Ruby glare remained straight ahead, but she had no true goal in mind other than her usual stomping about. The woman seemed to be as temperamental as the sea these days; gentle, melodic waves of salt turning to wild, raw nature and back. There was only so much the Lykoi princess could take and she had crossed that bold line what seemed a very long time ago. And the little piece of crap she had given birth to had proved to be an utter disgrace. Tears of shame and disappointment had run in fat streams down her face at Gabriel de le Poer’s words, and she had not known what to do. And now, the little shit had proved to be a thief as well. The mother could have recognized her son’s scent anywhere, and she had quickly realized what she had lost.

There was only one remaining twin sword in her possession, and she now guarded it with her life. The second was gone, with only a light scent of the womb of the mountain and the traces of Lykoi blood. In the chaos; hiding under the cover of the violent snowstorm, the exiled Lykoi weasel had snuck into the territory and into the mansion and stolen one of her most treasured items. Halo continued to be furious about this, but regardless... she had not found the heart to reveal this to her two superiors. It was not how it was supposed to be, but perhaps there were fragments of love still there within her damaged core. But the anger remained hot and deep red with a blue core. She knew now, that her gaze was set at the building mountains ahead where Anathema’s borders lay.

Was she on her way there to reveal her rage to the wolf pack that surely must have taken him in? That was the only solution she could find, because his scent had changed and spoke of a new community rather than loneliness.

Sorry 'bout the delay >.<

Days had passed since the accident and yet the mysteries that surrounded him were still unsolved. No one had the answers to his questions and his memory still managed to escape him. All he knew was that he’d been foolishly walking through the snowstorm, drunk and singing at that! And as a result he’d fallen into the lake and lost his memories. It was weird, not knowing who you are; he’d found himself questioning his every action. Do I like rabbit? Would I walk this fast? Would I say that? Every action, every move he questioned, probing at his blank memory in hope of finding an answer. Yet, still he knew nothing.

Maybe it was because of the fear of acting in a way that wasn’t ‘him’, but he found himself staying away from others, interacting with them as little as possible. Even though he had been accepted into Cercatori D’Arte he hadn’t interacted with anyone aside from Skye. Then again, maybe it was fear that if his memories returned, others would treat him differently. The unknown was scary.

Lost in thought as he was, he almost fell as his foot slipped on a loose stone. Looking up and around him, he took in the landscape. According to his questionable calculations, he believed that he was somewhere along or near the halcyon mountain. He’d decided to ‘attempt’ to retrace his steps. But with no memory of what those steps were, he was really going by guess work, hoping something would knock his memory.

Everything around him seemed so peaceful, so quiet. Maybe a little to quiet? Lifting his head he took in the scents that surrounded him, looking for any possible threat. It was light, but definitely there; the scent of another canine. Pausing, he considered his next move. Should he follow it or should he continue on his way?

“Curiosity killed the cat, but has yet to kill the wolf” he muttered, then altered his course in the direction of the scent. Eventually, the female came into sight. Cautiously, whilst making a lot of sound to announce his presence. When he’d closed in on the female he stopped at a comfortable distance and called out to her.

“Hello?”

The moment the sound of approach reached her auburn ears, gaze followed with automatic hostility flaring up behind depths of maroon. He was a stranger, but so were the majority of souls in these lands. This was one of the reasons why the Lykoi female often felt reluctant to abandon the lands of ash and salt. Inferni was a safe place, and all nightmares except for one had occurred away from the coyote clan’s safety. But it was uncomfortable feeling restless. It was likely the burning embers residing in the pits of her stomach. Her body had ached these last weeks, but she knew it was the usual emotional turmoil. What would be next?

The usual greeting was offered, but her own was delayed as she judged the wolf that had stopped on some distance. Good, for her personal space remained wide while she wandered on neutral grounds. She wanted him to be the enemy, and he was, but there were no wars in these lands any longer, and a pack’s scent clung to him like a lover. Auburn pelted arms crossed before her chest, and the chaos star shone crimson against the cream above her heart. Her slender muzzle dipped quickly; a soundless greeting returned for one audible. She recognized the scent that spoke of his home; it was where she had walked into those two idiots with knives.

She had to wonder if the man knew the young girl walking around with a bear skin. Was he as pathetic as that female had been as well?

Two things played a major part in this scene; firstly was the expectation of the situation being a ‘normal one. For in the male’s mind, a normal ‘meet and greet’ started with the two ‘participants’ finding each other, then one says hello and the other responds. That was the normal way, in a normal situation and was what he’d been expecting. Then there was curiosity; curiosity had led him to follow the strangers’ scent and curiosity had made him call out to her. Maybe curiosity may just get the wolf killed…

Man, I have to lower my expectations. For the situation he now found himself in was quite clearly, not normal. Despite having made his approach clear and the fact that he’d called out to her in, what he deemed as a ‘friendly and simple greeting’, it seemed as if his very actions had somehow made the female uncomfortable. No, not uncomfortable, he corrected himself; she seemed to be more… wary?

An awkward silence hung around like a bad smell as he waited for the female to respond; his muscles tensing in case the situation turned out bad and he needed to flee or fight. Maybe this was a bad idea? Fear began to poke it’s way into his mind, for he now wondered if he’d just walked into a mine field and stepped right on one.

Then, much to his relief, the female responded in a silent manner. Now that the common greetings were over, things were going to get tricky. Since he’d been isolating himself from others for a fair amount of time now, it goes without saying his social skills had pretty much disappeared. Sadly and much to his now found dismay; he’d been the one to call out to her and so he believed he should be the one making conversation, yet his mind merely laughed at him for no sentences or words came to him.

“Errrm” he mumbled, still stuck for words. Slowly, he raised a pale grey hand and ran it through his short spike hair; the movement seemed to be a ‘nervous habit’ of his and he made a note of that. It pleased him that he’d learned something new about himself, but knowing one of his nervous habits didn’t assist the situation.

“Sorry, picked up your scent back there” he vaguely indicated the direction with a wave of his hand, “And so I figured I’d see who was around here…”

Well, that was lame. Wait to go, making a great first impression there bulls eye, he internally insulted himself.

She could understand why every canine out in the open seemed to reach out for contact, but she was not like they. Her appearance seemed much more relaxed and friendly than what would usually have met the boring pelted wolf. An eyebrow rose in silent expectation as she waited for the male to continue the initiative. While the wolf seemed slightly out of place, Halo did not. Despite grim episodes buried in the past, the woman felt generally safe wherever she went. Countless hours had turned her quite deadly compared to her surroundings. There were always those that would be beyond her skills, but she knew that the possibility to run into someone as deadly as she was rather low.

Besides, the man showed no hostility, so she barely touched the thought of blood spill. It only took a moment or two before he seemed to figure out something to say. The Inferni member let her arms fall away from her chest, and let cream painted hands rest against sweetly curved hips. ”Did you?” she smiled, though glowing rubies did not quite copy the slight warmth that graced her smiling lips. She stepped a few feet closer to his still form, though left it at that. Hues of red travelled up and down the larger canine’s frame, though her face refused to reveal what could be going on behind the scenes. Truth was probably that Halo too found it hard to interact with strangers.

But she could not remain strictly within the clan lands forever either. She could not return to the brighter life she had lived before she had received the cursed twin swords. Part of her missed being free of dirty secrets and skeletons. But this was a choice she would stand by forever. ”Are you satisfied with what you see, then?” she asked, head falling to the side in a questioning matter. Some canines loathed her as much as she loathed them, but she didn’t have to be unreasonable from the start.

Again, the female’s response was unexpected, leaving him almost dumbstruck and stuck for words. Maybe it was because he’d assumed that she would reply as if reading from a rule book; I say hello, you say hello kind of thing. Now.. confusion buzzed within him, for he found himself trying to figure out what her actions and no words meant. But, in the back of his mind, it oddly pleased him that he’d made the seemingly quiet female speak at all, heck, he felt compelled to try and get an entire conversation out of her one way or another. It was unclear to him, where his.. competitive? Nature came from, but now that there challenge was before him, he wanted to attempt it.

The first thing to do was to address the.. interesting question she had given him. His lip twitched with humour, but he managed to control himself and keep his expression neutral. So many tempting responses came to mind, but for some reason, he knew better than to blurt out the first thing that came to mind. Mimicking her, he titled his head to the side. “Hmmm”, he made the simple sound to break the silence.

Slowly, he look her up and down; taking in her markings, body structure, every detail. When finished, he looked back up to meet her eyes and flashed her a ‘innocent’ smile, “I see nothing objectable. So I would say that I am satisfied”.

Temporarily forgetting his current company, he raised one hand to his mouth, the other stretching upwards and he yawned, loudly. Afterwards, he looked up to her sheepishly, “Sorry, been up and about travelling awhile” a nervous smile fixed itself upon his face, in hope she wouldn’t take it personally and take offense from such behaviour.

Perhaps he already had received more than most wolves had. Halo was not fond with interacting with the enemy, but despite meeting individuals that merely strengthened her resolve, she did try to make amends to her pessimistic attitude. Her smile brightened slightly when he mirrored her little head tilt, sounding like he was still making up his mind. She remained confident in her place, knowing well that her exotic features were generally approved of by the majority of the males she had met in the past. But some seemed to look past the shell, and few liked what they saw there. She still could not fathom what Silas could see in a vile creature like her.

Nothing objective would have to be taken as a positive response. ”I’m pleased to hear,” she sang, fingers entwining with each other as she seemed to relax some. There was no trace of hostility that she could see in the male, and she supposed she could allow herself to loosen up somewhat. Once she had been so trusting of the canines she met, but nowadays she seemed unable to let her guard down. Her eyes turned questioning when he decided to allow himself a yawn—so she bored him already? An excuse followed closely after though, and she let it slide. ”Are you new to these lands then?” She wondered, tilting her head the other way as her voice filled the quiet air.

Sucky reply, sorry x.x

In Character

The lighter male chuckled slightly, for he was enjoying the others unpredictable and unique reactions. “I aim to please” he responded, a childish grin, full of mischief sat upon his face. Maybe I am over reacting; it’s not that bad socializing others and how different could I be if I regained my memories? For a moment he began to believe that he had made a mistake, for here he was speaking with another and enjoying himself.

“Hrmm, now that is a question I’d like to know the answer to myself” his response aimed towards both present company and himself; for he really would like to know if he was new to the lands or not. The others question just strengthened his belief that he shouldn’t be interacting with others until his memories returned; not only was he most likely not behaving as his true self, but new acquaintances asked questions in which he could not answer.

And yet, he’d still followed the female’s scent, giving into his curiosity; he had an inkling his curiosity and love of challenges had gotten him into a few rather ‘sticky’ situations before, but no further details returned. A sigh escaped him, before he could stop himself and then he realized that it may be wise to elaborate on his previous statement.

“Apparently, I was enough of a fool to fall into an oasis and nearly drown. Hit my head pretty hard and wiped my memory clean” he pointed at his head, trying to make light of the situation. “How about you? Do you come from near by?” he inquired in return.

There was some life in the smile she maintained at his humours comeback served with a mischievous grin, though she did not quite know what to make of him. These scarlet eyes should always see him as the enemy, and she knew better than to be dazzled by friendliness and personality. While she was a creature full of flaws, she did learn from previous mistakes, especially when they were extraordinarily horrible. But she was superior to him, so it wouldn’t do to feel uncertain around him. He had already been labelled, so there should be no trouble dealing with him. In theory at least. Why would he aim to please one such as herself. Inferni had a reputation not restricted to these lands alone. Many outsiders knew of the malevolent group as well.

Her curiosity was not sated at his answer to that question. Or was he making fun of her? Sharp nails tapped together in a manner that could suggest building irritation, though she was not quite there yet. ”Oh?” she followed, tilting her head slowly while taking a lonely step above him, still considering the canine before her. Wisely, he chose to elaborate, and while she listened she had to wonder why the hell he would bother her with such details. They were strangers and she had no specific right to gain such insight, though as long as he was willing to share… well. She wouldn’t shut him up if he remained interesting. A man without memories was a stranger in a stranger place.

She thought the question he served her back was silly, but if his memory truly was wiped clean, then she guessed that he just couldn’t know. Perhaps he was trying to play her, but a wolf without memories would still be the enemy, and he was nowhere near piercing her guard. ”I live in a coyote clan that has claimed territory west of here.” But that was not all. They weren’t just any bunch of boring canines. ”We like to decorate our borders with a few wolf heads on sticks. You should come see them one day.” Awfully chatty she was today. The last words were not intended to sound threatening, but the wolf was more than free to interpret her words however he wanted.

Apparently having no memory makes him more of an idiot than he usually is; for he does not take her seriously what-so-ever o.o

In Character

“A clan of coyotes?” he repeated he words and probed at his empty mind to see if he knew anything of suck a pack, but once more all he found was darkness and silence in replace of memories. Aside from the anxiety of acting unlike his true self, the male had found that lacking memories wasn’t all that bad; one could ask many questions and learn new things all over again and he always had a reason for his ignorance to situations and different cultural beliefs; when one knows nothing, nothing is really expected of him. Before he responded to the small piece of information the other had revealed about herself, the unusual female threw in a subtle threat regarding her home.

At the image of a border lined with wolf heads, the pale male could not help but laugh; a full, belly chuckle kinda laugh that had his shoulder shaking. “One… he.. heck of a .. fashion statement” he managed to blurt out between his laughs. Recovering himself, he vaguely waved a hand in the air; a somewhat pointless gesture that had no real meaning. Taking In a deep breath, followed by another few chuckles he composed himself and turned his attention onto the red eyed beauty before him once more. “Bet’cha none of them are a pretty as me though” the words took on a playful tone and he added a wink and another childish grin to accompany his words.

Pausing for a moment, he cocked his head to the side as he considered the females words more seriously. “Take it you’re no fan of wolves then?” it was more of a statement then a question, spoken as if he didn’t consider himself to be one; for all he knew, he could be more coyote than wolf and simply not show it. Pale blue eyes looked upon the others red, taking in the other and trying to figure her out, as complicated as that task was, the female intrigued him and was pleasant enough company.

Big Grin

He seemed ignorant of the group she spoke of, and she was very close to taking offense to that fact. Being a member of the clan, it was easy for her to assume that her home was more known than it was. But she fiercely believed that they were still a well-known force that was feared to a certain degree. She wanted him to look at her with awe and a sense of fear, though here there was none. He was empty for what she wished to harvest from him.

But the woman’s frown did not step onto her lips before he openly ridiculed her by releasing loud laughter. Oversized ears dressed with soft copper fur slammed down against her silky locks, and the thunder flashed across her face; warning that the storm was now quickly approaching. ”Perhaps not,” she replied with a tone iced with distaste as he commented that no skull could be as pretty as him. Well, they could certainly mount his head up along the line of unfortunate dead to give the collection a visual lift.

Her blade whispered, and she would not turn a blind ear for long. Was his humour something she would have followed if he was not what he was? She had attempted to amend her ways, but had basically been punched in the face. There were too many reasons why she should hate this lot. ”I am formed by my environment,” she answered, willing to lay the blame out before him to catch a reaction. Yes, it was his kind that had helped nurture the burn within her heart.

A small warning flashed within his mind that he should be more careful with his choice of words and not joke about the female’s… clan. Ignorance was bliss and he was truly ignorant to that of which she spoke of, but it was clear from the female’s body language that this clan didn’t bode to well with jokes and making light of themselves. As she pinned her hatred vaguely upon wolves as a whole, he couldn’t help but wonder what exactly wolves had done in the first place to cause such ingrained and seemingly irrational hatred. As far as he knew… which was very little, he himself had never had a problem with another canine; be they coyote, dog or wolf. At the end of the day, they all pretty much had four legs, fangs and claws along with many other shared similarities and he couldn’t comprehend how one could judge a wolves simply from a fews actions.

Shrugging, he considered whether to voice his opinion on the matter or not, and more importantly; if he did, how would she react? A grin tugged at his lips as his decision was made. “See, I can understand being ‘formed by ones environment’, but have you ever considered judging a canine by a case-by-case basis? Surely not every wolf you encounter has committed some evil upon you and yours?” his words were chosen carefully in an attempt to not offend the female. Conscious that this wasn’t really a conversation you struck with a complete stranger; but heck, the worst that could happen was his death and with no memories to hold him to his life, he wasn’t so adapt at self preservation.

Pushing his luck just that little bit more.. “Say if I was a coyote, would you treat me differently simply because of what and whom my parents were? A wolf doesn’t choose to be a wolf and being a wolf doesn’t necessarily equate to that canine being evil or bad; they are just themselves.” He paused and flashed his companion a shy smile. “Then again, I’m just a clueless lecturing fool it would seem”.
