansion shooed away all traces of the freezing outside - all the windows were shut, and Fia thought she could scent a fire somewhere, warming up the mansion even more.

The young girl shook off her paws, but Amata was even wetter than she - she had swam through the entire freezing lake...alone! Greatly impressed by and grateful to Amata's courage, Fia looked up to her. "You're really brave!" the young girl exclaimed.

WC: 309 OOC:

As she trudged through the snow she had a hard time keeping her concentration. It was the pup who was able to lead her the way to the mansion, and the pup’s touch, that kept her walking. The encouragement that Fia gave her was helping as well. Her young cousin didn’t know it, but it was possibly what kept the young Sadira woman from collapsing on the spot. Her little voice and courage, for she knew the pup knew something was wrong, and Amata did to because once the pup said the house was near, Amata could feel that her wet fur was starting to freeze. She looked up to see the big beautiful mansion and gave a sigh of relief, yes it was there, and it looked WARM!

A-almost t-t-t-there.

She mumbled more to herself than to the pup. She would make it, but would she be in time? Would she get sick from this? A little sickness was nothing compared to what she had done and she’d gladly do it again right now if another of her family or friends was in danger. Amata cared very much for most things, and to see fear in ones’ eyes was hard, so she would do anything to prevent such things, poor Fia would get a talking to from Amata not to mention Ghita, because Amata would have to tell the puppies mother what happened… She found the steps and soon began to ascend them, stiff legged from the eyes and her muscles cramping up. Thank the stars she was home! She thought as she stumbled into the mansion, waiting for the pup to enter. The warmth washed over her like a mother embracing her pup, enticing her towards it, and promising nothing but good things. Her fur was beginning to dampen again as the ice that froze on her.

i'm so sorry for the delay, Shaw! Dx

Fia looked up at Amata, who had shut the door behind them and already looked a bit warmer than she had out in the freezing cold lake or the harsh winds and snows. Fia looked around quickly and found something perfect - an old and ragged blanket. It was tattered and torn from what seemed to be years of abuse, and it had several holes as well as dirt, but it was dry and warm and Amata needed it. The young female raced towards the blanket and grasped it in her jaws, dragging it towards Amata.

The blanket was heavier than she expected, and she almost tripped over the long and heavy piece of cloth. She managed, however, to drag it all the way to her kin and lay it at her feet. "Heres, Amata! Gets warm! And dry!" she exclaimed to her savior. She was glad that Amata had saved her, and she didn't want her to get sick or frozen from the cold, and in her mind, she believed that the blanket would stop that, or at least solve it temporarily.

WC: 268 OOC: Erf i don't think we will get much further unless you have other ideas?

The puppy helped in more ways than she could know. The blanket draped around Amata but rather than huddle dripping, she used it like a towel, though it was holy, and quite dirty, she needed to dry off. She knew there was another blanket in the sitting room and a fire full of warm flames Her feet automatically moved her to the chair where she was almost done wiping herself off. Her fur stuck out in odd places, but that was the price she would have to pay to get warm. Sitting down she took the other blanket and draped it around herself and covered herself. Looking over at Fia she motioned the pup to come over and help warm her up. A smile now creased her face.

“Thank you for the help. I hope I didn’t scare you.”

She said. She was still shivering but now she could feel her body, it wasn’t so cold an the heat was wrapping itself around her like a loving mother. She was feeling better and with that feeling she worried that the pup was traumatized if no from the ice floating from shore, but from Amata’s rescue, and the need to get home.

“I hope you learned not to go near the lake when the ice is thin huh?”

She said in a joking tone, though in a way it was serious, but she treated it like it was something funny, that way Fia would know that Amata was in no way unhappy that she had to go in after her.
