It was a rare occasion but Selene was to actually be found in the caves. And out in the open at that. She had settled herself down in the kitchen area. She had a couple of rabbits with her. She had already skinned them and had cleaned them up and everything. She was spit cooking them over a fire, slowly turning the spit as she watched them cook. For some reason she wanted some cooked meat rather than raw for once. Perhaps it was just her missing the way things were in the cult yet again. And the time it took to cook the small prey gave her time to think and reflect.

Still it also meant that she was stuck out in public for a longer amount of time. Was it really worth it? Was it worth the hassles of cooking something and being forced into public view just to have a taste of home? After all Sele lived as a hermit pretty much. She didn't try to really involve herself with the pack. Of course that was because of her misconceptions. She didn't trust herself to get too close to others or else she might ruin their lives.

On occasions she thought of leaving but she had begged Nani to let her come along. She couldn't just leave Nani. The thought of being forced away and out on her own was frightening. While she was worried about getting too close to the pack she also couldn't stand the thought of leaving. It made it a difficult situation for her. It made her torn between what was the best course of action. After all she had to participate to some degree so that she could remain. But still she didn't want to get too involved either. She just didn't want to put anyone at risk or in harm's way.

Thanks for starting!

Having never spent a life out in the open, Salvia was familiar with the caves and found them comforting. She liked being reassured by the roof over her head, and she liked that there were always new tunnels to find. Many were deep and treacherous and she feared them, but others were just right for her quickly-growing body to squirm into. Luckily, she hadn’t gotten trapped yet. That would certainly be terrible. Her brother and sister would chide her for weeks about it, something the timber-puppy had no desire to listen to.

The smell of food had drawn her and turned her ravenous. It was not as if her parents did not feed her—Larkspur gave the children food daily, and Eris’ cat would occasionally drop off one of his kills begrudgingly before he slunk off to do whatever it was he did. Though moody, Salvia liked the cat and often tested his patience by playing with his bushy tail. A few scratches had been earned, but she did not find them all that horrible. One of these adorned her nose as it worked furiously, seeking the source of the aroma.

She found a woman with meat, roasting it over a fire. Cooked meat was unknown to her, as she and her siblings often fought over the provided meal. Her brother was still bigger than her, but Salvia was not small like Wretch and it showed. The girl moved into the room boldly, coming up to the strange woman with no fear in her eyes. “What are you doing?” Salvia asked bluntly, having never seen meat prepared in such a way.

Selene found the same comfort in the cave system. She liked being underground and hidden away from prying eyes. She liked the twists and turns that were there and meant to throw people off. She liked how easy it would be for one that didn't already know the area for them to get lost. It afforded a protection that she couldn't think to get anywhere else. And all of the unexplored parts made it even better. More places to hide and not be found.

She looked to the young girl that had come up to stand at her side. "Cooking rabbit." Not that she was a very good cook. But she at least knew how to do this much. It was nothing fancy but it was warm. She looked back to the food to check on it before finally removing the spit from over the fire so that she could remove the cooked food. "Did you want to try some?" She asked as she carefully pulled off the rabbits and laid them on the ground. "They are still hot so you don't want to bit into it right away." She figured that she should warn the pup so that she wouldn't end up burning her tongue.

And without the cooking food to distract her she was finally able to fully look at the pup. "Where are your parents?" At least Sele couldn't think of any orphaned pups having been taken in. For all she knew they all had relatives and such living here. But she could be wrong since she didn't get out among the general populace too much either. She really should do so more but she didn't unfortunately. She was trying now though at least. For some reason she felt more at ease around pups than she did other adults.

The woman had white fur like many of Naniko’s family, but her blue eyes were unique. Salvia remembered her from the first and only pack meeting she had attended, but only vaguely. She had been so busy trying to take everything in that there had been little time for getting to meet or recall specific details. Still, this reassured her the adult would not harm her, and possibly feed her. Even though she was used to regular meals, Salvia ate constantly. It showed, as she was so much larger than Wretch (but still not as big as Pan, she thought sourly).

As the woman explained herself, Salvia wondered why she would cook something over the fire. The offer for food, however, distracted her and she nodded quickly, frowning at the idea of waiting to eat. She certainly didn’t want to burn herself, not after what happened to Scorpius. That was just gross. Her ears rose high, comically large on her small skull. “My daddy is with our sheep and my momma is with uncle Sirius,” she explained, recalling the details from earlier in the day. Their parents would tell the children where they would be, as usually one or the other stayed close to the caves if the children needed them. While not mates, Larkspur and Eris were good parents. “You look like Naniko,” she added, believing this might make the woman a relative and more inclined to feed her as much as she pleased.
