300+!

J'adore had planned another teaching session. Two in fact, but today's was with a newer member Tatiana Carrow. She was another Itse of the pack, while next days lesson was with Ayasha, an ayule.

J'adore was busy clearing up the logs he had not used and cleaning his personal fire tools. He was looking forward to teaching Tatiana. Hopefully he could convince her to join his path, but seeing as fire tending was lucky enough to have three followers, while others had none, maybe even if they knew about fire tending they would choose a less followed trail. Ayasha seemed intrested in medicene, while Valinta seemed drawn to the scouting path when the tan male had spoken of it.

J'adore was happy with his rank though. He was respected throughout the pack as fully as his once mentor, Ralla.

The number of members was growing too. And hopefully with new members would come new territory. A chance to expand. The tribal pack had been low on members recently but it seems more peaceful cainines had found it too their liking and settled down. J'adore himself had only been of this pack since late December, but he planned to stay here as long as he lived. And while he didn't fully believe all of the myths, his brain was too logical for that, but he understood them and took them in with an open mind.

He never believed many stories as a child unless he had proof. Which was why he was still pondering his belief about the spirits. His brain told him, it was a nice story, but it was unlikely to be true. But then there was the matter of the spirit guides, how could they match,in perfect synch with a wolf. There was many aspects that confused the european male, but whatever was true or false, J'adore was open minded to all of them.

J'adore was finally finished clearing his mess, a trait which he was cutting down. The logs where bag in their place, the pokers were clean, gleaming almost and the fire was blazing happily. His work here was done. Now all he had to do was wait for him student.

It was nice to finally find a place that was heavily populated, as opposed to the wilderness, and the canines out there. When wandering, it was normal to find very few canines - they were too feral, with an instinctual knowledge to stay away from others. This led to the lone wolf being entirely devoted to it's name; lone, alone. Without. Tatiana thought of this as she snuck her way across the Earth, contemplating how life could change so quickly. One moment she was simply exploring a strange wall - the next, she had a home. A place to root herself and be safe, amongst a group of friendly canines. Their kind still mystified her, but what was even more enchanting was their beliefs; she hadn't been around long enough to hear much, yet from what she gathered, the pack was very unique. The girl had jumped at the chance to learn the ways of AniWaya when she was permitted to attempt a fire tending lesson. She had seen fire before, but it had been raging and deadly, sweeping across the terrain during a horrendously dry summer. Her body had easily outrun the smaller tendrils of flame before they had become the monster that took out the plains, and she had been lucky. The thought of controlling this devastating power was, frankly, a terrifying and fantastic concept to her.

Learning was what she was here for. There was very little the girl could assist with, unless he got training. Even if it meant dealing with the strange natives in their bizarre forms, she would try and learn. Tatiana wanted to understand as much as she could about these canines. Her instructions were to find a male named J'adore next to the Great Fire; this was confusing to her, but she managed to find the large campfire after twenty minutes of wandering. The male appeared to be busy with things; cleaning, arranging, but was quickly finished with that work as Tatiana reached him. She gave a small bow of her head to him out of respect, unsure as always about how she should address him. J'adore was tall and golden-brown, with thoughtful eyes that made him seem trusting. He was lankier than Nayati, and seemed to be more adapted to life in a different area. Perhaps he was also a traveler? These thoughts were pressed to the back of her mind, and she introduced herself. "Hello, my name is Tatiana - I believe I have lessons with you today?" She fought back the tremble that had begun to build in her legs. These creatures - wolves, they were wolves - were kind and didn't seem aggressive. Her fear was unfounded, but it was there, lingering. Maybe one day she'd be rid of it entirely.

The Spaniard's attention turned to the female before him. J'adore walked forward his lithe weight balancing on his thighs, 'Yes, I believe you do. My name is J'adore Austral, Otlvna Gata'. He gave a light nod of his head before reaching up and pulling the black bandana from his hair, letting the medium length brown black locks fall around his head.

Noting her tenseness around the flames, J'adore gave a slight smile and gestured to the pit, 'Do not mind the great fire. It may dance wildly, but it is as calm and peaceful as the intentions of this pack'. He did not want Tatiana to be frightened of the fire. The horses at the stables were all once wild, now they were tame. The fire was no different.

'So you want to learn about fire tending?' The Fire Maker asked with a proud smile. He was proud of his rank, one which gave him a comforting level of respect. One more rank and he would be the most respected of the Gatas, he only needed to leap frog Ralla. He had now caught up with his once master and was working hard to reach the top of the ladder before her. Hopefully she would be too busy with Kemo to notice J'adore's eagerness to tend the fire every morning.

The wolf introduced himself, and seemed eager to begin. When noticing the girl's apprehension, J'adore was quick to try and assuage her fears. His motion towards the pit of red and yellow drew Tatiana's gaze, and she watched the fire as it rose up in to the air. It twisted, danced, but never became overbearing in it's attempts to reach the sky. It was far different from the fire she had experienced before; but there was always the chance that things could go wrong. That must be why the fire tending position was initiated within the pack. As long as someone knew how to contain it's rage, the fire could be tamed. The glow reflected in her orange eyes, flickering within them and illuminating her face - she found herself drawn closer to the fire pit, entertained by it's curious licks and jumps. 'So you want to learn about fire tending?' The wolf questioned, and she gave a small nod. Perhaps that was not enough of a response - as the motion was very small. So she turned to look at J'adore, keeping the fire in the corner of her eyes.

"Yes, I would like to try. I do not know how helpful I can be, as a simple wolf." She mentioned this in reference to his greater form. He had extra height and strength, there was very little she felt she could aid him with. Even his paws had extra length to them, an added digit that seemed to aid him with grasping things. Tatiana blinked furiously as she found herself staring at his paws, and quickly looked back to the fire. In an effort to lessen the tension, she asked a sincere question, "Fire is dangerous, so why does your pack harbor it? It could get out of control and burn the area to ashes and embers." As if on cue, the fire roared up and coiled itself in to the oxygen higher up, but quickly fell back in to it's bed of coals. Tatiana hoped that this J'adore could explain things to her, and maybe help her understand the AniWaya ways.

...as a simple wolf, but she smelt like a luperci. Not another Ookami. J'adore frowned and quickly pushed the thought to the back of his mind. 'I'm sure your ears will help you out' he said studying her with his white eyes.

'Because, it is a beacon of many things for us. Too many to list without telling many tales' he answered honestly, 'But there is not poibnt continuing if you have a fear of fire. First we must master your fear'. And with that the tan male moved over to thefire and let his hand move through the flames. They didn't burn him, that was the trick, move it through fast enough and the embers did not have time to catch. It had amazed Ayasha and Gunnar, but it was an old trick to the three year old male.

'I can teach you the lore, the language, the duties, tell you about the different ceremonies' J'adore explained, moving back over to Tatiana. 'There is much to learn so if you want to learn all of it, we may need a few lessons'.

The fire crackled and waved behind him, and unlike Tatiana he payed no attention to the flames.

Tatiana watched as the teacher reacted to her words. A frown passed over his features, making her quite nervous. Had she said something wrong? Evidently, as J'adore had a concerned look upon his face. She found herself wanting to stare at the fire, but it's light was far too harmful to her own eyes, so instead she simply looked at the ground. Until he mentioned using her ears, which made those tall objects on her head twitch. Like they had been called, and the twitch was a response. It wasn't long before he explained the importance of the fire. The tone of the male's voice made Tatiana look up once again, drifting between his strange white eyes and the twirling miasma of warmth nearby. She did have a fear, but what animal did not? Fire was harmful, it was alien, it was unstoppable. It was rage and power incarnate and this wolf controlled it; he was in posession of a strong tool, a force that could overtake this area quickly if it had free reign.

Yet, J'adore was in control. The fire was not too large or overbearing, it simply existed. How had these wolves created it? Or had it come from somewhere else and survived here in this strange pit, like a creature? It would do no good to think about things; Tatiana was here for lessons, not trivial thoughts of childish natures. With a calmness that was the complete opposite of the red wolf's own mental state, the teacher took his hand and passed it through the fire - at first, Tatiana was worried for him. Her body tensed and she nearly cried out for him to stop, lest he burn himself. However, he was watching her expectantly - and the fire simply shifted out of his way. He truly was in control of it. 'I can teach you the lore, the language, the duties, tell you about the different ceremonies,' he explained, and the girl found him sitting near her again. She nodded to him, finding that the tension melted away with the heat of the fire as he came closer, because he was out of danger. Had he been in any real danger, though?

'There is much to learn so if you want to learn all of it, we may need a few lessons.' That was alright with her. To be able to control fire in the way that he did was a great asset, even if she was limited in her size and abilities. Her ears would be very helpful in the next few lessons. Tatiana nodded, watching him while she felt the glow of the fire against her fur. "Yes, I would like that. Any tales you would like to impart to me would be greatly appreciated. I have much to learn about AniWaya, still."

The male nodded to himself as his student realised the great fire was nothing to fear. 'Okay I shall tell you the tales of AniWaya' he moved himself over to a log he had been using as a resting spot and sat down, beconing for Tatiana to come closer.

'Ready? Okay' J'adore coughed and looked the female in the eyes, 'In the beginning of the world, there was no fire...' The story continued in the same slow, yet deliberate verse. Words were painted as vididly as possible and most of the lines were recited with J'adore white eyes closed. He imagined all of the creature with there fire markings. His brain worked with thin air to create the scenes he went over every day while he did his duties, even while he slept the little Water Spider retrieved the fire.

J'adore smiled to Tatiana, 'Any questions?' Ayasha had plenty of quries. But then again a pup was clueless to many things, but Tatiana was older, but perhaps she still had questions to ask.

J'adore himself did not have many questions to ask, but then again J'adore had always been ruled by logic and this perhaps was the reason why religion confused him. He was still open minded to anything spiritual, hopefully his loose dedication to the lore would not hinder his respect in the pack. Because he was not denying the tangibility of the spirits. He was not sure if they were real, but either way he would teach the lore and give others the option to believe too. And maybe someday his mind would fix on the tangibility of this certain religion, it was certainly moving in that direction. The gaining of his spirit guide shook him into beliving more of what his pack preeched. Even so he would never force what he believe on another person.

I looked up the Great Fire on the 'Souls wiki, and I'm going to adapt that to the story J'adore told Tatiana. Is that okay? I figure it would be a more dramatic, flowery version of the history on the wiki.

The male moved and sat himself down, then looked to her - and began telling the tale. It started with the history of the world before Luperci; but of course he did not call them that. The description made the girl think of herself, for surely she was just as primitive as the wolves in the story. Her own mother had told her tales of humans, of the two leggers that had once controlled the world, hunting the wolf to extinction in many places. Such tales were lost on her though; because she was alive, and the humans were not. All that was left of those mythological creatures were the ruins of cities, strange paths made of hardened tar, and contraptions that made pretty good beds. Tatiana's doubts rose within her mind as J'adore continued with his story, and she fought back the urge to question him. Doing so would be rude, and she was still feeling alienated after disturbing Nayati at the border with her behavior.

Next, came the history of fire. The world was without fire, but it came to them one by one in the forms of spirits - blessing them, giving them an advantage over the other wolves and dogs of the land. The fire raged, taking the humans away, but passing this gift of life and power down to the canines. Tatiana concentrated as she listened, barely moving, or even really breathing. She was in such a deep concentration that the girl hadn't moved away from his white eyes, becoming lost in their dream-like mist. Her mind wandered while her ears listened, pondering about his strange eyes. Could he see properly? Was he perhaps blinded by the fire, but still blessed with sight? Such a silly question - yet it clung to her like moss. Finally as the tale ended, J'adore gave a brief pause. Any questions?

The girl sat there, absorbing, trying to deconstruct the tale and make sense of it. It seemed so gawdy and out of place, to talk about their own kind as if they were superior to her own. Still, in a way they were. They had the extra height and strength, the digits, even the intelligence. They constructed tree-shapes to live in, similar to the humans and their ruins. Tatiana gave a glance towards the fire as she thought quietly to herself, then shook her head. "I have no questions. Although I have much to think about now."

'Well if you find you have any, I live in a human cabin a few minutes from the village, just near the stables' his eyes darted to the fire and the male stood up. 'Excuse me, I just have to throw a few logs on the great fire'. He grabbed the bag of logs that were behind the larger log he sat on. The tan male held the bag in one hand and produced three logs with the other, casually placing them at the great fires heart. He did this a few more time before setting the bag down in its original place and taking his seat again.

'I do not expect you to have solid belief in the lore as I do not, I was raised a logical man and my mind is still factoring what I have learnt. But I believe there is something. I can aver that there is something about this place that feels different to everywhere else' he explained, after retrieving his seat and expressing his thoughts.

'Hmmm... What next?' he murmured to himself, racking his brain for any clues on what he could teach next. Shall I tell you how the Great Fire and AniWaya started?' It was an intresting story with an obvious diagnosis, but that was irrelevent to the story, it was about teamwork and brotherhood. J'adore found it hard to choose between the two stories as they both competed for his favour, a stark comparison to when he first joined AniWaya. His mind told him it was all rubbish, but when he gained Ptitsa as his (ever absent) spirit guide, the experiance threw him and his mind what unsettled for days. His mind had settle on the fact that perhaps the stories were true. They were realistic, unlike some religions. There was definetly something about AniWaya.
