Catch me I'm falling

OOC: Really really random, sorry

Windsong, shivering, hissed at the cold, steam escaping from her nostrils as she breathed. This was her first winter, and boy did she hate it. She missed the fall, the plentiful prey, the golden leaves dropping on her head as she rolled in the soft yellow grass. It was cold and wet, and when winter has come she was still in Saskatchewan and it was at least a little bit warmer and less damp than this place. She wondered why she'd come here, and wondered why no one seemed to be around. Were there only four or five wolves in this entire place? Not much of a pack, she thought, as she spotted a few thin hawks perching overhead, scanning the ground for prey. She would normally have been dancing, but it was much too cold for her to even consider moving from her current position, in which her body was curled around all her vital organs.

Her silver fur was slowly turning white as she snow dropped onto her body. She shook herself impatiently as she got up from her position. No sense lying around all day, she decided.

yay! hope you dont mind? thought it might be good for skye not to be so poopy all the time and be with a pup ^^

It had been letting up, true, but the wind was relentless, as was the snow. It was cold and wet and damp, and although the worst of it was certainly over, Skye couldn't wait until it all was just a memory in the wind. She had housed Windsong and occasionally the laughing merchant of a mate, Bangle. She had taken a particular liking to Windsong, however, and had tried to teach the small white pup everything she knew; the youngster had been curious and inquisitive, however, and had went out every chance she got. Skye didn't envy her; it was cold, but she knew that she had met many pack members.

Today, however, Skye was tracking the silver girl; she felt a little bad about it, true, but she couldn't let her out on such a cold day alone. What if she had followed in Alexander's footsteps and fallen into the frozen pool? Or what if a hawk had decided she was easy prey and swooped down to capture her? Although Skye wasn't the young puppy's mother, she felt a duty to protect the pup, as she had found her and tried her best to ease the young girl's sufferings.

In fact, she had taken to hunting more - now that the winter was getting slightly warmer, the prey was out, and Skye had been lucky enough to catch a raccoon. It wasn't very large - probably starved from the long winter - but it would do Windsong and herself just fine. She carried the large creature by the tail, wondering if Ouija or Bangle would like the pelt for something.

She found the silver girl lying in the snow, flakes adorning her pelt as she shivered. Skye walked down to the puppy and knelt by her just as the girl stood. "Hi, Windsong," she said. "I brought you something." She presented the raccoon.

Windsong looked up at Skye, getting up, her back aching from lying down so long. She stretched, elongating her body, her tail wagging much in the way of domestic dogs, then sniffed the proffered offering of a raccoon. The meat was too much for her to resist; she hadn't tasted fresh meat from an animal this big for weeks. Tentatively, she took the raccoon, but she knew enough about pack hierarchy that she was going to wait for the larger female to take the first bite before she dug in. She didn't want to get whacked in the head like her brothers often were in her other pack.

"So, how's going?" she asked, shaking the snow off her fur and standing up to her full height, which wasn't really that much. "I've met some other pack members, as well as some scary-looking loners. Are there a lot of wolves around this place?" Windsong asked, looking up appealing at the bigger wolf.

Word Count→000::OOC: Hii!! mind if i join?

Sankara had been craving for something the whole morning. Food. With this cold it had been impossible to find a small animal from which to feed on, so the dark female had to go on mushroom. Of course, this wasn't gthe easyest meal, with the frozen ground and he bitter taste. But it was better than nothing. So the female scratched the snow, leaning on the hole every now and then to collect her reward.

She continued with this action until she noticed something in the distance. it was a small white pelt, unfamiliar. Sankara had never seen other wolf around her that was completely white, so her curiosity took over her, and she got close to it. The small pelt began to move, breathing, as another female appeared. Maybe this is the mother.... She recognized the woman as Skye, one of the pack leaders. Sankara came to a stop, and looked at her surroundings. There where only a few hawks around, nothing much, but surely a danger for the small creature in front of Skye.

She saw Skye offering something to the small creature. It looked like a ball of fur...but as Skye moved it, Sankara saw that it was a racoon. Her stomach growled, and she shrinked. She didn't want them to aknowledge her prescence. Not already. She would wait until they finished their meal; to avoid temptations. So the dark female laid on her belly, gazing her surroundings...and trying to ignore the cold.

Sankara ”talks”, walks, and thinks.

Skye smiled kindly at the young girl, nodding her head at the raccoon; it was clear that she was giving the hesitant pup permission to eat. Sympathy gnawed its way through Skye's heart; surely this girl came from somewhere where the prey was scarce, or at least not as abundant as it was in Cercatori d'Arte. However, the fact that the girl was waiting for her to eat first was a clear sign of her politeness. Skye wasn't that hungry, suddenly, and wanted the girl to eat first.

Then Windsong asked what was going on. "Nothing, really," she said. The mention of 'scary looking loners' disturbed Skye, but Windsong seemed unhurt; still, she flattened one ear. "Scary looking loners? Windsong, maybe you should stay near Thornbury and Cercatori d'Arte territory for a little while longer. It's dangerous outside of pack territory, especially with all the...loners wandering around," she finished lamely. She had been about to say 'evil people', because Skye knew that there were evil people out there that would do unspeakable things to the innocent young pup, but she didn't want to scare her. Still, she thought that the pup would be safer with an entire pack to protect her than if she was out alone, with no one but herself.

Suddenly, however, Skye's sharp nose caught a familiar scent on the wind; Sankara. She turned her head so that she saw a flash of the grey woman; she also heard her belly grumbling. "Come out, Sankara," she said warmly to the woman. "I know you're there, and this raccoon isn't going to eat itself."

Word Count→000::OOC: whoot, I was absent! but now i'm back..*sigh*

Sankara jumped a bit when Skye adressed her. She was hoping to pass unseen, but her fur was very contrasting with the white snow beneath her. Skye was making an open invitation for her to share the meal. A racoon. "S-seriously? you don't mind?" Her stomach grumbled again, so she stood up and walked towards her. The puppy was still in front of her, and she hoped that she didn't scare her. Sankara knew that her looks were wild , so she gave the pup a reassuring look, trying to confort her; but still, she stopped a few feet away from them, with her ears lightly pressed to her skull.

The shadowy female turned her head towards the food, and back to the pup. She looked as if she needed it more than herself. She was an adult already, but the pup had been freezing moments ago. She wondered where did the pup came from. It couldn't be Orin's nor Valinta's. This pup was too old to be. So it must have been dropped by someone else...but who could have dropped her there, unprotected? Sankara sat down as she asked herself these questions. "Hello" she adressed the pup. "My name is Sankara, i'm part of this pack...what's your name?". The woman now had her full attention on the pup, ignoring the animal that Skye was still holding for them.

Sankara ”talks”, walks, and thinks.
