OoC: Test-driving my new table, with a few modifications so I don't screw up my OoC and IC. You all are so lovely with your graphics skills. <3 Time is approximately 5:00 AM on February 6th of 2011.

Prowling, waiting, taut was she. A mother's worst nightmare was to lose her children — to have one snatched away in the night, or worse, killed by a predator. Though Cheval Island was mostly isolated, the odd shark or wandering beast from afar managing to take something from the shore, that did not change instinct. Mares still stood protectively over newborn young, last year's late colts still hovered over protectively. Some were on the verge of independence, while others were barely old enough to fend for themselves. The former would be easier — and more sensible — prey for her.

The main plan was simple. Prowl around the herd and incite a panic, grabbing the attention of the lead mare and stallion. Lead the stallion away first, the herd's natural chew toy and the first line of defence. She'd drive him towards the sea, and if possible, somehow get him to trip. If he broke a leg, he wouldn't survive long, especially if he was caught out in the surf as the tide came in. The lead mare came next — a tougher creature, Rewdeynetya mused, and more determined and smarter. She, too, would have to somehow get the old nag to break a leg, slowing her down considerably as Rewdeynetya went for the herd. Then it was a matter of harrassing the horses until a particularly slow or stupid colt fell behind. She would tackle it, subdue it with rope scavenged from the weather station's ruins. Once it was tied, she'd get it back to the lighthouse...somehow.

Her secondary plan had required less thinking time, and was a great deal more simple. A stray colt would be rounded up, grabbed and taken as quickly as possible from the herd. She'd have to run, lest she risk a pummelling by one of the lead horses — it would be gutsy and it would be dangerous. By the looks of it, a small group of mares was standing off to the side, pawing at the ground for sustenance as their near-independent babies wandered about. A couple of particular prospects were standing far off to the side, looking around cautiously. Thankfully, they had not seen her yet, and the icy winds were blowing in Rewdeynetya's direction. The sand muffled her footsteps very nicely as she moved.

As soon as she had her horse, she planned to take it to the nearest pack and rid herself of it. It broke her usual policy of avoiding all packs, but food was low on the island. She could only take so much scavenging — most things were stripped clean or rock solid in coldness, the excess salt from the water dehydrating her easily. Her naturally-lean body was becoming unhealthily thin, and Rewdeynetya found herself more tired and sore lately. She would need her strength for when spring came, and there were plenty of delicious, vulnerable creatures to find and hunt.

Mizu Kuin was traveling yet again. She wondered if she would ever settle down, she was constantly on the move, trying to find a different place to stay for the night. She heard her stomach rumble and she winced a bit. She hadn't eaten for a while. She smelt the air, trying to find something that was living. She smelt another wolf, and some other creature. She guessed that the wolf was hunting since her sceant was mixed in with a creature that Mizu couldn't determine. She ran towards the smell.

When she saw the wolf she crouched low, not wanting to give herself away yet. She looked around her and saw horses. Was this wolf before her going to hunt horses? If she was Mizu wanted in, she was hungry. She crept up to the wolf, staying low to the ground, keeping out of sight from the horses. She whispered very lowly, "Are you hunting these?" She hoped that this wolf would let her help, she was hungry! She smiled to herself, this would be a good way to make a friend.

She looked up at the horses and studied them. She couldn't think of a plan at the moment to bring one down easily but she was sure this wolf next to her had one. And it was probably good because horses were not the easiest to hunt.
